I often choose Hotel restaurants for entertaing clients because I can make reservations and find a table that is quiet enough to be able to have business discussions - the food is relaiable . In most cases, I have not been let down. That said, in this case, we both left disapponted. The Octopus was much tougher than it should have been, my Club sandwhich had very cold meat and in an overly soaked in butter style grill and less than satisfactory bits of fries ($20). My guest asked for some bread to compliment his meal and he was served a whole loaf (though good) and this combined with a refill on a cranberry soda became a $11 add on. Total bill was $77 (plus tip) which on reconsideration, seems quite excessive - even by hotel standards. Not sure I will return.
Bland food excellent wine
It was great but the food is bigger than the plate for dine out. It was a birthday and we told them when we made the reservation and they make a really delicious cake
In addition to the impressive variety and quality of buffet dishes (which most other restaurants that serve Sunday buffet brunch no longer bother to describe creatively beforehand), the creative flair of displays was charming for Easter. Although the service on arrival was a bit awkward and disinterested due possibly to flustered or confused guests who consumed attention, the service was remarkable: not just the pleasant welcoming table service (two different staffers), but also the food display service, in which several different staffers took initiative to welcome us and encourage us to try all of their dishes; in particular, the Eggs Benedict and canape team (two different staffers) were extraordinarily friendly and gracious.
Went for weekend brunch buffet and found a moldy strawberry. And some of other strawberries also didn't look good at all. Reported to the server right away and the restaurant manager finally came (he showed up like 15 mins later after server went to look for him). His response was very casual and seemed he didn't think it was a big deal or something. It was a TERRIBLE, that's all I can say. NEVER GO BACK AGAIN.
Very nice restaurant. But if you looking for romantic night, it’s a good place to go.
Beautiful weekend brunch with excellent service. The waiter was very thoughtful. We were
celebrating our mutual birthdays. We had eaten so much that we had no room for dessert.
Our wonderful waiter packed two boxes of delicious pastries for us to take home.
We very much enjoyed the meal. “Under the forest canopy“ lived up to the promise of its rather fancy name, and the BC pinot noir by Meyer matched it perfectly. A return visit definitely on the cards!
We rally enjoyed the food - drinks ...especially the ceasar mixing station 😊 Quality at it's best ...
Food was exquisite, service was mediocre.
Great selection at the breakfast buffet. It gets even bigger during the branch but we were early. Still had plenty of choices that were tasty and satisfying. Would definitely recommend.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend. I placed a reservation requesting the best seats in the house and boy they did not disappoint! We were seated in a booth that was quite private but still able to enjoy the view of the restaurant. There was live music right around the corner of our booth which was quite nice. The beef tartare was amazing! A must try! The presentation will literally blow you away! The Elk was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented and the classic prime rib was just that, a classic. Will definitely be back to try their afternoon tea!
Best burger !
Good food, good service, will return.
Absolutely my favourite place in the city. I eat out a lot! Love everything about this swanky spot... from the chef’s creations, the impeccable servers, the atmosphere and live music, Sat and Sun brunch are phenomenal and dinners and drinks are as well! I keep bringing my entire circle of friends, family and colleagues here because I can’t get enough and want to share this awesome experience with them! They are always equally impressed! Thank you team Notch 8!
The place was nice. Friendly staff. The food was beautifully presented.
Good quality is good. Great menu selection for lunch. Tomato soup and sandwich was above average. Service was fair. Basic core service provided but for the venue and atmosphere notch 8 represents, I felt it was below expectations
Service was very slow and the Sunday mid day menu was very limited as they want everyone to indulge in the very expensive buffet! What we did order from the menu was very average and expensive.
Notch 8 is one of our favorite restaurants in Vancouver. The environment is excellent. The service is always very good. The daily special menu is very good. It is a good place for friends to get together or special celebrations.
Loved it! Service was prompt and pro with a friendly vibe. Accommodated vegan guest with innovative delicious meal. Wine pairing suggested were perfect . Top drawer
All the cooking shows I watch always say, if you put it on the plate - it should be edible. I got an appetizer displayed on a rock and twigs.... luckily the server advised not to eat the 'twigs'. Food wasn't that great for the price, and ambiance is nil - the bar area looks nice, but the restaurant is on two sides of the walkway to the bar. Didn't feel special for $ and enjoyment.
