Medium Rare - Cleveland Park
Steak & eggs
With "the perfect poached egg" or our house scrambled eggs and hand-cut fries
Key Lime Pie
tarte au citron vert des Pie Sisters
The cleveland park location has better service than Bethesda. The food was good and great atmosphere.
Thanksgiving with family from out of town.
Good at what they do
We are new to DC. Wanted to have a nice comfortable steak dinner… not stuffy and over priced to celebrate our adult daughter’s birthday. This fit the bill. It was a very tasty steak and fries, pleasant atmosphere… nice!
We were there early so don’t know how noise level would be at peak time. We recommend it for an easy tasty night out.
Maeve was simply a terrible server. Had only four tables but her friends were at one of them. Spent most of her time talking to them. Including selfies with them. Had to ask for bread. The order wasn’t put in resulting in a delay in entrees. Not attentive on drink refills. Ruined an otherwise terrible experience.
I had a great experience. The volume was high outside but in the best way possible. Everyone was very energetic and it brought a great ambience to the brunch experience.
Stellar restaurant - consistently perfect fare, excellent value, and perhaps the best community partner in town. Firsttimers will love it and regulars will wonder why to bother going anywhere else. I wish all venues had the commitment to quality of Medium Rare!
This is the noisiest restaurant I have ever been to in my life. Awful.
Always delicious. Took some family from out of town and they loved it.
Family reunion and birthdays
The service here was terrible. I’ve been coming here for years now and it used to be top tier. I can see the service just getting poorer and poorer, the traffic for the restaurant getting lower. I can actually see the difference in who they are hiring. If it wasn’t for the chefs, this place wouldn’t be thought of as a recommendation for a place to eat. I walked in and was seated at 8pm. Wasn’t even greeted by the waiter, didn’t even get water until 8:45 and our bread and salad until 9. Even my close friend that works there was surprised we didn’t get our salads yet from the time I walked in and greeted him. This location used to be a go-to for every event I have. It’s sad, music is way too loud, I had to yell at the top of my lungs to get a fork. Every time I come in I have to ask for new glasses because they always come dirty and even when I asked for them to rinse it, the same ones are back, always dusty with a bit of stains. Food comes cold sometimes because waiters are too focused on one table. Ahh, plenty of more things to say but will not. This is not a review off of one visit. It’s coming from someone who’s been coming to your restaurant for years and almost every holiday and seeing the downfall. I would usually recommend to do your birthdays here, but please, not anymore. Your birthday will get ruined.
Great food, service and ambiance. Definitely will be going back soon!
Great food and service during brunch; but be warned it is extremely loud due to the music blasting and full of large drunk groups of the early 20s crowd. Not a place to go if you want to have a conversation.
Too noisy! Perhaps to compete with the screaming kids they turn the music up really loud? Sort of felt like a Chuck-E-Cheese atmosphere. This was the Cleveland Park location, perhaps other locations are less screaming kid oriented. The food was fine, you get exactly the set menu, salad, steak and frites. It's solid. Wouldn't go back though b/c of the noise. Our server was fantastic. Nice to have good service in DC.
Just go. It’s great. Fun and lively. Delicious. Key lime pie was killer.
Always great steak. Fun and easy atmosphere. Little loud, but a place I go back to over and over.
It was great! Waiters were good and answered all of our questions. Food was delicious as well.
I was able to take my mom to dinner at Medium Rare for her Birthday. She's had never been previously. Gabbi, our waiter, took good care of her and made her experience memorable. She loved every moment of it. And that chocolate cake was AMAZING.
in addition to the high quality of the food, the service was fantastic. you have a great group of people working there. And that is worth going to Medium Rare even if the food weren't so good.
Music was way too loud even after asking for it to be turned down and we had to remind the waiter a few times for our drinks but other than that our experience was good.
Fun atmosphere, two rounds of good food, and great desserts!
They have a great Prixe Fixe formula, and it works. Delicious steak, frites, salad!
all very well, I will definitely come back. I love that I only have one dish available for dinner, it makes it simple and specialized
have eaten here many times before. the only issue this time was we ate outside. so you get traffic noise. everything else about the visit was as good as always
The service was exceptionally poor. It was unlike any of the many times we have been there before.
I went here for a Sunday Brunch. It was great service and food was okay. Not much options though on the brunch menu. The drinks and service were outstanding.
I wish our waitress would have been more attentive, she barely checked on us. Also the first time I visited we got about 3 servings of steak and fries. This time we got 2 servings and it took forever for the second serving to come around. Other than that, the food was amazing!
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in D.C. thus far. The food is very delicious, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised when they gave us another serving of steak and fries. It definitely helps to make a reservation as the restaurant was extremely busy.
Great concept and food was terrific. Very loud and difficult to talk to others at the table at times was the only negative.
There were some hiccups with service and bill. The food and drinks were great as expected
My steak was cooked perfectly. The fries here are great -- thin and slightly crispy. The Bordeaux on their menu is an excellent wine . . . really good value.
One meal one price, and will visit again! Great service and enjoyed the spacious outdoor patio.
Food was delicious and service was great! Only complaint would be that the mimosas were a little too pulpy; but easy to overlook when everything else is great!
Been going to medium rare for years. I love the place. Thankfully the food is still just as good, but the service is getting worse and worse every time, which is sad. Being in the service industry it seems it’s a management problem, or lack there of.
Service was excellent, and outdoor seating very pleasant. Fruit was tasty though cut into chunks so big it was awkward to eat from the parfait glass. The eggs Benedict had something in them that tasted like bland ground mushy meat of unknown type. Not pleasant. The eggs themselves were good. French fries nice.
Food was excellent, as always. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating! Even to my small dog seated with us on the patio. Love Medium Rare! Excellent service.
The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday evening when the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. Despite a request for al fresco we were put in the back room. This is understandable for a group of 8 but there were several tables for 8 outdoors. The wait staff were very friendly but seemed overwhelmed. A simple order of multiple martinis for the table were delayed about 30 minutes. The birthday honoree was the last to get his cocktail at about 40 minutes after ordering. I must say the food (steak increased wait staff (especially if experienced and efficient) would make a big difference.
Had a nice meal price fixe menu of steak and fries. Food was very good for $25. I would definitely go back.
Nico is a great waiter! The food is always good and the wine selection is nice and reasonably priced. Love going here.
