Food, staff and ambiance were fabulous. Only issue right now is the road construction and parking, but I knew that and went early. I was able to get parking across the street.
I take clients here 5-6 times per year and this last visit was a disappointment. Specifically the two lamb main courses we ordered. I would say they were both 70/30 fat to meat content. $200 bill for three people ... I am not impressed and after that I don’t intend to revisit.
My wife was late. It was an early siitting. Good service. Delicious food. Current menu is different than online.
We sat in the lounge and our server Max was so fantastic. There was a new bartender on who wasn’t doing the ... best? ...
Job, however, he was new so I’ll give him that. He just didn’t know how to make a paralyzer - a little alarming.
Max was so great about quality control of the drinks coming out of the bar and you could see him really caring about what was going out to every customer.
Thanks for going above and beyond.
New menu has some fantastic options!! As always the service was incredible and attentive
Food was excellent. Love the cheese boards and the different varieties.
food was done well, service was ok. atmosphere was pleasant except for the loud heating venting that seems to come on every 20 minutes.
We love the tourtiere as it is absolutely delicious! My brother-in-law also ordered the Chicken livers and although he said they were alright, he’s had better but they were still good. Service was excellent! We will definitely return.
We had the tortierre and bean cassoulet, as well as, the chicken liver appetizer. All was so very good! Natalie is a delightful server. Great “Smoking Jacket” drinks too :) Our first experience and we will be back!
The whole experience was just ok...which is disappointing as I went out of my way to eat there based on two recommendations. Food was good...not great. Thought the menu selection was extremely limited. Service below par and was very loud even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Would hate to see when it was actually busy. Area isn't great, ambiance ok.
Beet salad and tourtiere were good. Service was polite and efficient. Delicious bread.
Had a beautiful meal. Wonderful service. Fantastic atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
Good service, moderate prices. Good location in relation to MTC, concert hall etc. Friendly welcoming staff.
We always have a good experience at Peasant Cookery. From the great food, good service and great atmosphere, it never disappoints.
Buck a shuck oyster night no need to say anything else!
Very pleasant evening, polite staff & delicious food. The heat kept turning on which was very loud but at least it wasn't freezing inside. Enjoyable decor that was simple & non-pretencious.
I would recommend based on previous experiences. The French onion soup, mussels, charcuterie and tourtière are all to love. The ambiance is pleasant. On this occasion we decided to try something we don’t always do. They ran out of the lamb and I had settled for chicken I believe I could have done better on my own. My partner, she got the salmon. It was depressing. Lentils from a can overdone fish and a something of a creme sauce. Again we do better at this on our own.
Good very authentic French and good service and ambiance
Our serve Max was absolutely amazing! Made the whole experience.
We had a great meal. Our drinks (wine) were slow in arriving but after that everything was fine. We had an engagement we wanted to attend to and the waitress and staff made sure we were out on time.
There was5 in our group and we had to ask for our food as we had to leave for theatre. Others that arrived after us got food ahead of us. I asked for an item to be removed from dish, they offered a substitute however when dish arrived I got original dish. Server fixed immediately. Red cabbage side had hints of burnt which made it inedible. Food is usually good here, others at table liked their dishes.
Great food, fabulous service will definitely return and recommend
I noted on my notes I wanted a window table if possible, we were seated in the middle of the dining room. Server forgot our butter for the bread. No apologies given. Did not tell us about specials. Also our server didn’t tell us items that were missing from the menu before we ordered. The brisket was missing and that was the dish my husband wanted. Our server didn’t take our payment. Another sever had to. Appetizers were good. Main dishes were ok. My hubbies green beans were underdone. We’ve been here many times and the service was particularly only satisfactory today.
The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. It was a business meeting and we had enough alone time to conduct our business and enjoy our meal. I always recommend your restaurant as I enjoy going there so much! Have a great day!
A perfect night. Informed service, excellent food, and the ambiance is refined yet relaxed. I recommend the tourtiere!
My wife and I celebrated out 36th wedding Anniversary so had asked for a quieter table (I did mention what we were celebrating). Within 2 minutes of being seated, were we congratulated with a flute of champagne each and a sincere enjoy the evening by our server! Timing of the various dishes we had was perfect and both my wife and I fully enjoyed our meals, I had Spicy seafood pasta and my wife the fish and hickory sticks. We have been once before, a number of years ago, and the evening didn't stick out in my mind but this evening couldn't have been better!!
Thanks again to management and staff for helping to make our 36th enjoyable.
Good food, good service, all-around nice evening!
Excellent service. Always enjoy this restaurant. A Winnipeg favourite.
Always delicious and great service, our favourite restaurant!
It's a great place to take people from out of town. Good opportunity for them to see exchange district with all the old buildings and enjoy a nice meal
Been to Peasant Cookery a handful of times, and without fail they always impress. I came for a business dinner, my peer had the bison meatloaf with a beet salad appetizer, and I had the California cut Sirloin with an onion soup appetizer. All of it was exquisite. Our server Melanie was also incredibly kind and helpful in our selections. Will certainly be going again, and always highly recommend. Keep up the great (and delicious) work!
Predinner drink, wine and food all came at the same time.
Peasant Cookery is a great place to spend time eating good food, sipping good drinks and enjoying company. The food is delicious, and the ambience is cozy and chic. This is the perfect place to go for a birthday, anniversary, before a show, for a girls night, etc. One of my favorites.
Excellent service and ambiance! Except we were promised a free desert for our anniversary and then was charged for it.
Food is nothing special.
Oignon soup missed additional cheese and spice.
The Aged cheddar gnocchi was tasteless and a tiny portion.
The Seafood pasta was good, but nothing exceptional for the price and one again a small portion.
Food was mediocre, I was expecting more based on what I had heard about it. Over priced for the quality and amount of food.
Loved this place. Came highly recommended from friends that live in the area. Will go back. The food and service was outstanding.
Had dinner with family and friends before the Elton John concert! Our waitress was amazing! She was so accommodating and made great menu recommendations.! Drinks, appetizer’s, meals and dessert were all fabulous! Our first time but certainly not our last!
I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unfortunately I found the food was a bit disappointing, maybe because I had higher expectations. My chorizo meatballs were a bit dry, and the presentation was not super amazing.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Great, wide selection of wines by price. We were recommended a lovely Portuguese wine in our price range and it did not disappoint.
