There was plastic tag in Gnudi after a 30min wait. The best they could offer was bringing a new plate. I didn’t make a big deal but was a bit shocked.
Freaking amazing, I would go there any time I'm visiting Vancouver.
Very noisy environment, but our reservation was at 5:15 (only time available) so there were lots of children in the restaurant.
When I sampled 2 different white wines for dinner, the waitress took away the rest of the samples after I decided which wine to have. I've actually never had that happen before. (The samples are left to finish versus being taken away)
We were told the meals were family style (to be shared) which is great. When I asked the server for dinner plates instead of just side plates, it seemed like it was an unusual request. The server rather rudely asked me to move my garlic bread from the side plate in order to fit all the dishes on the very small table.
We had to send back our side order of green beans, as they were cold. The waitress actually went to ask the chef if they were supposed to be served cold. One of the pasta dishes (rigatoni with a meatball) we ordered wasn't very warm either, but the plate it was served on was super hot so we didn't send it back.
While the 2 pasta dishes and garlic bread we had were all very good, I'm not sure the overall experience would have us returning there again.
As always, an excellent dining experience. The food, service and drinks are excellent
Best Italian restaurant I've been to. Three women. Ordered some "crispy" appie that was a little like a flatbread (covered with some cheese & fish roe) but cracker-thin. Heaven! Kale salad and ribbons of marinated zucchini with a deep-fried zucchini flower that was lighter than a thin potato chip. We were actually full after this but managed to finished off something that was like very light ricotta "gnocchi" and a rigatoni with a meatball and braised beef. We had to cancel the roasted chicken and broccolini. Next time
If you are a pasta fan, this is the place to be. The sey-aged New york steak was good but it lacked the tenderness that a dry aged steak should have. I would give that a miss but go for the suckling pig instead.
Food was fantastic as always... outstanding italian cuisine... however... the restaurant was also packed as always and therefore kind of noisy... i guess it also depends on where you’re seated as i had different tables in the past where I felt it was easier to have a nice conversation. But overall: excellent as always ... I’ll be back for sure!
Our server Patrick was lovely!
We always have a wonderful experience here. Everything from the food to the service and ambiance are always impeccable.
Always such a pleasure‼️ Thanks everyone for always taking such good care of us‼️ See you soon again 💕
Their chef special was $55 per person and waiter convinced to order 3 of us. But the volume was for 2. The main was one small block of white tuna so we had to ask some bread after realizing the course was finished. ( Husband and I are 50ish and 15 y big stomach son) The dish was very tasty. That was unfortunate judgement by the waiter/ waitress.
Great casual vibe. The food is amazing, especially the Anglotti. It is the best pasta I've had. Their bread is also very good.
This is now one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver! The only downside is that since it’s so popular, it books very quickly and they pack the tables pretty close together so don’t be surprised if you are sitting right next to strangers with no elbow room!
Incredible food! And the best table in the house 😉 - small booth. Service was constant and attentive. Being very picky, only one guy (think the main dude) showed the warmth and interest in us as patrons that I would expect in a restaurant of this caliber. Overall however, experience was excellent and we will return - oh that food!!!
Great food and great servise! Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver:)
Food is always great and made fresh. We had to wait a while for our table since it was still occupied. They made up for it with some sparkling wine and extra appies though. Great service!
I have to say that I was quite disappointed given the hype for this restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad day for us or maybe we just didn’t order the right food but I didn’t find the food was anything special and the atmosphere was busy and noisy. I will give it another shot but first impression is only an average place with poor value.
Our party had 7 people, so we were directed to the family-style fixed-price meal. After a brief discussion about our wine selections (the wine list was quite decent), we were informed that the chef would choose dishes that would pair with our wines. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food (the Ricotta Gnudi was especially delectable) and the wines (the Lambrusco was lively and fun, and the Primitivo was lush). The desserts were equally delicious. The seating was snug, but not cramped -- in the end, it actually enhanced the intimacy of the family-style meal. After all was said and done (and eaten), the biggest surprise came with the bill -- we found the price to be very reasonable. Finally, special "kudos" to the air-conditioning system -- it was quite a warm (hot) day and the temperature inside the restaurant was perfect...Perfect...!!
I have to say I wasn’t happy with the meal. The collard greens were WAY too over cooked. I found the presentation sloppy and some dishes lacked flavour. The duck was tasty and the pan Cotta was great in flavour but presentation lacking like it had just been thrown on the plate. I have travelled a fair bit and tried tasty menus in many different restaurants and I would suggest much smaller portions with a sampling of more dishes. Service was great and accommodating. Thanks
We did the tasting menu and everything tasted great. We had trouble deciding which dish we liked the most. The staff were also very attentive without being overbearing. Thank you for making such a special occasion even more special!
