Palio - Ann Arbor
Ask about our Birthday Meal Deal!
Palio del Sole (Palio rooftop) is walk-in only!
Did not have the first drink we asked for. Did not have ideal salad dressing choices. Had dirty plates, glassware and silverware. Long wait for everything. Not the usual Palio experience.
Everything I have eaten at Palio's has been amazing. I highly recommend!
Always love going here when we visit Ann Arbor. Wonderful food and excellent service. There were tons of flies today though so that was gross and annoying. We’ll still be going back next time we’re in town but hoping the fly situation has been resolved by then.
Everything was delicious. Our wait person was excellent. Sam.
We were disappointed in the slow service. It took 25 minutes for a drink order and another 15 before we received said drinks and bread. Meals were slow coming out as well. Food was tasty, and atmosphere good.
Cocktail arrived after a long time (server apologized) lukewarm and was sent back to be chilled. Pasta dish was inedible....cold and congealed with 2 shrimp for added cost of $6. Returned to kitchen where they 're-tossed' it and changed order to meatballs. Meatballs were hard and tough but I was overtaken with hunger and ate them. My partner's meal (salad) was fine but he didn't have a cocktail.
Waiter did not give bread
My sweetheart and I wanted a light dinner so I decided to try Palio We shared the veggie thin crust pizza and the grilled shrimp salad It was perfect and our waitress served it homestyle So sharing was easy We’ll definitely return for great food and great service!
We are longtime patrons of Palio and it was a no-brainer to bring a beloved out-of-town friend for a great meal. The old-fashioned touches--like taking an unfinished portion away from the table and boxing it for us rather than handing us a styrofoam container and the attentiveness of the server to our needs--make Palio a favorite.
Absolutely loved the food, the ambiance and patio.
Upscale Italian. Great for dinner. Service can get a little slow when it is busy, but it is on the main street in Ann Arbor, with lots of activity both indoors and out. The food is traditional Italian with a lot of fresh ingredients/vegetables and a large variety to choose from including fish, veal and beef.
Awesome as always!!!
Was a little disappointed on this trip to Palio. We love this place and will go back but the evening we went just did NOT come together. First we were seated in the very back when several tables were open on our way. Then the restaurant was extremely HOT. Yes, the weather was hot but we were early diners so I can only image it got much worse throughout the night.
Our meals came out within two minutes of being served our salad which was a little disappointing. Our server was very polite and professional. So not blaming her. Like I said it was just an off night.
I used to eat here once a month when I lived in Ann Arbor. Either my standards have changed significantly or Palio has really changed. The wait service was poor; clearly a bunch of ill trained college students that cared little about delivering great service. The Tortelinni was no better than the frozen variety you can buy at Costco. When we arrived the kitchen staff was exchanging foul jokes right in front of waiting patrons. Overall disappointment; won’t be dining any longer at Palio when in Ann Arbor.
Food was done long before it was served. We had a party of 10 so gratuity was included felt like our server could care less. Person who was supposed to be her trainee paid us a little more attention but not much. Pasta was literally stuck together and lukewarm when it was served, and we could see it sitting on the shelf forever after it was cooked. Asked for rooftop seating told there was none available even though we could clearly see enough seating if tables were rearranged. Roof was super busy but lower level was fairly empty. We have eaten here for so many years and on so many occasions, wanted to show off the restaurant and the roof to our guests from out of town and it was a huge disappointment for all. Can’t tell you the next time we will be back, even though this is usually our go-to.
Was good for casual dining. Some of the meals were okay, but not to the level of great dining. Atmosphere was very nice on the rooftop and service was very good. Prices were reasonable for the quality provided.
Enjoyed our anniversary dinner here on Saturday evening (6/16/2018.) Food was delicious without being overly pretentious. We enjoyed some favorites (asiago al forno, rigatoni lucchese) and especially loved the tortellacci alla palio (that veal filling along with the demi-glace is memorable.)
Service was great as well... polite, friendly, and efficient without the overbearing fake best-buddy mannerisms you find at cheap places.
