It was excellent. The oysters were the freshest that I ever are. The swordfish was delicious and the steak was perfect! Highly recommend this place. Make sure to make reservations way ahead of time.

A very busy night at the OEG, but the staff and service were fantastic. The server was knowledgeable, explained the menu with great detail. He was attentive and responsive, good humoured although obviously very busy, and the food came surprisingly quickly. Great job all round.

We were seated at a great table immediately, even though we arrived a bit early. Our server, Eric, really took care of us for our anniversary lunch. Only downside is the stairs to the restroom, as my husband uses a cane. We will return on our next trip to the District.

Wish I could remember our servers name. He was great and very helpful with the Oyster questions my friend had. Always a solid choice when I have people in from out of town...historical and great food and service. What more could you ask for.

The drinks were cold and on point. The appetizers where delicious. If I could have bottled the juice the mussels were steamed in that would have made it perfect. Dinner was amazing and the creme brulee finished off the night.

Freshest oysters in town. Great selection of other seafood. The softshell crab was delicious. Best service you could ask for. Tremendous selection of of beers and wines. A favorite of locals and visitors. It's been there for 150+ years for good reasons. You don't need a reservation, but make one anyway for extra special location and attention. Tip accordingly.

This place is an institution. The food is excellent, fresh, and the menu is quite diverse. If you love seafood this is the place to go! We really enjoyed everything about our experience here. The service was amazing.

We asked for a quiet table and we got a booth in the corner! How great is that? I took foreign friends because it is so typically American. We had a very attentive server and a pleasant experience. I wouldn't give the food five stars but it was fine.

Meeting an old friend after having lost contact for about 14 years. Being able to sit in a comfortable booth and chat at length, with the perfect amount of interruptions from our server, eating delicious food, was wonderful. The only downside was the high noise level, which sometimes made it hard to hear each other.

I was not impressed with the quality of the food. The ambiance is great and the location across the from the Treasury and White House is an awesome, but there’s nothing special about the food. It’s just classic American. Good for a burger or other sandwich, but nothing crazy. Great quality oysters though. The rest of the raw bar is not probably good too.
