Very disappointing. Normally one of my favourite places but this time the service was poor, and the food mediocre and not hot.
Hoped for so much more. Wanted something new, close to theatre, which this is. Service was just TERRIBLE. Waiter clearly didn't know the menu and we were left waiting for drinks forever. Just after they arrived, or meals arrived. SO weird. Felt like I was at Kelsey's. With so many other options, I wouldn't recommend or return.
I’ve been before and always had a positive experience unfortunately this time 2 plates of chicken were cold and undercooked. Staff handled it well and we were not charged but for a venue such as this the food she be better :(
All was amazing
I have bee. To this restuarant a few times.....every single time the only thing that's negative is the service. ...I never see happy faces from any waitress at the resturant
We went to Montecito for a pre-theatre dinner, three of us were from out of town. A staff member called in advance to ask if there were any allergies, or if it was a special occasion. I requested that they inform our server that we needed to have our bill paid by 7pm because of the theatre - no problem. From the moment we walked in staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress was delightful, genuinely upbeat and helpful. All four of us ended up with the same dinner and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The wine we chose was also exceptional. We had a short walk to the theatre but it started pouring rain, so we asked about getting a cab. It was a busy Saturday evening but the hostess insisted on coming out in the rain to hail us a cab. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I plan to return. Thank you to all Montecito staff!
Great time, would recommend to check it out
Was really psyched for this- until we sat down, got asked to move, got our starters and wrong drinks. Followed by just soda drinks when we asked for some alcoholic ones. Let's not add to the fact that they just kept messing up the drinks. Here comes the main course.....guess what. Dry. Dry. Dry. Your best bet is the charcuterie board, that was the only hit of the night. For the amount of money you're paying- go across the street.
Once again a super meal at Montecito. The best farm to table offerings in the city.
An excellent restaurant, which we visit every year while in the city from the UK. The food is excellent, and well complemented by a great wine list. The service is excellent, and on this occasion, we were well advised on wine & time for our food to be prepared (we shared a large steak, which required extra cooking time).
I also asked to add an extra person on arrival, which was no problem at all.
I will be back next year.
Awesome meal. Excellent service. Only disappointment was the server suggested the meatballs as a shared apple, and it arrived with three meatballs for four people.
Food was very tasty.
Dessert tray was a little underwhelming.
Great food lovely place and excellent service.
Since I’ve only been to Montecito once I can’t say much more than the food was delicious (short ribs), service efficient and attentive with just the right amount of friendliness . The restaurant’s interior is well thought out and it supports having decent conversations. The whole experience was very enjoyable.
Was the perfect pre-theatre meal for foodies. The Ontario burrata was sublime, as was the beet salad. Portions were larger than expected and the pizza crust was some of the best I've had outside of Italy - light and crispy! And don't get me started on the pear ginger cheesecake. My mum who doesn't traditionally enjoy cheesecake couldn't help taking a second bite and I all but can't wait to revisit this restaurant for the dessert alone.
Lovely! Our friends enjoyed Montercito and like us will return soon for the good food and friendly service!
I love Montecito!! Had a great experience, except for our waiter who wasn’t very friendly.
Switched waitresses in the middle of the meal without any mention to us. Waited about 30 mins to order dessert. Menu said “heirloom tomatoes” for burrata appetizer and they served regular tomatoes. That’s unacceptable.
A great spot for a pre theatre meal. Interesting menu with unique and flavourful options. The squash agnolotti was delicious as was the pecan cake. The wine list, while extensive, was overpriced.
Great Everything! Highly recommend and will definitely return.
Excelente food and service!
My friend and I had dinner here last week. We had fresh cod. It was delicious! We needed to catch up, as we hadn’t seen each other in ages. I told our server that, and we spent at least one hour talking and drinking wine before ordering our dinner. We were not disrupted.
Delicous food and exceptional service. Creative organic vibe.
Great unpretentious service, portion vs price excellent for quality served.
Very much enjoyed this restaurant and would highly recommend it. The food was excellent, particularly the pasta which they make fresh in-house. Excellent wine list, and beautiful setting.
Bigger portions for lunch, beautiful restaurant, lovely plates and lovely food but I left a little hungry and that is a minor tragedy.
We had a wonderful Birthday dinner . We had the kale salad , a must, and the charcuterie board was delicious with a wide variety of tastings . The rabbit and gnocchi was excellent and the duck was incredible !
The Black Forest cake and cocktail coffee was the cherry on top ! The cheesecake was also a hit. I highly recommend eating here if you want a memorable dining experience.
One of the best dining experiences we have had. The Fogo Island turbot and risotto was sensational. Perfect timing with the service
Nailed it from start to finish! Went with my wife for pre-theatre dinner on our anniversary. I let them know when I booked and requested a romantic spot. They greeted us warmly, took us to a cozy corner booth and welcomed us with complementary champagne. Cocktails and appetizers were fantastic - staff helped us ensure a great pick. By the glass wines were top notch - perfect for pairing with the different meals we had. I can hardly wait to return!
I made the reservation based solely on the close proximity to the Princess of Wales Theatre. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful our experience was. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and most of all, the volume of the restaurant was manageable. I would highly recommend Montecito!
Service was great but food was so so. Not the best value and they charge $9 for bread :(
I really liked the ambience and the attentive service. The staff really made a special effort to make sure we were out in time for our theatre time especially considering we were late for our reservation. Unfortunately I did not find the food that great. It was just ok and for the price I think it should be more than ok. The meatball appetizer i had was very bland and the agnelotti was salty more than flavourful. I would give this restaurant another try and would hope that the food would be better.
It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised!
Great place for conversation amongst a large group! Ambience and atmosphere was on point! I was a bit disappointed with how my cod and pasta turned out, but the steak was amazing! The meatballs appetizer was memorable too.
As always a pleasure.
The roast chicken never never disappoints.
I had the kale salad a a pizza. My pizza was excellent but the kale salad was terribly under dressed. I've never had it before so unfortunately I ate most of it before I mentioned it to the waitress who immediately brought a small bowl of dressing as though she knew lack of dressing is an issue.
She told me she mentioned it to the kitchen staff so they would know, but she probably should have taken the salad off my bill so I would feel like she actually cared.
Live this restaurant it was Are anniversary and they went above and beyond
Great food, great ambience, service was great, went with a group of 10 and we had a comfortable table, nice cocktails also!
The food was good, but not standout. I was really put off by the wine prices; $15 for a 5 oz glass of white wine, $27 for a 9 oz glass?? Nice atmosphere. The waitstaff were attentive but impatient, and had a bad habit of interrupting conversations whenever they felt like it.
While the service was fantastic, I found the food quite lacking for its price. Especially when compared to similarly priced restaurants in the area. My spiced pork belly appetizer was quite good but my main (duck pasta) was very disappointing.
I was visiting from NYC for the weekend to re-connect with long-time friends after a 10-year span. I searched online for a restaurant prior to my travel and it was very important to me that the dinner was special. Montecito exceeded my expectations and I was extremely pleased with my experience. While my server was kind and competent, she got delayed by a large party. Director Andoh did not hesitate to step in and proceeded to take our appetizer, main course, and drink preferences by memory. Each meal was exactly as we ordered and the experience is now one of the memory highlights of the visit. Thank you.
