North and Navy
Our menu is inspired by tradition and dictated by the quality and availability of ingredients. We play off the similarities between the climates of Eastern Ontario and Northeast Italy, and create our take on classic dishes made with seasonal game, seafood and vegetables. Plus, sometimes we’ll just add whatever we want.
Food & service was excellent as usual. I highly recommend for their handmade pastas & intricate appetizers.
We always have a great time at North and Navy. Food is amazing, service is superb. The menu changes frequently so there is always a reason to return. One of the best restaurants in Ottawa.
Excellent service and quality ingredients. The meal was delicious and atmosphere was warm and inviting. We have a wonderful experience each time we come here!
The pasta is always outstanding! There isn’t better service in Ottawa. Great Valentine’s.
My wife and I celebrated Valentines Day at North and Navy, and we were more than pleased with everything North and Navy had to offer. From the food to the service, we give North and Navy 5 stars on all fronts.
Food was amazing. We got something from each course to get a good idea and variety of flavors. The pasta dishes really stood out, well made and flavorful. Just fantastic. Service was great as well.
Excellent resto. Plats de qualité. Un peu bruyant .
Awesome hostess and even gave us a glass of Prosecco as the table wasn't ready when we arrived. Waitress was OK. Distracted and explained food options very quickly. I consider myself a foodie and thought the description was not very clear. Suggested wine pairing was a bit big for our options. Duck plate had a funny metal taste to it? Have been here before and definitely had a better experience the prior time.
Great food, great setting, good service but a little loud at times for conversation.
Always a great experience at this restaurant. The food is excellent :) Whenever I come to town I always try to stop have dinner.
Great food! First table provided was not ideal due to high trafficked area. Was provided an alternative which was better however to no fault of anyone, the noise level was high at times (loud guests, crying baby). The 80's music was very well received.
Perfect restaurant. Thanks for everything. Will be back again very soon.
Food was delicious, atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, service was informative, friendly and great! Would highly recommend for the experience and great dishes.
The food, the wine, the staff, the ambiance were all perfect and there was convenient parking as well. Really enjoyed the our birthday celebration at North and Navy
Fresh, varied and unique tasting palettes on the menu. High quality ingredients. Fantastic wine pairings.
Absolutely fantastic! Every part of our experience was perfect and the food was phenomenal. Every bite was "a party in the mouth" with unexpected flavour combinations making you excited for the next dish. I'll quote my mom, who said "I just want to kiss the chef....the food was that good"!!!
Wonderful food. Great service and a welcoming ambiance. Highly recommended.
Three of us go to restaurants every 6 to 8 weeks in and around Ottawa. Your restaurant was recommended by a friend who is a chef and we were not disappointed. Great service, pleasant ambience and the food selection (made by the server/chef) was spot on. Thank you.
Visited for a birthday celebration. The first two courses, the appetizers and the pastas were great. The mains, however, were disappointing. The meat was cooked nicely, but the citrus taste was too overpowering. They offered to remake it, but we declined because the meat part was decent and we felt bad to make them redo it. To add to that, the front dining area was completely neglected and we stood around forever waiting to get our coats to leave. The back kitchen staff saw us standing around and did nothing. We didn't know where any of the front of the house staff were. We got too tired of standing around, and opened up the curtain to find our coats to leave. Had a good experience last year, so wanted to go back more often this year, but this experience certainly made us think twice.
Thank you so much. Great food, great wine, great staff. Priceless experience with my wife.
We made a reservation at the bar and we're happy we did. The bartender was charming, knowledgeable, prompt and gave excellent recommendations. All of our dishes and drinks did not disappoint. The support staff were all polite and attentive. We look forward to going back.
Fantastic food, great service. It’s not the cheapest place to go, but great for a special occasion. Highly recommended.
