Went here for a valentines meal. We normally love the fairmont restaurants and have been to many. However this meal was sub par and way over priced for what it was. The dessert tasted like something you'd buy at 711.

Overall, I would say the money was not worthy to spend in Notch 8.
We were greeted by a server that looked like he was in a hurry to get each table done. And we came at 11am, when the restaurant just opened. My girlfriend and I ordered Braised Beef Short Rib and Egg Benedict, along with coffee and orange juice. The menu said all meals are accompanied with the choices of different sides and drinks like juice, coffee or tea. They charged us $6.00 for an OJ that was probably poured from a Minute Maid juice box into a tiny glass. Since there weren’t any price mentioned next to that line, we assumed that the drinks were free of charge, but it could be our mistake on misinterpreting the menu. Anyway, the server came back with our drinks and placed my drink on my girlfriend side and hers on my side, so I thought not a big deal, probably too early of the morning for this guy. But what I noticed was that he placed the two coffee spoons right on top of the table’s surface, and he did the same thing on others’ tables. Not trying to be picky but even in IHOP the server would placed your spoon on a napkin, or even a small plate that you put your coffee mug on. We all know tables’ surface are not that clean!
Fast forward to when the food came, the server again placed our dishes the other way around and quickly walked away to serve another table. Now we were pretty shocked because we didn’t expect this kind of behavior in such a restaurant. Again, in any regular diners the server would ask which dishes belonged to whom and correctly placed them. The food quality was fantastic, I won’t lie. My Benedict was beautifully done as well as the short rib, very tender and juicy. Delicious Hollandaise and corn bread! On the other hand, during the entire meal, the server not once came to our table and checked on us.
In general, the service in Notch 8 was poor and below its standard for the type of restaurant it is. I would rather spent my money on places like Joey’s for better servic

I think the food made up for the whole experience . The tables they have set up for guest are very uncomfortable and just awkward when you have to sit right beside your guest instead of in front of them . I see many people request to changes their tables because of this . Service was subpar for a big end restaurant . We waited for at least 10min before evening getting asked if we would like some water or anything to drink . I actually had to ask twice for water . It just seemed like the waiter was very stressed . I would go back for the steak but not the service .

Excellent. My boyfriend and I both had the steak frites and it was the best we've ever had. Great ambiance, vibe, look, food and service. We really enjoyed our dinner. Highly recommend.

Very disappointed. Seat cushions were filthy, had to ask to be moved.

Service was rushed and our $23 glass of wine was spilled everywhere when Server poured, and no replacement was offered.

Dine out menu was underwhelming and expensive.

Over all has huge hopes for this restaurant and it was very poor from start to finish.

Notch8 was perfect for an intimate round of birthday cocktails and appies before dinner reservations. We ended up have quite a bit to eat, everything was delicious and the cocktails ( we tried a variety) were perfect. The service was prompt and efficient. The best was the decor and ambience, so beautiful inside.

We had gaiven up on Notch 8, even though I am passionate on all things Fairmont. The food, no matter whether it was morning, noon and night, had much to be desired. A year later I craved High Tea, so we headed to the only place in town serving teatime starting at noon. Superb is not enough to say what a pleasant surprise awaited us. From the scones, to a variety of tea sandwiches that by now I’m totally addicted to. There was no scrimping on anything, everything including the service was impeccable. So much so, we returned the next day for Prime Rib Sunday Dinner, another hit. Nothing was missed, from the Yorkshire pudding to a rib roast, medium well done to perfection, as I had requested. Hotel restaurants are usually overpriced and underdone, not here at Notch 8. Coupled with the old world ambience the Fairmont chain of hotels are famous for with outstanding service to match, what’s not to love?

Our seating and the seating next to us was very unclean and unsightly. My wife had the Sable fish for $41. It was bland, watery and not to par with a dish costing that much money. I had the squash pasta. It lacked any punch and was a very small potion. I had to eat again at another restaurant after leaving.
To top it off, the waiter gave us thw wrong bill and then dissappeared. It was not a dinner experience I expected from the Fairmont.

It feels we were being fed extremely overpriced pub food. I know it's Covid times and we all have to tighten our belt, but that was a bit much.

This place may be advertised to be something it’s not. If it’s a hotel restaurant for guests to eat, then great, no complaints, you pay a premium to get food in the hotel, no worries. But when it’s advertised as one of the top restaurants in the city, then my review gets critical. I won’t complain about the wine list, it was pretty good. The restaurant is under staffed... we barely received adequate service. The quality didn’t live up to the hype either. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

We had New Year brunch on Jan 2nd and ordered two fried chicken nothing was memorable... there was significant discrepancies between the two waffle dishes; one order the waffle was done nicely while the other were soggy. The salad was a little watery and the sliders were clearly overcooked as the patties had the texture of a cardboard. The braised short rib was the only acceptable dish. The food were certainly not acceptable for such an establishment.

We ordered 3 dishes. 2 had to be sent back as they were cold. 3rd dish came at wrong time. When it finally arrived the pancakes were undercooked and doughy. For a high end new years brunch this was an amature effort. Staff was polite and courteous though. All in all not impressed and will not be back!

We went there with our family for New Year's Day Brunch we were served a couple of items and then waited and waited and waited. The manager came to our table and asked if we wanted some fruit while we waited for our meals. We declined as we just wanted our food. We sat there for TWO HOURS without being served our main courses but with intermittent apologies from staff. We saw exactly what we had ordered being taken to other tables. We walked out, starving and went to Joe Fortes where they rescued us with a delicious meal with a wait no longer than ten minutes.
