Beat steak I have ever had. Wonderful ambiance, quiet enough to discuss business and close. Was perfect
Thank You to all the staff at Michael's for making our anniversary a night to remember.
Excellent service and a fantastic dinner. See you soon.
Amazing food, amazing staff and wonderful live background music
Michael’s on Simcoe is a wonderful restaurant! Our waiter, Yan, was terrific and everyone was working to make our experience enjoyable. After we ordered, we received an amuse bouche, a lovely deep fried baby artichoke with tomatoes on a lemon aioli. My husband needs to be gluten free so we declined it. The server asked, “Do you have celiac? If so, we can make this gluten free for you.” Very soon afterward, out came the gluten free version, that looked like the first but was fried with rice flour. It was delicious! My husband had the grilled octopus and the salmon special. I had the char carpaccio special appetizer and the strip loin with bernaise sauce. We shared the zucchini from the sides menu. Everything was outstanding! The only slight negative I would give is that the whiskey and tequila pours were pretty skimpy. We will definitely return when we are in Toronto.
The restaurant was highly rated by friends so took the chance and booked a dinner. The staff started off as very attentive but as the restaurant got busy so did the staff and the service slowed to a crawl. Between appetizers and entrees it was a good 40 minutes (only 2 people ordered apps). Drink orders were forgotten on a number of occasions depending on who took the order. I was expecting a different experience considering the price. As for quality of food, it was good, but nothing where I left the restaurant saying I planned on returning. A three start rating is average and that is what was delivered.
My husband was given incorrect entrée, they charged $9.00 for water and $31.00 for one glass of pinot noir which was 2 oz.
Can’t say enough about the level of service we received from Peter. He was knowledgeable, gracious, and frankly exceptional. The food was outstanding and overall our experience was highly enjoyable. Combining an upcoming special occasion later in the week and a post TIFF meal - I can say Michaels deserves the many glowing reviews posted. Highly recommended.
Michael's on Simcoe was very accommodating for our large party of 20+ people. Sandra, the events coordinator, was particularly helpful when trying to organize this, especially during the rush that is the Toronto International Film Festival. The food was delicious and the ambiance was stylish and modern, but not tacky. We were very happy with out experience and would come here again.
Went for our anniversary and it was amazing. Service was top notch and the kitchen even provided a special desert for us! The meal was pricey but definitely worth it for the quality and level of service, I would definitely recommend Michael’s to anyone looking for dining options for a special occasion
The service was very good, servers were very polite and attentive. The steak tasted like it was soaked in oil and salt. Disappointing.
Great service, ambiance and food. Always a pleasure coming here . Have raised the bar for other steakhouses in Toronto . Great knowing that Carlo is also here now! 😊🙏🏼🍷
Went for our anniversary. First time there and would definitely go back. Food, service and ambience all top rate. Little pricey for some of the items but overall a great experience.
Menu has both traditional and interesting options, which range from reasonable to extravagant. Service is friendly and very refined, and the restaurant is intimate and quietly elegant. The wine list is quite extensive, and the cocktails are crafted with in-house bitters and cordials. We were very impressed with the surf-and-turf, in-house pasta, seafood platter (which the kitchen gladly modified to our taste), and caesar salad, but the chopped salad was something we could have had at a lesser restaurant. A minor quibble for an impressive experience. This restaurant is one of two in Toronto licensed to serve Kobe beef, and the many wagyu options make it a steak-lover’s dream.
We were visiting Toronto for the weekend and tried Michael's. Excellent attentive service. We had the dry aged ribery that was the best stake I've had at any restaurant. The chopped salad was delicious. Good atmosphere, piano music and service.
Everything was wonderful!
Our Somali was extremely helpful, he picked the perfect wine for dinner.
Our waiter was terrific, everyone was polite, and super nice.
And the food was absolutely delicious.
I don’t have anything negative to say.
Truly awesome evening! From champagne options, service, specialty knives , and of course the pasta and meat - fantastic!
