Open since 2002 Palmettos on the Bayou is a charming and elegant Acadian style restaurant serving classic Creole dishes highlighting fresh Louisiana ingredients.

Set on the tranquil Bayou Bonfouca near Old Town Slidell, our waterfront restaurant/event venue is known for its southern charm. Palmettos famous Brunch features live music on Fri, Sat, and Sun. The 5,000sqf covered deck provides a dramatic outdoor setting at night for romantic dinners and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere during the day.

Executive Chef Ross Dover, formerly of Restaurant August, focuses on locally sourced ingredients with everything made from scratch. In addition to our regular menu we also feature a Seasonal Tasting menu. Enjoy gumbo, chargrilled oysters or Louisiana crab cakes to start your meal. Entrees include steak, fresh fish, shrimp and more. Finish your meal with one of our homemade desserts.

    We had a great meal at the Sunday brunch on December 3rd for my mom’s 91st birthday. Everything was delicious and the presentation was very nice . There were two different jazz bands while we were there . We sat outside and it was beautiful and decorated for Christmas . I had the boudin eggs Benedict it was amazing . For apps we had crab spinach dip , cake syrup glazed pork belly and biscuits . It was the best meal and service we’ve ever had at Palmetto’s. Great value .

    From appetizer to entree, great good as usual, steaks were cooked to temperature requested. Redfish Ponchartrain was great as well and fish was cooked the right way! Smoked chicken was moist and tasted great with right amount of smokiness!

    The food was delicious. The pork belly, biscuits, pumpkin loft bread and Benedict eggs amazing. Natalie our server was so friendly and great. The place is so pretty and nice jazz music duet.

    Love this restaurant and Went there for a highly anticipated Thanksgiving. Dinner ..turkey was smoked and very dry , no sauce or gravy . a baked sweet potato loaded with mediocre ingredients. Dessert was mediocre at best. pretty disappointing.

    Gorgeous scenery, beautiful setting, we went for the first and only time for Thanksgiving so it was a special menu but absolutely delicious! Service was terrific and we will be back!

    Service was poor. Food wasn’t worth the price point. Gumbo and fried oysters were very salty. Wedge salad was pretty good though. Beautiful location with nice views.

    Our favorite place!! Always amazing, it was our 16th wedding anniversary! We were their very first wedding all those years ago so it holds a very special place in our hearts! Food and service were outstanding per usual!! Thank you!

    Wonderful Jazz brunch on Sunday. Had the beet salad and couchon de lait specials, so flavorful and delicious! Two different jazz ensembles made for an enjoyable afternoon outside on the patio. Great weather to enjoy their outdoor seating. Will be back!

    Palmettos is all about the atmosphere. Sure, the food was really good (chicken and waffles) the service was great. But sitting on the outside deck on the bayou and listening to live music is just the iciing on the cake. This restaurant is a hidden gem that has been around since 2002 that I never knew about. A great place for special occasions even though the noise level may be a little too high for alot of conversation.

    Great Food, excellect service and amazing atmosphere. We were celebrating our one year anniversary and we had great time. the server was very friendly and suggested great dishes. Everyone was was helpful and offered to refill our drinks and checked on us to make sure we had a great experience. over all it was a five star I would recommend this place.

    Great customer service, wonderful ambiance, seating outdoor looked amazing even though we chose to sit inside. A little pricey but excellent quality of food. Will definitely be going back!

    We went for Sunday Brunch. The one music, flute, clarinet, horn, and one guitar players (duo) knew their music, but it was way to loud. We were seated in the outside area. When servers walked past us on the decking planks, it sounded pounding like “drums beating.” The servers were busy. There was a lot of “drum” traffic. Our server never came back to ask about our meal. My catfish sandwich was good, but the fries were not. They were marginally warm. The steak was salty, very salty. Almost not edible. We ate our food and paid our bill. I’m not so sure I’ll return for brunch.

    The food was very good but a little on the pricey side. Our party of 5 ordered the charbroiled oysters and boudin balls for appetizers. Entrees included the bananas fosters french toast, chicken and waffles and roast beef poboy. The food was very good in taste and quality. However, the charbroiled oysters were so tiny ($18/half a doz). The chicken and waffles were nothing to write home about. The chicken was a little bland and the syrup on the waffles was a bit overwhelming. Roast beef poboy was a good size and my husband said it was very good. Service was prompt and friendly. The thing that made the experience not 5 stars was the fact that I made a reservation for brunch, arrived on time and was seated in a section of the patio that was secluded and in the sun. After the meal we waled to the dock area to grab a photo and noticed that the area was fully covered in the shade and empty. Why couldn't we have sat there? Also, the table they put us at was a table for 4 with a chair added on at the end for our 5th person. Meanwhile, there was a six top next to us...empty. I am just not sure why we got such a crappy table when I made the reservation in advance.

    Just the right ambience and atmosphere for our anniversary dinner! Everyone at the restaurant were great from the hostess to our waitress Lauren! We enjoyed the service overall as she was very attentive and responsive and respectful. The food and drinks were great as well! Our fried oysters were great start to our meal and the ribeye and duck leg l’orange complemented each other so well! We look forward trying out other menus as well as the brunch! Thank you for our great night!

    Palmettos has gotten better and better over the years. I recommend getting a reservation and dining outdoors when possible. Food has been consistently good, service excellent.

    first time visit..we are from kenner..we had a lovably evening..the food was amazing..maybe complimentary bread and butter would be a nice extra touch..steak should have better choice of sides than just fries..desserts a little pricey..but we will be back..

    Beautiful evening! we went for my husbands 31st birthday, and sat on the patio ( i do recommend bug spray they had fans and other steps taken to help with mosquitos but it is a swamp) and there was live music beautiful lighting and wonderful food, our server was kind and attentive and never did i have to wave anyone down for anything. We had the NY strip and the smoked chicken and were both very pleased with our meal. The chai creme brulee is a very strong flavor which I enjoyed but my husband found overwhelming.

    Celebrated husband’s birthday on our 1st visit and will make it our go to place for celebrations in the future. Food was delicious and creative. The value was excellent. Best bleu cheese dressing ever. The tiramisu was the best. Staff was courteous, friendly, and accommodating.
