Great place for business lunch. Bring back the Tomato soup!!!
Went for the festive brunch. Came out to 178$ for 2. Super overrated and not worth the money.
70 minutes wait for the food and when it’s finally came it’s not hot, just like warm
Even their signature bread and French onion soup it’s not hot, it’s disappointing for this price it charged
Services was great and I can tell she is very very busy running around and try her best to be attentive
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants and it’s sorry to see it went down
Breakfast was a disappointment. We have had brunch here which was fantastic. Breakfast though had a poor selection. There was only one slightly chewy egg bennie left. There were only replenished only after another person complained and took too long to come out. If you do have breakfast here skip the buffet and order off the menu.
They seem to be short staffed, long time between making an order for a drink ordering dinner. It was very cold we had to leave our coats on our laps . The couple beside us wore their coats throughout dinner. The coup de grace was when our waiter presented us with the wrong bill. I really looked forward to going to this restaurant and there was just disappointment after disappointment.
Beautiful setting and great service. However one of our meals was very disappointing. It was suppose to be a Cobb Salad and it was more like a salad with crutons (which was strange for a Cobb Salad), a couple of tomatoes and pulled chicken which was very dry. That is much below expectation especially for a place like the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
I think that you should ask if there is Fairmont management will be dining in the restaurant before you make your reservation. It was unfortunate for me, hosting a good friend in from New York, for lunch this past Monday. Our matching cobb salad orders took 35 minutes to prepare and they were done wrong. While we waited for our lunches, staff was scurrying around serving a table of what looked like leadership and chefs eating at the common table near the back of the restaurant. Even when we told them that we were not satisfied with our lunches, nothing was done to fix it. As soon as the host asked us this question, she went back to taking care of this table of VIP's. I am pretty sure they are not paying the bills in the restaurant. I will think again before taking anyone to lunch at Notch8.
Extremely disappointing experience at Sunday Brunch Buffet.
Food and service:
Today I went to Notch 8 sunday brunch buffet ($60 per person) to treat my mom and sister in celebration of my birthday.
Previously, my friend told me she really enjoyed the buffet with personalized eggs benedict station with caviar toppings and also varieties of desserts including macarons, diy fruits yogurt parfait, exotic fruits like dragon fruits and berries, the famous omg cake etc.
My friend told me it was the best experience and worth the money even though it was on the expensive side.
So, I saved the date close to my birthday to go check out the buffet.
I also saw the menu up on their official website which they had
sous vide egg's benedict options and much more.
With my hopes up, when I arrived to the restaurant, I could not hide my disappointment. NO eggs benedict station, no fruits (had to order separately and even that only consisted of watermelon/ melon/ pineapple), small dessert station with only basic desserts such as squared carrot cake/ cheesecake/ crumble/ creme brule that can be seen at any buffets. The eggs benedict station was changed to a standard omelette/ eggs station with only basic ingredients (no caviar).
Overall, the food was good but I found it definitely not worth the expensive $60 pp, especially when the official website stated the menu included sous vide eggs/ caviar and much more. I felt cheated on. I could not hide my disappointment and asked the manager what happened. All the answer he gave me was that the chef who was in charge of the egg's benedict station has left the restaurant a year ago and that they did not realize the website was not updated. He told us he will go check up with the front desk regarding the menu and never came back to us to follow up. No compensation, no follow up, no apology.
Overall, definitely NOT worth at all for the expensive $60 pp just for a standard omelette station/ sausage/ bacon/ typical desserts.
Dinner was wonderful but the breakfast buffet was lacking, especially for the price and in comparison to other Fairmont breakfast buffets (and I mean the Fairmont basic breakfast buffets, not the special ones). Nothing special about it and most of the hot food was cold even though we were there at 745am and breakfast buffet is served until 9 or 10am. No carving station, no omelet station, only 3 types of pastries. The crepes and pancakes weren’t even edible by my kids. Essentially this review gets a 3/5 as the ambiance is great and the seats are comfy otherwise it would be a 2/5.
Birthday celebration for my wife. Glad we got the booth, but still pretty loud atmosphere. Would have preferred slightly better lighting inside the booth.
Variety of food was as usual nothing special. The service was not as expected. We waited for a while (at least 10 minutes) to get seated even though we had reservation. The reason was that the front greeting person went to help setup table for the early arrival party and he noticed several parties were waiting for his service. After we seated, there was no waiter to come asking us the drinks (again at least 10 mins). I didn’t expect the poor service in such a fine dining restaurant. We finally randomly ask one the waiters to ask for water. After I got my first plate of food, the waitress finally came and told us her manager told her to serve our table. Anyway, I had bad experience with them.
