Quick appetizers and Pizza before a show at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. Thought the apps were pretty good, we had two specials, Eggplant Rolllatini and calamari with shrimp, pineapple and red pepper. The Pizza was a disappointment. Not really a thin crust as promised, a little burnt on the top. The service was uneven but the overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable.

The restaurant needs an overhaul it looked dingy the windows were dirty. Waitress was not familiar with the menu or what the name of the house wine was or if they carried other wines (which they didn’t). Eggplant Parmesan was dry .

The food was okay and it was inexpensive so that was a plus. The portions are also pretty big. The service however was abysmal. She forgot to bring half the drinks, Had to be asked for bread twice and one of the wines had stuff floating in it. When asked if there was a wine menu she seemed stumped despite the menus reference of one. She also didn’t know and couldn’t be bothered to find out what the house wine was.

The original restaurant was across the street from this current location ..they also had a pizza joint on the other side of the same street. For whatever reason they moved the original restaurant into this pizza parlor...not good. What was once a romantic setting is now a combo fast food grub hub. Looks like they do a lot of take out while trying to maintain an in-house dining experience ...just doesn’t work. Service is average to slow and the food is pedestrian. Skip this place unless you go for pub grub

We had an outstanding meal with family after visiting a local museum in New Brunswick. The food was fresh and very tasty and they even offer small and large portions, which was great for those who don’t want a lot in their plate! Great service by Emily and a lovely atmosphere. Extremely disappointing experience. We have been to Panico’s before at it’s location a crossed the street. The service was inconsistent, the selection was poor and the entree was cold when served. What used to be a premier restaurant in New Brunswick has turned into a pizzeria that serves some meals.

I ordered the veal parm and it was overcooked, very greasy and very hard and dry. It didn't even look like veal. My companion had veal saltambocca and said it was very salty. I should have sent the food back but I had a coupon for a free meal. Will not go back.

We were among the disappointed folks thinking that there was going to be a fine dining option to the pizzeria. Not so! We weren’t aware of the several large entertainment events going on in New Brunswick last Friday. Clearly this restaurant was rather overwhelmed. There was no one greeting people or seeming to check reservations. We were finally given a table, one of two, in the hallway joining the 2 dining rooms. There are tv’s everywhere but none visible from the hall. We were rather ignored for a bit. We asked if clams could be prepared in garlic and oil rather than marinara and were pleased with a positive response. They arrived very tasty indeed. The Caesar salad that we ordered was forgotten..... We both chose veal dishes, parm and piccata. Both were huge servings , cane with pasta, were tasty and bargain priced at $15. each. Coffee and a cannoli completed our evening. We would return but with a different expectation.

Much of our negative experience had to do with our server. It took a good long time to place our orders because she disappeared and when she stuck her head around the corner she ignored my waving arms to get her attention. Despite very few people being in the restaurant, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks and another 30 to get our food. Our appetizers came with our meal, so we canceled one. It was a goodbye party for a colleague and it fell flat.

The location located at 103 Church Street, New Brunswick NJ has closed. This was the upper scale restaurant that is represented on open table. The Panicos restaurant location across the street has been and still is a pizza parlor. We had to find another restaurant to celebrate my brother's 50th birthday. We obviously couldn't celebrate his birthday at a pizza parlor.

Service is terrible! My salad came quickly but my husbands soup came 15 minutes after I finished the salad. Dining room small but server had problems remembering which table ordered what. Food is mediocre at best. Didn’t have the pizza but that looked great. If we go back probably I’ll definitely stick with that. Good bang for your buck if culinary details aren’t your thing.

Food was good; but we were very disappointed that the elegant full-service restaurant has closed and Panico's Restaurant has been consolidated with Panico's cafe and pizzeria across the street. The menu is much simpler. This is a real loss to New Brunswick's fine dining scene.

I thought the open table listing was not representative of this restaurant. It’s basically a standard pizza place with an Italian menu. Our seats had ripped vinyl. The table top was loose and jiggled around. Lights needed bulbs replaced. The waitress never refilled our water during the meal. My wife ordered a small chicken Marsala and I ordered a large chicken frances- but the portions were identical despite a $4 difference in cost. The food was ok but nothing special. There are many other options in New Brunswick to try.

