Old Hickory Steakhouse

Food was very good. Service was excellent. Price was expensive.
The lady at the front desk hold me until the precise time of my reservation just to be precise !!! Really ! Plenty of available tables. Waiters more concerned in arranging empty tables instead of serving the clients. I ordered a glass of wine and the waiter poured the last wine in the bottle which was less then a half glass. So, this is the type of service you will finds there.
Great dining scene for formal dining. Expensive prices but well worth it from the outstanding service and menu selections. Will definitely return when looking for a place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary event.
Convenient location in hotel, food well prepared. Service excellent.
Be warned, this is not a steak house. Servers at a real steak house should be able to describe the cuts of meat, how they are prepared, and differences between the few selections they did have. We were amused, but barely, that the server pointed to the area under their arm to describe the steak. didn't tell us very much about what to expect, how it would taste, how it was prepared, nothing. the best thing going for this restaurant is the young lady who brought around the cheese cart, and described them with so much passion and knowledge. Really disappointed.
I ordered chicken but it was very dried. My daughter ordered fish and it was very fishy. My husband ordered steak which was good but not better than any restaurants we have been and we only paid 30-45$ instead of paying $70. We were very disappointed!
food was flavorless. fish was dry. the wavy steak was so chewy as to be inedible.
We had a lovely experience overall. An amuse bouche at the front of the meal would have been nice. Our server Rueben was fantastic and very patient and sweet. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was outstanding!
Below average service. Steak took an hour and was cooked too raw. Waiter disappeared often.
Our waiter was very personable. He treated my kids, who were celebrating their 13th birthday, as knowledgeable adults. He made recommendations, listened to their requests, and made their dinner special.
Came here for a birthday celebration. Food was amazing as expected. Got the crab cake and poached scallops for appetizers. Had the Tomahawk steak, which is a massive 38oz cut from rib (and includes a bone shank cut open to allow you to get to the wonderful marrow). The steak is billed for two but could easily feed three people. Great views of the river and sunset from floor-to-ceiling windows. Price is $$ but great for a special occasion.
Waiter explained the menu and meal to the Caucasian couples to the left of us and spoke nothing about the menu to us and we were seated before them.
Horrible service, wife and daughter in my party were served second after I was served I.e. salad, main and drinks.
Food was fair, our food sat next to our table as the waiter talked with the other table.
I will NEVER spend another dime in this restaurant and very upset with the service.
Waiters are excellent and know their stuff. The steak was perfect and the asparagus was best I’ve ever had, just the right crispness. The orange slice in my Old fashion cocktail was crisp enough to eat and I did; yum!
As part of our stay, we wanted to eat on-site. Once we found the entrance, we were led to the dining area overlooking the river. Jazz played, a little loudly for me, but was very tasteful. My husband and I both ordered steaks, with mushrooms and spinach. The portions were large and the meat was cooked perfectly. We ordered a Napa Valley red to complement which truly rounded out our experience. The wait staff was fabulously attentive and pleasant, as if we were regulars and had known each other for a long time. Be prepared to spend, but it was worth every cent!
Kindness of The staff
Steak was a little tough but it could’ve been my fault ordering a well done option instead of medium well. 🤦🏽♂️
The service was outstanding and left us wanting for nothing. The food was good and prepared well, but want spectator for the price that was charged. Four of us ate steaks with three shared sides for almost $500 with tip. I'm used to paying for what you receive and believe this was a bit pricy for the quality. The setting inside the Gaylord in National Harbor could have been a wonderful experience, but was simply tables and chairs with white table cloths...nothing spectacular.
We will return but not often.
Lovely dining experience and the wait staff was very attentive and met our larger group's needs with skill. The cost of (decent) wine was fairly exorbitant so it was a bit of an eye-opener to find that three bottles almost equaled the cost of our food. That was the only damper on the evening when it came time to pay the bill. However, everything else was superb.
The cheese plate appetizer was the best part. Steaks were ok but not exceptional, especially for the price. Service was outstanding.
Very nice decor. Excellent food, tho breads a bit boring for upscale. I expected more formal, less noise.
We had dinner with my sister and her husband. We wanted a special place for a special dinner and this was it! Wonderful ambiance and views. Fabulous service from a waiter with an engaging personality who added to the celebratory nature of our dinner. Fair warning that most folks would consider this dinner to be expensive. It's not hard to hit the $400 mark for dinner for four with drinks.
