Great vibe. Fantastic patio
We had a reservation on the patio for 7:30 but were told to go to the bar inside to wait for a few minutes, as the table wasn’t ready . The maître d seemed quite inattentive and very uninterested in our party, after 15 minutes we felt forgotten and decided to better check back with her. She informed me to go back inside and the table would be ready in a few minutes. No apologies or friendly words were offered when she showed us to the table soon after. Table service and food were very good, but the beginning of the experience was rather unpleasant and unexpected for such a nice restaurant.
The meal was delicious and the service was friendly and impeccable.
Awesome patio lunch. Best place in the summer in Yorkville!
We went for Summerlicious -- and delicious it was! My partner and I chose three different items -- that makes 6 in all -- and each one was a total hit. For me, the smoked salmon on a potato latke with crème fraiche and frisee was a beautifully presented, perfectly balanced combo. The beef was more than tender. The fruit cup with home-made strawberry sherbet was an elegant and tasteful dessert, a cut well above the standard fruit cup offering. I've enjoyed many Summerlicious meals at different restaurants -- and this was the best of all. Just a couple of quibbles -- we had trouble being seated at an acceptable table despite the fact that we'd made reservations and there were several better tables open. I suspect that had to do with the fact that I'd noted on my reservation that we were there for Summerlicious and the staff wanted to save premium tables for diners more likely to be big spenders. Clearly diners have to know about and ASK for this feature -- the staff were only able to rustle up one Summerlicious menu for us when two would have been more appropriate. That said, the food was delicious enough and so carefully prepared that we're tempted to return to ONE for the regular menu -- viciously expensive though it may be.
We really loved the service and the ambience, however the summerlicious menu had extremely small portions! We had to go somewhere else to eat after ... not impressed. It was our first time at the restaurant and I was underwhelmed.
A very pleasant outdoor patio screened from the street with low noise level, good service and good food. The best such scenario we have found in Yorkville. Good backup inside if it rains but good umbrellas too
Drs Peter and Judy Watt Watson
just wanted to mention that we had an excellent waitress. she was very attentive and helpful. That made the dinner for us.
I was very disappointed. I am a regular customer at the McKewan store at Yonge and Bloor, and was eager to sample a restaurant meal from the same group. I tried the summerlicious menu. All I can say is that the food was "fine". I got the feeling the restaurant was just going through the motions to participate in summerlicious. The service was friendly but perfunctory. The ambiance is excellent- we sat outside, the weather was wonderful, there was lots of space and it was very relaxing.
The ingredients were of good quality, but the servings were on the small side. The plating was well done, but the food was not particularly tasty or flavourful. The sauces did nothing to enhance the dishes that I had- the smoked salmon would have better plain. The Black Forest cake for dessert was "fine"- nothing outstanding, but not bad. The tandoori chicken was bland, if you can believe it, but pretty.
So- I was hoping to use summerlicious as a trial to see if I should come back. I won't- the food at the takeout at the store is much better. I may go back for a drink on the patio though.
They forgot about our reservation and we kept waiting for them to call us and direct us to the patio. I finally approached the hostess and she said that the reservation was cancelled. However, she managed to get us a table to experience another underwhelming service. First and last time.
Great food and service
Summerlicious- first time at restaurant. Will definitely go back!
great patio. food not great. great ambiance. need to improve the food.
Very good service, very cozy place and the food was awesome especially our appetizer, oysters.
Summerlicious menu portions VERY SMALL
Crispy cauliflower and tandoori chicken were both excellent, and our waiter Chris was very accommodating and helpful, with wine recommendation and changing my dessert order for me after I changed my mind.
Enjoyed the atmosphere , service was good, food was generic , The wait staff outfits were not clean , stained with food
It was very lovely to sit outside. I took my friend for her birthday lunch, she was very happy.
I did find it a bit pricey. We had two appetizers.two coffees and a plate of cookie for 90 plus dollars plus 18%.
I will go back as I like the setting but i will be more prepared for the bottom line.
The appetizer (cauliflower) was sickening sweet. The entrée (falafel) was lack lustre, and the dessert (lemon tart) was vey plain and tasteless. Definitely NOT worth the price. Will not be returning. Too many other good restaurants.
Great ambience...food not as good for the type of restaurant...seating on the patio is the main attraction
Lovely patio and great service. The food is just ok, could certainly be improved. Nice wine selection.
