Like its Southern California namesake, Montecito combines a casual elegance with effortless sophistication in the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District. Our two-storey dining room, lounge and outdoor patio is located steps away from Film Festival Headquarters at TIFF Bell Lightbox. While our Farm-to-Table menu highlights various purveyors from across Canada and changes weekly based on seasonal availability.
Have you Discovered Montecito?
What a great meal! Nova Scotia scallops as a starter and perfectly prepared Fogo Island turbot....best I've had anywhere. Server was knowledgable and just the right attentiveness. Never had a bad meal here
A nice evening. Good for and service. Great for client dinner.
Great destination for a business lunch. Food was terrific and service was friendly.
The venue was very inviting, great lighting and pleasing decor. For the price, I feel the sides should be included with the meal and I’m sure any Chef worth their salt would agree that they should coordinate the flavours, not the customer. I sabotaged the lovely, 30+$ Duck confit with the limited few sides I had to choose from; crispy Brussel sprouts (that I’m sure had a hint of horseradish) and deep fried potatoes. I could have ordered mushrooms but I would never would have served it that way if I cooked it myself.
If I have to pay to design my meal then a much more complimentary variety of choices is imperative and perhaps a recommendation from the chef. So I just can’t suggest this restaurant to others until this is remedied but it has great potential.
Our server was very pleasant.
We received excellent service. Our server was top notch with honest recommendations and pairings. The food was only so-so. The beet salad was delicious and beautifully plated, the anchovy salad was more of a slaw and overall was unappealing. The lemon ricotta pasta was underwhelming and felt like it was missing something. The fish dish was also so-so. We felt that a place like this should have been packed on a Friday night but it was very empty. We'd definitely return of there was an update to the menu, but keep the beet salad!
For a quick bite before the theatre or for large groups, great setting. The food was okay. We had the lamb dish but saw most people eating pizza or pasta so we probably should have ordered that instead.
This was a special dinner with friends from out of town. Once we were seated, apart from water (30 minutes later) we were not noticed by a server for another half-hour. We ordered drinks and our meals immediately as we were not certain that this service would improve. Waiting an hour to be noticed with just water on the table is not acceptable. We had wonderful scallops to start but the mains were mediocre at best. The highlight of the evening was our server (once he finally arrived). This dinner was a great disappointment.
Service was fantastic and so was the food. We were celebrating a birthday and the menus had happy birthday on them. It was a perfect evening
A middle of the road experience with a expensive price tag.
My family celebrated a New Year’s Day dinner and had a great evening with great food and great service. Will definitely return.
One of the top options for fine dining in Toronto. Food, service, and music were top notch. I would definitely dine here again!
The food was absolutely amazing. I have never had beef that tender in good before. Loved every second at Montecito.
Wine arrived at end of main course - no apologies - and the restaurant was not busy
Meat ball appetizer was tough and unappetizing
Lobster pasta had too much pepper
Poached pear dessert was dry and tough
While overall food was good the above issues affected overall enjoyment materially
The place is nice and the ambiance is pleasant, but the food wasn't good at all.
Great place for a date and dinner. My date had been there there the week before for a holiday party and was happy to be going back for dinner. Great food, atmosphere, and service! Will return!
Everything was quite nice!
We waited over 10 minutes to be offered a drink. And it was freezing that night in the restaurant- our waiter tried to turn the heat up but it didn’t warm up before we left
Exactly what we were expecting. Loved the experience. Food was fantastic...wasn't cheap but was worth every dollar.
Food was mediocre. Decor is dated. Service was decent. For the price I expected better.
Our wait man was superior—a good listener and professional in every way. In particular, we enjoyed the complementary drink as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary ❤️❤️❤️Sam Dragich, Windsor
Server was terrible. Food on the pricey side for quantity
What an outstanding brunch!! Virtually every restaurant in Toronto is full for brunch or has a lineup BUT Montecito not only takes reservations, it produced one of the beat breakfasts I have had. Don’t waste time going anywhere else!
Service was very slow. Wine was ridiculously expensive by the glass. Small food portions.
