Best whiskey / bourbon cocktails. Always outstanding for lunch / dinner service.
We’ve been many times, always reliable pre theatre/show place but this time, arrival of beverages was slow and food was very slow arriving yet not that busy
We went for Valentines Day and it was fabulous. I was worried about the comments others had made about being in the lobby of a hotel but this was not an issue at all. The staff were amazing and explained anything we needed to know. The food was delicious and I was very impressed with the seasoning of the food. My one complaint and the reason I only gave four stars for ambience was that they squashed their two person tables too near each other. Considering it was a romantic evening I felt I was imposing on the other tables each side of me and them on us. If they had even taken one of the two seater tables out and spread us a little further apart it would have been fine. Altogether, a wonderful meal and I would certainly go back. Highly recommended.
We visited ONE18 empire on Valentine’s Day and our service was not the best. My main dish came out with our appetizers, My boyfriend didn’t receive his main dish until I was half way done my meal & some items that we asked for never made it to the table. Again, it was a holiday so we took it with a grain of salt. We may try it again in the future but it’s not on my “must recommend to a friend” list!
I’m not sure I would recommend. It was our first experience here and it wasn’t the greatest. The food arrived very late so we’re not sure if the server screwed up not putting our order in or if the screw up was in the kitchen. I suspect it as the server. We had to eat very rushed to make it to the theatre in time. The food arrived and two dishes were grossly undercooked and one of the chicken options was overly salty. No break on the bill. Ambience was great though and the place was quite busy so it must be an okay place for the most part.
If you love bourbon, this restaurant is the experience. The wine selection is weak but overall acceptable. Food is fantastic with good sized portions.
Our table was near a group of 6 guys who were a bit noisy. It would of been nice to have a quieter table as it was hard to hear at times.
Arrived at our reserved time and got seated beside a very noisy table. Had been here several times in the past but was surprised with the costs for the food. Definitely a whiskey bar first, restaurant second. Had great service so that was positive. Got home to find an email from OpenTable saying that the restaurant reported that we were a no show. Very confused why this happened as we had spent a good deal of money for these small portions. There are a lot of choices for food downtown and I think next time we will exercise that option.
Pre-theatre dining. Perfect location. Just a short walk to Arts Common.
Disappointing Sunday brunch menu for someone not staying in the hotel. Many items suitable for business traveller on the run (smoothies). All the usual breakfast sides (egg, bacon, sausage, fruit salad, etc.). Pricey ho-hum burgers. The roasted winter root salad was tasty. The liquor menu is substantially larger than the brunch menu.
Our server was fantastic, the food was amazing. We have never had a bad experience here.
I took my mother here for lunch on a Friday at noon. They have $20 lunch specials and both of ours were excellent. Nice decor inside.
We came in for a nightcap and Rita’s service was top notch. I will be going back for the best Old Fashioned in town and for the stellar service. 💯
Had dinner with some friends and really enjoyed our experience. Highly recommend the old fashioned and the steak.
Food was good, pricing for what you get a bit out of proportion but overall good. Staff was sgreat
You go here for the amazing drinks- the old fashioned selections then preparation at your table is highly recommended! Food is average, but you don’t go here for the food (my opinion). We’ve been there now for two big group events and they killed it both times.
Will definitely Be going again.
The drinks were good, food was nice. Service was rude, and I wouldn’t go out of my way to return. I recommended the location for a bday party with some guests from out of town and we were underwhelmed with the service.
Unique lounge for drinks could use more polished service
Our table was ready when we arrived. Best drink i ever had in my life! Delicious fries too. Service was not amazing but it was very busy. Otherwise it was an excellent after theatre spot for our large group of varied ages.
The server was good. I enjoyed my food but my friend was very displeased, no where on the menu (also wasn’t told by the server) did it say that the charcuterie board was different everyday, she was very excited getting it because the last time she was there it was amazing, this time she didn’t eat it as the meat and cheeses weren’t appetizing. It was a waste of $25, even when she told the server that she didn’t like it there wasn’t another option offered.
Great night with great food. Would come again another day.
Amazing restaurant and atmosphere, will definitely be back and recommend to a friend
Food was ok, but not extraordinary. I found it a bit awkward that the restaurant is in the lobby of a hotel. I’m not into whiskey, so didn’t take advantage of what this restaurant is known for. I would not recommend to a friend, so many other great restaurants out there.
Great drinks, good food. Sat in a two topper which was a little to close to the nearby tables. Hard not to hear the nearby conversations...
We've been to this restaurant in the past and had better experiences. This time, service was slow getting started, and we had to wait too long for our first drink. The waitress was quite friendly, but perhaps could have been a bit more attentive. We found the menu to be somewhat limited. One of our drinks had to be sent back because it was mixed improperly. Then, we found that the potato dish was far too spicy (inedible) and were told that the chef made a mistake and used cayenne instead of paprika. The host did apologize and gave us a free dessert, but by then the overall meal was ruined.
It was great!!! Superb food and value
We had an excellent dining experience. The server was very friendly & attentive & the food was delicious!
Never received the bread we paid 4
Slow service for lunch
Pre theatre lunch and as a regular go to place we had usual well prepared offerings except that due to a current romaine ecoli scare the Cesar salad was not on offer and some kale item was suggested so we opted for the winter root vegetable roast and it was excellent
Right across from Vertigo theater, great for before a mystery play. Food was delicious, and the setting was more romantic than expected.
Great server, went out of her way to make sure we where comfortable. Drinks top notch cocktails.
great cocktails and good food . Good happy hour drink specials -otherwise the drinks are quite expensive
Great experience as always. Kalli was once again excellent as a server. Ask for her for great service!
Unbelievable cocktails and food, best old fashioned in town. Will be back!
We were very impressed with ONE18 Empire! The food was perfectly cooked. Every item on our plates, from the bacon-wrapped dates to the 16ox Rib Eye was delicious and full of flavour.
Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu AND the drinks. She introduced us to Old Fashioneds and we had a great time.
The restaurant was very busy, but I never felt I couldn't hear my wife from across the table, as in the case in some of the other popular places.
We will definitely be back!
The food was great and the staff was friendly. It was an amazing experience and they made celebrating my friend's birthday dinner a wonderful time!
Great place with the option to either have a quiet dinner in the dining room or catch a game at the bar. Cocktails are on point. Kalli and Rita were great servers!
I ordered the winter roast root vegetable salad with chicken. It was the most unappetizing meal. All white vegetables, no colour and no taste. A red beet would have helped with colour. There was supposed to be a vinagrette dressing, but could taste no vinegar at all. I asked the waitress for more vinagrette and what she brought tasted of oil only. My friend had the ribeye and enjoyed the meal. We had dessert and both enjoyed.
We (2) ordered different salads which were OK but not great compared to their price. The bottle of wine we shared was good but expensive. We each had a whiskey cocktail, nicely presented, but $15 each (2oz.) .
