Our menu is inspired by tradition and dictated by the quality and availability of ingredients. Had high expectations of the restaurant from the reviews. Our experience of the visit is that the service is excellent. Unfortunately, our quality is marginal. Ordered 6 dishes. None of these are outstanding and the main course duck was overcooked and lacked any taste. The staircase to the second-floor washrooms was dark and steep. Not safe for clients. The noise level was high but the atmosphere was fine, with a high number of diners in a tight space. The overrated restaurant has been overrated.

We had a wonderful evening and the food was divine. The care and attention to each plate was just like out of the fine dining establishments we have been to previously. The service was impeccable and we are looking forward to going back.

The menu was not very helpful. I ordered chick peas, eggplant, polenta. The eggplant was stewed in tomatoes and onion and was tasty. However, there were no chick peas and no polenta. What there was was pureed chickpeas, cut into slabs and deep fried. My companion ordered white beans and trout. The dish included trout, but there were no white beans. What there was was a somewhat bland puree, which I can only suppose was made from white beans. So, like, where was the corn (polenta), where were the white beans. What we ordered bore little relationship to what we received. If I had to summarize, I'd say the kitchen was trying too hard.

Excellent food. Pasta was outstanding. Sauces stole the show. Brown butter cream sauce on the butternut squash pasta was the highlight. Will definitely be back.

I have to say the service was top notch! They were attentive, great at describing the food and drinks and very friendly and warm. Food and ambiance were also good, but the staff was really special!

Amazing restaurant, just a few steps from Bank Street. The food was delicate and delicious. The cocktails and wine selections were perfect. The Negronis are a must. The changing menu offers limited, but well curated dishes. Full of flavors. Love the charm of this old house and the use of antique porcelain and silverware. And the service was attentive. Not cheap, but definitely highly recommended.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and might be the best meal I’ve ever had in Ottawa. Got the duck and smoked corn and I can’t stop thinking about it. Service was unbelievable, our waiter knew everything about anything. Would recommend to anyone and can’t wait to go back!
