Old Surrey Restaurant
The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.
The restaurant is family owned and operated since 1975. Since 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.
We have been going to the Old Surrey restaurant since the 70's.
It has always been a great place and great food.
We have been coming for years. Never disappoints. Quality traditional food. Prefer going here than a trip into Vancouver.
It was Amazing. Great food and great service.
We would defiantly go back.
We had our team dinner here and it was truly outstanding! The food, service, ambience! All excellent!
Very good place to have an date night. She will Thank You 😉🤪🤪
The wait staff was attentive, the food was excellent. The wine choices went well with our food. Atmosphere was cozy, with linen tableclothes and napkins, even as the restaurant filled up the noise level was low to moderate. The rooms are segmented so that there is not one big room, rather 5 or 6 smaller more intimate dining areas.
Excellent food and service for my birthday!
There ywas fifteen of us and we were all happy with the food and service, will certainly recommend to our friends, we’ll most certainly be going back.
It was our wedding anniversary , we were very happy to find ourselves in a old romantic restaurant. It was cozy and inviting, the service topped off with excellent food 💗 we will make sure to return soon to our new favourite restaurant in Surrey.
As usual our experience at The Old Surrey Restaurant was exceptional. We introduced this very authentic and special restaurant to 3 other couples that have never had the pleasure of enjoying this experience. We all had an absolutely wonderful time and enjoyed the extraordinary food, wine and ambiance.
I was so looking forward to going back to this restaurant
I was last there in the 80's & it was great then.
On this past Saturday night it did not disappoint, truly a great atmosphere & the food was really mouthwatering.
Service was spot on & very entertaining.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to any & all.
I can't wait to go back!
A great atmosphere for a quiet meal, fantastic food and friendly staff.
Enjoyed our experience at the OLD SURREY RESTAURANT. Will definitely be going back. Particularly enjoyed speaking to the original owner, from the Basque region of Spain, who founded the restaurant in 1975.
What a beautiful restaurant with great hospitality and service. I had dinner twice already and the seasonal menu is great and wine list is decent. Definitely we will come back again. Thank you.
Food was okay, but not great! Cute restaurant! They make a ceasar salad at your table- too much presentation for a mediocre salad
A unique dining experience! I have never been to a restaurant where you have several different servers. I love that this restaurant provides local fare. I wasn’t in love with the cheesy Qualicum scallops...why put cheese with scallops? The entree’s were delicious. Ultimately I was pleased with the experience and would visit again.
We booked a table for 6 for a small birthday celebration and had a great time while being spoiled with very attentive , experienced servers. They came to our table and sang, on tune, to our birthday guest and she enjoyed a complementary dessert. We all had a great time and would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone desiring an awesome dining experience, even the most critical patron.....
Excellent food. Great service. The staff are friendly, efficient and thoroughly professional. Will be back.
It was our first time here with our friends, and all of us were pleasantly surprised at the remarkable service and food. We’ve already planned to come again and would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality dining experience.
Only small negative was Caesar salad was a little overdressed, but the making of it at our table was a treat!
Excellent service from Micheal and other staff. Great food and ambiance for our anniversary celebrations
Wonderful ambiance: elegant, intimate, wood paneled, candles, fresh roses, soft lighting, quiet, generous space between tables, table linens
Excellent service: attentive, non-obtrusive, timely, warm, welcoming
Food: good, excellent steak in the pepper steak - sauce not as piquant as expected, creme caramel was soft, velvet texture, creme brulee excellent consistency, flavors were good - not outstanding
LOVE this restaurant! It is tried and true over the many years it has been open - they truly know what they are doing! Food is sourced primarily from the family farm in the Fraser Valley - always fresh and extremely well-prepared. The 'family touch' is very evident. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly without being over-bearing. They are also very conscientious about accommodating allergies. If you're looking for an intimate dining experience, ask for the library.
Pre dinner drink was like I bought in a legion. Supposed to get free after dinner coffee but was charged for them. They said we could get a free one when we return $25.00. Service was slow.
The food is delicious and the atmosphere and service is fabulous. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Wonderful seasonal menu, truly enjoyable dinner. Made for a great evening.
We were really looking forward to celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary at the old Surrey restaurant. We were greeted very nicely as we walked in , the waiter took our coats and seated us promptly in the corner of the first room to the left .We realized very shortly that we did not like our seating arrangement. We were not even seated 5 minutes and were asked by a waiter if he could get any drinks from the bar. After that, a different waiter came and explained the menu ...very hard to hear as there were another table getting the same speel as us. On top of the music and the table next to us talking. Made up our choices for ordering. We both had the scallops for appetizer..delicious. Our caesar salad prepared in front of us , the best I think I have ever had...but we had waiter staff in and out and standing at the cutouts in the wall..very annoying! Also the caesar salad trolley being moved from one end of the hall to the other. We realized we did not like the sitting arrangements. Our main course came and we were not dissapointed. My tenderloin was made to perfection! By this time, we were both coming down with headaches and we were not interested in anything else, except our bill. We were there for an hour and 20 minutes, felt like 3hours . With all the movement and talking in the room and hallway .,the music, very attentive staff,we really never got to talk or enjoy each other, so very disappointing.Which is too bad, because the food was amazing!
An absolute gem. What a great restaurant. Expensive but worth it!
Great value when their seasonal special menus are on. Always take advantage of them each season. Bang for the buck and service and food are impressive!
Phenomenal food and service! Locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection.
It was our 48th anniversary, and we were treated to an awesome Fall special dinner. Every bite was delicious and the service was exceptional. We dined there many times and have never been disappointed. You are our favourite dining experience. Thank you
excellent food, great service and will undoubtedly return for another great meal.
We had a lovely time. The French services was so nice to experience. We will be back.
Service and food was very good. The table was nice. Disappointed in the price of wine by the glass. Very expensive compared to the cost of a bottle in a retail store. My partner does not drink and so a bottle of wine just for me would have been way too much.
Great food! Portions are generous.
The best Caesar salad anywhere.
This beautiful restaurant is nestled in an unlikely part of town. Certainly doesn't seem to fit the area, however, once you're inside you're transformed into a different time and space. It's got great character and charm. The servers are very professional as well as traditional. They serve at-the-table-made Ceasar salad as well as flambe dessert. A wonderful romantic place as well as a place to bring the family for Christmas dinner. Would definitely come back.
Food was very good and nicely presented. The waiters for this upscale restaurant were nice but could use some training in table service. The wait time to receive a menu or to be served was much longer than it should have been.
they even did the 4 course meal as a vegetarian option for me without a problem! Which was amazing to me. Great service. Amazing food.
not the first time and will be back. service and food were great as always.
sorry but I think it is overpriced by about 25%
Excellent service from Kurt. Great table side Caeser salad. Will return for sure.
