The Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s best well- kept secret. Built in 1918, it was the residence of Lou Jack and his household until it was converted into a restaurant in 1974.

The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.

The restaurant is family owned and operated since 1975. Since 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.

    Been coming here since it opened in the 70's. Always excellent. The lamb is my favourite - sourced from their own farm and beautifully prepared. Dining rooms are comfortable and tables have sufficient room between them making the entire experience special.

    Everything was amazing. The food was perfect and it reminded of the food my husband used to eat in Rio de Janeiro. Everyone is very kind and respectful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    Once again, Old Surrey Restaurant met and exceeded our expectations. The service is impeccable. Food is delicious. Pricing is quite reasonable for what you get. We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary here and couldn't have asked for a better evening.

    Our evening meal was quite pleasant, the serving staff being attentive and polite. Unfortunately, there was a large party of diners eating in a private room and their meals were being served at about the same time our meals were to be delivered. Therefore, My rack of lamb, which was to have been prepared medium rare, came to the table well done, presumably having sat for 10 minutes under a warming lamp. We did not complain because it was not the fault of the kitchen or servers. It was just one of those unfortunate things which was slightly detracting.

    This is hands down the best restaurant in Surrey. The food is perfect and the service is the best. No bad table locations and so happy we did the Christmas Party here again. Their martini's are amazing.

    Food here is amazing, plating was lovely and not ‘over done’. The lamb was prepared beautifully, the duck was succulent, the seafood platter was delicious (I had to share) & the halibut special was outstanding. The little ‘potatoe croquettes’ were very delicious as well. The cocktails were delicious & unique. Cocktail service was a bit slow but service was really good overall. The espresso crème brûlée was fabulous. There are a few different rooms which makes it quite cozy. The one negative was the table by the window in the largest room had a vent blowing cold air on us (might be nice in summer).

    Amazing service and delicious food. We were there for a birthday and received an appetizer, compliments of the chef! Plus a free birthday dessert. The staff went above and beyond. Would definitely eat here again and recommend to anyone celebrating a special occasion.

    Gone is the top notch service . It felt like we were there but the staff didn’t care. Waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The Mussel’s were okay but they were a small serving with heavy cream sauce that failed to impress. The scallops appetizer were the best thing of the meal. Ordered the chicken and there was lots of meat . Tender but the mushroom sauce was lacking. The vegetables could have saved the plate , had there been more of them.

    Our first time at this beautiful establishment. Great food, every course was fantastic. The table side caesar salad was a nice treat, scallops were melt in your mouth and the steak main course was perfect. Overall the service was fantastic. One small thing , shortly after we arrived we asked to be moved to a table very close by that was not near the reception, the server said no even though our section was empty and pretty much stayed that way throughout our dinner. Thought that was odd, his supervisor offered to move us several minutes later but it felt a little awkward at that point. Being a little nit picky but that one thing did not fit with the rest of the friendly, gracious and outstanding service we received. 100% will be back, this will be our new special occasion spot - thank you!

    This is my favourite restaurant and we are so lucky that we live close by! We go for all special occasions and all their specials. I have been to great restaurants across Canada and the US, and this is my favourite!

    Food tasted excellent, even the veggies were well cooked. No issues there. Parking was hard to find due to the restaurant below. Service left quite a bit to be desired. Lacked basic service: took a while to get a menu after being seated. Wine glasses weren't taken away (table was small so we needed the room). Took a while to get attention from servers. They weren't rude though, just inattentive.

    Recently took our 90 year old mom there for her birthday. Food was outstanding, service attentive and well paced. We had a nice quiet room so that mom had no problem hearing all conversations. The only challenge were the stairs to the front door. I don't think the restaurant is wheelchair accessible.

    If you choose to pamper yourself at this exceptional restaurant, take advantage of the table service (“TS”) offerings, as they make an already wonderful dining experience even more enjoyable. The ambience of this restaurant—several small, cosy rooms, is also very comfortable.

    A GEM of a place. It’s a quaint heritage home turned sophisticated classy French restaurant. The servers are so good at their job. You can tell they go through extensive training to learn proper etiquette and love their profession. They were very attentive, making sure our drinks were filled and food came promptly. Food was amazing. The portions are enough to make you feel just good and not bloated. Im definitely going back for the crab dip, wow! we’ve never had such delicious smooth cheese cake in our life. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Quiet dimmed environment with candle and a rose to greet you at your table. Great for romantic dinner for 2 or groups of family and friends to hang out.Reservation is a must because they get booked up fast.

    We went for our anniversary and took our 8 year old granddaughter period it was a fabulous. The children's menu is unbelievable. They have 8 choices, and the prices are beyond compare. It would be a lot cheaper to take your children out there for dinner as long as they are well behaved. The experience is always amazing. Thank you again.