Food was excellent. Ruben, our server, and the bus person were also excellent. The only smallest suggestion is that we were seated in the farthest dining room and the lights could have been a bit dimmer, but that is a really minor matter, and we will certainly return when in the area.
I went to OHS with a couple colleagues for a nice meal and good conversation. First issue was that they did not receive notification from OpenTable, through which our reservation was made. I showed them the OT app which clearly displayed our reservation. One of the hostesses told us that reservations sometimes go to the Nashville facility instead of coming to them. How odd.
Dinner began well enough but a number of attendees from a political conference arrived after we did. They were loud and swearing quite a bit. It appeared that they flustered our waiter because midway through our meal, he disappeared. We never learned his fate. We waited and waited for a check, finally flagged someone else down who got it to us. We commented about the obnoxious party and received an apology.
As for the food, my steak was cooked perfectly. Asparagus was a bit over cooked but still edible. We did not stay for coffee or dessert because we just wanted to get out of the situation.
To cap off the experience, the next day I received a "naughty patron" email from OT because they believed we did not attend our reservation. I responded and apparently they were able to confirm we did, in fact, go to dinner at the restaurant. At this point (early 2019), you would do better to call and reserve than to use the OT app until the routing issue is resolved.
Be forewarned, this is a conference center with a hotel attached to it. You never know who is holding an event here or the quality of the attendees. Your experience could very well be opposite of our own. What happened to us is quite unfortunate.
half empty and we waited 15 minutes to get seated...food was good, service just OK.
The food was excellent but overpriced. The service was very slow.
Service and main dish was amazing. Scallop appetizer...not so much. We will be back though!
The food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was courteous and patient, and the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.
The didn’t have their signature cheese service. We were really disappointed.
The steak was not very flavorful or tender for a Wagyu. It did not taste like a steak from a fine dining steak house. I felt cheated. The quality was less than my last visit I was disappointed.
We had 20 people in our party, the wait staff was more than accomadting for such a large group. They kept everything running smoothly.
While the restaurant manager said they were handicapped by workers not being able to arrive due to the weather, the service was just dreadful. A half hour wait for our table, a half hour wait for a partial round of drinks, no water refills, no 2nd round of drinks. The world famous cheese platter was unavailable due to having no one to slice the cheese. It was also very loud and quite cool in the dining room. Food was good but would have been a better meal if we had actual full service at our table.
Terrible service worst I have ever seen. Had customers in made reservation 715 got food at 915pm worst expierence I have had at a nice restaurant.
Took my boys here for dinner while staying at the Gaylord. Service was spot on but some of the dishes were bland and tasteless. Lobster Bisque and Squash soup were thin and lacked flavor. The seafood tower was pretty good and the cheese selection was nice. Our table side window provided great views.
I have been to Old Hickory several times a few years ago and the food was always stellar, service exceptional and the atmosphere elegant.
However this time - 2 years later - totally different experience. The soft jazz was replaced by loud pop radio playing Bieber almost so loud we couldn’t hear each other talking. The formerly gorgeous wood floor was scraped and scuffed and the room looked unkept.
The food was ok, but for $200 for dinner for two, there a hundred better restaurants - with better food and much better ambiance. Don’t spend the money here. Go elsewhere.
Our experience was perfect. We wish we could have thanked everyone individually. Our waiter, water guy, cheese girl, and chef were all wonderful. Keep it up.
Very beautiful restaurant and enjoyable dining experience. The Waiter made us feel welcome from the very beginning. We will certainly be dining there again.
Food is excellent! Service by the wait staff is always top notch.
This was the most hideous experience in my years of going to this establishment. The waitress was TERRIBLE, the food (steak) came out rare after asking for medium well. Big difference there if you call yourself a steakhouse. The side of potatoes crispy burnt. Ordered a bottle of wine. Waitress charged my by the glass until I said I ordered a bottle. Manager was non accommodating. Just terrible
Took my wife here for Valentine's day and she had an outstanding time. The food was great and the wait staff did an excellent job...thank you very much Old Hickory
We enjoyed our Valentine's Day dinner at Old Hickory. The service was excellent and the meal was superb. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Reisling wine. Thanks for providing roses to spouses and for bringing us the Kir Royal. I find that prices are high, but given the special occasion, I went with it.
