The service is terrible for the price. Though the entertainment was top notch the service was aweful. The whole evening my freind who we were there to celebrate her birthday kept getting stepped on by wait staff walking by our table. It was terribly uncomfortable. Our waiter was 100 years old and was incredible slow. I had to send my food back because he failed to communicate if my meal was gluten free as requested. He also didn't know the difference between vegan and gluten free. After my freind complain to the manager she braught her a glass if champaign. I was taken back by the lack of acknowlegement as to who was paying for this rediculously expensive aweful experience. The manger was disrespectful and instead of offering apoligies for our terrible experience she told my freind it was my fault that we were seated there. I was given 2 aweful choices and took the best view of the stage as she gave me even though I had made reservations in advanced. On our way out she told me to come earlier next time. I reserved for 7pm and we didnt get our order taken until almost 8 pm. I had to ask our waiter if he was still serving our table as he never came by to check on us. That's $400 I'll never get back for a terrible experience.
Have been coming to the Old Mill for a few years now. The service was good and dinner was great. Unfortunately we came on a night when a new DJ was playing and it was horrible. You’d think that reading a crowd would be DJ 101, but alas we were treated to everything from Brenda Lee to Texano music and no two songs were of the same genre.
Too bad because it killed the party and a few of us went home early.
Great experience celebrating my mom's 67th birthday. We brought our 4 month old baby and the staff were very accommodating. We weren't able to bring in our large stroller due to limited space, but we were seated in a spacious area that allowed us to bring our car seat and place it safely on a high chair. Food and service were great!
Old MIll on entertainment nights in the main dining room is dependable. On those nights, however, the aren't as many items on the menu. Hard to understand why. Isn't an entertainment night with a crowd of a couple hundred just like the same dining room on a night without entertainment - and a menu with more variety? However, OM does a good job even if the menu can seem a little boring if you go a few times a year on entertainment evenings. The main dining room is a comfortable place, a step back in time to an era when dining out meant a special place. It stands out today when most restaurants seem to have been designed by the same consultants.
Great venue for a family lunch with a baby in tow! Food was excellent. Beer should be available on tap.... not only in bottles. We’ll go back.
The food was adequate- nothing special. The desserts need work- the pastry was thick and chewy and too thick
It was a shame as the dining room is a lovely venue
Great place to spend your Sunday brunch. Toronto tradition for many decades.
Ugh.. Horrible buffet. Food choices were budget, standard frozen food service fair with a few typical higher end buffet items thrown in haphazardly and poorly prepared.
Hot food was either very cold or so overcooked...ie eggs Benedict. Waffles ice cold, sausage/ bacon cold...
Used to be a great character spot, but now just old , musty and tired looking.
We went at 1:00 for brunch alit of the warming food was cold . There were eight of us one with dietary needs and no one seem interested! So she did not get much to eat. Also they ran out of scones and had two more hours of guests ! But when we were leaving the table behind us for tea came and they had scones!!!
Was very disappointed!!
Took my sister for Sunday Brunch for her birthday. We were both pleasantly surprised with the décor, the service, the food and the flow. It was all good. We had a great server who was attentive to our needs. The food was very tasty and what was even better, we did not have to wait to serve ourselves at the buffet. It flowed extremely well. I will certainly return next month to treat my daughter and her husband. Thank you ! Much gratitude.
Excellent service, professional, courteous and friendly. Not rushed so we could take our time and enjoy ourselves.
We enjoy the atmosphere and the fact that we can have a good time without being crowded by too many people. However we found that the DJ did not play great songs and there were times when almost everyone would leave the dance floor. We had the same experience last year. Good ambience, good food, good crowd, not good music.
Awesome place catering, parties, wedding, would recommend something simple even though it is bit pricy!
Food quality was not to write home for. Service was outstanding considering the crowd present. The price were somewhat in line with the food quality and the event, therefore more than acceptable. The DJ was very good trying to please everyone and actually has circulated requests for favourite music that were honoured throughout the evening. Looking forward for next year event.
Your Web page Menu had Veal on it but no Veal on my 81st B'day. Turkey seemed to be Brown not off the Bird White like Xmas. Did not like it at all> Chicken was a 6 out of 10 IMO.
The best part was the Soup. The Salad and the dessert.
Not the 1st time me and others were not Happy with Lunch Buffets.
Stick to Xmas As I have been coming Many years now.

The food and service was excellent and we would go back again. The only disappointment was the menu was not the same that was listed on Open Table and I was looking forward to the items on that menu
Fabulous! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent food and outstanding personal service. All made for an outstanding evening.
We really appreciated the staff being so tolerant of the children age 3 an 5. The food was amazing, however I did miss a real turkey being carved and homemade cranberry sauce.
I could hear the orchestra playing from old times as I picked up my food and marvelled at how times had changed.
My daughter so enjoyed being able to sit down to an amazing meal with her children even after trips back to the fondue.
Thanks to all the staff for an amazing experience.