Took my friend for her birthday. It was the first visit for both of us. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The waitress was very helpful with recommendations. We shared two antipasti and two primi - everything was excellent. Polpette (meatball) appetizer was delicious and we had the Maltagliati ai Funghi and the Butternut Squash Mezzaluna. Both were delicious. For Dolce the Olive Oil Cake & Whipped Ricotta was perfect. We will definitely be back
I had not tried this restaurant since it took over the space from Beckta a restaurant which I used to love when it was small and cozy. My friend and I do not eat wheat so were aware that the pasta choices for us would be limited. There was one corn pasta dish which we did not try. The food was quite good but very overpriced for the quality and quantity compared to restaurants as good in Ottawa and elsewhere. I was not impressed by the waiter who might have warned us that by ordering both the eggplant starter and then the scallops we would face an overabundance of yogurt/ cream in both dishes.
The scallop dish was excellent though overpriced at 44 dollars for four scallops. I would not recommend this restaurant and given that it was almost empty on a Tuesday night, looks like the word has got out that it is overpriced
Good character to the rooms and well laid out. Food and service were very good. Will have to try the bar area soon as it looked very inviting.
Were very pleased overall!
The food was amazing. Every dish was fantastic and the service was great. My only tiny criticism is it's a little dark in the room, but that's not a bad thing depending on the occasion. We'll be going back eventually for sure!
Our meal was ridiculously good and the service was absolutely wonderful!
Went for the second time for Nona’s dinner - very good food, friendly and knowledgeable service. Cozy ambiance. We plan to make regular visits!
great food and service but where we sat it was too dark to read menu and too loud to have a pleasant conversation.
As always great food and service. Our table was ready later than the reservation so we got a glass of bubbly on the house. Always a great experience at NoNa
We had an incredible time at NoNa. The food was amazing and very unique tasting. I don't think I could find anything comparable in the city. The atmosphere is so wonderful, and I will definitely be returning!
We were very disappointed by our experience at North & Navy. We went on a Sunday. Sunday’s offer a limited menu which was frankly underwhelming.
As first time guests, we decided to Let Nonna Feed Us which is their chef’s choice tasting menu. We didn’t find any of the courses to be particularly interesting. Since we both ordered the Nonna option we received a wide variety of courses but only 1 order of the Nonna’s Gravy (Main course) which was not a sufficient amount of food. Lots of little bites but not worth $46 a person.
The pork belly in the Nonna’s Gravy was over cooked and the sauce was a very basic tomato sauce. The beet and eggplant salad was bland and the beets were over roasted. Contorni for the evening was a plain salt cod with olive oil on poor quality baguette. The Tiramisu was the real disappointment though. The ladyfingers were stale and the mascarpone texture was runny.
Maybe we will give it another shot on a normal menu night but only at the recommendation of friends who have had better experiences at North & Navy.
The food and drinks were amazing, service was very good but it was busy that night. Seasonal menu was mainly in Italian so it was a bit difficult for the me or anyone that’s not very familiar with Italian cuisine to figure out what is on the menu but the servers were friendly to explain them. Price was definitely on the higher end but the taste was worth it.
Excellent Northern Italian fare served by knowledgable and professional staff. The meat balls are to die for! Very good Italian wine list as well, and reasonably priced. High quality ingredients prepared thoughtfully. We will return.
They had zucchini and burrata on offer as a starter, an odd choice for the winter. Another starter was home-made yoghurt and eggplant. That was very good. My main had way too much sauce. Overall, the food was nothing special, and very expensive for what it was. Especially annoying was that the (admittedly very attractive) know-it-all waitress, when I asked for a glass of wine, came over with a bottle of the most expensive wines in each hand. This very arrogant service is now typical in North American restaurants. You would never get that in Europe, despite the reputation of European service as being snooty.
Really good food, servers treated us very well!
Will definitely go back!
Expensive experience overall.
Nice room, cozy , food good but not spectacular.
Menus a bit pretentious.
Lovely atmosphere. Staff were wonderful. Food was great but no celiac-friendly dessert. (Ice cream doesn’t count).
To die for! The menu is so creative. We ordered the meatballs, zucchini burrata, mushroom pasta, and butternut squash pasta. It was all divine.