I was here a couple of years back with Belly amd his family and the food was incredible. I brought my boyfriend here and have been talking about this restaurant for some time and was very disappointed. We had a reservation for 9:15 and didn’t get our table until 10pm. The food was aweful, it had no flavour or seasoning and was very much lacking salt or any flavour for that matter. not too sure if there is a new cook but if there is you need to find a new one or get the old one back. For a restaurant owned by Mark I think he would be horrified at the food that was being served. I absolutely would not recommend One to anyone I had to call my friend and her brother to make sure when they go back to Toronto never to go there again. I was very disappointed as the first time the food was impeccable and top notch.
I ordered the halibut and at $60 it was a tiny piece of fish! While it was delicious it was not worth the money.
Bad service for that price range range restaurant
Had to wait 20 min for the table
It has been a long time since I have been to One. Food has definitely gone downhill from the last time i was there. I would recommend it for drinks but not for the food - not worth the money at all.
Visited Toronto for a concert. Went to ONE for lunch outside and also Jazz Festival. Everything was Great!!
I had a friend visiting from SC. Her first time in Toronto. It was great to sit out in the patio and watch Yorkville while eating a fantastic meal. Service was great, as always.
Excellent food, and great ambiance. Spicy Margaritas.
Went here for my 1 year anniversary with my wife. Mostly empty inside but lively on patio. We elected to stay indoors due to noise. I ordered the beef short rib and my wife ordered the fish. Her fish was well done and very tasty. My beef short rib was a bit on the dry side. We also ordered the yellowfin tuna appetizer which was not worth it, you get very little tuna and it’s mostly the deep fried rice ball. I had also ordered a side of king oyster mushroom to share with my wife. Mushroom was not good at all, they tossed it with lemon juice which doesn’t go with this mushroom at all. Service wise was a tad slow for anyone to get our drinks. Quite pricey for the quality of food. Overall wasn’t bad but left underwhelmed.
Staff were attentive but never intrusive, polite and never made you feel rushed. Overall I loved the hotel, restaurant and the location. What really made the difference was the staff and their service.
We had a waitress that was new and poorly trained; she was inattentive and did not serve us water or wine when necessary, and was rarely present. As well, our main courses came cold and had to be sent back. She had an unpleasant attitude when we said something, and when one of the guests complained to the manager; she handled it poorly - she said that she was a nice girl and to have a little compassion. All in all, it was an awful experience, and we are all seasoned diners. Someone should have stepped in to assist, and to handle it in a much more appropriate manner. When you are paying top dollar, you should be able to expect first class service as well as food.
Have the lobster spoons they are the best.
The new spring menu is wonderful. The sangria was beautiful. Service, as always, was attentive, but not intrusive. And the sun was shining on the patio!
Convenient location, good service, lovely room. I had asked for a quiet table and it wasn't very quiet so hard for a meeting...i was going to ask for a change but the music was fairly loud everywhere. I thought the coffee was just OK, not great.
Letting them know ahead of time it was out anniversary
They could not of selected a worse table for us.
Very high traffic area. They did move us so all good but poor attention to detail
Booked patio, received a call in the morning to confirm reservation and patio. When arrived and said we had a reservation for patio were given the bar instead and told that even no room inside. Also received an email from Open Table saying missed reservation. Food is always good though
The quality of this restaurant has really gone down. My girlfriend and I who had lunch in the patio two days ago were really unhappy about our service. Our server was slow, unable to respond to crisis and issues and showed little care about our concerns. It took him 10 minutes after we’ve sat down to give us water and ask for drink orders. It took another 15 minutes for him to take our food order. My girlfriend’s pasta dish was only lukewarm and when we complained twice, the second time to a manager, they finally agreed to take it back and recook a new dish. Another server close to us was coughing constantly without covering her mouth. The management of this restaurant seems to have changed since our last experience there a year ago. I would definitely not go back again this summer!
We sat on the patio. Service was friendly but it you shouldn't have to ask twice to see the server for more wine once your food is served. By the time it was ordered and arrived, the entrees were pretty much done. Also, I had asked for a New Zealand sauvignon blanc and was told there was none and the closest thing to it was a Sancerre. I had 2, at $30 a glass. At the end of the night, a new server offered me the much more inexpensive New Zealand sauv that was available. Finally, the ladies washroom was disgusting. ONE is considered a high end restaurant in a high end hotel so I would have expected it to be maintained. But the food was excellent and so, I would recommend ONE to a friend.