31st wedding Anniversary.
Delightful , unhurried brunch with old friend who had a nostalgic history with Hotel Vancouver.
As older gals we found the noise level to the advantage of our hearing .
Servers were more than attentive without making us feel rushed over a 2 hour! sit. Hotting the teapots was a lovely touch.
Worst experience I have had so far in Vancouver by FAR
Terrible food, I had the strangest tasting piece of fish, the pork belly app was not good.
Absolutely! This is my 4th visit to notch 8. For downtown Vancouver, I am always looking for a balance of food, service and ambiance. There are many places that is trendy without substance and this place is not it. It’s a gem of a place! Our service staff Tyson who helped my family (twice) was attentive and authentically nice!
Amazing night. Chef Peckham and staff made it a memorable night. Chef Peckham came out and talked us through the menu along with recommendations and he made a a few special risotto dishes just for us. TRULY AMAZING. The food was so fresh and full of flavour alongside great bubbles and wine selections. THANK YOU. We are going back in 2 weeks. 😀
Very pleasant experience, congenial staff but a little noisy (as is everywhere these days).
Awesome, I really appreciated the food and the ambience!
Had to wait to long for service. Food was satisfactory for the price.
Great live music
Service was poor. Server appeared dishevelled in appearance and did not engage when spoken to. No eye contact and no smiles....expected more from this restaurant.
Joe was the ultimate professional! The food was amazing
The price is really high for the quality of the food
It was an absolute joy staying at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver this past week. Notch 8 is the restaurant found in the lobby of the hotel where we enjoyed late-night food and drinks in the bar after a concert at the Orpheum Theater and then breakfast the next morning. Everything was lovely on both visits. The host was very polite, the restaurant is well-appointed, the service is professional and efficient and the food was very good!
The portion is small than I expected for the price. Was difficult to scoop up the desert without using fingers.
Food was good and so was the service. It was expensive but would do it again for a special occasion
Closed out an amazing day with our Anniversary dinner at Notch8 in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Incredible dinner (OMG Bison Carpaccio with hazelnuts & blue cheese crumble and Cheese Curd topped Mashed Potatoes!) with fun staff that made our evening super memorable. And we were double surprised with a decadent dessert platter comped by the hotel and the couple at the next table bought us a round of cocktails.
I immediately booked right after we celebrated my sister's birthday last time because of the great experience we had. But last Sunday's experience was a BIG disappointment, from the service to the quality of food. I originally requested for a seat by the fireplace since I wanted it to be special too because it's my birthday treat to my sister's boyfriend. But it was given to another customer who arrived just few minutes ahead of us despite my early reservation. The server was nice but needs to be more proactive and keen to details. Our plates and cutleries were already on top of each other before she could even remove them. We had to remind her about the coffee we requested 15 minutes ago before she could bring it to our table though she already brought fresh ones to other guests. There were two of them in the area at that time but both have poor service. The English muffins from the eggs benedict were to hard and the sponge on one of the desserts was too dry. I was expecting also that a birthday cake will be served to my sister's boyfriend like the last time when we celebrated her birthday too. It could have made the experience more personalized and memorable. Hopefully, we'll have a much better experience next time when we come back...If we ever we have the confidence to come back.
One of my favorites in Vancouver. Exceptional service, well plated and great flavored food.
This is an unusually busy evening. We blame our last min reservation and food does not met our usual expectations from previous visits. An unfortunately disappointment from our usual favourite joint.
Very good food and an excellent selection. I will definitely go back. The prime rib was superb.
Very nice meal , ate here originally as we are staying at the Fairmont but would eat here again
When I booked there was one question for what occasion. I clicked on bday because that was my bday. I thought and was hoping they would give me a little surprise like greetings or a small cake but nothing.
Excellent service, but the food was an absolute disappointment. Egg bene’s were dry under the heat lamps, and with an hour still to go, zero replenishing of sausages, and watery scrambled eggs. Only saving grace of the warm foods was the potatoes... guess you could not mess sautéing baby potatoes.
the waitress was not engaging or attentive and we had slow service
Poor food by the taste and look. Especially the lunch. We ordered a fish and a steak. They both looks like 5 dollar food. The environment is good but not the food. High tea is awesome.
Atmosphere was good, the food was amazing.
