Nautical Nellies offers a large selection of fresh, local, OceanWise sustainable seafood and well aged, hand cut Certified Angus Beef steaks. The menu is a mix of classic and modern styles with distinct West Coast influences. Start your meal with Jonah Crab Cakes. (Rumoured to be the best in the city!) or the succulent albacore tuna tataki. For lunch choose one of their handcrafted sandwiches featuring Dungeness crab or Atlantic lobster. At dinner, the Hunter Sirloin or a more traditional surf and turf.
The wine list has won several Playhouse International Wine Festival Awards and Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2008- 2012
I do not understand how they get such a hight review. The food are overpriced. The clam chowder was too salty and the mussels they used are not fresh. We ordered surf and turf; one of the lobster they gave us was not fresh. Their so called "famous crab cake" was way to sweet. Very disappointing ☹️
49th Wedding Anniversary! Our waiter and manger Aaron was amazing! Wonderful fresh seafood was our choice!
What a view! We had the best table in the house with the best waiter. Payton was amazingly attentive. My steak was perfect and the cheesecake is to die for. What I really love about Nautical Nellies is that it is never too noisy. Great night!
We arrived for our reservations early and was seated early, that was not expected but appreciated. The waitress was very friendly and explained all of the options in fabulous detail. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Visiting from LA, so was looking forward to dinner here. But we were quickly sent to a side room facing the parking lot. Asked for a nicer table with a view. But were told no, it was because we had kids. Their website made no mention of kids not being welcome. And they even had a kids menu. Also, disappointed to see very few seafood entrees. Mostly steaks...
I had the lobster and crab salad. Very good dish with avocado and greens, large portion , nicely presented, a nice surprise indeed. My main course was the Delmonico steak, a cut that I always enjoyed in the past. This time I founded quite fat and not cooked properly. I asked for medium-rare and it came blue...what a disappointment that was! I also didn’t care much for the mashed potatoes with the skin. A very poor quality dish for a very high price.
Incredible dinner and service. We were looking for a steak and seafood dinner and both our meals were delicious. Our waiter was attentive and professional. Would absolutely go again!
The food and service were both very good, however, the restaurant itself is in dire need of a revamp. The carpet, tables, seating etc all need replacing which all show wear. The night we ate there there was food on the floor and on the seating too.
We went for our anniversary and really enjoyed the experience. The food was very good and we didn't wait long for it to arrive. Our waitress was very attentive. She cleared our plates and refilled our drinks quickly. The restaurant was clean and in a good location.
Salmon with mustard sauce was outstanding. Service was prompt and friendly.
Not good at all really. The food was sub-standard and overpriced for what it was and the service wasn’t much better either!
Way too expensive for the ammount that you get! Food wasnt even good...
We have been going to Nautical Nellie's for many years and always have a great meal until this one. My wife ordered a tuna stack which was not on the menu but the waiter assured her that they could get it for her. When it arrived, we were surprised to see that it was made with canned tuna instead of raw tuna chunks as usual. My wife didn't say anything to the waiter at the time but she was very disappointed. Not our usual experience at Nauticals! My meal was excellent!
The experience was really average. The lamb shank came without gravy, and was on the dry side. The price was too high for the overall experience. We were mildly disappointed that the ambience wasn't a bt more "up market", but in a way I suppose it was in keeping with the name itself. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but for the money, we'd go elsewhere next time.
Food was great! Definitely worth the buck!!!!! Will come back again 100%
Food was average and given the price, we were expecting better.
Ran out of the one menu item we wanted.
Had the 3-course lobster dinner. Good quality and taste!
Food tasted great! A little on the expensive side, but totally worth it!!! Must-try!!!!
Food was delicious. Highly recommend the Ice platter
Prices are a little extreme. Had a steak that was $41. 10 ounce New York strip not worth the money. My wife had prawn and scallop pasta 3 prawns 2 scallops and a little bit of pasta. I know good seafood is not cheap but pasta is. Give people a big bowl of pasta so they think there getting something for there money.
Too expensive for the value of the food. Server was mediocre and not really engaged.
Ate here two evenings. First evening I had maple salmon and my companion had seafood with a puff pastry. Seafood w/pastry was a huge win and salmon was very good. Whole grain rice was very dry first night. Second night I had 6oz tenderloin cooked to perfection and two small lobster tails which were excellent. This is a special for $48 Monday - Thursday. Dinner comes with salad or lobster bisque and cream brûlée’s of flourless mocha tort. This is a great deal. 2nd night my companion had haddock which was wonderful and rice was much better second night. The dish came with scallops, shrimp and a Bernaise sauce. The shrimp, crab, shrimp were in the sauce. We thought seafood would be on top of fish with a side of sauce. That is why my companion didn’t care for the seafood w/ bernaise. Service was better 1st night but 2nd night wasn’t bad. Slightly noisy but a very nice restaurant.
Repectfully, did not stand up to ratings. Food and atmosphere are average, and over priced. Server was great.
Had the lobster special dinner
Service was very good too.
Amazing food, not too expensive and definitely worth it. Ill be going here again forsure!!!!!
Great food and service
Nice selection of appetizers and drinks
We not at all enjoyed our dinner. We, a party of 5, (2 of which are kids) arrived 10 mins earlier than our reservation time and were told that we had to wait until our reservation time in order to be seated, yet a party of 3 came in without reservation got seated right away. Our server was not too enthusiastic about serving our table, maybe because we didn’t order enough for his tips to go up? I wouldn’t say racism, but the group right next to us got way more attention then we did; we almost had to beg for our sharing plates/bowls base on the fact that we brought 2 kids. Lastly, the foods weren’t even worth our time.
I have always been extremely happy anytime I have dined @ Nautical Nellies...
Our meals were fantastic and everyone had a great time..
Our Server was excellent.
Found it overpriced for what it is
Found the prices higher than we thought was justified ...but the food was good
Previously I have had good food here and I have always brought friends. This time I came with two friends from Vancouver and they both ordered halibut. The halibut (breaded and fried) was very overdone and very unappealing, so they asked if they could please send it back and have the same thing but cooked properly. Again, it was very overdone and they didn't eat it. So that was very disappointing and I felt bad.
Excellent Waitress Loved the Mussels
The service left a lot to be desired. The crab was ok but the sides were cold. Overall not worth the money...
Great location and food was amazing. Really enjoyed the meal and visit.
Really disappointed in this restaurant. The restaurant was very unprepared for how busy it got. The server was very overwhelmed and it was obvious...he kept apologizing to the tables around us. My husband didn’t even receive the proper utensils to eat his dinner.
Food: My husband ordered steak with a side of crab; for the extra $24.00 charge for the crab, he received two small pieces of a crab leg...unbelievable. My halibut was slightly over cooked and not seasoned. The plating was done nicely but the food itself was just blah.
I don’t normally comment but this was just so disappointing, I felt I had to. This place is not good value for the price you pay and the food is just ok. We won’t be returning on our next trip to Victoria and I suspect they won’t be open long either.
Had a great meal with friends. Although we weren't at the window, we still had a great view of Victoria Harbour. The night we were there, the dishwasher had broken and we were advised service might be slow - but that was perfect for us, as we wanted a nice leisurely meal. The server was nice and attentive, and gave us a sample of wine to try before ordering a bottle (very nice touch). Food was excellent too.
It is time to update your restaurant - felt like I was at an expensive Denny’s. Food was good, service was best it could be given that you appeared to be under staffed
