   I used to come here more frequently, but have not been in awhile. There are always a steady stream of patrons and they do one thing right - STEAK. I feel there was more of a wait after ordering than usual and the portion size might have decreased, especially trying to split a small amount of fries amongst four people. The last person was left with only a few small fries when served from the tray to the each person's plate at the table. It's in a good location and has outdoor sitting. Plus they have a decent wine list, which is always nice to pair with steak. There staple is the sauce which if you haven't had, you will love.

    Medium Rare is a burger joint that sells steak rather than burgers. One item on menu, steak with fries. Food was fine. Service felt a little rushed to turn the table. Desserts were crazy huge. Overall pricy for the experience.

    Wow. That special sauce is amazing. Steak and fries were good. Dennis was a very good server. Music was a bit loud. Bathroom “pickup lines” language lessons were a bit odd if not off putting.

    The service was very confused. At times numerous people kept trying to take away our plates. At other times, we waited a long time to have anyone attend to us. The second round of meat was not cooked the way we ordered it (but we ate it anyway since we'd lost faith in the service.)

    Food was undercooked. Medium rare was more like barely dead and very rare. Small portions for the expense. Very loud and noisy. Not a place to go for peace and quiet. Filled with high school and college kids. The Bethesda location is much better than DC Cleveland Park Connecticut Avenue near the zoo! Saving grace was the expeditious and polite service. Love the French language lessons in the restrooms! Superb!

    This was my 2nd time here. Waited 30mins past our reservation time to be sat for party of 2. Service was very slow. Food was good but not how I remembered from first visit. Won't go again.

    A most unique experience! Because it is a fixed price menu, there is absolutely no selection, except in the area of beverages or desserts. And that’s just fine. Second helpings were served once we finished the entrée. A very pleasant time.

    Even though I always had a great experience at this place, yesterday was a huge disappointment. In terms of hygiene and noise, it was awful. We witnessed one of the waiter who was carrying the stacked glass cups leaning against his face and ears which was served to the customers later on. It was definitely uncomfortable for us to see them not taking their job seriously and joking around with each other loudly just like none of the customers were there. After this time I don’t think none of us will visit this location again.

    Good value. Bottomless mimosas and great fries. We were there for brunch. Benedict was salty and on sour dough slices; not quite the same and the hollandaise sauce was average. Mixed green salad was yum! Very loud! Very obvious it’s a college kids hangout, if you’re into that ambiance.

    This is my third time eating at Medium Rare, first time at Cleveland Park location, twice before in Bethesda. The service is always good regardless of location. The brunch is a good deal with the bottomless mimosas. I prefer the steak frites to the steak and mushroom hash. The fries are delicious.

    I put a note about my brother’s birthday and I asked for something special. I got no response. When I got to the restaurant, I checked with the hostess. She confirmed that she saw my note and would be taking care of everything. Nothing was done about the birthday. When it came time for dessert, nothing was said about what I had asked for. Even as other birthday celebrations were happening around us. Which brings me to another point: I’ve been coming to Medium Rare at this location and the Bethesda location since opening day. This location has always been managed somewhat poorly. Tonight and in recent months it’s been completely off the rails. The place is so poorly managed. People bumping into each other a pseudo-house manager barking orders and yelling at staff in front of guests. Not to mention, the actual manager who had to take orders which he forgot to do. You also pack too many guests in so everyone bumps into each others tables. Speaking of tables mine was soaking wet and dripped all over us. There were no other tables (see above) so we just had to deal with it. The food is not good enough for the service to be this bad.

    I love the steak with the secret sauce. But the last few times I’ve eaten here, I’ve felt really rushed. The server brought the steak when we were still eating our salads. Then we hadn’t finished the first portion, when the server came with the second portion. It really diminished the experience.

    The place is nice, engaging. No complaints on their service at all. They were amazing!!! But the food, especially the steak, was not up to the mark at all. The fries might have been the best of the set menu. I would say - try out, might satisfy your taste bud. Mine wasn’t satisfied for the money we spent. Kudos to our server, again, they were amazing!

    Went at peak hour on Valentine's Day. They were completely booked, but they were able to sit us down immediately. The staff were incredibly busy, but all took time to be polite and friendly. The steak frites menu was at its usual standard, and it was a great night out on one of the busiest nights for any restaurant.

    I’ve been coming to Medium Rare for years now. It has been a while since I’ve been for brunch, however. As usual, the music was up way way way too loud. No one wants to try to scream over music that loud. I’ve been told before it’s planned ambience, but come on, it’s obnoxious. Turn the music down already. I don’t know if the place is under new management. When you would make a reservation and report a birthday, the birthday person would get a free dessert with that rocket fire cracker on top. No such thing this time. We paid for dessert for the birthday person. I also don’t care for the wait staff and bussers to be constantly reaching across my plate. Has no one taught anyone how to serve guests anymore? You don’t reach across someone’s plate while they are eating. They were trying to bus my plate before I was even finished every other minute. I had to tell them three times that I was not finished as they put their hands all over my plates. I don’t really care if you’re trying to turn over the table for the next person or people, I’m not finished yet! It was as obnoxious as the music. I think the worst thing was that you were made to pay the same price as people who opt to drink alcohol. I don’t drink, and neither did my friend whose birthday was. There’s no way that I could drink orange juice, or she diet soda that would ever equal what people drinking screwdrivers, mimosas, or bloody Mary’s were drinking when it came to price. It’s almost a form of discrimination as far as I’m concerned. Have a different price point for people who do not drink alcohol. I get it. We are all indoctrinated our whole lives with the message that the only way to have fun is to drink alcohol. Not everybody needs to drink to have fun. I would rather have had the second helping plate that they don’t normally give people for their dinner service and have to pay for alcohol that I’m not gonna drink. Unless this changes, you’ll never see me back at Medium Rare.
