    I got sick that evening (could have been something else) but either way at the restaurant we only saw our server once every 20 min or more and had to ask for the bill 3 times. To order our they came 30 min after we ordered our starter. While the food was good we were there much longer than we had to be.

    Put at small table facing wall when better tables available , we should have have asked for a different table. Initial service slow ,after waiting 10 minutes had to get up and ask where the waiter was. He had passed our table several times without serving us .The service was ok after that.Overall experience very average.

    You’re in the Hotel Vancouver so it’s going to be expensive understandably. I had the charcuterie to start and was expecting local cheeses and cured meats. It appeared to be a Costco representation with some cut up pickled asparagus chunks and olives. Disappointed. I had a salad and chicken breast for dinner and both were “fine”. Service was good but not fantastic. The convenience of the restaurant in the hotel was the best part.

    The service is kind of slow. It took them more than 30mins to give us our soup. Other than that everything is okay. The food is just okay. The crushed potato is a bit salty to my liking but the mains are good.

    My wife and I had Sunday Brunch at Notch 8 on Sunday, 23 April 2023. The food is outstanding. Particular highlights were the beef/lamb station, the candied salmon, and the salad bar that featured a delicious marinated Greek Salad. There were a variety of breakfast staples - eggs benedict, crepes, bacon, potatoes, and the like - on offer as well. The desserts are great too; among the dozen or so items on offer, I particularly enjoyed the banana bread pudding with a variety of sauces. Coffee/tea and a glass of juice are included.

    Fish and chips.. too much over cooked batter and mushy fish. Manager gave us a partial refund. Caesar salad and bread pudding was good.

    I have been there several times before Covid, the food was good. But this time, the food was not worthy, first time they did not even offer steak. The variety of food was limited comparing to other buffet, the price went up. After tax and tips around 100 per person. Not worthy at all. They were disappointed. The waiter was very helpful and friendly so we tip him big, it’s not his fault that the food was not good enough.

    They had live music playing in the bar area. The dining area is on the darker side in terms of lighting. Ambience is cool and modern. Our waiter, Gordon, was very kind and attentive. The marinated spring vegetables were absolutely superb! And the pea mousse that sits on top, is so delicious!!!!! It is a MUST try if you enjoy vegetables. We had the prime rib and ocean harvest risotto. Both were great. I appreciated the risotto not being cream based. It had some sort of hard cheese as an accent flavor and it was lovely.

    I cleaned my plate! The char siu salmon was delicious. Service was excellent. My partner’s steak was good. Not the best in town, but a nice value for a restaurant in this price point. The only drawback for me was the live music - and not because it was bad! On the contrary - the musician was very good, especially as a solo performer. Walking into a fine dining restaurant and hearing live classic rock was just kind of weird. It was loud, too, I had a hard time hearing the waiter. It just didn’t fit the space, it made the restaurant feel like it was attached to a bar, not the other way around. Maybe it would have been more appropriate later in the evening? We were there for dinner at 6. Again, the music was great, just seemed an odd, loud choice for “fine dining.”

    I booked this dinner reservation for a landmark birthday celebration and it did not disappoint! We were greeted by the host and our waitress with nothing but a smile. Our dinners, drinks and dessert was delicious and we had a beautiful, comfy booth that made the night all the better. It was a perfect evening and thank you Notch8 for a memorable, fun evening!

    My food was comped with no explanation why. Which is fine not complaining but assuming it’s because it took a very very long time and my steak had no flavor and neither did the mash potatoes. I think someone knew they were slapping food together in a hurry and didn’t take the time to season anything. The waiter seemed very irritated by us.

    This was my first time visiting Notch 8 . We were a party of 7 celebrating my sisters birthday. First of all the place is beautiful. I felt it was very elegant and had a luxurious feeling to it . It’s also situated inside the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver . When my husband and I showed up we waited for nearly 15 minutes to be greeted. Finally we did get greeted it was by a server who told us the host was busy. The server did take the other two groups and seated them in the bar . We finally were helped at 8:58pm. Our reservation was for 9 and then waited for another 15 minutes to be finally seated . Once inside we switched our tables near the live band . The singer was amazing ! He really interacted with the customers and I really enjoyed his singing. The service provided by the server was absolutely ridiculous. We had an older man server who helped us. He looked cranky and very over whelmed. Every time we saw him we had to yell for him to take our order . He seemed very rushed . He would take one order and leave but we would have to flag him down to order more food and more drinks. We were only there maximum 2 hours and only ordered 4 meals. Perhaps he got over whelmed with all the drinks we ordered , I’m not sure . Over all it wasn’t the best experience but I think I would try it out one more time :)
