Loved the food and the chefs, a,though the first few courses came before our cocktail, which I don't like... The other thing is why ask if it's a special, occasion if you don't acknowledge it. It was our 29th wedding anniversary on that date yet no one except the two couples beside us iacknowledged it. Why bother asking.? The Matre d. Said everyone has a special occasion, which kind of insulted me. Would it have killed you guys to offer up two glasses of prosecco? I think not. Many other restaurants do and the customer is not paying. 125 a person plus drinks...which we had a lot. Just something for you guys to think about.

This was my second time at Shoto's Chef Tasting. I love being able to watch them make the dish in front of you and the explanation of each dish. The service and food is exceptional. I would highly recommend the Chef's tasting.

Been a number of times. This time was lacking. Under seasoned. Wine pairings were only ok and how they were presented was rushed and ill-informed. I'll be back because I've enjoyed the previous visits. If it happens again, I'll need to reassess.

Had flowers delivered for my wife. Restaurant told delivery person I had no reservation. Florist was across the street. I ask for the restaurant to run across the street and pick up the flowers. They refused. I had to pick them up myself. Surprise ruined.

The tasting menu is fantastic, with a great team and a wonderful open kitchen. Great to see how the food is prepared and plated in front of you. Everything is explained and we asked loads of questions and they were happy to answer. I would recommend the wine pairing as this will give you a number of fantastic wines to enjoy with the meal. Certainly not an everyday experience but well worth it for a special occasion.

The best meal we had in toronto! Everything was done incredibly well with top notch taste and precision! If anything, I wanted some bread to soak up every broth and sauce from every course. Please go! You won't be disappointed

5 stars on all fronts. What a great way to do a testing menu by watching the food as it is prepared! Everything from food to service to atmosphere was perfect. Staff were so professional, efficient and helpful yet not pretentious.

The experience was great. Loved the setup, facing the kitchen and the chefs and watching them prepare the dishes. The service was also great, always filling up our waters and pouring our wine. For the price, it wasn't a lot of food. We were still a bit hungry after the meal, even after we had requested more bread.

The tasting menu at Shoto was stunning. They were pretty much all amazing dishes but the one thing I couldn't stop thinking about was the sourdough bread and sweet butter!! Wonderful experience, the pace was great and amount of food was perfect. Pricey but a nice treat once in a while.

We went for my wife's birthday and it was absolutely spectacular. The attention to detail is impressive, and each dish is perfectly presented. A magical night for anyone wanting delicately plated, beautiful food. It's expensive but worth it. Dinner for two plus wine/cocktails pushes $400 so be warned. Would go again without a doubt.

My fiancé and I came to Toronto for a concert and some time away from the kids and decided to try out Shoto. It was simply amazing. The food was unreal and was just enough. The presentation was gorgeous and the knowledge of the staff was superb. We also chose to have the wine pairing as well and it was well done. We had an amazing beer to start us off that was suggested to us and we both loved it and the complexity of it. It was a great palate cleanser between courses. We were extremely impressed and would definitely go again.

Fantastic experience with tasting menu of local seasonal products and exceptional wine pairing, bar seating, occasional delicious kimchi coming by out of the open kitchen where highly trained professionals but most of all motivated chefs have your dishes prepared. Thanks David Chang for your initiative and all your employees for the skills used for and love you put in to your dishes. Pieter (attendee of Flight Operations Steering Committee of Bombardier).

Testing menu is so good! I like it! Like artworks! The team worked together and cooperated very well. The view of the work environment is a good scene. My favorite food is "pickled mussels". My friend and I had an enjoyable dinner time. Everything was remembered deeply.

The single fixed menu has (on two occasions now) delivered a thrilling, expansive, delicious, and wholly satesfying dining experience. The single U-shaped bar wraps around the compact and bustling kitchen, where the kitchen brigade provide great theater. All dishes are presented and efficiently illuminated by the chefs themselves. Knives, forks and chopsticks are effortlessly rotated for each course by an attentive waitstaff. The wine pairings are highly recommended. Finally the people-watching is world-class as this most reserved restaurant in the complex seems to only attract interesting people seeking an interesting sensory experience.

This was our second time here in 3 years. The first time blew us away. This time, we had a lovely dinner, but I don't think it was worth $500 (with bottle of wine, tax, and tip.) We've experienced it, seen how the menu has progressed through different chefs, and are excited in the future to experience other tasting menus in the city.

Overall, this was a really fun and worthwhile experience. We had a great time. It's certainly an expensive night out, but if you love food, and enjoy new flavors, and want to do it in a relaxed and upbeat environment, this restaurant should be on your list.

As other reviewers have pointed out, for more than two people, this could be awkward due to the bar seating. For two people, being up high and being able to see the chefs was interesting.

The bar staff were super attentive and friendly - I appreciated all the little details like taking the wine list away when I had a fresh glass, and bringing it back just before I finished my drink, and quietly clearing and replacing utensils after every course. Each course was served by the chefs. This is the only area where I feel like they could do better job. I found they spoke too quickly, and were often hard to understand. After several courses we turned to each other and said "what did they say?". Since there are so few diners, it would also have been nice to hear a little more about the dish, if it's a rare ingredient, what it is it, where is it from, etc.

We will definitely be back - for a special dinner, it was a treat.

This was our second time at Shoto. Both were great experiences. We are always up for a good tasting menu. Every course was outstanding, the creativity impressive, the service and explanation of each course excellent. Only disappointment was that it was only 10 courses. As far as tasting menus go, well worth the price. Seating plan suits couples better than large groups. A party of four could work if situated around one of the two corners of the hoseshoe bar.

My husband and I were visiting Toronto for a few days and had read so many rave reviews we knew we'd love to try it. We were not disappointed. We opted to add the wine pairings which were just phenomenal. The food was creative , with lots of different flavor profiles all blending in unexpected ways. The wait staff was very attentive. Removed plates seamlessly keeping the pace with us. The chef introduced all the courses and was happy to answer questions. Something to keep in mind, is a chef's bar, so there is some food smoke and noise. Perfect for 2 maybe 3, but not more in my opinion. We will certainly be back when we visit again!
