From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.

We live outside of Vancouver, and booked this restaurant well in advance when we know we would be visiting. There were 4 ladies standing at the door, but none of them had a smile nor seem happy to see customers. But as soon as we sat down, our waitress, Felicia made us feel very welcomed and explained the menu and made recommendations. To our surprise, the food came fairly fast even though they had a lot of tables around us. The sushi and sashimi we had were very fresh and delicious. It was a great meal! Felicia's excellent service made up for the 4 hostess when we first came in. In my opinion, the food here tastes better than at its sister restaurant Miku. We will definitely be back again. Note* Maybe dress more business casual. Since we were exploring the city earlier that day, with the usual hike and scenic walks, I felt we were a bit under dressed. Maybe this was why we were not welcomed warmly by the hostess.
Brittany our server was amazing. She was knowledgeable, sweet, friendly to all her guests despite being busy, and made us feel comfortable. I had allergies to stone fruit so she ensured that all my food was prepared allergen free. We had the tasting menu and went all out! High quality food, presentation, and everything was so fresh. One thing thought, the seats by the patio were a little cold but other than that the ambiance , service, and food was on point for a perfect dinner date.
Service was very good, especially from our waitress Tracy who was friendly, gave us time and explained the menu and what the restaurant specializes in. Food was good, however not spectacular and we were expecting better. Certainly for the relatively high price, we’ve had better at other sushi restaurants in Vancouver for less cost.
The atmosphere was good but perhaps a little noisy if you want to have a conversation with people you’re dining with - at least when the restaurant is busy. That seemed to be the case regardless of where you sit.
I had a birthday dinner at minami with my bf on this Monday cuz that’s kind of our special place. But his time the food quality was bad, we were very disappointed. The champagne roll suppose to be warm but it came in cold this time. And also other stuffs, I am not quite sure abt if it’s the chef reason or the whole quality is going down now. I don’t think I would go back after this time.
The food was really good and the staffs there are very friendly and helpful. We arrived a bit late and they arranged us a seat anyways. Very nice place to have a dinner with a friend or a group of friend. Highly recommended!
The service was slow, no one came to ask us do we need any drinks for 5 min after we sat down. The food was no as good as before
Overpriced at best. I won't come back. The front desk asian girl was rude and cold.
Best sushi ever. This is the sister restaurant to Miku in Coal Harbour. The food is unreal- a must try!
The entire experience was amazing, the service was over the top, the food was fresh and delicious and priced according to the value. I would definitely go back! I recommend the sashimi (any!) and the Aburi style salmon! So good.
One of Vancouver’s sushi jewels! The tasting menu and accompanying sake tasting are superb. The freshest local ingredients make this place top-notch. Friendly service where servers and managers make sure you have a wonderfully delicious experience. When I visit Vancouver this will be my go-to sushi place from now on!
Good service and good food except that quite a few of food were sold out after we ordered.
While the price point is on the higher end, it's definitely worth it.
The Red Wave Roll is my favourite and I will sometimes have 2 orders of this.
The Salmon Oshi Sushi is awesome -- and I say this cause I typically will not eat salmon but this is so yummy I always have it.
The Japanese Wagyu and Hickory Smoked Bacon Aburi is also a good treat.
This is one of those restaurants I always go back to, they never disappoint.
Overall, a great experience! Wasn't too busy, service was impecable!
The best sushi i’ve Ever had! A must go when you’re in Vancouver
Great sushi at good prices. Really nice restaurant setting.
Some of the best sushi I've had in quite some time. Cocktails are creative and well done, and the sushi pairing for the tasting menu was spot on. The restaurant gets quite loud as it fills up, so go early if you are looking to have a conversation with your date.
The restaurant was fabulous. Our table was ready right on time. The waitress was very professional. Every dish we had ( about 6 different dishes) were delicious. I would drive an hour for that Salmonoshi any day!!!! So so good !!
Great service and a wide range of sushi choices. Would definitely recommend.
A delightful feast. So much care is put into each dish and the service is attentive. We ate here 2 years ago when visiting Vancouver and we weren't disappointed when we returned.
