   We really enjoyed our experience. All the staff were great. Amanda our server was prompt and knowledgeable. The food was gorgeous and tasted even better than it looked, and it looked amazing. We will be back.

   Portions could be a little bigger and I feel that vegetables were lacking. A side salad or appetizer offering would be nice. I did love that a Prosecco was offered by the glass.

   Overall I liked this place as a new interesting experience. However, I am unlikely to go there again, primarily for two reasons - the choice of food is too limited, and, in my opinion, it is over pricy.

   We came here for an anniversary celebration and they were very kind and brought us champagne. The food was very delicious but the portions sizes were quite small for the price. The menu is varied and really interesting options. It is a bit unapproachable to not have any descriptors on the menu so the server has to explain each option.

    Fabulous experience at North and Navy! We went for an anniversary dinner and we were treated like royalty. Beautiful, delicious and interesting food, amazing atmosphere. Flawless and friendly service. Would highly recommend for a special occasion !

    The quality of the food was second only to the service - the staff is top notch. You can immediately feel the calmness and experience working there by the way they navigate the room, chat with diners and make sure their needs are tended. Not to mention, when your server can run through the entire menu from memory and answer questions on the fly... like, wow. Highly recommended if you're looking for a higher dinning experience.

    The tomato ricotta appetizer was great. The pasta was not cooked enough and this was truly disappointing for such an upscale Italian restaurant . The octopus was good but not memorable. Overall good experience

    The meal was outstanding. Chef did an amazing job on my polpo, and sciumette dessert. Sebastian, our server walked us through the menu and recommended an amazing wine that went with all four mains! He’s probably the best waiter I have encountered and I’ve travelled the world! Would definitely go back and recommend to all my family and friends!

    The food was exquisite…my main was lamb and it was cooked to perfection, the taste divine. The pasta choices were interesting to the point that making a selection was challenging…I wanted to try them all! Love that ingredients are locally sourced. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Our server was was very helpful in helping us with a great wine selection to accompany our meal. I can see a definite return visit to this lovely restaurant in the future.

    This is one restaurant that I will be crossing off our list. All four of us in our group were disappointed. First, let me commend the service. Our server was top notch. The wines we selected were expensive but delicious. It was in fact the food that hugely disappointed us. The presentation is not commensurate to the prices on the menu, nor is the preparation. If I pay $30 for duck carpaccio, I expect something more on my plate than several slices of dry carpaccio and a sliced fig. A stupid leaf of parsley might have added je ne sais quoi. Same could be said for the other three persons and their appetizers. Prices are ridiculously high for what one receives. I'm sorry if this is harsh but we all had far greater expectations of North and Navy. No need to ever return.

    SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Can't stress that enough. - Polpette was great. Simple, well executed, and makes a perfect small plate with the house bread. - Ricotta Gnocchi was pretty good. Bit too much pesto, and not sure what the radish was about. - Braised fennel was unfortunately NOT braised, but seemed to have just been seared. Plating and flavours were great though. Would have enjoyed very much if chewable. - Duck with Spelt Risotto had some great flavours but was overall a bit confusing. Confit was a little underdone, but duck tasted great and wasn't too fatty. Spelt risotto was cooked well and had a nice chew. Not sure what is northern Italian about raisins, tapenade and citrus zest - great North African vibe to this dish, like a duck and citrus tagine. It just really did not land with the other dishes. I mean this with total respect, but real talk: North and Navy have a BIG reputation, and the food was quite underwhelming, and served on thrift store china in near darkness. Menu either needs focus or needs to drop the North Italian concept because its a bit tenuous. Food deserves new matching tableware. Light the restaurant so we can see the dish like Chef does when they send it out. Price point was good, and once again, the service was absolutely stellar.

    This was my second visit, in town working for a few weeks. Food is excellent, plated beautifully and staff are warm and knowledgeable. The wine list is perfect paired for the menu and the Panna Cotta w/ burnt honey... well... it will change your life.

    As other reviews noted, the dining room is too dark. Can barely read the menus as a result. If they want to keep that lighting level for ambience, increase the font size in the menus. The prices are indeed quite high for some of the items. I do understand that the preparation and recipe formulation play a role, but $30 for a plate of thinly sliced beets might be quite the margin! Also, the steak was good but the jus that it came in was extremely salty. If that was on purpose, I would question the aim of the dish. It was totally unbalanced as a result, and I pushed the jus away from the steak, foie gras, and potatoes so that it would not ruin them. Good place, but perhaps some introspection is needed. Even though they are named a top restaurant in Canada, there is always room to reflect and improve. (I also put birthday on the reservation and that seemed to do nothing. I was not asked for additional details about it nor did anyone acknowledge my selecting that option)

    Not sophisticated nor tasty. Astronomically Overpriced, poor wine pairing options to their current menu. No air conditioning, dress code very loose (including for employees). Could not accommodate dietary restriction( despite specific 3 week notice). Very poor alternative suggestions. The best dish out of 7 we had there was the Negroni cocktail. 1 party gin, 1 part Vermouth, 1 part Campari. So simple you can make that at home with a recipe found n the internet that require no skills. Same for the dishes.

    Definitely the best meal we've had in Ottawa (and probably Ontario)! The food is unique and delicious. The portions are small but surprisingly filling. The wine list is excellent and the staff are all very knowledgeable about pairings. Highly recommend for those with epicurean tendencies and in search of a fine dining experience.

    Went for my 6 year anniversary. They printed special menus for our date to make it even more special. I was planning on going a few months prior for a regular date night, but saw the menu and didn’t understand anything so I was turned off lol. Our server (Sebastien) literally went through the whole menu top to bottom explaining everything without even being asked, he gave a few recommendations, which we followed, and everything was absolutely stunning. Food was amazing. Service was excellent, and I loved how antique everything was, it made it feel authentic. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the entire North and Navy team, @Chefs and cooks, you guys killed it! Nicely done
