Crispy Truffle Parmesan Fries
skin on fried russet potatoes, parmesan cheese, fresh herbs, truffle oil, garlic aioli, house-made ketchup
A quiet spot for a special evening. Attentive service.
Food and service was great. We sat in the dining room and it was very dark.
Excellent food. Menu somewhat limited, but excellent.
A lovely summer patio. Very picturesque. Nice ambiance with tables scattered in nooks and around the stone walls accented by greenery. The lighting was moderate and the noise level perfect for conversation. The service was excellent, timed perfectly. We had steak frites. The steak was cooked as requested however a B grade of meat. The frites were hot, and delicious.
As I looked around, the patio , tables were nicely spaced and and there were all ages and smart casual dress to very sharp outfits.
I will return and highly recommend this restaurant.
Poor selection on menu. Food is not good and expensive. There should be a railing on the steps to the patio from indoors for safety.
Arrived for a 2:00 pm patio reservation to find the reception in disarray. We were seated at a table and waited 10 minutes to be greeted, another 10 minutes to have a waiter come by; another 10 minutes to receive our drinks and another 10 minutes for food. The menu attempts to span the gamut from pub food, falafel hut and fine dining and fails on all fronts. A beautiful venue spoiled by a lack of attention to quality and service. Won't be back anytime soon.
We have been long time customers of The Old Mill: we had our wedding reception here and actually live right next door!
We had the steak frites (fries with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese grated on top). The steak was perfectly cooked medium-rare and the serving of fried was so generous: both my husband and I really enjoyed our meal (we ordered the same thing).
For dessert, we had the 24 Hour Peanut Butter Bar and also loved that: I actually wanted to get a second serving!
The service was impeccable: water glasses promptly filled, plates cleared, and lovely manners.
We love The Old Mill and we can’t wait for the Sunday buffet to come back! We love being able to come for a beautiful dinner or brunch: it’s so beautiful, the decor, the atmosphere, the staff and of course, the food!
Food & service was mediocre. Servers should have better practices when it come to hygiene- glasses were put on the table with his hand over where we drink from instead of the stem of the glass. Finger was in food when handing dishes.
The tables and chairs were pretty wobbly because of the uneven patio stones.
The only redeeming factor is the setting. Has a beautiful garden and fountain. I would not recommend or go back there.
Wonderful patio setup, attentive and friendly staff. Food was delicious!
A big shout out to Muhammad, Zaike, Erin and Dining Room Manager Penny. We had a beautiful birthday dinner for our daughter, and the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. Will return forever.
Ate on Sept 5th.limited choices
Mediocre good poor service.
very nice ambiance.. very good service food was ok drinks very good
A wonderful summer evening at The Old Mill patio. Excellent and professional service - Peter was our server, he was there whenever we needed him, and yet allowed us our privacy. We will definitely go back and encourage everyone to go. The Old Mill is rejuvenated, a secluded haven in west Toronto, socially distant, safe.
Patio is a lovely area and service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We were not rushed at all (actually had to ask for the check). I was a little disappointed with the food. It was good but not of the calibre I usually associate with the Old Mill. It was the day of the air show so ambiance was a little overpowered at times by the jets overhead. But all part of a re-opening summer so no complaints.
Lovely patio, lots of shade, attentive service, food well-priced and comparative to other fine dining location. Just don't sit near the fountain - lovely to look at, but quite noisy. Overall, very nice experience.
Sadly, the burger was dry and tasteless - not what one expects from a $21 burger.
Used to be a landmark and staple of luxury in west Toronto.. Founding owners must be rolling in grave. This place needs a complete overhaul. Menu is like a small off-track betting bar and the quality of food doesn’t meet the basic requirements of the basic menu.
Very odd experience. Too bad as I grew up loving old mill.
Sell to an owner that puts pride into the heritage. Complete Reno and Hire new staff. Then I’ll come back
Amazing experience!! I laughed until my head hurt. Yami was our waitress she was awesome, please tip her if she’s your server, the dining room manager was very accommodating, it rained but we were moved indoors. It was my friend birthday and we continue the night with drinks. Great experience overall. Food was good, I enjoyed the cauliflower.
The Old Mill, Toronto 21 West Patio is a delightful oasis to enjoy a delicious lunch.
Service staff on two occasions mentioned they were tired and looking forward to going home. Didn’t make us feel very welcomed. Server wasn’t very responsive and we had to track her down. No mixed drinks on the menu, which is disappointing on a summer patio. Food wasn’t as tasty as we would have expected. Tempura cauliflower was soggy. Buttermilk chicken sandwich was flavourless. Fries were crispy and delicious however. Dinner for two was over $100 with a shared appetizer and two mains.