Closed the Restutant next door and combined them Save your money and effort We waited about 20 minutes for someone to come and take our name to sit and we had a reservation. We gave up. Told the person we were leaving he said ok. We sat there with others and watched several full plates of food go back to the kitchen from tables Decor and ambiance were pizza parlor. Not nice Restutant as the other one was. Just total confusion. People just running around in circles. I did not see any happy customers. NEVER AGAIN. so many good places around do not bother. This will be out of business soon enough. Maybe a good place will open in it’s place.

We found the food was delicious, as it was in its prior location, but the service was poor. Our server, Dana I believe, tried her best but it appeared she had not been trained sufficiently or lacked experience. No one came around to refill water glasses, we were not asked promptly if we needed add’l drinks or if we wanted anything else. In fact, the bill arrived before anyone was asked if they wanted coffee. I won’t rush back.

Made a reservation thinking it was the original higher end Panicos and we got there and they moved to a pizzeria across the street. Not what we signed up for. Waitress didn’t know anything. Food was mediocre and they said they had the panicos wine list but they didn’t have anything other than a few btls. Cocktails were like a pizza place would serve. They should have posted on open table that they went out of biz and moved to a more casual pizzeria across the street.

This was the most disappointing and embarrassing day of my business life.I invited two of my customers & their wives to dinner at a "very nice " Italian restaurant .Panico's. I made the reservations and they were confirmed by Open Table at Panico's 103 Church St.When we arrived there was a sign on the door that stated Panico's relocated across the street to 93 Church St.We went into the "restaurant "and it was a pizzeria which is were I do not take customers for dinner.It was getting late so we stayed.My comments are reflected above regarding the food and service.Again this is a pizzeria geared to the college and theater crowd that has no atmosphere.I am very disappointed that I was not informed of this change.Embarrased because this is not the type of restaurant where I take my customers. Panico's used to be separated into 2 different restaurants, a casual pizza place and a more formal restaurant. Now they have merged. The room where we were seated was outdated and had a faintly odd odor to it. The menu was strange and ranged from casual sandwiches to more formal. The food tasted very good, but the waitress did mess up some of our orders. The presentation was mediocre. the prices were fair. The bar was nice and there was live music

I did not check any of the above boxes for a reason. Upon arriving at Panico's on Friday, 2/23 at 6:30pm, the restaurant looked dark inside. It was, along with chunks of concrete on the floor and dust everywhere. Panico's had closed for good, and as a subscriber to Open Table, I was never notified. Fortunately, my husband and I went next door to another restaurant, and we were lucky to get a table for 2 immediately. We had a concert to attend a few blocks away at 8:00pm, so we were able to keep our schedule on target. Doesn't Open Table stay on top of these unfortunate situations when a restaurant shuts down? Apparently this happened quite some time ago, since we later found out that Panico's had been sold and the new restaurant had already begun renovations.

The food was average at best. For the price I expected the food to be better. The wild rice was not al-dente but mushy and tasteless. The broccoli also was very plain. I left both side dishes on my plate. The salmon was delicious.

It was an amazing experience only dampened By learning the news that for Panico’s was closing. This is the place where we celebrated all sorts of occasions so Friday night was a bit sad. Thank you for letting us be part of your family.

Beware- they serve undercooked food! We went for Valentine's day dinner and the place was barely half full. We were seated immediately and given water, however it took our waiter over 15 minutes to take our order. We were told they would be bringing out bread but after watching every table around us receive theirs we had to ask 2 different people to receive ours. I then asked for a glass of wine and was told that they had to find our waiter. After waiting another 10 minutes we asked where our waiter was and he finally rushed out to take my order. After being there almost 45 minutes we finally received our food only to find out that my husband's chicken was raw. They took his meal off the bill but then rushed us out without any apologies. Never going back again

Servers were nice, but slow. Bathrooms need repair and the place is old. Needs an update. This being said, food was okay and it is convenient to theater and comedy club. Second time here, but we will try another restaurant next time.
