From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.
Minami Restaurant offers a dynamic space for both dining and entertaining, including two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden garden patio, and sushi bar.
Located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Yaletown, Minami Restaurant offers two distinct private dining rooms accommodating groups between 14-30 for a wide range of private events.View Private Dining Details
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
My out of town guests said they definitely want to come back.
One of the best Sushi restaurants in Vancouver. Amazing food and service.
Big fan of the food. Had a good time hanging out with friends.
Delicious food, lovely ambiance and great customer service!
Out of town visit. Last time at this restaurant was about 2 years ago +. I remember it to be much better. Rice for sushi was quite gummy/gooey, and much too large for one bite but fell apart for 2 bite. Disappointed.
Good service, excellent food. We are all experienced sushi eaters, and we were all impressed by the food.
We came back after one year later for our anniversary dinner and it was even better than the last! As soon as we sat down, our server was very happy to welcome us back and give us a quick run through of the changes in the menu.
For dinner, we decided to order the calamari, the premium oshi trio, salmon aburi oshi sushi, saba aburi oshi sushi, and the champagne roll (one roll too many for the 2 of us!). The calamari was the most underwhelming dish as there was too much batter for my taste. The premium oshi trio was a nice way to try a variation on the salmon aburi oshi and our favourite out of the 3 options was the Japanese waygu and smoked bacon. Then as always the salmon aburi oshi sushi is our gold standard for aburi sushi, that somehow no other restaurant can seem to match the flavour and quality as that of Minami and Miku.
By this point we were so full that we didn't have room left for dessert but we still managed to spend 2 hours there. All in all a very lovely evening with delicious Japanese food, good conversation, and the nicest serving staff.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. Can't say enough great things about this restaurant!
One of the worst services i have ever had, the food took too long to get to our table. We saw people that got there after us being served long before. Took 45 mins to let us know that they where out of some of the items we ordered.
Arrived at 6:45 for my reservation, Didnt get a table until 7ish. After we sat down, no water was served. Was given attention 10-15 minutes later to order. After order has been placed, Kale Gomae came but still no water nor utensils/plates.Requested extra ginger but received wasabi instead. Overall food tasted very delicious and came quick. Expected a better experience from an upper scale sushi restaurant. Especially for a birthday occasion.
Did the Aburi experience and it was excellent. Worth it
The menu is more condensed than it was last time we were there -- no more brussels sprouts! :( -- tho I suppose there are better side/veg accompaniments for Japanese food. Oshi Sushi is still the focus, and there are about 6 kinds, all very good but very expensive. Service is excellent. Decent wine list too.
We had a great time there.
Our waitress was very friendly and gave us beautiful services.
I expected little more design/decorations each plate.
Awesome food! Real Japanese tastes with true Canadian atmosphere. Friendly and professional service staffs made our visit very pleasant.
Wow, wow! Great food and wonderful knowledgeable service.
Everything was delicious as usual!
Best sushi in town.
The Aburi Salmon Sushi is the best sushi I have ever had.
Our dinner was exceptional and we enjoyed the flight of dishes. Each piece of sushi was a mix of fresh ingredients and beautiful artisan offerings.
Very kids friendly
Great food and great service!
Great ambience, service, and food. Food is quite pricey but is worth it for a special occasion. The beef short rib was so tender and to die for.
Pro : aburi Sushi was okay
Con: everything else. Got the zen lunch set, sashimi and poke was not fresh, miso soup was lukewarm, service was not up to expectation, louder than expected as well
I really wanted to like minami. I heard it's one of the best Japanese restaurants in Vancouver, but I was just so disappointed by the food and service. I would not recommend it to anyone.
very amazing we r from trt and We saw the pic from open table then choose the minami to have a try but！！！the oshi trio really surprise us ！！！highly recommaned！！
I wanted to love this place, and I tried really hard, but it was just whelming. Not over or under. I think there are better choices in Vancouver for sushi.
Todo excelente, solo un poco distraídos los meseros, la comida deliciosa con una excelente presentación, la vajilla y mobiliario de muy buen gusto, la atención de las hostess excelente, las personas que entregan los alimentos explican a la perfección el contenido de los platillos
The server was kind of odd and awkward to talk to, she had no smile and no energy. It was almost as if we were keeping her from something better to do... the food is on par with minami standards as we have eaten here countless times and had great service.
Bring back Brussel sprout and bacon appetizer please!
Always a great experience dining here or at sister restaurant Miku.
The holiday tasting menu (Dec '18) was fabulous!
All courses were an absolute delight, delicious and melt in your mouth.
The included dessert (a chocolate cake item) was mediocre, however a cassis and lime sorbet was available and that was much better!
We had a group of 5 and all guests would absolutely recommend the restaurant.
Food was delicious, pricey but worth it overall. Good service. Fairly noisy.
I have been to both Miku Vancouver and Toronto. Minami was very disappointing. I ordered the steak and it was terrible. The veggies were extremely salty, so I notified the waiter. The steak was also very salty and over cooked, nothing special. Once they came back with the replacement veggies, it was still salty and it had a notably more sour taste to it..so they probably added too much vinegar and it was undercooked (probably because they were rushing). The waiter did not offer to do anything about the dish after, as most of it was practically not edible. Disappointing service..
The sushi rice was not good as Miku either. Would not come back again... if you want better food then go to Miku Vancouver.
The service was amazing and the food was incredible. Great experience and would highly recommend it to any sushi lover!
I love Minami. It is truly one of the best in Vancouver. Champagne Roll, Salmon Oshi and Ebi Oshi are my staples. Expensive but I really like it.
Table was delayed to be seated. Upon seating, server did not come for another 15-20 minutes before taking our drink order or food.
Its aburi oshi sushi has always been the best in Vancouver.
I was pretty disappointed in the experience. The food was very bland, although it was beautiful. However I don’t feel that it’s right to have food at 10/10 beautiful and 1/10 flavour. It was very basic for a restaurant that claims to be fine dining and award winning. We left very disappointed, confused and feeling like we “got got”.
All the dishes were pretty good
We had a fantastic quick dinner as usual. The service is great and up to American standards.
