Old Surrey Restaurant
The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.
The restaurant is family owned and operated since 1975. Since 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.
One of the best restaurants in Surrey. The food was excellent, very good service. The best dinner we have had in along time.
Our entire evening was like re-discovering a hidden jewel! The warmth of the staff, the relaxed ambiance, the music, the menu, the service, all classic! We all decided on the Spring offering and enjoyed every morsel. The skill of each of our servers, I think 5 in all, was totally professional, they were well informed, knew their menu well and took pleasure in demonstrating their skills with their fine tableside services. We do not hesitate to recommend the Old Surrey Restaurant to anyone who appreciates Classic food and Classic Service! We will return very soon, thank you.
Celebrated my son's birthday. We ordered 3 orders of the Spring Specials, 1 order of Chateaubriand for 2 people, and a Seafood platter for the 4 of us. The food was fantastic. Service was personable but not intrusive. Ambience was very good as background music was not overpowering loud.
The dessert was excellent.
We had tiramisu packed to go as there was too much food.
This was our second time at Old Surrey Restaurant - we came back because of the ambience, the great wine and menu choices and because the service is over the top without being intrusive.
The Old Surrey actually gets even better, if that is possible.
The service (Mike) is attentive, yet non intrusive, table-side made Caesar & cherries jubilee fabulous.
And Oh my that steak poivre is delicious.
Such great food and staff. An amazing experience. Loved watching them cook food and create drinks right in front of us. Cant wait to go back.
The filet was exquisite and generously sized. Table-side service was suitably attentive. We also appreciated the flexibility to allow substitutions to the prix fixe menu to accommodate allergies.
I true gem of a restaurant. We go for special occasions every year. Staff never seem to change which is nice.
I’m at this restaurant at least once per week. It is that good!
We went for my 60 birthday and I realized that I started going to this restaurant when I turned 35 …. I spend as many special occasions as I can there. Always a fabulous time when we do. 5 star doesn't even come close to how good this restaurant is. The personal touch from the owners is a plus for sure.
The Old Surrey Restaurant always provides a special dinner. The service was excellent with Michael providing all the extras including making the ice cream dessert. The owner's father made our mushroom salad at the table--really an art. A most enjoyable evening with wonderful food.
Excellent food, nice to see attention to detail. The table side service is something you don’t get anymore, nice to see again. We will definitely be back 👍
Big red special this month very good value for the money
We introduced our friends and neighbors to the Old Surrey Restaurant, to celebrate her birthday. They loved it and were so impressed with the staff, the ambiance and the food they will be back.
This was a first for them as they have never done much “fine dining”.... the staff presented her with a candle lit pate and a trio singing Happy Birthday, which brought her to tears. To say the least they made it a very special evening for our friends and us. We had the Red Special and the food was cooked to perfection. The lobster tails were moist and succulent the way they are supposed to be, the steak perfectly seasoned and cooked to our various wishes. Shrimp bisque, Caesar Salad table side, crab cakes and amuse bouche delicious. The Nitro I’ve cream is still o the lips of us all as not only was it amazing to watch but the taste—- unbelievable!
If you have never been—- Go, Go, Go!!!
We took part in one of their speacial meal deals "The Bir Red" Surf & Turf I was so delicious. Always have great food and excellent service. One of our favorite resteraunts for sure.
Server was present but not in your face. BEST steak ever in a restaurant ! Will come back again and again
Chefs scallops were amazing, chicken parmesan was cooked perfectly but a little too much tomato sauce, while rack of lamb was perfectly cooked, sauce was weak in flavour. Also, prawn appetizer lacked flavour—boring. Given our visit on a slow night, the service could have been more attentive. We left slightly disappointed.
Old Surrey Restaurant is our favourite restaurant for special occasions.
This time it was for my husband's birthday and we had our eight year old grandson with us.
It was the first time he had ever been there, and we let him know good manners would be expected.
Since he couldn't stop saying "Awesome" right from walking in the door, there was no doubt that he loved the experience.
All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and it seemed as if they enjoyed having a younger person there.
We adults had the Big Red special and a bottle of the Kettle Valley Merlot that is the house's signature wine. It was a perfect choice; the fresh warm bread and amuse bouche set the tone for the meal right from the start
The steak was perfect and the lobster was so tender I could hardly believe it. The preparation of the Caesar salad and then the Nitro ice cream at the table side was wonderful, and everything tasted incredible. (Our grandson loved his pizza made specially for him.)
My husband said it was the best birthday dinner ever.
