Simply a fun place for dinner. You really feel pampered.
It was very intimate and the whole experience was amazing to say the least. The food, the server, the ambiance, everything! Shame we’re visiting or else we would make it a regular spot. 5/5 all around. The foie gras with the plantains is a must try!
Lovely and small establishment, but the architectural details make it feel more comfortable and private. Food was awesome and service was good. Enjoyed the drinks and wine list. If you like Martinis, have a dirty one with olives stuffed with local goat cheese & cilantro! Yes, that wonderful! From appetizers to desert all was exquisite. Maybe a little too much risotto on several entrees, would prefer a veg option. Enjoyed the lobster - great size, great additional seafood and loved the sauce! My husband’s scallops were also outstanding. When in Puerto Rico, will be back! Thanks for a lovely evening (and for the valet parking!).
Everything was excellent!!!!
Tiny, quaint and tastefully decorated. Delicious food and nice ambiance but way too loud to carry a conversation unless you don’t mind sharing your private conversation with everyone around you.
I decided to visit the Restaurant after a recommendation. I, particularly, enjoy desserts and like to try different restaurants and bakeries. The soufflé was exceptional. Really and truly fantastic. The creme brûlée was good as well. Now, knowing that most restaurants expect you to have dinner and then dessert, I called ahead to make sure that it was okay to make a reservation for two people for just dessert. The person I spoke to made a note and told me that, if there was a problem, someone would call me before the time of the reservation. When I got there, all tables were occupied. This is understandable. The chef offered to either wait for a table or sit at the bar. Even though we had a reservation, we chose the bar as I had to return home to continue working. The bartender offered the menus and then pretty much did not pay attention to us until I called him over. He, then, took our order and forgot about us again until he brought our cocktails. When (about half an hour later) a table became available, we were told that it was reserved for somebody else but that another one was going to free up soon. That table opened up 15 minutes after that (45 minutes after the time of the reservation). By that time the desserts were served, no use in moving. Once again we were forgotten until we called over for the check.
I would recommend going because the food seems fantastic and I can attest the desserts are. The service was also great for those who happened to be seated at a table. The chef was constantly checking on them. So. Just make sure to get a table and decline the bar.
Service was amazing. Food was delicious and it was the perfect little quiet space for date night
This was my second time visiting Niche. The food is superb and there’s service was exceptional, just as it was the first time we visited. I would love to see one or two more non seafood options on the menu but the chef was very willing to make accommodations. Would highly recommend for a date night or anniversary celebration. Not super kid friendly since it is small (quiet) and there is no children’s menu. However, our wonderful server made my 4 year old grandson feel at home and brought him all the French fries he could eat. So everyone was happy!
So good we went back two nights in a row!
PLEASE READ: Niche is a small French restaurant inside of the Acacia Hotel in the Condado area of San Juan. The space is very small and intimate, which is perfect for a romantic dinner. The owner greets guests upon arriving, and describes the specials. We (two people) started with a Filet Mignon Carpaccio, which was delicious. The main courses took over an hour, however the Filet Mignon main dish was cooked to a medium rare, when I ordered a blue rare, and the lobster was overcooked as well. The owner tried to embarrass me by finding a picture of a rare steak on Google and waving it around the restaurant with his flashlight on to show me what he thought was a blue rare steak. When the second piece of meat was delivered, it was cooked correctly, but his ego got the best of him, and he made every effort to ignore our two-top table in this small restaurant. The server told us she asked him to comp a glass of wine, or the filet mignon, and he refused. He then came over to our table after we paid and told us to never return. Unfortunately, this poor gentleman is very lost in his culinary career, and is obviously very angry and sad, meaning he should probably stay away from the service industry, or dealing with people altogether.
Excellent as always, we went for my birthday and everything was perfect and spotless. Thank you again, David, for making it a special night!
Love this place. Great food. Great Service. Great ambiance.
This is my 5th visit and the 4th time I enjoyed the tasting menu. The food was not as impressive as in previous occasions, but it was still very good, particularly when you take into account the chef’s hospitality.
The entry white bean soup was fantastic. The salmon tartare was bland for my taste. The fish was excellent. The duck casserole with “gandules” was good, but I was a bit full by then. The “soufflé-like” lemon cake was good/fine, but I would not repeat.
Overall I still consider Niche Bistro one of the best, restaurants, if not the best, in PR.
I made reservations based off of the reviews and I was greatly disappointed. While the service was great, it lacked in the food area.
First off it was quite expensive. All the dishes were $30 or more and not worth it. Had it been worth it then ok. I ordered a skirt steak and my partner ordered a filet mignon. We both watched each other fight to chew them and get it down our throats. And yes we ordered medium rare. So it should not have been tough at all. One was even almost rare. I’m not sure what exactly was going on. They also charge for the bread for the table. Which I felt was ridiculous. A cup of coffee is nearly $5 which was no more than three ounces and half frothed milk. I would not go back nor recommend to anyone for that matter.