Wonderful sommelier and excellent choice wines by the glass.
The town of Montecito is a suburb of Santa Barbara California, and it is not known for any cuisine. The restaurant by that name in Toronto has pretentious food in odd portions with high prices that result from their lack of completeness in the dishes. The item I ordered, Perth County Pork Chop (Perth County is of course near Ottawa, not in California). I assume the name refers to its origin and not the style. It was a very large chunk of not so tasty pork and not so tender either. There was nothing else on the plate except some microscopic lentils. If you want bread - that would be another $10. You want a potato - another $10. And a vegetable? $10. They are all for two - no alternative for one or three. The Chicken Montecito, which I think is named for the restaurant, not the city, came with salad. Some pieces were dry, some not. The best thing about the place is that it has lots of room. The next best thing is where it's located. The servers are attentive, and they are eager to please. They'll even clean up while you're eating . They also fold your serviette if you don't. If you like dishes that are a large chunk of meat with a lot of décor and not much else, you've arrived. As for me, the price was high for what it is but not high in what it might be. There is a special deal in the wine bar upstairs but no one was there. Why did I go up there and down a dark hall: to find a washroom. They are nice little places for one.
Kale salad is delicious. The noise level was intrusive and made it hard to have a normal level conversation.
Our second time, and probably won't come back again. This time the kale salad was excellent, plenty of dressing and very tasty. The lamb pasta dish was quite good, but the sirloin and the lobster spaghetti were very disappointing. The lobster spaghetti was very rich, and had only one small chunk of lobster in it. The steak was not very tasty.
The wait staff was very attentive to time because we were going to theatre, and the manager gave us her card due to the poor lobster spaghetti.
This is a lovely restaurant with great decor, nice atmosphere and a great staff from hostess to servers to managers - unfortunately the food just doesn't live up to what they get right.
The pork belly as an appie was excellent. The wines were well priced. Really like the cool movie decor in the restaurant!
Great place for a couple. Also make sure you ask about parking options before you get there.
We loved the attention paid to locally sourced ingredients.
Food was absolutely delicious! It's a great location and the staff made us feel very comfortable
Great food, service and attention to detail. Thanks for offering a great space for our business lunch!
Food: we shared the kale salad to start and each of us had the hose specialty chicken . Both the salad and entree were excellent.
Service: The server was knowledgeable about the food, but fell short on the attentiveness towards us.
We have been to this restaurant a few times and do highly recommend it.
We had a late reservation so the place was fairly empty. There were 6 of us. The waiter was very nice but it took quite a while to get our drink order. It took a while to get our appetizers. I ordered bread (which should have been complimentary) and it wasn’t terribly fresh and the churned butter was extremely salty. Our main meals took forever to get to the table and the waiter didn’t return to get us drink refills. Once our food came, I was disappointed with the presentation. I had the chicken and it was basically two breasts of chicken and a huge side of wiry-looking mixed greens. What happened to getting a carb with your meal or a vegetable? The tables are made of a type of granite so my plate kept slipping around while I was cutting my meat. The chicken was juicy but I didn’t care for the spices used, too much garlic, I think. For the price we paid, I wouldn’t return. Too bad, the ambience was excellent.
We had order the bone in Filet for two. It was embarrassing how small the portion was. For $130 it wasn't enough to feed one person. The potato side was underdone. My wife had the lamb pasta which was okay.
Wonderful! Always go there.
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and they did not disappoint: impeccable service, atmosphere, food, wine, and staff. This restaurant is top of my list in Toronto.
The service was good. The server came over often to ask if we need anything else but he never smile, he is very cold, we tried to joke to make him smile to give people a warmer service. Noticed the other servers are the same. Not sure if this is their training. Hopefully their service will be warmer for my next visit.
We stumbled upon this place while vacating Toronto and glad we did. The food was amazing as well as the service. Drinks were a little pricey but the best we’ve had. Very nice place and will definitely come back if we’re in town again.
Anniversary dinner. Service was fantastic and the food was terrific!
Great wine list. Especially the Pinot Noirs
