Minami Restaurant
From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.
Minami Restaurant offers a dynamic space for both dining and entertaining, including two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden garden patio, and sushi bar.

Fantastic experience! Best sushi my fiancé and I have EVER had. Staff was super welcoming and hospitable. Chef Melvin was especially very friendly and informative of the dishes he was preparing. We will definitely be back!
I’ve been to so many of high end restaurants in the city. Unfortunately never been so disappointed. Food was good but not anything unique or impressive. Beautiful presentation but that’s not enough when you go for a wonderful food experience.
We ordered lobster special dish. Lobster was definitely overdone and chewy. There was also couple of pieces of red meat on the plate that we absolutely disliked it. It was solid fat. We stopped ordering as we were not pleased with the food and planned to go somewhere else for dinner. We believe we did not get the value of the $$$$ we spent. Green tea dessert did not change our opinion at all. We won’t go back.
birthday experience was bad.
Delicious and creative fare. Brussel Sprouts with Bacon was outstanding.
Consistently Great!
Excellent service with excellent and fresh food.
Repeat customer because the food is always so good!
Unbelievable.
The server was great, not so much the hostess. Excellent food as always!
First time to Minami and tried the Holiday Shokai menu, food and service was good, definitely will recommend to friends and will come back again.

Thank you.
Very fresh delicious sushi. On the expensive side but you get what you pay for. This is more of a fine dining experience.
We had an absolutely lovely experience. The food was beautiful and the service was outstanding. It was above and beyond my expectations.
People who come to more upscale places should not bring their uncontrollable children with them. Not the restaurants fault ......yelling children, just poor parenting.
A little overpriced for lunch
Excellent as always!
Food was good however not worth the price. I’ve had better sushi elsewhere. Went for a birthday and was charged for a birthday cake suggested by the waiter.
Overall terrible experience. Two loud and obnoxious couples felt the need to have a socially distanced dinner together that required them to shout across the restaurant which ended up prevented us from not being able to hear our waitress or each other.
Would have actually ordered a meal but we got something quick to get out as quickly as possible. I assume they knew the manager since he came out to greet them rather than ask to be respectful to the rest of the room (we weren’t the only couple that was frustrated). Completely ruined our evening.
Our server was great! It was busy because closed to Christmas but still received full attention from our server.... other staff not quite — very different experience from Miku where we regularly go
At the top of the Sushi pecking order in Vancouver. Upscale ambiance, top notch experience
Had one of the top 5 meals of my life, the Holiday Shokai menu. Amazing. Expensive, but amazing.
Fantastic food as always - love Minami!
There were some parts of the meat that we enjoyed but for the price I would expect everything you try to be amazing. Some items fell short on quality, made better by a chain like Joeys.
Was a good experience but we agreed we won’t be going back.
Service was truly great. Friendly and informative and you can see they cared to provide a high level of service. Food and drinks were also great. It was my first time, but already looking forward to next time.
Really good food, exceptional service. Highly recommend
We had a fabulous time! The food was amazing and our server Ryan was fantastic!
Pretty disappointing. Long term client of 3+ years and first time back since COVID. Even though we reserved, had to wait 15mins for a table, got situated in a tiny room beside a noisy group. Terrible date night for my girlfriend, tried for a fun anniversary dinner but couldn’t even have a decent conversation with the obviously obnoxiously drunk group beside. Server was good but the quality was lackluster. Oshi were like the usual but the carpaccio was different to what we were used to. Sad that a great restaurant is showing deteriorating qualities. Used to be one of our favorites
The hostess was nice when I showed my dog card. But some white guy started hassling me about the dog which was disappointing because I had been there a week ago with the dog and no problems for 3 hours ordering 7 items. This time I was embarrassed in front of my lunch when it was my turn to pay and I had chosen the place. I will not be going back for a while. Also the crust on the passionfruit dessert was so hard that we needed a steak knife to cut it and I just didn't eat it since I didn't want my teeth to break. The restaurant was so empty. On one hand I feel sorry and want to support local businesses, on the other hand the hostile, unwelcoming nature plus the downward quality of food has me having second thoughts about this place. I was at the grand opening of the sister restaurant so I am really disappointed in how things have worked out in this location.
Excellent service and great food.
A very good option if you are looking for Asian food, excellent quality and a delicious taste. The decoration is very clean modern corporate and the service is excellent
The Minami premium Zen is a perfect choice for lunch. So delicious and at a good price. The place is kept tidy and clean and the staff are friendly and courteous. Looking forward to coming back here again!
New Year’s
Our happy hour service was outstanding. Our server Reza? Resa? Not sure how to spell it but she was absolutely lovely. She was fun and attentive and very careful with covid protocols. She ensured that my friend and I had an awesome experience and a fun happy hour!
Definitely coming back, for the food alone I’m loyal and devoted, but every single thing about the experience was 5 stars
Quite good
Minami is definitely a must-try in Yaletown, however there were some elements which could be improved! Our server was perhaps overloaded but would take a significant amount of time to come visit our table after saying "I'll be right back to assist you". This meant our wine bottle remained unopened and we were uneasy as to if we should open it. Overall however, when attention could be paid to our table, the service was great! I think perhaps giving wait staff smaller sections would let them have the appropriate level of attention to their tables.
Having been to Miku, I expected no less from Minami. Their ebi fritters and chicken nanban were amazing starters; the kanpachi and hamachi nigiri pieces were also extremely fresh.
But of course, the oshizushi is hands down the best here.
Would have scored them a perfect 5, but there were a few other patrons that were a bit noisier. Not Minami’s fault though.
A perfect place for dating. The food is excellent. I had a great time with a cute girl.
it wasn't as good as I had anticipated. There is still room for improvement.
Although we had walked by many times, this was our first visit to Minami. It was fantastic. My partner and I both did the Yaletown tasting menu and we were glad we did. Excellent selection of what the restaurant has to offer especially for our first visit and not being sure about what to get, portion sizes etc. Service was top notch - attentive and good explanations for everything. The set up was very Covid-friendly with plenty of space between tables. We will definitely be back to try it again!
Normally we go to Minami's sister restaurant at Miku but its easier to get a reservation here at Minami. Food and service always good! Never disappoints.
