Osteria 177 is the ultimate expression of an Italian tavern where the main attraction is imported delicacies of one-of-a-kind food and wine. Adorned by barreled wine, an Osteria would never lack the sought out local specialties, spices, cheeses, fish or meats. It was here that many people tried to alleviate life's stresses by numbering themselves with good food, good wine, and good company. The owner/chef of the Osteria would take the utmost pride in stocking these praised elements as the basis for mouthwatering meals, a delicious dance-for-all of the five senses. This is the basis for Osteria 177.

The food was excellent and atmosphere was perfect for a dinner date night out. We enjoyed every bite. The service was okay. Our waiter forgot to bring the pasta we ordered with the chicken dish but we had more than enough to eat anyway and what came on both of our dishes was delicious. The Wine was really good and paired well with the filet.
For desert we ordered Creme Brule to share and a cup of the Spanish coffee. The desert came but no coffee. We waited patiently while our waiter was serving up the dish at a nearby table. We asked one of the female staff that would refill the water glasses but she stated we had to wait on our waiter for the coffee? When he was finished with the nearby table I made mention the coffee had not yet arrived. Again, he said it would be just a minute. We finished desert and the Spanish coffee finally came a few minutes after. The coffe was good, but the timing was not right as we were more than ready to leave at that point. With the amount of staff and as empty the restaurant was, I would have thought we would have been better taken care of from a higher end restaurant. Again, amazing food. The wait staff owes the chef some of their 20% tip because the food made up for their lack of attentiveness and attention to detail.
Because the food was so good I would repeat hoping I had a different experience with the waiter.
My wife liked the branzino, but my veal was awful. sent it back, second time no better. Yuk.
Great meal. Had friends in from Houston and they were extremely impressed with the quality of the food
Although we found the food very good, the noisy ambiance, poor (slow) service, overpriced wine selection, and overall experience rather disappointing. A fine dining experience was lacking with service that was too casual. Our servers had trouble communicating with each other and with our party. The television at the bar with the baseball game was particularly distracting in a restaurant that should be upscale (at least judging by their prices). Overall, we were disappointed with our celebration.
Osteria is consistently amazing, has been since we started coming to our weekend home in Annapolis in 2009. Easily the best sauces for Mediterranean cuisine in the Baltimore-DC area. Amazing and diverse array of pasta dishes, fresh whole fish and options for those who enjoy a good filet. Always a professional and warm staff and an atmosphere that can range from elegant to warm and inviting. While not necessarily geared toward children, they treat our 3 y/o daughter like the longstanding patron she is and the whole waitstaff has been briefed on her favorite dish and how she likes it served. The chef knows we are in the house when her order comes in! Bartender is a real mixologist—as much as we enjoy the wine menu, we crave his creations just as much. Osteria 177 is our go-to spot every weekend if we can manage to plan ahead and will dine at 5pm if it enables us to sneak in. Only hiccup I have ever experienced is rare slowness with a very, very large party, but this is rare and the dining experience and cordiality of the staff more than offsets such rare occurrences. Osteria 177 truly is an essential dining experience if you’re in Annapolis.
Food was very good. Ben, our waiter was professional and pleasant. Dining room could use a face lift to brighten it up. Also was very warm. Probably 15-20 customers and our guess-roome temp was about 78-79 degrees. Really a 3 and 1/2 star for ambience.
We were checking the place out for a group dinner in September. The on duty manager had little interest in accommodating us. Said they were busy without even checking dates. Too bad for them....may be ok for us.
Food and service very good. 4 stars.
The best Italian food in the state
In fact one of the best restaurants in all types of food
Food was very good. Seafood lasagna and Branzino with crab, delicious. Service was good but waiter kept hovering around table.
Probably the finest restaurant in the mid Atlantic area.
We went to Osteria 177 for our anniversary. The service was pleasant and prompt, and unobtrusive. We enjoyed cocktails, an appetizer, and well prepared steak and veal. The tiramisu for dessert was out of this world !
Consistently high quality food and service. Atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. Would definitely recommend.
can be noisy if you sit near a large group. Otherwise, a great place with gourmet food.
Wonderful meal and service. Fresh ingredients and specials. Extensive wine list.
Perfect for a special occasion dining experience. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Osteria and had exemplary food and service.
I'll make this short and simple. The only complaint that we had about our meal, would be that it was so good, and the service was so perfect...that it can only get worse from there.
Seriously- this may have been the single best meal we have ever had.
