This is one of my favorite brunch place in downtown Toronto, with nice ambience, good food & good service. I believe it is also a good one for dinner as well. Definitely will go back.
First review, honestly felt compelled. Couldn’t chew threw my main. Don’t eat the steak, you actually can’t. Wine selection is good. Pass on everything.
Went for Valentine's Day. It was pretty good. Maybe a little higher price point than it should have been. Quality of the cut of steak was pretty low. My fiancé had a huge tendon that went through the center of her steak. I had to actually cut it for her to take it out cause she couldn't even cut it herself. Her steak was also quite tough and was cooked medium rare which also was most likely due to just a bad cut. My steak was good. Could have been a fluke that she just happened to get one bad one. Everything else was good, not unbelievably amazing, but good. Service was fast and efficient. Our server wasn't very personable, didn't even introduce himself, but he was always available (or someone was... good teamwork).
Decent food and service.
Great restaurant, excellent service and menu. Wait staff was excellent.
Overall the service was slow. We had to ask for lemon for our water three times and it took about 20 minutes to arrive. When the food arrived (we were there for a birthday lunch) the bun on one of the burgers was frozen. There was little attention to drink top up. This was a birthday meal and no cake was presented (?) to the person celebrating the birthday even though it was mentioned and put into the online reservation. Considering this is supposed to be a higher end restaurant that was competing with more cost efficient Winterlicious in the area, the pricing was not synonymous with the service or the food. Sadly.
I’ve been here several times, always amazing. This night the food was a little off from previous visits, Good but not special.
This is one of our go to restaurants. However this last time we were quite disappointed. The service was outstanding and the appetizers were great but the Entree's were not great at all. In fact I had the lamb and it was two little bites and the rest was fat. I had to eat when I got home. The bill was very expensive for what we had for the three of us. I am not sure if you changed Chef's but it has definitely changed over the last few months. There are so many choices in Toronto and we loved going here but we will have to think twice before we return again.
I wish I could be more positive. The service was outstanding.
Very good service
While the food was very good as was the service; the value just wasn't there. Two beet salads ; 2 pasta dishes and 2 glasses of wine came to $200 after tax and tip. I honestly don't think we were gouged in any way. It's a sad reflection on the out of control rents that owners have to pay in Toronto. Especially in the downtown core. Can foresee a lot of restaurants going under in the next few years.
Great food and great service. Will be back
The kale salad and Montecito chicken was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff were super friendly.
Disappointed that 2 other tables where seated on either side of us when there where empty tables in the area we where seated in. The constant disruption of the waiter serving both tables on either side of us made it difficult for us to enjoy our conversation and relax.
Montecito is a sure bet for excellent food and great ambiance. Everything was done to perfection.
Our group thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The duck, pork chop, cod and trout were all delicious, as were the broccoli and brussels sprouts sides. Everything was well prepared and flavourful. Our server was attentive and entertaining. We all had a great dining experience!
Service was excellent and everything was served in a timely manner. The food was fresh, presented well, and delicious. We really enjoyed the California inspiration and farm to table cuisine.
one of my favourites for the great food and casual california style
We've been back many times, and it never disappoints. The Kale salad is a must. The entrees are all superb. And the homemade desserts are to die for. Lovely ambiance, and great service. Plus, all at a very, very reasonable price. What more could you want?
Fantastic food, ambience and service!
Really nice concept restaurant, beautifully designed with high ceilings and a very diverse menu. Food is delicious and service is friendly, knowledgeable, and polished.
Food was ok. Ambiance was pretty quiet,
I had a great time with the fam for my bday. They even personalized our menus with a “happy bday” msg for my brother and I (it was both our bdays). Thanks for an amazing evening!
Food was underwhelming. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
Pork chops, Duck and chicken were amazing. Side orders (potatoes and mushrooms) were a little too much food for three people but delicious anyway. Large black and white pictures of owner/director/producer Ivan Reitman with famous actors (John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Murray, Robert Redford, etc). Great ambience and service. Park at 27 Windmer St (parking lot sign shows #27, at the #21 Windmer building).
Great Christmas present to my family before a show. Everyone loved their meal. We arrived early and they sat us in the bar area to wait where we enjoyed drinks. At end of meal I realized I was overcharged for a bottle of wine and they graciouslg fixed the error promptly. Can’t wait to return!
This was an amazing venue! I’ve been a few times and there will be more times to come! Staff are exceptionally knowledgeable with the menu and they have wonder suggestions on what’s best! Love this place!
We booked this restaurant for a business lunch. The room was quite noisy.
Our server had a senseless face and no smile at all.
We ordered the Montecito Board for the appetizer, which came on a big piece of wood but very small portions of cheese and few very thin slices of charcuterie.
All our main courses were cold. Montecito chicken was so dry and tasteless. We also ordered the steak sandwich. The bread was half burned and turned black. The steak was burned on the outside and totally raw inside. We had to return it and they did not charge us for that
The kale salad and the coffee were good.
The service here and food never disappoint. The wait staff is attentive and always does their best to take care of us. The one area of improvement is with regards to sharing clear information about the parking and what needs to be done in order to have it validated and discounted.
Very disappointing. Normally one of my favourite places but this time the service was poor, and the food mediocre and not hot.
Hoped for so much more. Wanted something new, close to theatre, which this is. Service was just TERRIBLE. Waiter clearly didn't know the menu and we were left waiting for drinks forever. Just after they arrived, or meals arrived. SO weird. Felt like I was at Kelsey's. With so many other options, I wouldn't recommend or return.
I’ve been before and always had a positive experience unfortunately this time 2 plates of chicken were cold and undercooked. Staff handled it well and we were not charged but for a venue such as this the food she be better :(
All was amazing
I have bee. To this restuarant a few times.....every single time the only thing that's negative is the service. ...I never see happy faces from any waitress at the resturant
We went to Montecito for a pre-theatre dinner, three of us were from out of town. A staff member called in advance to ask if there were any allergies, or if it was a special occasion. I requested that they inform our server that we needed to have our bill paid by 7pm because of the theatre - no problem. From the moment we walked in staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress was delightful, genuinely upbeat and helpful. All four of us ended up with the same dinner and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The wine we chose was also exceptional. We had a short walk to the theatre but it started pouring rain, so we asked about getting a cab. It was a busy Saturday evening but the hostess insisted on coming out in the rain to hail us a cab. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I plan to return. Thank you to all Montecito staff!
Great time, would recommend to check it out
Was really psyched for this- until we sat down, got asked to move, got our starters and wrong drinks. Followed by just soda drinks when we asked for some alcoholic ones. Let's not add to the fact that they just kept messing up the drinks. Here comes the main course.....guess what. Dry. Dry. Dry. Your best bet is the charcuterie board, that was the only hit of the night. For the amount of money you're paying- go across the street.
Once again a super meal at Montecito. The best farm to table offerings in the city.
An excellent restaurant, which we visit every year while in the city from the UK. The food is excellent, and well complemented by a great wine list. The service is excellent, and on this occasion, we were well advised on wine & time for our food to be prepared (we shared a large steak, which required extra cooking time).
I also asked to add an extra person on arrival, which was no problem at all.
I will be back next year.
Awesome meal. Excellent service. Only disappointment was the server suggested the meatballs as a shared apple, and it arrived with three meatballs for four people.
Food was very tasty.
Dessert tray was a little underwhelming.
