Petit Louis Bistro - Roland Park
We love this restaurant!
Delicious brunch in a friendly, relaxed setting.
This restaurant has been a favorite and frequent stop, at different times of day, with family and friends over the last ten years.
Fine French food. Outstanding friendly Parisian maitre D.
Excellent service and amazing food. Pricing was more reasonable than expected.
Most recent visit last Saturday. We always return after being disappointed by going to other places that are supposed to be good , turn out to be mediocre and you still pay about $25 more for a dinner for two for the mediocrity.
Had the steak frites and it was cooked exactly as requested. It's not a huge, thick strip steak that you might get at Prime Rib but it's also less than half the price for a nice piece of meat. Wife had the trout and loved it as always. Cooked perfectly with some nice rice to accompany it.
Birthday dinner for 4. Salad and escargot starters were each flavorful and just the right amount. Duck confit was lovely. Lamb steak had terrific flavor (substituted duck fat roasted potatoes - good move). Quiche Lorraine was wonderful as always. Trout Almandine was a classic and the haricots were perfectly cooked. Relied on the Sommelier for a Burgundy recommendation in my price range. We were very pleased. Service was perfect. An excellent birthday dinner.
Presentation was beautiful.
An oasis evoking a more civilized way of dining — elegant but not too fancy, everything on the menu has its own life and distinction on the palate.
Another great meal at a wonderful restaurant. Everything from the food to the wine sterart to the service was fabulous
I have moved away from the area so do not get to visit as often as I used to, but when I am in town, I make this my top place to visit. Food is as good as anything you will get in any serious food city--anywhere in the world. Yes, anywhere in the world.
Food is always consistently excellent and this meal was truly exceptional
My husband and I had a wonderful wedding anniversary here. Excellent service. Terrific food.
Best restaurant in Baltimore! The food is excellent as is the service!
Outstanding food and service - elegantly casual. Just a lovely experience of a true French bistro in Baltimore.
Great anniversary dinner. Very loud but we expected that. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were very good.
Petite Louis is always consistently delicious! It’s a gem in the neighborhood and are always impressed.
The happiest dining atmosphere I have ever experienced.
We had a superb time on our date night. The space was much smaller than we anticipated, meaning higher noise levels. But the service was great, the food was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
The fois gras and vichyssoise were to die for. You will think you are in France.
Love this restaurant. Great food with amazing service!
Wife and I came here for a special occasion. The outside of the building, Tudor style, sets the scene of walking into something with history. You walk inside and the place has retained its wonderful historic ambiance. Fire place works in the winter.
Sorry for the lack of detail, but trying to keep it short... Food was outstanding as always. The duck is my go to meal. The eggplant appetizer is amazing. The wine list is pretty extensive and with the help of the amazing waitstaff, you'll have a bottle on your table or on ice in no time.
We will certainly be back many more times.
Noisier than usual. We were placed at a quiet corner. But noise was deafening
Our waitress was fantastic. My lamb entree was large but fatty. It was very loud in the restaurant because it was restaurant week and had specials.
It was a great experience (atmosphere, service, food, drink, etc.), for our 1st visit, at Petit Louis Bistro - we'll be back!
We came early and enjoyed most of our dinner in quiet. It was busy by the time we left, so the noise level was higher. The food was perfect and the service excellent.
This was my third or fourth visit snd I was just as impressed this time as the first. this was Restaurant Week and I had Duck Magret for my main course. Wonderful1
Hadn’t known it was restaurant week, but we had their standards and they were excellent—duck, steak, salmon. Their house red Cote du Rhone is superb, loved the Alsatian sparkling wine. Service was attentive. Nice to have a neighborhood French bistro in Baltimore!
Always a treat—food & service consistently terrific!
Everything was fantastic! However, I would recommend offering a Vouvray or chenin blanc wine option by the glass and maybe some sort of lemon or garlic aioli to be offered with the delicious frites as opposed to limiting options to Dijon or Ketchup. That’s the best I can come up with to make things perfect in my eyes;) So...very well done aside from that!
We had dinner recently at PL and went away happy, as usual. The service is
the best in town, especially considering that the restaurant is always busy.
Petit Louis has been one of favorite restaurants for years. This particular evening we were celebrating my husband's birthday. The restaurant was packed and extremely noisy and hectic. We hadn't realized it was the first day of Restaurant Week until we sat down at the table and saw the menu. If we had known, we would not have booked for the evening. Although our wait staff was extremely friendly and pleasant, it took quite some time before we were initially greeted at the table and it never became clear exactly who are server was for the evening. We had several people working our table. We were not checked on nearly as often as we have been in the past, having to call over a server several times. Unfortunately this was quite a mediocre experience compared to other meals at this restaurant. We did enjoyed our wine, cocktails and meals.
It would be nice if there were one or two vegan entrees on the menu.
I also wish the presentation of the food was nicer. My husband had the roasted salmon and everything was beige. A little garnish would go a long way. One more issue I had was with the frites . They were tasty enough but the pieces were so tiny , almost like leftover scraps instead of whole French fries.
That being said, we did have very good service.
Enjoyed the restaurant week menu. Food was great
So very loud!! Food was great however /)
Can't think of a better way to spend my birthday! Our waiter, Thillman, was most enjoyable. I love this restaurant, feels very comfortable and friendly.
I love the food at Petit Louis; it never disappoints. The French wines are well thought out. Service is very attentive and it is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The only improvement that I could mention is a way to improve the noise level. When it is crowded, it is noisy.
Dining at Petit Louis Bistro is always a pleasure, whether for lunch or dinner. We like the 3-course prix-fixe lunches for $29 because they allow my friend and me to experiment with different food offerings and flavors. The menu changes weekly. If ordered separately, the prix-fixe items would run around $45. If someone wouldn't want three courses, (too much food), you could order a couple of items off the regular lunch menu like delicious French Onion Soup and one other item and it would still come to about $29. So, whether for lunch or dinner, Petit Louis Bistro is a winner. You may even experience the pleasure of having Tony Foreman or Chef Cindy Wolfe stop by your table if they are on the premises. One caveat: parking in the small lot in front is tight. It is often necessary to jockey for a parking space. I am usually pretty lucky with getting a parking space.
The food was delectable! The service was fabulous!
First time diners and we loved our experience! The atmosphere is lively and cozy. The service is the best service I’ve had from a restaurant in years! Thillman deserves a shout out! You are wonderful and fun! The value of the food is great especially because of the spot-on atmosphere and service. We found a new favorite spot!
From the ambiance and service to the quality of our meal, we couldn’t be happier with our first time at Petit Louis Bistro. We especially appreciated the complimentary hors d’oeuvre. We’re looking forward to our next visit!