If not the best restaurant in San Juan or Puerto Rico, is among the best. Small but big in heart restaurant with a blend of French and Puerto Rican cuisine in the Condado area in San Juan, Puerto Rico. You can't go wrong. Making a reservations is very recommended.
It's a lil nook surrounded by higher end bottles of beverage right outta da barkeep's stellar cellar for you to salivate, gawk at , imagine like a Pavlovian, taint tried that one yet, lez see here, $39 plus $46, oh yea $60 on appetizers.... tis a baller's paradise. The solid wood tables add to the refinement, spatial planning here. The shape of floor and formal dining accouterments all combine , yes, it's humbling, their fusion.
A real chef , Sir David, sent out hors d'oeuvre -- tuna bites , Asian something or nother dripped on -- before our entrees after two well formed appetizers disappeared on a moment's notice. David's pad thai , based in a smokey foundation features a " vegan " descriptor if you roll with those ethics [a place adjacent to Rincon's postmaster competes with this essence but his harbors a dark n smokey undercurrent that competitor lacked. Both are mighty sweet, btw, be warned -- well suited for a Brazilian.
At the coffee houses, btw, I'm tagged Mr. Sin Azucar.
My entree, David's simplified retro hamburger. Well done & refined by French training, he slammed that icon right outta the ball park. Even the potato wedges have hints of turnip mixed in, I'd venture to guess.
Cuisine aside, staff here shine; young , polite , appealing, ready to bring it when not soliciting valet service out front. It's not that vulgar Badda Bing crowd we know from Tony Soprano's Jersey bar. Sprechen sie French? She'll do it with glamour just for you, and that's not all...
Their music after sit down, balanced, crystal clear with healthy punch of bass --someone on back-end placed a woofer hidden in its nooks and crannies.
They answer direct when asked about withheld prices, too. Most of the customers , alas & alack, were of the clientele that cares not so much about one's tab billowing up & outward, up & away like nimble kiteboarders show us as their wind picks up just out the doors toward the sounding sea.
On a recent trip to San Juan my partner and I enjoyed two outstanding meals at Niche Bistro in the Acacia Hotel in Ocean Park. The menu is eclectic and creative, and the dishes were presented beautifully. Outstanding and attentive service in a very chic environment, combined with the highest quality food made for two memorable occasions. Niche Bistro is a small hidden gem!!
Carolyn & I totally enjoyed our experience at Niche 8-27-2019, just prior to the arrival of tropical storm Dorian. Venue is small & very intimate. Entire staff was engaging and exceptionally attentive to our every need or whim. We were treated very well here....and all things food and drink were exceptional. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Romantic ambiance, great service and extra- magnifique food! A treat to your senses!
Had an excellent meal. Everyone was attentive and eager to please with any request. Chef David is charming and his recommendations were very spot on. Definitely would go again
A special place for a very special dining experience. Small beautiful restaurant with a superb attention by his chef and owner David.
Great Food!! Love that place just it was a Sunday and the chef was not there and you can feel the difference, in the ambiance mainly! Not a big deal will come back any day for more Porcini Veloutè!!!!
Food was amazing!!!
100% recomendado, la atención excelente, las entradas, platos principales y cócteles muy buenos.
Despite having trouble with elect power the service was great. I know from previous visits the food is amaizing.
Looking forward ri return soon.
Excellent service! Food was awesome!!! Definitely worth it
This is a very small restaurant so I would recommend reservations. The food, service, and ambiance were excellent. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and chose the five course tasting. Everything was excellent. To the staff: well done!
The best in Puerto Rico by far.
Fourth time al Niche, our best dinner at this place so far, everything was simply spectacular!!!
Food was divine! Five course meal was an experience!
Will be back for sure!
Chef David is amazing! Not only his culinary ability but even more so in service to his guests. Niche is a hidden jewel. Small location, perfect for a romantic night but also great for gathering friends. Will be back... for sure many more times!
Food exquisite , ambience comfy, service excellent. Lovely restaurant for a romantic dinner or the perfect hideaway from the daily routine.
WE ARRIVED ON TIME AT 7:30 PM. OUR FOOD ARRIVED AT 10:00. TOO SLOW AND TOO EXPENSIVE. $17.00 FOR A SOUP!!!!
The only thing is .that because the place is soo small, u feel the eyes of waiters on top. And also for the female waitress should reserve her comments on the prices
Awesome service and food. The intimate setting made date night special!
We moved to PR 11 months ago. I “found” Niche early on. And we keep coming back. Fabulous things come in small packages. The food is beyond amazing, the wine list is solid, the cocktails are amazing (seriously, have the Niche martini with goat cheese and cilantro stuffed olives!!!), and the staff is attentive. Not to mention the Chef. He is off the charts and with the seating being very limited, he is amazingly flexible if you want something off the tasting menu for your appetizer or main course. His passion for what he does shows in every bite you take. And his food is consistently divine.
