From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.
Minami Restaurant offers a dynamic space for both dining and entertaining, including two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden garden patio, and sushi bar.

We had a great time celebrating our friends birthday. The food was great, as it always is. And out server was very friendly and attentive. She made a great drink suggestion for me :)
Food is of the highest quality, took a few different tasting menu and very expensive for the actual amount of fish in them, I found way too much rice in there selection. The price is definitely very high, but if people like creative Maki selection, this is the place
The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the patio was beautiful!
I was told there would be oysters by calling in ahead as well as speaking to the hostess... server told me he had no idea what we were talking about when I asked for oysters and your service was poor.. was waiting around to be served as well as waiting for food while the restaurant only had 10 tables.
It was for my bday and hoped for something better. I had to cut my meal short and go down the street for oysters.
Service was quick and the waiter and waitresses were very kind. Place was quiet so we were able to have a nice conversation. Food was very good and definitely worth the price! Our waiter really took the time to ensure that my allergies were relayed to the kitchen and it made me feel very comfortable eating here. It was a pleasant experience dining here and my boyfriend and I will be back again!
Everything was perfect. It's could be a great place for dating, so I wish to have an opportunity to put guest's flowers in a vase.
Cozy ambiance, clean. Great food presentation.
Fantastic, delicious food. Servers were great and attentive. Atmosphere and noise level were terrible. It was so loud I had trouble hearing the person sitting next to me. If it was for the noise, everything else was great.
great food and service, especially with wine tasting.
The food and location are both great,
Salmon oishi was sublime! And wait staff were really friendly and professional.
The food was great. Waitress was nice and friendly
Great food - fresh as anything. I'd definitely go back for more.
The service was excellent and most of the food was great. I’d stick to the sushi over the grilled dishes, it may have been an off night but the sablefish and everything on the plate was over cooked.
Amazing food with great service.
Outstanding service and remarkably great food.
Had a great time...as usual!
minami is very hardto compare Miku’s spectacular view
As always, it was fantastic! You can't beat the Oishi Sushis, especially the Saba Bo.
We thought the food was overpriced for what we got. It could be compared to a regular sushi joint. Nothing special about their rolls. Also the Entre did not have any flavour. I would not go to Minami again. Service was great but we did not enjoy our meal $130 later.
Awesome food. Excellent quality. Not large portions but left satisfied. Waitress was great at explaining items.
Service was unreal! And so was the food! Restaurant has the perfect location. Can’t wait to go back
Food was not as good as I remembered, but the service and environment was still great!
Multiple tables having screaming competitions. We had to move our table (so did others)
Service was sort of mediocre, the room was extremely loud. We did the tasting menu, which was good- except the dessert course was not very tasty.
Food was great but service was a bit disorganized. It took 40+ mins when we ordered another round of rolls.
It did not seem busy enough for such a delay. May have been an off day. I will return because the food was amazing.
Food is consistently good. A little of a turnover with the staff, so service was not up to past levels. Updated menu is good too. Aburi is our staple when there.
Great experience. Excellent food. Will recommend.
Very nice food
We had a very nice anniversary celebration. The food was very good and the service was enjoyable.
The food is amazing! Waiters/waitresses were very helpful with the menu as well.
One of my dearest life long friends and I hadn't seen each other in four years and so we decided to fly into Vancouver to catch up. As we only had the weekend to visit with one another, we wanted to experience quality dining and restaurants unique to the Vancouver area. Minami was one of our choices, and it did not disappoint! From the uncommon method of ancient sushi construction and its gorgeous presentation, to the outstanding balance of flavour and textures from literally all of the 7 dishes we tried, we were both impressed. We had difficulty deciding which dish outshone the other, a rarity, as each dish shone brightly in its own way! Even the two desserts which we shared, a course that is easily passed in most Japanese restaurants, were some of the best desserts we both had the pleasure experiencing. If you appreciate artfully executed delicious Japanese cuisine with a local twist, don't hesitate to make a reservation! We can not wait to go back on our next trip.
Food was great! Servers and supervisors were super accommodating. The sushi/nigiri chefs were awesome! Overall great experience.
Poor quality fish and rice did not taste good
It was ok, thought it would be better for the price, service was good, but they seemed to rush through everything. Food was good but I think you can get same quality at less expensive restaurants
I had noted on the reservations that it was my son’s birthday & the server greeted him as we sat down and when we finished our meal. Nice touch! We started with Ebi fritters. Tiger prawns lightly battered and fried to perfection. The prawns were so moist & crunchy while the thin batter was very light & crisp. Soy balsamic reduction and sweet chilli harissa mayo was the right touch of sweet, tangy with s little kick. Delish! Next up, calamari. So light, crispy & bursting with flavour, accompanied by fried Brussels sprouts and pickled grape tomatoes! Talk about flavour explosion! We couldn’t get enough of this! Good thing it was a decent sized portion! This is now my all time favourite dish at Minami. The. Best. Calamari. Ever. The abuni beef carpaccio that followed was excellent, too. The sous vide egg, a glistening pearl of a beauty cooked to perfection was definitely the star of this show,. Can’t go wrong with this dish. My usual go-to dish here, the Aburi Salmon Oshi Sushi, was fantastic as usual. Very fresh salmon torched aburi style with a sliver of jalapeño pepper sitting atop perfectly seasoned sushi rice with a thin layer of salmon in the middle. Yum! We were too full to have dessert this time but the green tea opera cake here is truly wonderful & so pretty too!
Minami, like sister resto Miku, will tantalize your taste buds with the freshest ingredients prepared in delightful new ways and accompanied by gracious, attentive, but never intrusive, service.
Always an exceptional dining experience
I would have given 5 stars but the noodle dish was a bit on the salty side. Everything else was outstanding, in my opinion, overall Minami is better than Miku.
So, we came here to celebrate Father's Day luncheon. Ordered the Zen special. It was good. But the bowl of rice we ordered for my daughter came half cooked. The grains hasn't even bloomed. I had no idea how they could've scooped out rice before it was cooked, or was too little water used. Perhaps the person didn't even check to see if the rice was even cooked. For a Japanese restaurant, that's an absolutely no-no. For a high-end Japanese restaurant, that's just... My daughter has inherited my love for rice and when she told me the rice tasted odd, I dismissed it. Until she didn't want to eat it anymore. (which is quite unusual). So I tried a tiny bit. Boy oh boy oh boy. Other than that, our lunch was exquisitely prepared. We loved the dessert, aside from my favorite salmon aburi.
Arrived earlier, 5pm before going to a comedy show. Prompt service, great food reccomendations from our waitress. Every dish was delicious.
