From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.
Minami Restaurant offers a dynamic space for both dining and entertaining, including two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden garden patio, and sushi bar.

All the dishes were pretty good
We had a fantastic quick dinner as usual. The service is great and up to American standards.
Favourite sushi restaurant. Main entree was average though. Has beef tenderloin but it was very chewy.
Always good! Lunch set is so much food. A bit too much actually and I’m a big eater, but it’s wonderful.
Manager or supervisor on shift took our order after 15 min of being seated. No water, not greeted by anyone else. Server eventually came to our table when we finished our food to take our plates away and took our payment. Not sure if she was new but not the most pleasant dining experience.
Fantastic sushi and drinks. Beautiful spot. One of our drinks came really slow (we had to run to see a show) but our server made it up to us so overall it was an excellent experience. Great date night place as you can share the interesting aburi sushi, and the drink menu is top top as they clearly invested a lot into their cocktail menu to make it interesting. Beautiful space and friendly staff
the front door receptionist attitude was terrible and unprofessional
We had a big party behind us so kind of loud. But food and service were great
Very good, will come again👍👍👍👍👍
Service was good.
A bit dark for dinner to see menu and food.
Food wasn’t good. When I say wasn’t good means wasn’t good as before. I tried them before and they don’t even taste the same. A bit over prized for its location I guess. Noting special and we both got sick maybe from the spot prawn ( running to toilet with tummy pain)
Probably won’t go back again ...place is famous for its aburi oshi sushi , but we were thinking about Victoria Sushi is so much better. Taste better with better prices.
Like the restaurant and food. The food was outstanding and the service good.
We asked a lot of food questions and the waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Good for casual to up scale evening. Not as cozy for romance but still good. Not recommended for proposals though, a bit to open and busy... at least for my liking.
I would definitely return here, to eat again.
We had the most incredible experience!! Our server Felicia was absolutely amazing. She understood that my parents had never experienced Sushi before, and was willing to accommodate their every need. Luckily we were there on a Mon night which wasn't AS busy as it normally is. The food was perfect, and even though we were full after the main course, we all completely licked our plates clean from the delicious desserts. My only issue (with all restaurants in Yaletown really) is that there seems to be no ability to have any conversations as it is always so loud and sound bounces and tables are fairly close together. But otherwise, a perfect experience, and will always suggest Minami to others :-)
The server sent the wrong dish & the took a long time to figure out the mistake..
Poor management,so sad
It should be a nice restaurant and spoil my Holiday
We we’re visiting from Nevada and went on a friends recommendation, interior lovely but cold.
Our friends live here and we’re distraught to here that our experience was not good.
We ordered the chefs taste menu and it was good , but felt like sone of the portions in the bento box were prepared long before we ordered possibly frozen?
It came out so fast it was suspicious!
Anyway we both had bad stomachs after , it’s very hard when you travel and even more disappointing when the place had good reviews, maybe it’s time to delete sushi from our diet!
Ordered the sable fish entree. It was nicely presented but size of sable fish was very disappointing for $40. The portion was 1 1/4 inches by 2 3/4 inches and 1 1/4 inch thick. The food on the plate covered about 1/8 of the 10 inch plate. The rest of the food we ordered was good . Maybe chef misjudged the size.
The table was not ready on time and the food was cold. Not great.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the food was good but not anything special for the value attached. We were also over serviced. We had at least 5 or 6 different employees come to our table, for constant water top ups (when our glasses were already full), delivery of food etc. It often interrupted our conversation and lunch experience and in the end, just became very annoying!
Great service and food .
Everything was delicious. Definitely try the menu tasting as there is a wide variety to sample. The tuna tartar was amazing! Couldn't stop eatting it. I would definitely go back.
Best sushi I have ever had! Our server was very knowledgeable about the food. Had a wonderful experience and cant wait to go back.
Although a bit pricy, it was worth the money. All courses were beautifully presented and all ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. We had a sake pairing with and I highly recommend it.
It was nice!
Very bad service. For the beginning the waitress service is fine, after awhile she never comes back to check our table , I thought she off, at the end we ask for the bill, she just put on the table didn't even say any word at all and left. We try to ask busboy call manager come to our table complain about her. We saw busboy talked to the manager, but the manager(John) worst then her, he didn't come talk to us, he avoid to solve the problem. It was terrible night happened on us.
Place was very loud. Food was good, but a bit on the pricier endz
Mindblowing sushi. Very creative and executed perfectly.
Food is always amazing
Wonderful service, delicious & creative dishes as well as an extensive drinks menu, including a impressive range of sakes. Definitely worth trying the chef's choice tasting menu!
Went for my girlfriend's birthday. Food & service was good overall as expected from Minami. Had the usual assortment of aburi oshi, and also tried the "premium" aburi oshi this time. The premium ones were tasty, but not substantially different in taste from the regular ones. I think it's mainly because they all have a layer of salmon & sauce on the top, which masks the flavour of whatever else is added to it. Next time I'll likely stick to the usual aburi oshi which are delicious! Only other note would be that the table we were at was VERY dark. The table next to us all used their cell-phone lights to even read the menu. We managed to read it using a combination of squinting and candle-light.
The restaurant is way too dark for dinner service. If you're a foodie, a major part of the experience is eating with your eyes, seeing what it looks like, appreciating how it's plated... especially if you're paying extravagant prices. I took my family here to eat for a birthday dinner and my grandma thought the fish roe on her sushi was sand because she could not see it, and it was crunchy when she bit into it. Even though the servers pointed out what each thing was, they all looked the same. I have been here for lunch and the ambiance is much better, although still dim.
Fantastic - as usual. Excellent service. Excellent food. Celebrating a birthday. But never need an occasion for Miname
I much prefer this restaurant to it's sister restaurant, Miku. The ambiance and noise level is much chiller and more pleasant, and the service was great. The menu is similar, but the tasting menu was more fish focused and I appreciate that when at a sushi restaurant.
As usual, Minami is such a wonderful meal. I have been coming here for years and the food is consistently amazing. Presentation is superb, but there is no lacking in flavor. Absolutely delicious meal and great service.
The chef’s tasting menu was a wonderful exploration of the menu. We included wine pairings & they complemented well.
Placed our order, appetizers came out very quick. Main entrees came out delayed. Would have been nice to have the food come out on time so no waiting in between bites.
Persistent fruit flies swarmed the table while we ate. We were sat next to the divider at the edge of the room despite the venue being mostly empty upon our arrival and throughout the meal. Table was wobbly. Felt like we were given the worst seat in the house despite the restaurant being empty.
Food was decent but the overall experience due to the notes above is something I’d expect from an establishment that demanded a third of the price tag
I was disappointed with the champagne roll and the red wave roll. The sushi rice was dry and a bit tough especially on the champagne roll. Not worth the price I paid for these rolls. I also found the tuna tartare dry as well.
Its totally Over priced. Taste nothing special. I rather go to pther sushi places
