NOVI Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
Celebrating mother’s birthday
Food was great but ambiance and decor were nothing special. Beef is their specialay.
Fantastic meal with friends - wonderful service. Variety of entrees ordered - steak, scallops all were served perfect. Wine list outstanding.
Wait staff was phenomenal!
Beef entrees were just OK. Sides were good. Mixed drinks were excellent. Selected this restaurant as it was closer to our home than the Capital Grill. Next time we'll drive a little further.
We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary with a very special dinner at the Novi Chophouse. The decor was welcoming but sophisticated. Started out with a split of Prosecco to toast 42 years, proceeded with the Morel bisque and a wedge salad. My wife had the fillet and I had the largest portion of lamb chops I have ever been served - cooked to perfection. We both had a glass of our favorite full bodied red wine and shared the asparagus with Béarnaise sauce and the Au Gratin potatoes. Our waited provided the right amount of attention/suggestions during the course of the evening. It turned into one of our most memorable anniversaries - Thank-you.
Steak was well done and consistent. Very few large sections of fat and good marbling. Alot of steakhouses I pitch almost 1/4 of the ny strip steak since it's just a strip of fat. Cook on the scallops was right on, just a touch under seasoned. Potato au gratin was very good. Lobster bisque and morrell bisque were both very good. The lobster in the bisque was well done and not rubbery like most. The bearnaise tasted almost exactly like what I make at home.
Very good food and service but not worth the price
Wife ordered the Novi signature, steak was drowned in sauce, which is all you tasted. Lobster tail was good as were the lobster mashed potatoes. It was all piled on a small plate, some items on top of each other. They should have plated it on a larger plate.
We also, ordered a charcutere board, wouldn’t order again. The smoked salmon was fishy. Pate was bleh. Chicken curry (?)was ok.
Side of king crab legs looked like snow crab, also fishy taste.
Drinks were decent. Overall wouldn’t visit here again. The price didnt reflect the taste.
It’s a little hard to find but the steaks and seafood are terrific. It’s pricey, but for a quiet special dinner it’s worth it.
Christmas Dinner w 10 Family members. Food and Service were both terrific. This was our 4th time doing this and will be back again next year.
Someone give Todd (yes there's two, but he'll know.) a raise. He was just as witty as our whole table was. Bent over backwards to accommodate a group of 8, thorough, and quick to fix whatever (minor) issues we did have.
Apps and sides were good but the steaks were horrible. The staff and service was great.
Excellent food and service. Fantastic place for dinner and good wine.
Great food.Ken was slot of his k pledge of the foods.
Great menu with lots of choices. Appetizers were delicious, but for a steakhouse that specializes in meat everyone in our party was disappointed. There was absolutely no seasoning on any steak and it was very plain. I would rather spend the same amount of money at a steakhouse like Fleming's, Eddie Merlot's, Cameron's, Lelli's etc. I was not impressed with NOVI Chophouse. I take it since it was quite empty in the restaurant, most people feel the same way.
Some of the steaks were really good...some were okay. The place was quiet and the service was excellent.
I will never eat at this restaurant again. If you choose to go, please order the shrimp appetizer, for laughs. The steaks were average at best, the potatoes were dry and clumpy but overall, very disappointing. If you are comfortable eating at Outback, this is is the steak house for you.
The food was really good. It was our first time trying it and we were highly satisfied.
Expensive meal that didn't have the quality to match. The services people were excellent, but the entree took a while to get out. It was not busy and this was a late meal - we sat at 7:15 PM. My steak (21 day dry aged strip), which was ordered medium rare, was slightly over done and was medium. A truly quality cut should have survived this imperfection in cooking, but didn't. The thickness was even throughout, so the ends should not have been overdone. The Lobster mashed potatoes were great - this was the best part of my meal. Lots of other options available within a short drive and next time, I will take up those options. Lastly, it was a bit loud and we asked to be moved to a quieter section, which was promptly done. Again, the staff was great and what you would expect.
Great night out with 2 families with our kids. They have a private room that really worked well for our table of 10. Service was really good and so was the food. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees, most ordered Steak. The only mark down I would give is the ambiance takes a little hit with the location being within the hotel and what sounded like the pool being next door to the room where our table was.
Very nice but very very pricey and small portions
Soup was just warm as were the potatoes
Beet salad was “ok”
Filet was delicious
It took a very long time to get our dinner even though the restaurant was not busy. The mushroom soup was amazing! Brussels sprouts were charred and lacking flavor. Scallops were great and my husband had a surf and turf that was good, as well. We told the server that it was my husband's birthday and we weren't offered a complimentary dessert or anything special.
Food was great.
A nice place to have a special dinner for a special occasion
Visiting family from out of town! Our waiter TJ was great. The management was TERRIBLE! My husband ordered a bone-in filet for $66. It was raw the first time it was served and when they brought it back a second time it was still raw!! We also ordered a bottle of wine and it took 20 minutes to receive it because they could not find it!!!! Really??? Will not be back! Assistant manager was a joke and avoided our table completely. When we asked to speak to a manager, it took 15-20 minutes for him to show up at our table. Odd behavior for such a high end restaurant!