We arent foodies, but we have eaten at a lot of really fantastic places all over the US and EU. And really, Osteria 177 on this particular day, was better than anything Ive had, anywhere.
The service was especially good, so thank you to the host, bussers, waiter, etc. You guys were awesome.
As I said, I have no idea how it could have been better.
Oh- we had the Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, and Fettuccine di Pasta ai Porcini.
Staff friendly. Clean...but more people dinning in shorts and jeans than a nice formal dinner. Food fresh but bland and average.
This is our favorite Annapolis restaurant. Consistent quality food and service. Classic Italian and always great specials. The beef short rib raviolis were excellent. Would highly recommend.
Food was spectacular start to finish
Great food and service. Tables were spaced nicely to give enough privacy. Wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
Food was fantastic
Very nice experience. Food, cocktails, and service were excellent and what I was expecting. Dinner portions where moderate to small, compared to other restaurant I’ve been to in the past of the same caliber. I arrived very early (5:30), so I received lots of attention by the wait staff. I was warned ahead of time, by my hotel, that service is very slow, but since I was there just as they opened the doors, I didn’t have any issues with prompt service. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I plan to return. Overall great dinning experience.
The food was good and overall a good restaurant. If I could give a 3 1/2 stars I would. The menu was limited and in general overpriced compared to similar/better meals at similar restaurants, but the food was inarguably delicious by all accounts from my party. The one complaint was that the side dishes were very small. I ordered the one salmon dish - only one salmon selection? - and while the fish was a typical sized portion, it came with about a 1/3 cup of mash potatoes. This is fine for me, since I'm on a diet, but my husband was not too pleased with his $40 steak meal that came with three slices of potatoes. They couldn't spare a whole potato? My other issue was with the mystery vegetable that came with the salmon. It was good. It had long, thick stems and dark green leaves. The waiter told me it was broccolini. I have broccolini all the time. This was not broccolini. There were no buds! The stems were so thick and the leaves so long. I have no idea what it was, but the waiter insisted it was broccolini. I believe I should be able to identify my food when I go out to eat. No? I became very dehydrated later in the evening, so maybe a cut back on the sodium is in order as well. The recommended wine was good.
Not our first visit and certainly not our last. My husband said his Branzino was cooked to perfection-in fact, he said it was the best prepared fish he had ever eaten. My beef tenderloin was excellent. The Hazelnut Chocolate cake--so delicious! Service was excellent as always. One of our favorite "special occasion" restaurants!
My wife, son and I had a great evening. Dianna did a fantastic job describing specials and providing great service. The food, service and setting were perfect.
The food was not much to write about. Only second time at restaurant, but compared to the first time, the food was very disappointing considering the price point is high. Probably would not make the effort to go back.
First time in 18 years we found an Italian food restaurant hat tastes just like being in Italy. The real deal. Delicious!
I had the veal chop. VERY GOOD!! My husband ordered swordfish and apparently he and the server did not communicate on which swordfish meal he wanted, and Bob didn’t get the preparation he had wanted. They offered to redo it but then I would have been eating alone while,he awaited his. So he kept the one presented. Other than that all was good. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service.
The best restaurant in the area and maybe the whole state. Fantastic Italian cuisine.
Osteria is incredible. For fine Italian dining you can’t beat it!
Service was good - food was ok. Don't feel as though this establishment should be advertised as "up scale". As the bar area is not well sectioned off from the main area - any noises made there carry into the main room (and they did).
Perhaps different nights don't have a full bar and perhaps different menu items are slightly better - but I won't be finding out.
My husband and I decided to try Osteria 177 because I had always wanted to go. We were seated immediately and the waitress was extremely prompt and was very attentive. The food was great. We will definitely be back again.
We have been wanting to eat here for a long time and when our wedding anniversary came up, we thought it was the perfect place. Food was amazing. Server's recommendations were on point. Service was impeccable.
The food was wonderful and the staff was helpful as well as providing a relaxing environment to enjoy time with family.
Family from out of town
Service was pathetically slow on Father's Day with one waiter handling most tables and entrees taking well over an hour to come out to the table. I had to ask for dessert menus three times which took another 20 minutes and then there was a long wait for the check. Don't go here unless you want to wait and wait and wait. Pricing is also outrageous.
We were celebrating Father’s Day. It was great.
Special table for our anniversary was nice. Had to wait 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar and 20 minutes for our table. But we were not able n a hurry so no big problem.
