We arrived at 11:15 with reservations for brunch. Things were pretty quiet but by 11:30 the place was very busy. The staff was courteous and efficient with the growing crowd and did a great job. The food was served promptly and was outstanding. The Mussels Mariniere were flavorful, well prepared and a very large portion. The quiche was light and a well balanced blend of flavors. We were delighted by both dishes. A Belgian Chocolate Croissant and coffee for dessert completed a great meal.

We went for lunch and took advantage of the lunch special and drink happy hour. Although it’s not my first experience, I’m compelled to continue to compliment this restaurant. The food is fantastic! All small “tapas” style plates for lunch. Try the lasagna, my absolute favorite, the muscles…oooh that sauce!, the croquette with that delicious tangy jam, the beef carpaccio…ooh my…,and the red pepper and cheese emulsion spread is worth it for the table…light and airy. We drank margaritas that were made with fresh lime juice. Spectacular! Try the cocktails…very nicely done. Thank you to our waiter (starts with an M y es de Nicaragua…I’m so bad with names!). We’ll be back for sure!

You honestly can’t go wrong with Old Ebbett Grill - the place reflects its history (dating back to the late 1800s when it was an Inn/Saloon) and has an extensive menu known for their seafood, specifically oysters. Took my daughter (who did not want to go into DC after her graduation from Georgetown, and said this better be the best meal I ever had) - it did not disappoint as she indicated the pasta was one of the best she ever had and left a happy girl saying everything was awesome and thanking me for taking her there.

At first the hostess offered us a table in a far corner next to the door to the outside area and after asking to be moved she put us in what I think was a prime location-not sure why she didn’t put us there to begin with. The wait team and food instantly made me forget my annoyance at the hostess. For the next two hours we had AMAZING service and AMAZING food. Our waitress knew everything about the menu from drinks (cocktails and wine) to food/dessert. We had the perfect amount to feel full and so happy. It is not often these days to have an experience where you can’t wait to give them more tip than the recommended amount. Well done!!

Discover Capitol Hill

Since Pierre L'Enfant decided to build the Congress House at the top of Jenkins Hill in 1791, the enormous Capitol Hill district of Washington, D.C., has grown to symbolize America to many citizens. However, this neighborhood houses a lot more than monuments and politicians. In between the old rowhouses and various parks, you'll find plenty of food options. You can start out by heading to brunch and ordering some buckwheat pancakes at one of the many early-morning spots. Capitol Hill also offers a number of barbecue joints for those looking to feast on tender meats. If you're a seafood lover, hit up a raw oyster bar or sushi restaurant. And of course, America's capital knows how to do a classic burger that even a president would love to sink their teeth into!