Plan to see you next year.
Celebrated Thanksgiving as a family. Staff friendly and ambiance just right. Food was delicious with a wide variety to choose from and buffet plates constantly being restocked. Thank you.
I would not go back for holiday dinner. Huge line ups. Food was okay. Nothing special. Small dessert area. Even a 3rd star hotel in Cuba would be better than this buffet. They crammed in as many people they could. It did not have a fine dining experience... I know it was buffet style, however their brunches are much more classy. Skip this restaurant for its price and go to The Keg instead. Did I mention the line ups for food were super long. Standing there with your plate .... embarrassing really.
Disappointed in the food this year. The turkey was not off the "bird", but turkey roll and this was dry. There were no knives to cut the cheese.
The Thanksgiving buffet was excellent, there was a line, however that was expected. We were seated upstairs, where it was quiet and peaceful. The service was excellent, very attentive servers. Our family truly enjoyed the food, the ambience and the area - we went for a walk to the river and watched the fishermen catch huge fish! We’ll definitely come back again!
the place has declined big time, spent our time lining up rather than enjoying each others company, food not the best given the price
Very long wait to be seated, despite the fact that we had a reservation. Seating guests was very disorganized. Food at the buffet was mediocre.
Service was impeccable as usual . Amazing variety of food. Spent Thanksgiving brunch with family!!
Loved the Thanksgiving buffet and everything that came with it! Awesome service, beautiful venue and great food.
Excellent as always - my only issue was with the temperature of some items under heat lamps as they were not warm or hot like they should be. Service is exceptional and environment is delightful.
Reservations on line were easy. We arrived on time and were seated promptly..... in an area with far too many tables and a large post inhibiting access..... between two large groups of noisy diners. Not good and no place to move to. Drinks overpriced, and no white wine on the Thanksgiving drinks menu other than Chardonnay. The quality and quality of the buffet was very good though. Staff very attentive when they could reach us.
We would come back, but would choose another day of the holiday weekend to attend, and would not book a table online as there is no choice of tables offered .
We were much of the noise, sorry. Food and service was excellent, thank you very much
Second sitting was a disaster. 30 minutes late to be seated, fresh food brought out to the buffet after most people had started dessert, dessert was sparse. Won’t be back.
Too busy on Thanksgiving and we couldn’t be seated at main dining room.
Thanksgiving Buffet was OK, but not excellent for $55. each, the food service area was overcrowded most of the 1 1/2 hours we were there. I overheard complaints about the slow line up for the hot buffet area. Luigi was our server and he was great. The turkey dressing was like some sort of gooey, glue, gob.
Thanksgiving too many lined up to check in and lineups for food.
Never going back.
We live at Riverhouse Condo and wish it was a better experience.
I did not appreciate finding out when seated that we were in what was obviously an overflow area, zero ambiance, lengthy hike from the buffet. I would have preferred the ability to make alternate arrangements, since eating in a "church hall" atmosphere left us feeling, as one of my guests said, as though we had been relegated to the "children's table", not the Old Mill experience I expected.
Very disappointing overall. Seating was disorganized... we had to be rerouted twice, because one of our guests was in a wheelchair, of which prior notification was given. Food was subpar at best.. not at all what I was expecting for a lovely Thanksgiving feast. I’m so disappointed. The stuffing was rancid... which means the chef certainly didn’t taste the food before it was put out. I expected much better of the old mill restaurant. Only thing that was great was the mixed cocktail
Pros: Good food, although the desserts could be better. Friendly and good service; I rated it less so, as reception told part of my party to go ahead and they would remember to direct my husband, who was parking the car. He had to involve 3 different staff to finally find us in the Mill Room. I understand it was very busy-Thanksgiving. Very beautiful decor, atmospheric historic ambiance, except for where we were located-see Cons below.
Cons: We were taken to the Mill Room. It doesn't bear any resemblance to the rest of the restaurant. No decor, no colour, no beautiful vibe. For $50 per person, I think we can expect more.
CONCLUSION: I would return, but only if I were not put into the Mill Room again.
The food selection and quality for the Thanksgiving Brunch was poor, especially considering the price @ $55 per person. Vegetarian options poorly labeled and not set aside from meat gravy, etc. Patrons with mobility issues or devices (wheelchairs or walkers) should look elsewhere, many levels, bathrooms on second floor. My server was great, she got a big tip :-), but the staff circulating the crowd to replenish food seemed unhappy, rushed and often didn't bother to say excuse me.
This was my first time trying out a pricey-ish Holiday buffet, a la local hotels, but I won't be back.
We usually love the Old Mill but in fairness we just aren’t used to it being that busy! Not sure we would come back for Thanksgiving. The food was good but not as good as we have had before. The staff seemed on edge too as there was a fight that broke out behind us between the host and a waiter which was interesting. Our waiter was nice though. And of course you can’t beat the chocolate fountain!!!
I love the atmosphere and the old but classic look of the hotel. And the coffee they serve is amazing.