Sat buffet brunch is very good when the restaurant is not too busy. Staff couldn’t handle it today. We were never offered water. Tea nit refilled and drinks ordered were not brought to the table. Plates were left on the table for s long time. I had to flag down someone twice to give them my used plates. We were there for one hour only and we were handed the bill while we were almost done. It was really bad today...very odd.
A very beautiful setting with live background music matching the vibe well. Wait staff were very professional and provided the perfect level of attentiveness. Food was extemely well presented with a creative and delicious combination of flavours that were well balanced. Only downside was that my octopus was over done and a little chewy as a result.
It was bit noisy I was here for business meeting.
But overall good experience. Best vegetarian eggplant meat balls
never mind boring ambience or high price...
but the most important they seem not to have any cooks at their kitchen. at all.
raw minced meat with raw egg and onion pretending to be tartrar.
raw steak of unidendified animal (elk tasted the same as bizon)
same sause in two diff dishes (none?)
one of us puked when got home.
another one ended up with upset stomach. so far the worst dining experience in my life.
more details upon request.
recommendation: bring your date there if want to break up with them.
This place should be busier than it is. The food is very good, none of the prices are shocking.
Best prime rib in town.
Honey bread is v good.
Kids menu is v good.
Our dinner experiences at Notch8 have been wonderful, as has been the Afternoon Tea. However, on this visit we were there for the breakfast buffet. We arrived at 10 but by the time we were seated and ready to help ourselves to the buffet, it was closer to 10:15. Unfortunately they were closing the breakfast service at 10:30 and therefore the selection was limited and main staples such as bacon were not replenished. We did not go hungry, but at $37 a person, I must admit, we were both somewhat disappointed.
Best meal I have eaten in Vancouver! On par with Michelin starred restaurants.
The service and food were excellent. Our dinner was not rushed, atmosphere was relaxing and high end.
The three of us including my husband and my sister decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday night "dine out" experiences at the Notch8 restaurant Downtown. We ordered the 3-course set meal, everything went well with the appetizer beside the waitress seem to be unhappy waiting our table. The main course was where the nightmare began. I ordered the steak to be made medium rare. After a few bites I realized my steak was super chewy and overcooked. I asked the server to come over and look. She explained to me this is how it is done with everyone's dish and refused to make me a new steak. I complied and said fine can i order something else off the menu to replace the main course. So, I ordered a normal price main course on the menu, which was fine. When we asked for the bill, I was expecting them to credit the main course form the “dine out menu” out from our bill, but instead they charged me full price on everything including the steak I didn’t eat. I talked to waitress again and she began to be rude and said we have no rules like this! If you have any problems talk to my Manager. After a few min, the manager came over and explained that I ate more than half of the steak, and refused to refund. This is where I got disappointed and angry. This is the first time I dealt with a such unreasonable and irresponsible staff at a well-known restaurant. In conclusion after all the fiasco, the manager decided to only take 10 dollars off our bill to compensate for the "dine out menu" which is a total disrespect to their customers.
Awesome food. Awesome service. It's probably 10 times better than Black and Blue. Considering it's both 40 dollars dine out. Will be back regularly.
Food was delicious. Was here for Dine Out Vancouver.
Top notch dining.
Server Ashley was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly
It was our first time trying Notch 8 for Dine out the menu did not disappoint! Also the ambience and service overall greatly exceeded our expectations! The live music was a great addition we loved it!:)
The atmosphere is fantastic! Love the desserts! A place to go for special occasions (eg. Dates and etc)
We came for dine out, food was good, but could be better, as we all understood that that’s mass production for dine out.
angus beef was juicy
the chocolate lava cake was delicious
what a nice deal for dineout☺️
The nori chip texture was inconsistent. Some parts were chewy while others were crispy.
The striploin is presented like a prime rib and flavorful.
A good selection of wines that won’t put a big hole in your wallet.
Somewhat disappointed on the service and food at a restaurant that located in the Fairmont hotel. It was my first experience at this restaurant. I was trying their dine out menu and the steak and dessert already disappointed me and making me not wanting to return for another meal.
