From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.
Minami Restaurant offers a dynamic space for both dining and entertaining, including two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden garden patio, and sushi bar.

Food was amazing. Seafood was fresh and our steak entree was over the top. Special thanks to Katie our server who made our experience memorable. Great date night.
Consistent food quality and friendly, reliable service.
My partner and I first visited Minami in 2016 on a trip from London, UK and it was top of our list on a return trip to Vancouver. It’s our favourite sushi restaurant worldwide. We went for the lunchtime premium menu so got to try some of the hot dishes as well. Will be back next time we are in town!
Good food and the ambiance is great for groups. Desserts are amazing! you should try it
Have been there twice and the food was consistently tasty. However, service quality varied a bit. The first time our waiter was friendly and enthusiastic, leaving us with a very happy dining experience. Whereas the second time another waiter served us and was not very personable. The waiter was introducing the items on the Zen lunch set extremely fast and didn't really smile throughout our dining period. We also had to ask the waiter to change our sharing plates after finishing appetizers.
Would come back for the food but hope the service can be more consistent.
This is one of those places I could never afford. Thank goodness to Dine out. The Food was sooo good. The way they make their rice has so much flavour. The service was perfect. Only thing was I was tucked into a corner, didn't get to see much of the restaurant itself.
The chairs opposite the benches were terrible - far to low or bench too high - very uncomfortable.
The noise levels were also bad - acoustic treatments are required.
Food was good but the waitress delivered the food and walked away - we had no chopsticks or utensils- this is suppose to be high end Japanese, the price we paid all of these items menetioned should be looked at.
Good cocktails and very tasty entrees.
Your menu is really good, that is the reason I have brought several friends to Minami. However, I was disappointed this last time; we were celebrating my friend’s birthday (I entered that info when I booked the table, and the lady that waited on us recognized that verbally). But there was nothing offered to my friend during the meal, nothing even small to recognize the celebration. I have brought another friend for her birthday before and she was given a small dessert. I was expecting something, anything this time. Small gestures is what it counts. There are lots of restaurants that offer great food, but those details is what makes you coming back over and over again, details is what makes the experience unique.
Food was on the somewhat expensive side and portions were smallish, but we expected that. Food and drinks were tasty and did not disappoint. The only disappointing aspect of the experience was our server, who came across as a bit snooty and basically ignored us most of the time we were there (and it was early, our reservation was 5:00, not many people yet). For example, she did not check to see how we were doing, and the assistant servers brought /cleared our dishes. When we asked to look at the menu again to maybe order some more, it took forever for her to come back. We got annoyed and decided not to order more, so we left to get dessert elsewhere. I am going to assume other servers would be better, so will give Minami the benefit of the doubt when I say I'd recommend to a friend.
Everything’s really good. Esp the grilled salmon, perfectly cooked
Everything is good as we expected. However, the pork belly in the dineout menu was too oily.
It was great dining experience. Food was really fresh!
The quality of the Aburi salmon oishi sushi has been going downhill. In the past three times I ate there, the rice was too dry. Thank God they introduced a new version that has a spot prawn on it. Avoid the Salomon oishi and get this new dish. It’s $24 for 6 tiny pieces...but way better then the original $16 dish.
The rolls and sushis are amazing! Will be back!
Enjoyed Dine Out Lunch. First course and desert were amazing as was the extra noodle dish we ordered.
I found the second course of sushi quite dry. It seemed like it was made ahead of time.
I would definitely visit this place again! The foods are really delicious, and the environment and service are pretty good!
Came here for Dineout 2019! Very worth the price! Very delicious!!
good service, tasty food, very fresh Uni! liked it very much! Osake pairing was good. will come again!
Really high quality food. Went during Dineout, got good value for the food we received. However, without the Dineout price, the price might not be worth it.
Dine Out Menu was fantastic.
my friends and i tried minami for the first time thanks to dineout. our waiter was attentive and the food was great. each bite got better and better! i’m really grateful that i got to try the dineout menu and i’ll be sure to come back again next time to try the regular menu ^^
The service was incredible from beginning to end. The server was exceptional, explained in detail the dishes, made suggestions and was very open to questions. The food was excellent through and through. Definitely looking forward to my next visit.
We tried dine out lunch. Food was very tasty and the service was nice & fast. I especially like the atmosphere. It gave you a feeling of modern yet cost.
Très bon resto.
Literally the best sushi I have ever had. I was told before coming that it’s very traditional from what you may find in Japan and I believe it. Do yourself a favor and go here if you’re in Vancouver, BC!
Had an amazing meal, and really great cocktails. Will recommend to everyone going to Vancouver!
Service was so so. I have had better service before from Minami and also at Miku. Server knew it was a birthday and didn’t even comp anything. Disappointing actually.
Went to lunch with my sister for the Dine Out lunch menu. The food was delicious, portions were perfectly filling, and the price was right. Always love Minami but the lunchtime dine out was exceptional!!
Great food, atmosphere and service! I noted to our server that sometimes I have issues with MSG and she and the staff were super helpful in recommending and altering a couple of dishes.
Went into the restaurant for my 1pm booking very excited because I had not had Minami in at least 1.5 years. The wait time was a bit longer than I expected— was seated at around 1:20 even though I had a reservation, but I could tell it was lunch hour and it was busy so I didn’t mind so much. Our server (Chris) was amazing and super friendly, he was quick to explain everything to us and take our order. The food was phenomenal as always and I’m overall very impressed once again.
The food and service at Minami never disappoints. I love going during dine out so I can try a variety of dishes and such a great deal. The regular menu is pricier but the food is so good that it's worth the treat!
aburi sushi was cold, the rice was stiff. our filipina waitress seemed to prioritize tables that had ordered beverages over ours, as my friend and i were both driving and choose not to order any drinks, we had a hard time even getting our waters filled.
also, on a separate note, i noticed significant differences in service depending on how i dressed. i had worn clothing with obvious branding and may be interpreted as higher end on prior visits, and the service received had been fantastic. however, this particular visit made me realise banana republic coats and aritizia garb will not cut it. it will be a while before i revisit minami, if at all.
The Dine Out menu was a pleasant surprise. The meal was scrumptious and the service very good.
Very creative and well balanced dishes. Pork belly and salmon were cooked to perfection. Sushi was amazing. Everything was prepared with very high standards.
Went here for the 35 dollar dine out menu. It is quite good. Portions of each dish are small but it is filling overall.
I enjoyed the matcha dessert.
I went to Minami with couple of my friends for Dine-Out Vancouver. The food was delicious and the portion was perfect. One of my friends is allergic to shellfish and mango. They swapped out the food that my friend is allergic to, even tho it's supposed to be a fixed dine out menu. The service was great. We will definitely go back!
Super nice service. My friend has allergy of shrimp and crab. The manager (or supervisor) who came to our table to tell us that they will try to do the best not to cross contaminate. Nice ambience! Good for anniversary. Food is pretty and delicious.
10/10 would come back here again! Love the food! Super delicious and friendly staff!
