Went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The ambiance was not there. Menu was okay. Had the steak and lobster Mac and cheese for $45 which was good. The place just didn’t have the vibe.
I participated in their brunch option. They have Small plates, medium plates and large plates. Small plates are 9 dollars, medium are 15 and large are 19.
I ordered large plate (salmon) and my friend ordered small plate. Our dishes were the same size. Let me put it another way - I paid 19 dollars for a bagel with salmon on it. There were no sides or anything else. Considering that Vancouver has so many amazing brunch options, this is embarrassing.
Eggs were also hard boiled. Finally, this was a birthday brunch but they didn't even give us some kind of mini cake or whatever. When I pointed out my 19 dollar salmon bagel, nothing was done. So, I don't think they care.
In times of COVID 19 restaurants should really up their game to entice people. This restaurant reminded me that I make better brunch at home. I wont be going back and I encourage everyone to avoid this place. There are hundreds of brunch places around the city.
Food came to table lukewarm to cool. Service was extremely slow. From the ordering process to the delivery we had to raise our hand several times to get our servers' attention and we normally don't ever do anything like that, but we couldn't get his attention. The food was really basic and the value wasn't there. I ordered a single burrata Benedict and a side of bacon. Both items were lukewarm at best. The poached egg was hard and the hollandaise was puckered and looked old. Burrata and tomatoes were tasty and the gluten free bread was a nice touch. Overall I would have preferred going somewhere else as the value really wasn't there.
Disappointing. To have such a mediocre restaurant for such a beautiful hotel is disappointing. Service was good, food so-so, ambience lacking.
Great restaurant and delicious food. Awesome service and nice atmosphere.
Ignored by the bartender and very mediocre service from the server.
The staff speak to you only when they are god and ready.
Lovely hotel, lousy staff.
Charcuterie board was disappointing to say the least, as the meats were lacking in quality, and I’ve never been served a charcuterie board without cheese, as the menu did not indicate that you have to request cheese after we complained.
There are far to many exceptional restaurants in Vancouver to want to ever return to Notch 8
An amazing spot for an evening drink! Not many appetizer options and the charcuterie does not include cheese - it would be nice to have additional snacks for late-night drinks or pre-dinner appie.
Great atmosphere, good social distancing, Fairmont like service
One cold poached egg with browned avocado for $19! No potatoes or fruit. What has become of this formerly fine restaurant? Please find a chef who takes pride in their work.
Thank you Clarke for welcoming us and our waiter Tariq who was very attentive and food was delicious thank you.
1)The drink was not the one we ordered.
2)We all waited for food.
3)I left a note for you i booked a table for my boyfriend birthday for dinner and celebration. We waited for the birthday plate after dinner, but there was no news from you
I was very embarrassed.
Celebrated our 11th wedding Anniversary. The food was great, chicken karaage was soooo good and 12$ is totally a good price. Our server Jacqueline was so attentive and had a great customer service. It was a lovely night.❤️
Great helpful staff
I was surprised to realize that a hotel such as the Fairmont Vancouver has only one dining establishment. We went to High Tea (not worth the value) and had their Thanksgiving Dinner (nothing too exciting, but not expensive). The restaurant was absolutely freezing, but the servers were kind enough to move us to another part of the restaurant with less air conditioning (it's October!), and then seated us in front of the fireplace for our nightcaps.
Remember, this hotel is situated in the heart of the city, so there are many great restaurants within walking distance. But, if time is of the essence, this will suffice.
Being a restaurant inside the Fairmont Vancouver hotel, I was expecting something a little bit more upscale in the food sector. We went to dine their Thanksgiving dinner and the only thing worth remembering was the squash soup. One of the best I've ever had, but that's it, the rest of the meal was... "bah". To make things worse, our table was in direct line with the main entrance and both doors were wide open, letting in this chilling air current that hit me all night to the point I had to wear my coat during dinner, and yes I know, I should have said something instead of waiting if someone from staff offered to shut the door once they saw me eating with my coat on, but no, the service sector dropped the ball there. All that said, after a "bah" meal, and a couple of cocktails each that were also not that impressive, the bill came at over $250 tip included. Yeah, that's a lot of money for a Thanksgiving dinner that rivalled those served by the churches to those communities folks that have nowhere else to go and need a warm meal, heck those are actually reeaaaallly good!! I guess now I know where to go next year.
Food was fabulous. I’ve always had great food and service at Notch8. Its a favourite of mine.
Menu was subpar, not many options. Drinks weren't the tastiest, the flavor mixtures didn't work well with cocktails, at all.. especially considering the prices. Steak was asked to be medium but was way over cooked, charcuterie board had no cheese.
We came for Fried Chicken Friday, which was good value. Everything was great, including service - though, service was a little sparse.
Terrible service, overprice food, extremely loud TVs blaring, and definitely would not dine there again.
Service was horrendous and food was lackluster. Not what I expected from a Fairmont, let alone the Hotel Vancouver. Might as well have gone to Joey or the Cactus Club, which, in comparison to this particular experience have much better service and cuisine.
We were celebrating our daughter birthday, and everything went great, our waiter was very attentive to our needs, everything went great, thank you so much. I would have given 5 stars across but I wasn’t happy, at the end this lady, she was helping our waiter, decided that we have been long enough and almost ask us out. Not nice.
It would have been five out of five, but we were in a horrible horrible spot (the last spot I would’ve wanted) and there was another patron that was drunk and loud in a booth and the noise level wasn’t acceptable until he left. However, the entrees were excellent.
Excellent service, well appointed menu.