Despite of couple last almost negative review we decided to try this place, again. (We were there already 4-6 times, having pleasant expressions, while last two visit we decided that quality of that place were worsened.)
This time we have only good feeling from our visit!
Meat was in requested condition, testy and with nice side food and sauces!
Service completely reasonable: no long waiting; no annoying 'how is ...' or long speeches !
The wine FOR US was 'under special attention'! :) And we have got only positive on that site! (That is not easy with us. For sure!!)
We have limited server with price and asked to advice a wine that would be nice for us, describing our preferences. Chances to have successful selection on such claim close to zero; but we have something nice from second advise!
So we left the place in perfect mood with only good feeling!
(I guess, it was some period when it start to loose it's quality, but, seems they comes back to high!)
We went here for a business meal. The ambiance is very nice and the food was excellent. Service was the best I’ve had in a long time.
Not the greatest. For a $300+ meal with clients I expect a lot more- my steak was well done (asked for medium) mashed potatoes were pasty, green beans mushy. Outback Steakhouse would've been a better meal.
This place has consistently gone down hill over the years - like the hotel it's attached to, is to be avoided. Drive the 30 min to Ann Arbor Chop House.
We were very disappointed. The price point is extremely expensive, the restaurant is in a strip mall - and they keep it VERY DARK to hide the face that there is NO ATMOSPHERE. Four of us each ordered a different entree, and we shared several sides. The meat was fine, but not awesome, as the price would suggest it should be. I didn't think it was of the caliber of Morton's Ruth's Chris, or other high end steakhouses. We had a veal chop, a NY strip, and the meat flight - supposedly 4 oz of each of four different steaks. The four we were presented were culotte, fillet, strip, and one tiny lamb chop. I don't think those were the four listed on the menu (culotte may have been substituted for something else), and the one one tiny lamb chop was clearly not 4 ounces. The sides were unexceptional and $10-12 each for small portions - four of us each had a small spoonful of each one. The dessert (Novi Dome) was average - the presentation was interesting but the flavors were not . There are lots of fabulous restaurants out there that are much better for less. We won't go back.
This was a weak restaurant at best. I heard great things But... When I arrived we were sat in the back near the kitchen and could hear everything. I ordered the $70.00 tomahawk and they brought me a pork chop (dry...). I sent it back and when my 3 companions were completely done their meals...My giant steak arrives. I was given a double drink to make up for it and when we received our bill I was charged for 2 drinks. Ridiculous and Amateur establishment. If it ever used to be good it has gone WAY downhill.
The entire evening was wonderful. Todd was excellent. Will be going back.
Great restaurant, great food, great staff...definitely recommend
The prime rib special was outstanding-best we've had in ages. Not cheap but worth the money .
The waiter was very good. The drink prices on the menu are a joke. A Chivas price of $9.00 on the drink menu jumps to $13.25 when it's on the rocks. Never realized "rocks" could be so expensive. The manager, Jonathan, explained the 1/3 more pour in the drink bringing the $9 to $13.25 but the math was all wrong- 1/3 is $3 more not $4.25. Too bad his arrogance was not matched by his math skills or lack there of. He gave back the dollar difference per drink but not the .25. Told him he could keep his patronizing difference which was still incorrect and give it to the waiter. Horrible way to end as nice evening. Customer service is definitely not on the menu nor are the correct prices for drinks.
We have frequented No. VI Chophouse for a number of years, but will not be returning. First, we waited for a VERY long time after we were seated to be approached by a waiter or busboy - one of us went to the front desk to make that happen. The major flaw was that one of us ordered a fish dish the came with a very tiny piece of fish on top of a small pile of veggies. When we called it to the attention of our waiter, he did nothing. He should have called over a manager to straighten things out. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
We had been to NOVI Chophouse once before and LOVED the steak tartare. They revamped their menu and we were disappointed to see that it had disappeared. We called and were ecstatic to find that they would make it for us with advance notice. EXCELLENT FOOD! The steak tartare was fantastic and our steaks were perfectly cooked. Couldn't have asked for a better anniversary meal.
It was very loud when we arrived. I ordered the whipped potatoes and was told they did not look good and to try a different item. I ordered the scalloped potatoes, they came out freezing. I ordered the crème Brule for dessert and it had no flavor and the texture was not right. This chop house needs to learn from Ann Arbor Chop House how to do things.
Service was great, food was great. Love dining at the Chop house!!
The entrance from the hotel was not in line w/ the price of the meal. The meals were over priced for the ambiance of the place. The wine list for a chop house was poor.
The waiter and manager were very professional and attentive.
The food was great, it just did not align w/ the overall experience.
We love this place for a quiet dinner together. The filet is our go to entree. My wife loves the Brussels. The drinks are always good too.
Great waiter and great food!