Amazing food and great staff. The atmosphere is fantastic - relaxed yet upscale!
Thank you for making my son’s birthday special! Food was so yummy. Our waiter was great. All staff was great. Will recommend to friends. Only thing on wish list is that you have one GF pasta & bread option available.
Wasn’t as good as I’d imagine it to be. The pasta (with pork ribs, meatballs, beef?) was too saucy and the garlic bread was smothered in butter.
The service was great but the tables were unnecessarily close to one another (if you’re dining out with your other half)
Overall it was an alright experience and the food was okay. You’re better off at Trattoria for the pasta.
Absolutely delicious. Seated at the bar and was very well taken care of.
Seriously my fav restaurant in the city. Must get: Burrata and bagna cauda :D
Very enjoyable experience.
It was delicious and great service. Prices a little high for us... If it wasn't, we'll be back more often!
We made a reservation two or so weeks in advance and the only seats available were at the bar. This turned out to be great we got a lot of attention and great service because of where we were sat.
The two of us ordered the family style menu. This is great value but soooooo much food. Next time we’ll just order from the menu. Though this is a great way to go because you try so many things.
The food was good. When we got to the main dish it was amazing. But before that, I would say good.
Overall it was a great time and experience. I highly recommend the place.
This is my go-to absolute FAVE restaurant. Food & service are outstanding. With seasonal ingredients & ever changing menu, the dishes are prepared to perfection. Buon appetito!
We had been to Savio Volpe only once a while back with friends and had such an amazing experience then that my husband and I chose it for the celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary.
It was a delight from the start! My husbands parents had dropped off surprise flowers and a card for us before we arrived and it was arranged as a beautiful welcome to our table for two along with a glass of Prosecco.
The staff and service was warm, knowledgeable and ultimately professional. We decided on the Chef’s Suggested menu and it did not disappoint. Delicious charcuterie board, an out of this world kale salad, light as air pasta and the most amazing steak made both our meal and our celebration perfection.
We have done nothing but rave about Savio Volpe since our dinner and will definitely be back.
And deepest thanks for making a very special evening even more wonderful.
Great food. We choose our own meal rather than doing the "we choose for you" option. We enjoyed everything. Server was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Amazing dinner. We were celebrating our birthday - not only did they leave a birthday card at our table but also gave us birthday pavlova. Exceptional service
Always consistently delicious and a fun dining experience!
My favourite restaurant! Never disappointed! Servers are friendly and always smiling. Great choices in suggestions. Everything is consistently awesome!
I've tried to like Savio. This was my third time eating at there. Many friends and acquaintances speak highly of it but i just don't agree.
On a positive, some of the food dishes are excellent. The restaurant itself is a nice space, bright, airy and energetic but at times it's simply too loud, aggravated by the fact that some of the tables packed in too tightly.
I don't consider myself a 'big-eater', but on 2 of the 3 occasions i've eaten here i've gone home barely satiated. On the 3rd occasion i suspect it was because a friend and I spent close to $300 incl'd wine. This time i went with my wife and toddler. One of the dishes we ordered was a $24 cappelletti pasta 'share plate' that contained probably less than 20 small individual pasta pieces. My daughter loved them and indeed they were quite tasty, but i found myself increasing irked by a $24 pasta dish that wouldn't have satisfied an 18 month old child. I know what you're thinking, this guy's just cheap...maybe, but i don't think so. I don't consider myself price sensitive, nor would my friends. I regularly dine at similar tier restaurants in Vancouver and don't get upset by the prices/value.
The coup d'etat for me was the rather smug, nonplussed attitude of the millenial (no offence millennials) waiter to whom i complained about this matter. He barely acknowledged the complaint, let alone apologised, offered an explanation or a word with the manager.
My advice, if you want good Italian food, try Sorella on Cambie. Have the arancini balls followed by the duck ragu. You won't be disappointed.
Savio for me remains an 'Emperor's new clothes' restaurant. I just don't get what all the fuss is about.
My favorite restaurant in the city! I always go for the chefs tasting menu and always leave more than satisfied and think it is a great value. And their cocktails hover around $10 which I really love in a place of this caliber. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent restaurant, with fantastic energy.
Our server Nate was so fun and personable with great recommendations...
ORDER THE CHICKEN! Its to die for...
This is one of our favourite Italian haunts in the city. Vancouver is lucky to have it.
Noise level too high
I get to visit Vancouver about once a year. Since being taken to Savio Volpe by friends a couple of years ago, I book this restaurant as soon as my flights are confirmed. The food is of an excellent standard, with the serving staff being friendly, knowledgeable and keen to ensure your eating experience is the best it can be. The ambience of this restaurant and it's consistently high standards mean I will be back at the earliest opportunity.