A lovely environment, fantastic service, great food.
The server was not attentive at all. My burger was good but I really don't recall from the past years that it had 2 patties. Very hard to eat and 2 patties is unnecessary. One large patty would be easier to eat. My friend ordered salmon and she said it was dry and under seasoned and no sauce whatsoever. I ordered sangria and I am quite sure there was no alcohol in it at all. We waited for more than 15 minutes to get a drink. My friend asked for a stir stick for her drink and never received one. She had to go to the bar herself and find one. It's too bad that the Old Mill Patio continues to disappoint.
The food was very poor , service very slow, the whole atmosphere wasn't nice , looks very poor and dull . Even when you want to book , minimum waiting 45 min. To 1 hour . And sometimes no success at all to reach anybody . Before we were looking forward to come to the old mill and happy to invite large groups of friends , sometimes over 80 people and were proud to bring them to such a place , now unfortunately it is not the same .
Horrible service . They brought us a cappuccino in a dirty cup and the service was horrible. Sadly because isn’t a beautiful place
Service was AWFUL. It was my parents wedding anniversary. Took 20 minutes to make a drink order. The drinks sat at the bar beside us for another 10 minutes.. It was so hot and we were so thirsty, we almost grabbed them ourselves. We had to ask for ice and a glass for our beverages.
He messed up our food order and blamed it on the chef. One meal didn't arrive until after we were all done. The pizza was SO soggy.
He rushed us out as well.
Won't be coming back which is really upsetting because my parents were married there.
Just wonderful. Like being in a lovely resort. I do wish people would pay attention to the dress code of smart casual.
Haven’t been in years .. 5 of us went to
Celebrate 60 birthday and retirement.
Excellent meal on a beautiful patio. I highly recommend the lobster sliders and the lemon gelato. I'll definitely go there again.
My open table dinner at the Old Mill was excellent . The food, ambience , service
were all just excellent . Cannot wait for my next visit . It was really very outstanding , good food, good location great service.
i had an amazing time at the old mill toronto with my family. the food was delicious but the service was slow. loved how peaceful and quiet it was. i will definitely be attending again!
Tasty food in decent portions but seems a touch expensive for typical bar fare. Can’t beat the ambiance but not sure why we were sat in bit of a dingy corner next to a lone other party when rest of the dining room was wide open.
The patio is a wonderful escape in the city. The fountain is very loud, but if you are not sitting too close, it shouldn't be an issue having a decent conversation. The food is good - not great, but enjoyable. Service is slower - but that is to be expected in these times and I didn't see it as a negative, it allowed us to relax. A bit of a rush with the bill, we were not left it to deal with or figure out, we were handed it, told the total and given the payment machine. Can't complain overall.
We were very excited to celebrate a special occasion at this well known spot. However, as soon as we got to the door, we knew it wasn't going to be quite as we expected. We waited nearly 10 minutes for a host to meet us as the front desk and take us to our table. Once seated we waited another 10 -15 for water and ended up with more than one server bringing some to us and giving us extra glasses of water instead of simply returning the unneeded glasses . It was apparent that the service was not to the standard one would think of at this type of establishment. Not that anyone was rude or off putting, just that there was no organization or semblance of order in who was taking care of our table. The severs were poorly trained and had only banquet hall experience where everyone just goes where there is a plate to remove. The food was delicious, the dessert was fantastic and the ambiance on the patio was lovely. It just had no service. None. Poorly trained staff and chaos reigned. We would go back for the location and food, but will wait to see when they have improved the training of their staff.
Food was not as it use to be ,Rice in a salad dish was totally undercooked and very hard. great location and ambiance ,Service was very good.
The Old Mill needs a facelift. It is much too dark entering and leading to the patio.
The steak was so tough that my friend couldn't eat it. Had to ask for a steak knife. It took forever for the dishes to be cleared from the table. The burger
wasn't any better than a fast food place and it was supposed to come with either fries or salad. We weren't asked which we would prefer. So overpriced for what was served. Coffee pretty good but not hot. Very disappointing last year and this year was no better. We will find another place to have our get together.
Great!! Nice place - looks like a traditional German house with a courtyard. Feels like you’re in Europe.
I was impressed with the relaxed outdoorsy atmosphere. The waiters were courteous and helpful. The food was exceptional. We are planning to try the Brunch soon.
Nice patio, good food and service. Dining table is too small for two people, not too comfortable.
Beautiful place! A hidden gem for sure. Will be eating there again
