About

We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly searing sushi enhances the natural flavours and textures of the fish. Miku owner Seigo Nakamura innovated the Aburi concept by crafting specialty sauces using non-traditional Japanese ingredients to pair with each type of fish. The light sear from the binchotan (Japanese bamboo charcoal) then caramelizes the sauce, releasing a smoky aroma and bringing out the finest flavours in each piece of Aburi sushi.

Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Fly Over Canada, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus.

Our entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruise ship terminal at Canada Place.

**We only will hold reservations up to an additional 15 minutes after your reservation time, after which your table will be released.

It was very busy so the food took a bit of time. However the aburi sushi we got was cold.

Miku is a not-to-be-missed destination when in Vancouver. Miku is our favourite sushi restaurant on the planet! Our server, Veronica was amazing and took extra special care of us including excellent advise on cocktails and wine to accompany the meal.

I love everything about this restaurant- the location, the energy, the food, the service, the drinks. But the best part is by far the sushi. I can't explain it - you'll just have to try it. We make reservations at Miku every time we travel to Vancouver.

Very good meal for 3 of us. The best rolls were the Miku roll. Nice table with water front view.

The server had a lot of free time standing/walking around doing nothing. The server did not check in to see how things are and if we needed anything else.

We ordered a meal that comes with miso soup but the miso soup never came despite the fact we inquired about it.

We’ve been hearing about Miku from all our friends so when we knew we were going to be in Vancouver, the first thing we did was to make a reservation at Miku. We were celebrating a special occasion and has called in advance to request a seat by the window overlooking the ocean.

The host I spoke to confirmed many times that it would not be a problem and to not worry. Fantastic! A week before leaving for the trip, I called again to once again confirm the reservation and to make sure that we would have a seat by the window reserved for the dinner. I was told yes, not a problem.

On the day, our reservation was at 7:15pm, so we walked in at 7:10pm and were told to wait by the lobby area near the restroom and the front door. 7 minutes later, we were led to a tiny little table barely big enough for two people. It was on near the front of the door toward the back of the restaurant near the bar where lights were dim, there was much foot traffic in the tiny little area with the tiny tables that seem like they’re for bar patrons... and when I asked what happened to our window seat, the host dismissively said, “we’re just trying to seat you as soon as possible.” And then she left.

So my husband and I left the table and spoke to another host who confirmed that we did indeed reserve an ocean view table by the front and were promptly seated at another booth in the well-lit, light and airy front section of the restaurant, though not by the window we promised. Fine. I wasn’t going to be too picky. We were tired from our long trek.

The only nice thing about the restaurant and our dining experience was our sever who was informative, prompt and friendly. The hosts were snooty and dismissive, the food was sub-par for the price. We ordered the Aburi Prime & AAA Sterling silver prime rib... and everything we ordered... while the ingredients were fresh, the food themselves were pretentious and looked like more effort was put into presentation versus the actual food. Disappointed.

Very Overrated! This is not a Serious Sushi Restaurant.
More of an Asian Fusion mix.

Miku was amazing. Our server was outstanding. The sushi was as good as any sushi that I have eaten. The house special salmon and mackerel was amazing.

They went out of their way to replace the oysters and gave us more ssashimi on our platter instead and we are so appreciative of that! They also arranged our dessert to say happy birthday and didn’t rush us at all! Def would love to come back again!

Such a great meal! The fish is so fresh and expertly prepared. The servers are highly educated in the food and a delight to talk with. Very unique to have the best food and best service, usually one suffers and other shines-but in walks Miku! Can’t wait until the next visit!

It was a stand out experience in our trip to Vancouver. We had the seaweed salad, with a variety of leaves, seaweed and vegetables and lovely dressing and hamachi crudo to start. For mains, we both had the Miku signature selection with different nigiri, rolls and their specialty oshi pressed rolls. Finished with mango & lime sorbet. Everything was delicious and a delight! And the service was faultless. Highly recommend. If you have kids, choice is limited but our 6 year old loved the miso noodle soup they made for him.

For this second visit, i remember to make reservation and asked to be seated overlooking the water. That didn’t really happen however, eventhough i made it a couple of weeks ahead for a party of two. Worth a try i guess. Food wise, it was superb. The Aburi Kaiseki is only available at the Vancouver location and not Toronto so it’s only right to get it. The waiter was very thoughtful. He added a little personal touch on the dessert for my graduation. He too was very attentive and seemed to have timed his table visit just right. All in all, highly recommended.