The discount for it being our anniversary was substantial and very much appreciated. :)
The only reason it wasn't a complete 5-star experience is that we were seated near the back of the house. Being close to the kitchen entrance (and back door exit with staff coming and going) is never fun. However, to Palio's credit, neither the kitchen nor the staff using the back door exit were ever too loud or distracting.
Altogether and enjoyable evening dinner and one we will repeat. :)
I was so disappointed with Palio!!! I made a reservation a month early for 8 to celebrate my daughter's graduation. The waitress seemed bothered that we even came. She seated all 8 of us at a small round table right by the kitchen. I asked to move again she seemed bothered by us. It was extremely cold inside. She gave us minimal amounts of bread and spoke in a very low voice. We could barely hear her talk. She would come to the table to get 1 persons drink order than walk away when 4 of us wanted another drink. Never asked how the meal was and never checked on us unless we got her attention. The food was ok, nothing great. Our bill was very expensive. I wish I would have never picked this restaurant for my daughter's special occasion. We were treated very poor.
We were disappointed in the meals. This has been a go to spot for our group for a long time. Entrees were dry and chicken was chewy. One entree cam after everyone had finished. Won’t be going again soon.
Food was definitely not up to the standards I've come to expect from a Main Street Ventures restaurant. Mediocre and not hot. Service was excellent however.
One of our favorite Ann Arbor restaurants. This time, we took close friends, our daughter, and her friend out to dinner to celebrate our daughter's graduation. The service was excellent.
Food was great as always. They are very accommodating for all of my food allergies/restrictions
Charming waitress in training gave outstanding service, as did her trainer. Really tasty food, generous servings, nice ambiance (but I must admit we were there before the restaurant got crowded.
Wonderful Italian dinning. A perfect restaurant to enjoy a celebration.
Really missed the mark. Food was mediocre and incorrect. My husband ordered capellini alfredo with chicken. Got fettucini alfredo without chicken. He sent it back and they brought him plain capellini with a sad piece of chicken. When we pointed it out to the waitress she said she would bring us a bowl of alfredo sauce. Really? Take it back and make it right!! That didnt even happen though. She came back 10 min later and says “were going to comp your meal.” Um ok. Thanks, but did you run out of alfredo sauce??? We were really disappointed. This used to be one of fav spots, but it will be a long time before we go back...
My friend and I sat on the back patio on a Friday night. Do be warned that your reservation won’t count for patio seating so you may have to wait longer for that. It was a hot night but it was pleasant on the patio with the fans going. The waiter was nice and attentive. Food was reasonably priced for Main Street. Great sangria.
So disappointed and we have visited this establishment many times. Service was awful and food came cold and poorly made; this is pasta too! Wrecked a birthday celebration. Awful.
It was our first time and won’t be our last! Our family loved it.
The grilled seafood and red sangria were terrific, in addition to sitting outside.
I went to Palio with my daughter on Mother’s Day. Our waiter was excellent. (I think he was the best waiter at Palio as far as I can remember). But for some reasons the food was not as tasty as before. Maybe different chefs were working on Mother’s Day?
One of my go-to restaurants in Ann Arbor. Fresh pasta made in-house.
Food quality mixed. Some great and others notably lacking. Several items arrived late and dishes no longer hot when served. Drinks arrived late. Not offered a second round on beverages nor were water glasses refilled until after the meal. Overall disappointment and not worth the price by far.
Dinner was delicious and service was fine.
We did come back later though for dessert and drinks and the bar service was terrible. We had to wait way too long for simple cocktails and wine.
Our dining area was a little tight when it filled up. The asiago appetizer was dry & hard. Otherwise, everyone at our table enjoyed their meal.
If your looking for good italian this is the place. You can't go wrong with and entree.
We originally made a reservation for 4; however at the last moment added a fifth person. The restaurant was very busy with Prom Night guest. The staff did an excellent job of taking care of us with the addition of another person to our reservation. As always the food and service were outstanding. We love Palio!
the food was very good but the service was slow. wait staff was being trained.
seems they could figure out a better way to train
Our new favorite Italian restaurant in Ann Arbor!!
I was disappointed. The food was not nearly as good as I remember. Our server was great (high point), but overall a disappointing experience.
