Lovely breakfast buffet. The waitress went out of her way to welcome us and took us out to show us how the Christmas train whistle worked
Food and drinks were excellent. Live music is always a nice touch. If you order the Campfire Tartare expect to be surprised and amazed, by its presentation and taste. Highly recommend the Spiced Crusted Bison!
Our first server was particularly good. The second was good, also. Kept the coffee coming.
Kristina was absolutely amazing as our server - attentive but not overly! Always there when you needed and has a great personality that made our evening!!!!
We were very impressed with everything! It was a lovely evening , our birthdays in fact. We have experienced brunch at Hotel Vancouver, and that too was excellent. We are so glad we came for dinner . Thank you all for making peoples dining experience, a memorable one ! Richard and Athena
Have been to NOTCH8 for drinks but not for dinner.
The Hawthorne cocktail was wonderful.
Shared the NOTCH8 signature bread and able to take some home - delicious.
Really enjoyed the 'Spice Crusted Bison' with the mushrooms, grains & birch jus. Perfectly done and presented.
And can not fault the service.
Area was cool, likely due to the unseasonable cold weather Vancouver was having;, and not someplace one goes for a quiet dinner.
But will definitely return.
The risotto was salty but stake was so good!
Noone was in the from desk for a long time
We had to wait for get in. Envn though we book a reservation.
We were situated close to open hall and cold breeze was notable by two of my guests. One guest ordered hot water to warm up and was given a "look". Not sure if waiter was offended with the ordering of hot water.
We had missed the breakfast buffet window but daily breakfast is served until 11:30am so we still had the chance to enjoy the eggs benny. The hollaindaise was delightful. It was rich, creamy and not overly salty. Half of us ordered the smoked tuna Benedict and the rest ordered it with traditional strip bacon. Both options were very tasty. The breakfast potatoes were well seasoned and crispy. The service was quick considering a larger table of 8 had sat down right before us. The servers were also very attentive to our needs.
Food pretty average for the price. Bar next door fairly loud. Drinks way overpriced. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of other places for the price
First the receptionist made mistake that she gave my table to someone and questioned I didn’t make reservation. After I proved with my app.... then she said ops...,Service is like going to pub instead of a five stars hotel bar & restaurant.
Marvelous service. Food was amazing. Levels of flavours, textures, robust meat.
We loved it. Only one thing, a cocktail piano would have served us well. Fellow singing was good, but we prefer to be able to converse freely. I am a singer and feel it is rude to speak when someone is performing. (My peculiarity ) Go and try a booth, very cozy.
Good choice for a business breakfast.
Food good but service soooooo slow we seated 7pm and check out 10pm. Server is very nice but kitchen is very slow in bringing food out. For a higher end restaurant I expected the service to be a lot faster. Noise level is high with live singer, good singer but just not the right setting
Very nice restaurant. Great for a business meeting or romantic date.
It was great! Family was impressed with the food quality, definitely a great restaurant to be at for good food on special occasion :)
Notch 8 is a great treat for a special occasion or long over due catch up. Service is always top notch and the food is a delight. I would highly recommend their Sunday brunch.
Great food and cocktails. Live music, friendly staff.
Such a disappointment. Food was so expensive but not well prepared or even fresh.
The food and service by the manager was amazing. Our server did take a while to get to us at first. At first sitting beside a very noisy table we moved and it was much better.
The food was impeccable. The manager took great care of us. And the drinks were delicious. We will be back for sure.
Great dinner. Server very knowledgeable. Unique dish is the campfire tartar loved our evening.
We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the ambience was inviting. Our server was exceptional on all levels. I am a Platinum Member of the President's Club and Fairmont is always my go to place. Kind regards Susan
Grilled vegetables was salty.live music was short but good. Beef was cooked perfect. We enjoyed the meal very much.
Neither one of us liked the seafood risotto dish. The onion soup was not outstanding. We were disappointed.
Had a great time, server was always near by, only issue was how loud the area was due to our group being seated near the live music or the noisey tables near us.
My husband took out family there for my 31st birthday and it was magical!
Great meal. Server Jackie is a gem. Had the steak salad. Perfect
I did not give a five star rating because $69 pp for brunch was a bit too high for many. The food was just average. I did not like the desserts and cocktails.
A great choice during BC travel! Trendy and classic
Not use to paying $20 for a martini that is a half glass pour at best. Took over 10 minutes to get my payment processed after I gave server my credit card
Given this hotel’s iconic stature the restaurant Notch 8 was a major disappointment. Upon entering the hotel the ambience captivates but quickly dissipates in the restaurant. We have been long time Hotel Vancovuer patrons, celebrating many fantastic stays over Christmas and New Years as well as other staycations. There is some discord with the restaurant staff; not a happy unit and unfortunately it’s apparent to patrons. Hopefully, Notch 8 will improve to complement the hotel’s great history. Thank you!
Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant for any reason. In fact, I would discourage anyone from ever going there if they had "fine dining" in mind. To begin with, we would have expected to have at least table cloths covering the plastic top tables. Also, we would have expected to have someone present us with a wine menu within the first 10-15 minutes. (We waited 20 minutes before anyone came by.) Then another 10 minutes before the wine arrived. So by now we have been seated in a rather dreary setting--overlooking a shopping parkade of the hotel--before we were to begin our dining out experience. Then what a sad choice of meals it turned out to be. My wife who is a vegetarian ordered the only plate possible (salad) and made a point of emphasizing that the dressing should be "light" and preferably on the side. She was told that it came "light"; in reality, she was not able to continue beyond half the plate because of an excess amount of dressing. My order of "wild boar" was also a disappointment for too many reasons to list here. Allow me to say that the price far outdid the product! Then, to cap it off, the bill overcharged on the wine, and when I brought it to the waiter's attention, I was told it was simply an in-house "coding error". If so, I would have expected an attentive waiter to catch that error rather than putting me into the embarrassing position of "having to complain" about the bill being too high/wrong. All in all, I can assure you that we will never set foot in that restaurant again and we will make sure it gets known as a place to avoid by our friends who also dine out weekly.
We experienced Notch8 both as a restaurant and as a bar - and the two were rather different experiences. We had previously enjoyed the bar, but this time, our servers mostly ignored us, delivered incredibly weak cocktails, and gave me the wrong wine. By sharp contrast, our server at dinner was attentive, gave excellent reccomendations, and never left us wanting. We would come back based upon our seated dinner.
Food was healthy and delicious , beautiful decor, nice atmosphere for friends, business associates, client lunch
Delicious treat. I’d recommend for special occasions.
Service was fantastic. Very attentative and accomodating. Food was fresh and delicious. Comfortable seating
Loved the food. The outdoorsy theme was pretty cool. Very fresh tasting dishes. Most flavor is in the starters for sure though. Booze is super expensive though!
The food is fantastic. However, there is a sports bar feel in the back of the restaurant that doesn't mix with the fine dining. However, the food! Service was attentive and professionalism was high.
Always an amazing experience. We always go here for special occasions with family. Staffs are always friendly and very accommodating. Thank you everyone for making our day extra special!!
I absolutely love this for Sunday brunch. Have been three times in the last three months. My only concern would be consistency in the food. I have ordered the same breakfast all three times but the third time out it was quite different than the first two times. I did mention it to the waiter but was told that it depended on the chef.