I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time. The steaks were great, perfectly cooked, I didn’t like anything else, I ordered a Cesar salad, the lettuce was wilted and there were 3 slices of too crispy bacon, then mushroom stuffed ravioli, it was very bland no spices and needed salt, then the octopus, which is very hard to get wrong, apparently I was wrong, it was tough and the garnishes around tasted old and bland at the same time. Finally dessert, it was not memorable, at $200 per person, I excepted amazing food. I was not amazed. I will not return.
Outstanding steak selection. Waiter very accommodating and quick with good answers to our questions. Other staff stopped by our table to assure our satisfaction and were most willing to chat once they determined our interest in doing so.
Went to celebrate birthday (good steak fanatic).
Good food, overpriced though. Excellent service.
Arrived early for reservation and could have been seated immediately. Decided to have a drink at the bar. Bartenders could not have been better. Wanted something different so tried one of their special cocktails (Sunset Margarita), fantastic. Piano player was very good. Saw owner or manager working with rhe staff in a super positive manner. There is a high level of engagement and attention to detail here. Once we were seated, we enjoyed a complimentary appetizer (crispy artichoke hearts) and warm bread. This was followed by two of the best steaks and lobster paired with some incredible garlic mashers and sautéed zucchini. Unfortunately, no room for dessert but I'm sure it would not have disappointed. Service was excellent throughout the evening. Definitely coming back the next time we're in Toronto.
The best restaurant experience I’ve ever had and likely ever will have.
Highly recommended the Chef tasting menu. It was a fantastic experience
This is my 3rd attempt to dine at this steakhouse, all the other times it was too crowded. The wait staff was excellent. He talked me out of an USDA Prime selection to try a Canadian cut. Boy, I was not disappointed!!! Being a Texan who knows our cow parts, this is a high compliment!!! But the most surprising part was how the steak was cooked. This was the first time in my life to see a medium-rare-plus, ALL THE WAY THROUGH, WITHOUT VARIATION from the outside to the middle!!!! Combined with the quality of the meat and marbling... the best steak I’ve ever had in my 50 years!!!!! The wine list for single diners like myself was pretty good, and again the waitstaff made excellent recommendations. Michael’s has definitely made the top of my list! Will definitely make it my regular stop on my layovers. Excellent job all the way around!!!
The service was excellent and surf & turf was excellent.
Steaks and Lobster Bisque were amazing
Peter and Carlos were absolutely amazing and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to Toronto
I literally have no complaints. None. All the food was terrific and the staff informative, respectful and a true please to interact with. In very fine print I would say that the live music (for a saturday night) should stay later then 10:30pm.
Very high end atmosphere, incredible food and outstanding service. The artichoke based amuse bouche was to die for. I travel globally and dine at some of the finest restaurants in the world. Michael's on Simcoe is second to none.
Service is exceptional. Very professional and well trained staff without any pretentious airs. Very friendly and accommodating.
The food was awesome!!!! The service was ultra slow and we waited for our food for more than 1 hour after ordering. The meat cuts and quality was WOW! Too bad the service ruined it.
Perhaps the best steak I’ve ever had.
This place should be on your bucket list.
My husband and I really enjoyed Michael’s - great ambience, waitstaff and meal ( we decided to avoid steaks). It was a bit hot where we were seated. The best part of our experience was the first class service. Will return and try a steak 🤗
So glad we found this place on our trip to Toronto!
An absolute favourite again and again. There is no question as to why this place is rated #1 in Toronto.
What a most Fabulous Restaurant, the Ambience, the Extraordinary Food and the most Amazing Staff.
Truly excellent 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The food was phenomenal! The server was very knowledgeable and the steaks were both flavorful and perfectly cooked. Sides were just as tasty as was the dessert.
My only complaint would be that it was a bit warm in the restaurant itself.
Exceptional service. Manager was so engaged and nice. Provided a complementary little app to my husband and I. Food was good, cooked perfectly. We got pasta as an app that we split and two steaks with fries on the side. It was delicious. Steak was cooked perfect! We felt like steak was good but for the value and taste the classic bolognese was just absolutely delicious. The pasta was not overly expensive and it was well worth the amount paid. Would recommend for a nice dinner. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary, would have made an even better experience, if asked what we were celebrating!