We had reservations. Waited at the hostess table and front door to be seated for 10min. I saw a waitress who was wiping the bar counter. Walked in and asked if we seat ourselves. She said no I will be there in a minute and continued to wipe the counter top. When she completed her task she came and seated us. The restaurant was not busy and we should not have had to wait for her that long to seat us. We where placed beside a table of 4 children who where all colouring and next to them there family. This was late evening around 9pm. My group of people and I where extremely disappointed with the entire vibe. We thought this was a lively up beat and up scale place to have some food and dinner. I asked the hostess if we can sit somewhere else she did not answer my question instead told me I need a mask. We ended up leaving and continued our night some where else. Disappointing evening. Sorry to say. It was a waste of our money and time.
I had the worst time at Notch 8. If you’re under the age of 70 please don’t go. You will be judged and stared at. The waitress was so disrespectful and rude she switched with the waiter. Never going back
Really awesome! We were here for the Friday Fried Chicken feature - very well executed at an excellent price and good portions. Very warm and caring service from Pedro! We look forward to coming again!
The food is not as good as I expected. Service is fair, nothing excited.
A step back in time with a hint of modern flare, it was a treat to finally be in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Though we waited for our bill much longer than we liked, we still loved the ambience and our sever was very kind and sweet.
The services wasn’t very great nor the ambience. If the piano wasn’t playing it was very quiet and dull. Food was amazing especially the appetizers. Server got our order wrong and had no personality or even try to have a conversation with us. it was straight to business took our orders (which he got wrong) and walked away. for an a restaurant charging these prices i expected a better experience.
We celebrated my wife's birthday and enjoyed a wonderful meal as well as ambience. Our server for the evening was exceptional and polite without hesitation to make our night special even with a surprise birthday dessert. We will return without a doubt
What happened to the food and the service here??! I remember coming here prior to COVID and the food and the service was amazing. The food was terrible yesterday and the menu was so basic. Definitely not the usual at Notch 8. Our food took so long to arrive. I understand covid has everyone in a jam but it wasn’t busy and it still took ridiculously long. If anything In this pandemic I believe restaurants should actually step up the quality of their food and service instead of cutting costs.
Thoroughly disappointing. We decided to got to Notch 8 on 08/07/20, I had been given a fairmont gift card from my work and we thought this would be a nice dinner experience in a fairmont restaurant. Started by wondering in to find the host for our reservation he quickly acknowledged and led us to a table of six(there was 2 of us) we thought nothing of it with covid 19 being spaced out on larger than normal tables is common. However when asked when others were joining us and we said it’s just us, it turned out we got sat at someone else’s reservation table and instantly were asked if we just walked in and grabbed any table or if we were sat by the host (felt offended that we were potentially being blamed straight off for the error). We would have happily moved to a table for two if asked, we weren’t but we did hear the server and host bickering behind us about the reservation which made us uncomfortable. Reservation was for 6:00 we got drinks at fairly quickly by 6:15 but it was a full half hour after this 6:45 before the server addressed us for another drink not even food. We just decided to order everything at this point drinks/starters and a main to save having to wait an age for service again.
Starter arrived no issues was a nice French onion soup, the house lager we were drinking was also really nice.
Main arrived while the starter plates were still on the table finished no more than 5mins.
I got the “The burger” and my partner got the “caprese ravioli”. The chips were fine but the dream sauce on the burger was just overpowering borderline sickly with the amount of it. The ravioli was below average for its price of $36 burrata cheese topping was like a cold glup which cooled everything else and made the meal unenjoyable. We had finished what we could by 7:40. I didn’t see the server until 8:05 to be able to pay the bill. Effectively only stayed for this meal past the first drink because I had a gift to use up before we fly home. Only place in 2 years $0 tip.
Happy hour should be happy, thank goodness for my company! Our server Sherrie was completely disconnected from us and did not check back in at all on our drinks or food...we had 1 drink for an extended happy hour and never offered if we wanted or needed more. We were there for 2 hours!like unsaid, thank goodness for the company I keep! They just reopened for business and maybe not prepared for how busy it was, but still dont make an excuse for raising the bar in the customer service experience, it was definitely disappointing. We shared our disbelief with Raymond the director of banquets and he was very empathetic, we appreciated the small discount he gave us and will come again to see if they can redeem the dismay!
The meal as always was awesome! Service also friendly. It’s hard to go wrong eating here.
We had a reservation and once we were seated at our table no server came to take our drink orders, bring cutlery, menus or anything. Ended up requesting water and a server to come to our table after 15 minutes of being ignored. The restaurant was Very empty as well. Food was good but I wouldn’t go back. Too expensive for no service.
Thank you! Your service was so good! And we loved the place!! So beautiful
It was Saturday night. We were the first couple tables arrived. I guess the menu changed a lot from 2 years ago? Or maybe due to covid 19? A fine dine restaurant turned into bar food like restaurant? We ordered plenty of food and quality was pretty average. My burger was on the dryer side. The best were wings, corn soup and onion soup. Service was pretty authentic....we got two serves to serve us which was pretty confusing for the whole time, sometimes they ask the same question twice. I did managed to give feedbacks to floor manager and he was pretty nice. At the end he took care of the dessert bill. (In house) I will probably return when to original menu comes back.
Great place for a lunch meeting.
Lamb stake was small and dry, doesn’t worsts money at all. We’ve ordered 4 or 5 different starters and non out of 4 people from our company liked it.
Service is good but food is not at all. Don’t waste your money, please. We left hungry and unhappy
