Paese Ristorante Bathurst St.
Great food and ambiance. A great place to eat. Excellent service.
Food was good? But all side dishes are extra. It is overpriced
This dining experience was very disappointing. The menu on OpenTable is not the same menu in the restaurant. Furthermore, we waited over an hour for our main dishes, which were not worth the value. We ordered pizza, pasta and chicken dishes. The portions were very small, and the toppings on the pizza were minimal. Additionally, the pizza was not flavored at all. Maybe is was partly due to the lack of toppings, but the sauce was also bland. Pasta had good flavor, portion was so small we left hungry. Chicken dish was good flavor, only dish with a credible portion size. We were originally going to stay for dessert, but after the long wait, we didn't think it would come in a reasonable amount of time. It was probably small and overpriced too. Trying to pay was another wait, one payment machine for the entire restaurant is a joke. Our server was very good at his job, another one was coughing all over his hands however. Overall, what started out as a nice family dinner, turned into an un-enjoyable meal that could have been made at home. With the million restaurant choices within the same area, saw no reason to ever return or recommend. Overpriced for what you receive. We would not recommend.
The food is outstanding ....try the mushroom pasta!!!
Have eaten at Paese many times. This was the first time the food disappointed. I felt the octopus was over grilled and tasted burnt. My wife thought it was OK. But I also thought the broccolini was burnt. Everyone seemed to be ok with the other dishes. Polenta chips were very good. Veal liver was ok. Service, as usual, was very good - although we did have to ask for wine top ups.
Our waitress was incredible. Sabine is the best. Her attention to filling up our glasses and making sure we were being looked after us always top notch. The food isn’t as good as it has been in the past. It wasn’t horrible by any means but just not like it use to be.
We enjoyed our evening at Paese. Our server was terrific, just the right balance between being friendly and yet not intrusive. The food was a bit expensive, but the quality was very good. I would prefer that at least one side is included with the main courses. Also, I found the wine by the glass expensive - $14 for 5 oz. That's higher than we've had at restaurants of similar quality. I had mentioned in my reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary but it seems to have been overlooked. I would come back, as the overall experience was positive and the quality of the food is always consistently good.
End of year party
1 menu and a wine list for 5 people
Had to ask for menus
Poor explanation of specials
All side dishes are add ons
Had to send a steak back twice.
My guest decided not to bother eating the steak after the second time
Felt embarrassed and disappointed
Will book elsewhere next year
Solid Italian restaurant. Food and service on the mark. Fresh and clean feeling dining room. Ambiance is good for either a date, business lunch or family dinner. Location is very good with parking in front. Prices are reasonable and a surprisingly extensive wine list. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!!
I celebrated my birthday last year here twice and really enjoyed it so I booked it again to celebrate with my friends for this year. I was disappointed on all areas. The menu has changed so all mains no longer come with sides and the presentation of the food now looks bare and not boring. Other items like the polenta fries are now hard chips. I can get those in a bag. Even the service lacked attention. I will not return.
Outstanding mushroom pasta
Good food but portions have shrunk and prices have gotten higher.
Wonderful food and staff as always! I love going back again and again.
Very good food. Very pricey. Noisy. My family had problems hearing each other across a table. We were only 4.
Poor value. Portions are skimpy and entrees are served without side dishes which are priced separately. The liver dish was ordered medium rare, but came too well done. Wine list has very few moderately priced wines. However, the restaurant was crowded, so they must be doing something right.
Great food. Amazing service
My daughter and my self enjoyed our dinner tremendously. The plate of olives and the polenta were so delicious. The veal was very tender and so tasty with Marsala, spices and mushrooms. The deserts out of this world. Thank you.
Great restaurant in North York!
Food is delicious and nicely presented. The staff are friendly, professional and attentive. Great choice of wines by the glass as well.
Would recommend for a special occasion or a night out with friends!
I could have made an entire meal just out of the side dishes ... it was delicious!
My pasta with porcini mushrooms was outstanding and so was my husband’s liver! Our friends enjoyed their veal and bolognese as well.
The new menu is excellent.
We really enjoyed our experience.
Amazing service. Amazing food. A solid 10!!!
I enjoy the new recipees. Good selection, serving to a variety of tastes and preferences.
Beautiful evening. The ambiance was perfect. The Vegan special was delicious.
Love this restaurant.
The food was alright nothing special, not worth the value price.
Always yummy with fabulous service. I preferred when the menu wasn’t ala carte style. We also miss the grilled calamari that hasn’t been on the menu for a while.
Always a fabulous dinner. The staff are fabulous and friendly.
Birthday. Loved the idea for a birthday. Noted birthday in my reservation for open table and with a surprise at the end of our meal they brought a cookie out with a candle.
the fig pizza is outstanding
the entire meal was, as always, delicious
Our party of 7 went to Paese Ristorante to celebrate my daughter and my birthday last Saturday. The service was attentive and the food was outstanding. The special pizza - prosciutto and fig was to die for; the gnocchi was pillowy and soft; the black cod and beef cheek were both melt in your mouth good; and dessert was amazing.
Love love love it there! We dine there regularly!!!
I have been this restaurant many times as the food use to be very good. Therefore, I invited my friends to PAESE for gathering. I was very disappointed of the food in the last time visit. The vegatable dish and pizza were very salty, and the pasta was not cooked through, some pasta sticked together and very hard. Very very disappointed of the food.
Disappointing menu, high end prices, no atmosphere, food ok.
We went for a family birthday dinner. Everything about this restaurant is very good. Service was attentive but not bothersome. Appetizers were very good. My family had Caesar salad, meat balls, tomato salad and soup specials. Main course we had veal scallopini, gnocchi and pizza. All were very good. Dessert was topped off with Tiramisu and pressed coffee which has always been very good. One thing though bothered me and reduced my rating was their decision to switch up menu by not including any vegetables with their mains forcing you to spend extra for sides. The amounts for the sides were not overly generous and in my opinion pricey. I wish they would include a basic side with mains with at least some courtesy vegetables and give us the choice to add on sides. I feel this just adds to the cost of the meal unnecessarily and reflects negatively on the restaurant. On this issue it is not good value. I hope they reconsider this approach.
The food and the service was OUTSTANDING. I would highly recommend that you try the mushroom pasta!!!!
Food is amazing as always- kale salad and pera pizza are highly recommended.
And the service rounds out the whole experience with the best staff in the city.
Thank you Paese!
New chef excels with new menu, more changes to come
Continued good food, service, value
Pleasant experience, very good food quality and the portions were sufficient. In addition, service was great and very interactive. All in all, I would recommend.
The food is exceeded by the wait staff’s exceellence
Very nice restaurant WITH parking. We had a group of 8 and got a square table which is wonderful for conversation. Noise level was very good, excellent for conversation. Did not like the new lunch menu. The food was good but had to order all items separately, which is not good for a lunch with associates, etc. that are not prone to sharing. The daily special, rack of lamb came only as a meat with nothing else.
Biggest problem is consistency.
Sometimes food is excellent and other times mediocre. This visit it was mediocre;
such a shame as there is little nearby. When it shines it is a delight to dine here.
Came for Summerlicious - and not at a busy time. Salad to start was adequate, veal was drowned in a brown sauce which was tasteless and no accompanying vegetables. Best was lemon dessert - just the right mixture of tart and creamy.
Maybe a while before we return
