The food was very good, but to me not as good as it was a few years ago. Due to the pandemic, I had not been there in the past 2-3 years. Also, there are rivals regarding French cuisine in the city of Washington. Service was a problem. The staff is so focused on their assigned tables, that is was extremely difficult to stop any other server with the simple request: COULD I HAVE ANOTHER SPOON? This did not go over well to me, although the person who took our orders originally came forward, apologized, and I had no objection to this hospitality skills.

Great food. Good service. Willing to substitute items. Interior old-school charm with dark wood, high ceilings, multiple areas. Also has outdoor seating. Definitely our go-to for a nice meal in downtown Bethesda!

Overall the meal was meh. Everything but the food was lovely but the food wasn’t good. I’ve been here before and it was better. But this time,no. I asked the server for all the food at once. Didn’t happen. I asked what kind of pasta was served for the kids meal, he told us elbow, it wasn’t and it wasn’t even good. I asked for a salad without the salmon because I was getting a steak but wanted a spinach salad, couldn’t accommodate. So overall I wasn’t pleased and will probably think twice before returning. Sorry, just being honest.

First time back since covid started and great to see the food is still excellent despite the limited menu. Sorry quiche Lorraine didn't make the revised menu, but gazpacho and mussels are still great. Wonderful service. Hope to be back again soon.

It was a busy holiday evening but the server took good care of us. We had to send the fries back as they weren’t hot, but they never are the first time. We were delighted to get a table outside on a beautiful night.

We have been going to Mon Ami Gabi for over twenty years, and it is very clear that the passion has gone out of this restaurant. The quality of the menu itself, the food choices (or lack thereof) are noticeable and I am really tired of this nonsense blaming COVID for everything. For twenty years they have had oysters, now no more - why? I will not accept a lack of oyster checkers as an excuse anymore - find some. I am tired of the waiter telling me that they may have a nice wine list but most of the wines will not be available. Net - net - this restaurant needs to pull up its socks or it is going to go the way of the dinosaur!

We’ve been here several times before, so I’ll just say that the goat cheese and tomato app, as well as the burrata and olive app, were delicious. If I could make one suggestion, it would be that a baguette and butter should be a part of the table setting, instead of charged as an appetizer. Great service by Jack, as well as the many people who passed in and out of the room. We appreciate the lack of apparent hierarchy; everyone does whatever is needed to provide service when they see a need (filling water, clearing plates,etc.). We also appreciate leaving plates on the table until everyone is done eating! Merci beaucoup!

My family has been going to your restaurant for many years. I personally always get the Skate Wing. This year it was mushy and I did not like it. I thought the price of the bread was excessive and the tables were too close together. I do not think we will be returning.

Service was less than expected. Our waiter rushed us to order, failed to check back when the food came to see if we wanted anything else, and failed to provide my guest with a refill of his soda except ti use the same glass. I would think an second glass wouldn’t break the bank.

Food was okay. Ordered the Chicken Liver Pate and charged extra $2 for French bread. I expect bread to come out with it to at least cover the volume of pate. Entrées were great: ordered the skate and the steak and frites. Delicious. I would say service was pretty disappointing. Seemed like the server was having a bad day and didn't really seem interested in getting us interested to order more. Rather seemed to want to rush us out. Most likely won't come back since the food was expected for the price, the ambiance was mediocre, and the service was subpar. Other places I'd probably go back to or explore.

The hanger steak frites was very good as always, and my steak was cooked a proper medium rare. The frites are outstanding. However, I couldn’t help but notice the portion is half the size of what it used to be, but the price was the same so the value has decreased significantly. It almost looks like I received a lunch size cut. See photos for insight. These are both the hanger steak frites, and both instances were for dinner. Overall still a great meal.

Service was excellent, friendly & mostly efficient. Appetizers were plentiful & delicious: mussels were divine❤️ Pâté was excellent with a nice section of cornichons & other pickles. Great food and service. Wonderful outdoor tables very well managed on a busy very windy day. They are very adept at taking care of large groups as well as many small tables outside while also having a busy crowd inside. Chocolate Mousse was fantastic as always. Open for lunch all week not just brunch on weekends.

This was my second visit to the restaurant in less than a week, both to celebrate the special occasions. On my first visit I sent my steak back because it was overcooked and the waiter returned quickly enough to get me my meal before my family had finished theirs. For the second time, which was an anniversary, my chicken arrived hugely overcooked. And two relatively small pieces for $26. My waiter who had been attentive at first was nowhere to be seen for a good 10 minutes. By that point there was no point in sending it back. So disappointing on the food and disappointing on the service. I’ve been going to the restaurant for over a decade and this appears to be a bit of a pattern. Disappointing.

This is our go to place in Bethesda. The only thing that bothers me is the SURCHARGE they continue putting on all of their locations. We ask for the charge to be removed. There is not one other restaurant we have dined at during these last 2 years that has assessed a surcharge and that includes the family owned to large corporate/multi restaurants like Mona Mi is apart of. We tip over 20% even if the service is average because we understand the staff shortage. Otherwise, food consistent and very good, and love sitting outside.