Outstanding food. Everything we ordered was top quality and well presented. Lovely interior. Shortstaffed and service a little slow. Very noisy for conversation.
Food was excellent will definitely come back. Also recommend it to friends and families for special occasions
We had a great experience but waited quite awhile to be initially served and we were in a rush so it tainted our experience.
Delicious! Highly recommend the Salmon Oshi. And local BC wines are also pretty good.
Nice restaurant though it’s a bit on the pricey side. The service was good and the food was so-so.
The food here is not as good as before.the main dishes were cold and taste below average. The manger is nice though,he asked us what’s wrong with the food.i think I won’t come back anymore
Aburi sushi is consistently delicious.
The food came promptly.
The wine selection has a decent selection.
Parking at this location is not very good. Valet is the way to do it.
Consistent in delivering high quality food
Aburi oshi sushi are so outstanding
As usual, the food at Minami was worth the drive and divine! As we brought friends from out of town, I would have preferred to be a little over serviced vs slightly under as turned out to be the case. We had to request water refills, were drinking alcohol as well, and we needed to request plates be cleared. Our waiter was knowledgeable, interesting and engaging except for the actual server/service parts. We’ll be back as there’s few sushi joints who can compete with Minami’s quality of food!
I had the chef's tasting menu. They were able to adapt it to my celiac sister. It was a fabulous experience. The sake pairing was truly delightful. Totemo oishikatta deshita! Gochiso -sama deshita.
Service was slow and food quality was not spectacular
Great service and friendly staff
Every time we visit Vancouver we come here, although we typically like to try new restaurants. The food is simply exceptional, each and every time. From the sauces to the way the seafood is prepared, the approach is creative and delicious. I will return whenever the opportunity presents.
The quality of the food has went down. I was year about 4 years ago and didnt remember having such a bad experience with the food. I def will not be coming back and won’t be recommending this place to anyone. For the price that you pay, it’s expected that the quality would be better.
Sat on patio, service was excellent.
Start to finish, excellent. Knowledgeable server and an exquisite dining experience.
Wonderful food and exceptional service from our waitress.
We came for dinner on a Sunday at 7 pm, and were seated after 5 minutes.
The area of the restuarant we were seated in was quite loud, and it was very hard to hear one another. The tables closer to the kitchen seemed to be a bit quieter.
We are regulars at their sister restaurant Miku in Toronto and were looking forward to a nice meal.
Our server Jessica was initially quite rude. When we ordered drinks we asked for straws, she informed us that they only had paper straws ; which was fine but she never brought them. We had to eventually ask one of the food runners to bring them for us.
Two people in our party had ordered miso soups, when they arrived we asked the food runner if he could bring us a third. After 10 minutes Jessica came by and we asked about the soup unsure if the food runner had punched the order in, and she gave us attitide about how it takes time to warm it up and would be out soon.
At this point we were getting a little frustrated and that's when the manager Sean came to our table and took over.
Sean has such a wonderful personality and really made the night memorable for us. He was positive and attentive to our needs, and after his appearance Jessica was a lot nicer. We have to note that our food runner Jason was excellent, he should really be a server as he's polite & always smiling.
The food was quite nice and the sashimi we had was lovely. The sablefish fish was cooked perfectly and the shrimp dumpling served with it was a great addition.
The premium oishi with Otoro was quite excellent and something different from the Miku Toronto menu.
The highlight of the meal though was the dessert! Their selection of ice creams and sorbets were fantastic and interesting. It was hard to pick a favourite among all that we tried. Their pastry chefs really shine and provide a wonderful end to a great meal!
Overall it was a wonderful dinner despite the initial hiccup!
The service was lacking here. A tray of glasses was dropped near by our table (shattered glass ended up both on our table top and under near our feet). This was cleaned up right away but there was no apology / no one really asked if we were ok.
There was also no follow up on how our meals were.
The sushi was tasty but underwhelming experience brought our excitement down.
Won’t be returning back here anytime soon.
Bathrooms needed attention.
Will not go back.
Instead will go to sister restaurant Miku.
