Modus might serve Italian food, but refreshingly, no one’s anxious to label it “rustic.” Modus’s menu takes recognizable Italian classics and re-creates them as fine-dining fares.
The restaurant offers an extensive 300-bottle wine program, with seasonally selected wine by the glass. A focus on Italian, Californian and South American wines provides excellent pairing for a fine dining experience.
Behind Modus is Sam Genkov, owner of the 23-year-old District favourite Bravi Ristorante.
Modus Ristorante has two Private Dining Rooms that can accommodate parties of up to 22, 50 and 70 people. AV equipment is also available upon request. Perfect for your next special occasion, whether it is personal or professional, Modus Ristorante can accommodate your needs.View Private Dining Details
I went to Modus the other night night with two friends for dinner. We had a table on the patio. You would never know that York St is next to it as the traffic noise did not exist. A very nice summer dining experience. The staff was very attentive. One had the tuna, the other veal and me I had the mussels. All agreed that it was delicious. Wine selection was very good. Would I repeat a visit to Modus, especially on a beautiful summer evening on the patio, the answer is yes.
Great food and service
My daughter and I enjoyed a quiet and delicious meal prior to going to a concert. Being a Monday in the summer Modus was not busy and the food and service was excellent. I would recommend the lobster pasta and my vegetarian daughter was well looked after with full plate.
Excellent place to host a business function meal. Had a group of 15, and staff was very attentive, food was excellent, and environment was fantastic.
We had a table on the patio on a beautiful sunny day which contributed to our high rating for ambiance. We originally had a table reserved inside but when we asked they accommodated us on the patio which we really appreciated. Was a little pricier than expected/planned but quality of food and service justified it. Very pleasant location for our business lunch.
The food was delicious. The service was even better. The place was dead on a Friday night after 6, because everyone had gone home from downtown for the weekend. They are closed on weekends. The portion size was small for the price, but still very good food.
First time there for my friend. It was a very lovely evening. Ambiance- candles burning, white linen table cloths good lighting. Food delicious, service great.
Always love going to this restaurant as the food is great the service is fabulous, the location is super and it is never too loud I can’t hear the people I’m there to be with!
Very good. Attentive service. Delicious food. A good location for business lunch.
Wow, wow, wow! The service was so excellent it nearly blew us away. Our waiter was meticulous. When we said we wanted to split both entrées, he pulled over a second table so we could comfortably fit “share plates” and our dining table wouldn’t be crowded.
Felt rushed to finish even though the restaurant was not busy. I was still busy with my salad when the main course arrived. This was then placed on a table next to me where it got cold whilst I finished my salad course.
It would have a much better experience all round if we were not so rushed by the staff
We found the food kind of blah, especially given the prices. Service was great, though.
Loved the quite ambience, great service, menu, wine and dessert selection. Perfect for a Business dinner.
We had a delightful supper. Our waiter, Brian, was extraordinary- pleasant, attentive, with several helpful food suggestions.
We shall return soon.
Great atmosphere and awesome food. Excellent for business and special private celebrations.
Great place for a large group. Friendly and attentive service.
Very noisy, expensive and slow. I don’t recommend for a business lunch
Overall was okay. Calamari app was exceptional. Would go back for that. The food was average. On the oily side. Not bang for your buck. Service was below average. Staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there - could have been having a bad day.
We went to Modus prior to seeing Dear Evan Hansen. We are a family of three, our child being 10 years old. Our dinner of steak, spaghetti and meatballs and pasta pomodoro, arugula salad and 3 glasses of wine was over $300—and the food was not exceptional. The service was amazing!!
Fast service pre show
Wonderful restaurant. The food was excellent, but the service was a little slow.
Went for Valentines Day. The food and service was fantastic! Definitely a do over.
Great place for celebrations or nice dinners with drinks
One of the best in Toronto for a business lunch. H
Good service, average food.
It was one of the most disapointing experiences I have had. I normally never foll up on these but feel compelled to do so because it was so extreme I took three clients for 12:15. Our food did not arrive until 1:45. We spent a good deal on lunch and not one offer was made to mitigate nor did management apologize for the unreasonable delay. We maintain lists at our office for recommended dining and we will taking Modus off the list .
I booked the restaurant but was seated in the “lounge”, which is a wide open noisy area which serves as the entry for the restaurant. Unacceptable. Never will go back and open table should insist on better treatment for its clients.
Warmly welcomed , chose to sit at a high top table near the bar, the quietest place in the restaurant. Good and service were great.
I didn't know who my waiter was, we kept seeing new faces every few minutes.
A favorite place for business lunches, always excellent food and service.
Courteous wait staff knew just how much attention to direct our way given the nature of our business conversation.
NYears Price Fix
only appetizers , drinks and music were GOOD
pasta was fine
entrees were HORRIBLE but what could we do w a price fix on New Year’s Eve ?
service was VERY attentive and pleasant
over $540 for 2 adults and 2children
The app lies, they don’t receive us at 9:45, even the app offer us reservations until 10. When we arrive they told us that the kitchen was closed.
Fish both salmon and tuna beautifully presented and delicious. Servers did not rush us but got us out perfectly timed for theatre. Our table was in a quieter area which was appreciated. We will definitely return
Great place and food was amazing but we found it too noisy
The food was very good but the service was exceedingly slow. Overly slow. We had to wait for an hour for our mains. Our server was not apologetic nor did she offer us anything in respect of the wait. It was for a business lunch I organized - so I feel as if I am to blame .
Fantastic!! Had a wonderful meal!! Can't wait till the next time we come to the city!!
My first time here and the service, atmosphere and food was top notch. Have already shared this with executives at work, as a great place for a holiday meal!
Very good pasta, pleasant ambiance, attentive wait staff, good selection of wines both in bottles and by the glass.
Restaurant is nice with an upscale feel and an open kitchen. Food was very good. Wine list extensive, but expensive. Service was great to begin with, but after our meal we did not see our server for quite a while and had to forgo dessert and coffee to get to the theatre. The restaurant did not seem particularly busy, but assuming the uneven service was unusual, I might try the restaurant again and would likely recommend it.
