Expectations were high. Wound up being very disappointed. Seating was very tight. Noise level is very loud. Woman sitting next to me hit me several times while putting her jacket on.
Waiter stepped on my foot 3 times when he came to my table, yes my feet were under the table.
The food was very bland and didn’t have any type of presentation. I am not someone that like a lot of salt or sauces on my food. But I do like it to have some taste.
My husband’s NY strip was excellent in cut and preparation.
Fantastic as always!
We visited on our anniversary, January 15, in the middle of restaurant week. Nevertheless food and service were still outstanding. My cucumber salad was lovely with a nice dill dressing . Salnon on a bed of potato and spinach was tasty . We each got the chocolate torte for dessert and our sever surprised us with a chocolate mousse. Cappuccinos finished our meal. Petit Louis has a lovely welcoming atmosphere.
One of my favorites! Authentic French bistro food.
As good as usual. However, the dessert was somewhat disappointing this time.
Never does Petit Louis disappoint!!! Thank you for remaining so consistent over the years!!! Touche'!
Overall food was good. Recommended wine pairings were perfectly on point, and enhanced our experience. Service was adequate. The restaurant was very busy given restaurant week, and perhaps servers were stretched thin, but our sever seemed rushed and just going through the motions. The environment was comfortable and romantic. We were surprised to see so many children there given the menu options, but they were well behaved :)
Petit Louis is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore by far.
From the delicious food to the amazing attention, they always make me feel welcome and like home.
In a word: Fantastic
Ps. Highly recommended the Magret de Canard
Neighborhood country French staple. Food is always excellent. Beautiful decor. Only downside is high noise level (the restaurant has an authentic tin ceiling.
Intimate dining experience where you can enjoy French cuisine in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Ask for wine suggestions to pair with your meal
We love this restaurant. The food and service are impeccable and the dining experience is in an authentic French Bisto atmosphere!
The food for Restaurant week was excellent. The wine pairings were also incredible. I was worried because it was Restaurant week that we would get less-quality food, small or portions or bad wines, BUT it was EXCELLENT. Also, we added a couple glasses of wine outside the wine pairing. I told the waiter what type of wine I liked and he brought me a taster to see if I'd a Lirac. It was great. The service was excellent. No one was rude or snobby. Everyone was attentive, respectful and charming. Definitely worth to come outside of Restaurant Week, and highly recommend to come visit. Food we got that was freshly and deliciously prepared: cucumber salad, escargot, scottish salmon and torte opera cake.
PetitLouis’s food and service are always excellent. It is definitely noisy, especially on a busy Friday night. We always have a delightful time and recommend it.
I love Petit Louis. My daughter has Celiac Disease and Petit Louis is one of the two or three consistently safe restaurants for her in Baltimore. Other restaurants simply aren't as careful about their handling of gluten-containing ingredients (cross-contamination is a huge problem). My daughter will be sick for days -- this is a matter of health, not simply a preference. I'm thankful for Petit Louis. Our server was wonderful and deserves special recognition (I'm sorry that I don't remember her name).
Food is excellent
Noise level very high
Went on a Sunday night for duck confit and mussels. I think I have figured out how to manage the wine list. The house wines on offer by the glass are actually decent. Stick with those and avoid the high mark up on bottles. Food and service was excellent. Has become one of our neighborhood go to restaurants, much like the sister restaurant around the corner, Johnny's.
Best value in the city by far. Always great food. Great service (somm is wonderful with amazing memory). Beautiful neighborhood. 10/10
Wonderful as usual!
I love the food at Petit Louis, however, I seldom come, especially with friends, because before long we are screaming at each other across the table . While noise seems to be a popular feature at many restaurants, when I eat out with friends, it's not just about the food. I want to have good conversation. It's just not possible at P.L. Clearly you don't need more customers, but I do hear more people complaining lately about noise in restaurants in general, and in particular, Petit Louis. I've eaten at many bistros in France, none as noisy as yours. Thanks for the opportunity to voice an opinion. Wish it would make a difference. I have even talked to a friend, an accoustical engineer, who has clearly outlined the problems with P. L.
The restaurant is very pretty inside but it does seem like a lot of people know each other and the waiters so if you are not from that area ( Roland Park) you might feel somewhat out of place. The food was not as good as I expected. The eggplant appetizer had a hot eggplant outside with cold ingredients inside (goat cheese and a tomato) which made for a strange combo. My husband had mussels which were good but the sauce was watery and tasteless. We get mussels frequently as an app and they were mediocre compared to other restaurants. I had scallops which was a special and they were very good. My husband had the trout almondine which was an ample portion but was very rich in a too buttery sauce. The pear tart for dessert was yummy. The wait staff was very nice and accommodating . I would go back and maybe try some other apps and entrees.
had a fantastic experience and the wine cellar rush event was great!
Always a terrific experience. Food is amazing & service, excellent! Our server, Cordelia was great, helpful & professional.
Great neighborhood restaurant, a little taste of Paris.
We both had lots of great coffee which was constantly re-filled without our having to ask. The gruyere cheese and mushroom omelets were good, but the restaurant should have small pepper mills on the table so that additional pepper can be added without bothering the servers. For dessert, it was great to have a tease, a single scoop of delicious raspberry sorbet. The only place where a real improvement would be welcome is the bread----it should be crisp French bread, not a tired brown bread; they used to have much better bread in the form of small loaves.
We are always delighted with the food and service at Petit Louis
Perfectly cooked and presented food; smart, knowledgable service; one of the best in Baltimore.
Great food and Atmosphere to celebrate a special occasion
Consistently one of the best in town. never had a bad meal there. Was reluctant to go out on New Year's Eve, but Petit Louis was as great as always. Food is always good. Great prix fixe menu that evening. Just wonderful.
We had a memorable dinner commemorating the New Year, 2019. The champagne toast was a nice complement to our wine-paired dishes.
Incredible food at a great place, a bit of an older crowd but the food is worth it
A perfect taste of France in Baltimore. The aesthetics are on point, as well as the food. Try the escargot, totally worth it!
Nice little bistro with very French decor. Terrific gruyere and mushroom omelette the day I was there!
Food and service always outstanding. We try to get there a few times a year.
As usual, Petit Louis did not disappoint. Having recently visited Paris, we wondered if we would still like this bistro as much. The answer? We did indeed. The meal was amazing. Everything we ordered was superb. The wine list was impressive and ran the gamut from very affordable to expensive. The choices were excellent and the sommelier knowledgeable. This is truly our favorite restaurant in the area.
It did not disappoint Servive and food were terrific
Our daughter requested dinner at Petit Louis before returning to LA after a wonderful Christmas visit, and we invited Nana to join us. Food was delicious, beverages were refreshing and Patrick, our server, provided the perfect hospitality, all of which resulted in a delightful dinner for three generations of family. We look forward to our next visit!
Wonderful and consistent as always. One of my favorite restaurants. I can always count on great food and service. I had the rockfish special. I usually have the duck but tried something different this time. I also had the squash soup which was amazing first. This is a great restaurant and always fun to go there.
Petit Louis never disappoints. We enjoyed the special champagne menu and the evening’s plat du jour. Delicious.
Petit Louis Bistro is always good food, service, wine list and the best soups in the state..
I am glad we only live 4 minutes from the Bistro.