Thank you, Old Surrey Restaurant, for making it great!
My husband and I went out for a rare dinner without the kids to enjoy out 5th wedding anniversary and 20+ years together.
The service was attentive and informative. Food fantastic.
Highly recommend if your looking for a beautiful dinner.
Spectacular Anniversary special!!! Excellent food. Service was also excellent. There was an unfortunate disturbance from another table near us and the staff handled the unpleasant customers as quietly and diplomatically as they could.
Our meal was prepared to perfection! We had the steak and lobster special which was so delicious. Our waiter was attentive and filled our every need with out being obtrusive. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves! It certainly was a treat..definitely a 5star
Always great service and great food! We tell everyone we know to go to the Old Surrey Restaurant.
The restaurant itself represents an attitude of fine dining, sometimes the ambiance would outweigh the the food.
We went there for my wife's birthday as she always wanted to go to this restaurant and we had heard great things. The appies had no flavour and for 18$ and 17$ we had 6 shrimp on a plate with a diced tomato and not much else. The bread was great and the little amuse bouche was good. The main courses were ok, I had ordered a pepper steak but it was not encrusted with pepper corns or even have pepper flavour. The meat was done perfectly but the sauce had no taste. It was the same for all of us. The cuison was perfect for everything but we probably should have gone to the Keg or WAG in White Rock as it would have been cheaper and we would have had great atmosphere. Lastly, I had a refill of my ginger-ale and was charged for a second pop. This is not common as I am the DD for the family and usually there is only a charge for one pop. I can understand if I had 6 pops but a can of pop is very cheap so almost 4 dollars for a pop is not correct.
We found that the atmosphere was stale, there was no ambient music and the decor was quite old. On another note, the service was great, the place was very clean. Sorry but we will not be recommending this restaurant to our friends.
Wonderful ‘old school’ elegant dining. Menu was great, food was amazing. We ordered the steak and lobster special and found it to be beautifully prepared(loved the tableside preparations of the Caesar salad and the ice cream). Steaks were perfectly cooked and portions were generous. Excellent value. Service was very friendly and attentive, staff seemed to be happy and proud of the food they were serving. Would definitely return.
This is one of our favorite places to go. The quality of the food is outstanding, every course was done right. The service is impeccable, you get a fine dining experience. It's a great place to go where you can enjoy the company you are with because you don't have to yell over the other diners. Highly recommended.
We have been going to Old Surrey Restaurant for years. We started going for special occasions only but we now go at least once a month. The food is always excellent. The service is top notch. It's nice to see so many young people now enjoying this lovely restaurant.
This restaurant never disappoints. Big Red meal is a great value. Highly recommend.
We have been going to the Old Surrey Restaurant for over 40 years and have never been disappointed. It’s our “go to” place for celebrations or when we want to spoil ourselves.
We quite enjoyed our meal at the Old Surrey Restaurant. I was served one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The waiter was professional and well skilled.
Lovely setting in old house. Service was excellent, food even better.
I have been coming here for many years. Quality and service are excellent every time. It’s a superb old style restaurant experience.
Perfection! The meal was perfection, the service the same! It was my first visit here, but by far won't be my last!! The food was so good I wanted to cry!! AMAZING!
Dining at the Old Surrey Restaurant was a special event. The prices reflect the outstanding food, ambiance and service you will receive. Linger and enjoy it!
This is one of the most amazing restaurant s I have had the pleasure of dining at.
Food was good. Had the seafood platter, it was a little on the cold side but otherwise very good.
My girlfriend and I had a delightful time. We found the setting to be at once both elegant and cosy, and the staff were likewise both formal and friendly. The food as well was top quality, and the nitro Ice cream was a real show at the end.
We sat down at 730pm at our table. Nobody approached us to take our order, by 8pm we had to call a waiter over to order. Our food arrived 1 hr later at 9pm.
Food was good. But not worth waiting that long.
Not inexpensive but is great value. Excellent quality ingredients very well prepared.
One small small service delay (most of the tables in that small room needed a little attention - perhaps all the staff that cover were tied up in another of the several rooms in this "house") otherwise was prompt and proper. Many of the staff have been there many years and all are professional.
Many items still finished table-side; "theatre" throughout the restaurant with lots of flames, even specialty after-dinner coffees are still prepared old school table-side and billows of 'smoke' from the table-side nitrogen ice cream preparation.
A great venue especially for a romantic evening or special occasion. Come all together in one car as parking is tight and no nearby street parking.
A hidden gem! We had the steak and lamb chops- the food was excellent.
