    We were visiting from San Francisco and had to rely on reviews when putting together my daugther's 21st Birthday Bar Crawl list (5 stops). The Monarch was the last stop on our list and two short blocks from our hotel, so location wise it worked out great. Because stops 3 and 4 left a lot to be desired after stops 1 and 2 set the tone for an exciting evening- we needed the Monarch to live up to its’ hype! I am so grateful that the Monarch lived up to the great reviews that were posted. Not only did Gwen reach out to me beforehand to acknowledge the Monarch was happy to help celebrate my daughter's 21st Bday; the security at check-in acknowledged her bday once we gave them our name per the reservation. It was a very nice touch! Once upstairs our waitress (Tamesha sp??) was waiting for us with complimentary Champagne and again my daughter's bday was acknowledged. She received a free bday shot called, "Birthday Shot." We were very well attended to and the music was great. The food was great. The environment was great and on a cold December night the outside views were even great!! All in all the team at Monarch was very kind in acknowledging and assisting with celebrating my daughter's 21st Bday on her very first Bar Crawl. It was a great place to end the night!

    We visited for drinks, my booking apparently wasn’t on their list and when I showed them my message they told me I had the wrong month.... (I didn’t) It’s a trendy rooftop bar very noisy and probably more suited for younger people looking for a bar with music.. We sat outside was asked if we would like to heater on and being 8.30pm on a night in October we said yes, then to be told it was broken!! Overall not a great experience but great view of The Empire State Building...

    The view from this bar was fantastic and the vibe was fab but the service was poor. Couldn't find our waitress and was told off by bar staff when I went to order drinks at the bar instead so we left.

    I was there with some of my old coworkers and we had a good time however, the drinks were watered down- I went home with a $600 bill and no buzz. I would not recommend this place for drinks or food. There was a special HH menu from 2-4pm but by the time I got my bill at 7pm; the bartender charged me full price. Nice cute rooftop but the drinks are overprices !

    Made a reservation for 5:30pm was on time for it. Since it rained, all of the seating is now in disarray. Our table was given to another group. We are now seated in a tiny corner. I wasnt happy and now they put us in another tiny corner in the aisle by the bar. We didnt like it so we left. Without the outside bar and seating available, this venue is not setup for groups.

    I contacted Monarch a week before our visit since our group of 5 were planning to celebrate a special occasion. I was emailing back and forth with Maria from Monarch who confirmed our reservation and provided information. She stated that we would have a $200 minimum that we could spend on food and beverages. When we arrived, the hosts on the ground level could not find our reservation and sent us up to speak to the hostess. The hostess found our reservation and proceeded to tell us that our minimum is actually $300 and we have to spend it on a bottle. I told her I had spoken with Maria who said it was $200 and could be spent of food and beverage. She insisted, but then agreed that we could spend the minimum on food and beverage but she wouldn’t reduce the $300 minimum. She also proceeded to say that we could only sit at the table for 1 hour and the kitchen was closing in a few minutes. Horrible experience. We walked out and will never return again.

    Wanted to try something different, rather than just going out to a restaurant before a concert at MSG. I thought a rooftop bar might be fun instead...I was wrong. We had a 6:30 reservation and was told to wait on insanely long line outside and they would get to us. When we got upstairs the place is packed and no tables available. We waited about 15 minutes and a table opened up about a foot from where we were waiting, so only a few steps away from the host stand and the garbage bin filled with beer bottles. Our waitress was very nice and took our order quickly, even had to make our drinks as the bartenders were very busy. We ordered 3 apps... which by the time we left at 8:15 we had only received 2 of. In fact as we were waiting for the elevator we saw our shrimp dumpling go by and a confused waiter wondering why no one is at that table.

    The hostess and waitstaff were very rude. We made a reservation for five and were given a small cocktail table with two chairs. We tried to ask the hostess for a bigger table so we could sit and eat and she was very rude and would not accommodate us. Making a reservation was pointless. We did not stay.

    The management of Monarch is to be commended. I took my husband there for his birthday on July 4th. The place was pandemonium given the holiday. However, our name was on the list so we walk right in. Our table was ready within minutes. And they even made sure we had special access to the restrooms and elevator when we were ready to go. This is what separates the boys from the men. The girls from the ladies. Monarch is first class all the way.

    We arrived right at our reservation time but had to wait 20-30min to get seated and was told they only had a table with one stool (we were a party of two) but eventually someone brought us another one so we could both sit. It was just way too crowded around 6pm and they were not managing well. Otherwise the drinks, food and view was amazing!

    Our server was wonderful, the management was TERRIBLE! First they gave one of our tables away right before our reservation. They then improvised a bad section, which I requested be modified. They ended up giving us a slightly better section (still too small of a standing area for 15 people, but whatever). One of my guests was turned away for his shorts. He went and purchased new pants, then we noticed SEVERAL gentlemen wearing shorts at the venue that were let in with no problem at all. Also, somehow nothing was communicated about my credit card authorization form and the payment details for the evening even though I sent all information in earlier that afternoon. Luckily, I had a hard copy of the document with me since whoever helped me did not follow through on their end at all. They switched out our original server (she was nice too) out of nowhere and she knew all the info about our payment and details, but they didn’t let the new server know. Everything was a complete mess with how the payment was supposed to end up and it did not reflect the contract I gave them for payment. Some of the food we ordered also never came out, even though we were there for almost 3 hours! However, our lovely server was amazing...she should definitely work somewhere else! Also, I emailed and asked for the name of a GM so that I can speak with them about all of these issues and of course no one has gotten back to me. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. This is the second time I’ve come here and not been impressed with how things are run. Not coming back.

    My Fiance and I went for his birthday. We made a reservation and no one knew or seemed to care for our reservation. We ordered off of the menu that was very limited. When we ordered the waitress told us they were out of the guacamole. We then ordered the wings and she came back and informed us that they were out of the wings as well. We then asked her what they had as apposed to us being informed yet again that they didn't have what we wanted. She told us they had dumplings? We said sure as we were hungry. The dumpling came out and we ate them and all of a sudden the guacamole and wings came out. We were so confused. We were then given the bill and the bill came out to $190 for three little plates and two drinks. NEVER AGAIN. I don't mind spending $500+ for dinner but I do not like spending money on food/experiences that are not worth it at all. Honestly I was so disappointed as this place came recommended.

    It started with the guy with the clipboard downstairs he was a tad bossy...Which was fine because I guess he had to keep control. Upstairs was great! Great view great food great drinks. Then it came time for bathroom and leaving. This guy was out of control yelling at you for being in wrong line, not the way want to end the night!

    This place is awful. It is appealing because of the view, but the pictures are misleading. This place is SMALL. Went here with 2 other friends thinking we were gunna get good food that will fill us up. I was wrong. The tacos were about an inch long, the skinny lobster rolls were about 2-3 inches long. We spent a lot of money to still be hungry after we ate. I know they’re supposed to be “small plates” but I wasn’t expecting them to be bite size. Also, we had a reservation. But about midway through our visit, a hostess was going table to table asking if people had reservations. Why? What were they going to do if someone said no? Kick them out? Seemed very snobby of them to do. Regarding service itself, it could’ve been better. The restaurant is very small so the tables are very small. Now knowing this, you’d think the servers would be on top of clearing the table? We would’ve liked to order more drinks or food but once we finished something, the servers were very slow to take things away, so we had no room on our table for more! They only removed stuff once we asked them too. I would not return to this place.

    Atrocious crowd - immature, people doing cocaine in the bathrooms, obnoxious. Our server did her absolute best, but if you’re going to be available for reservations, I shouldn’t have to wait 20 minutes to be seated after arrival only to be told that the hostess needs to “see what we have.” What? I made a reservation...? Why should you have to see if my table is available? If you can’t manage the crowd of 20 something cocaine-infused idiots, then just don’t do reservations. NIGHT and day difference from the work week crowd and the weekend crowd. Avoid at all costs on the weekend.

    The place was set up for winter , which creates a very nice atmosphere. It was a bit cold but we were lucky to sit by the heater. My reason for the negative review is they unplugged our heat lamb so they were able to plug in a heat lamb of a bugger party. When I pointed this out. They just said it was broken. It wasn’t broken. I looked. It was unplugged.

    Arrived to find my table was in the hallway by the elevator. So much for the “spectacular” views. Another couple arrived to find they had the same seating. They left, as did I. Cannot believe they would think tables in the hallway by the elevator are acceptable to anyone. If you go there, ask first if you have hallway seating.

    Booked the table on Open Table for my wife's bday and got a confirmation. The next day the restaurant called and said they are not open due to a private event. I was left scrambling around for a last minute change of venue.

    This turned out to be a perfect place for happy hour for my team. Everyone had a great time, drinks were good, food was good and the staff were a bit slow but very friendly. I definitely recommend
