Petit Louis Bistro - Roland Park Ratings and Reviews
We've never been disappointed with a meal at Petit Louie. Many French restaurants in the U.S. tend towards heavy dishes and are not authentic. Both the food and ambience at Petit Louie reminds us of past trips to France. On this trip we met friends for dinner and all of us greatly enjoyed the meal, the wine, the space and the service. It is a gem.
The food wsd delicious and the service wss amazing. My new favorite restaurant.
Valentine's Day prix fixe dinner with wine pairings. Rose Champagne aperitif was corked but I didn't discern that until I had drunk a couple of sips. Should have sent it back but didn't. Meal was wonderful. Wine pairings for the most part were good. Chateau Gloria Bordeaux was too tannic and young to drink and the dessert wine did not pair well with the Macadamia Cremeaux, but the other pairings especially the Sipp-Mack Gewurztraminer with the Terrine of Foie Gras was spot on. Wonderful and attentive service and a nice table location made for a wonderful evening.
My husband and I had Valentine’s Day dinner at Petit Louis. We have been dining here off and on for many years. What I like best about their meals is the wine pairings. The food is usually very good. But the wine pairings are so perfect that it makes it especially enjoyable. The Valentine menu was excellent. My husband loved his steak. I loved the shellfish bisque. The scallops were very good. The wines were perfect with each course. We look forward to our next visit.
A quaint favorite, and so very French. For example, the world's best French onion soup! However, what keeps us going back, in addition to the seasonally appropriate fireplace, is the service. Nowhere else is the service so, well, perfect. A meal there is like being king and queen for a day!!!
Sat in the area to the right when entering - noise level much reduced from the left side. Food as always prepared and served with class. Always a treat!
Have been here before, and it Is always very nice. It is often quite crowded, but on this Sunday evening it was busy, but not overcrowded. The noise level was not unpleasant. As usual, the staff was very helpful and attentive. And the meal was delicious. This is a wonderful place for special occasions when spending a bit extra for authentic French cuisine is worth it.
We've been there many times. The food, the service , the attention we get .... being greeted by Patrick ....all make it a special evening
The food here is amazing. Top notch French cuisine and they have a knowledgeable sommalier and a cheese cart. It was a bit crowded and noisy, but we did go on a prime night shortly before Valentine's Day.
Food really wasn't good at all, here are the highlights. there 3 of us having dinner on a Thursday night. My skate was soggy and floating in butter, my husband' s steak was tough and not very good at all (if you cannot deliver steak frites . . . ) my daughter had 3 appetizers for her dinner 1 out of the three were good (An eggplant dish), a gnocchi appetizer was again floating in melted butter, gnocchi had a terrible texture.. We will not return.
My favorite French restaurant by far. Always love going, never disappoints. Adore Patrick, he's the best! Service is always spot on.
Loved the hangar steak. It’s noisy but fun. Great service.
Absolutely delightful evening. The food is remarkable, the service is unmatched. We had such a nice time and cannot wait to return!
Overall, everything was great at Petit Louis, as always. The only thing was our waiter initially seemed to be very anxious to get our order. We seem to often have this issue at restaurants, so we've taken it into our own hands. We order our appetizers first and then don't order the entree until the appetizers arrive. Otherwise, it seems we're on a dining treadmill -- We haven't been given the opportunity to linger over our meal and enjoyed our evening together. This seems to prevalent throughout Baltimore restaurants. Maybe other patrons are always in a rush and we're the exception. I'm just not sure. At any rate, once our waiter picked up on our cues, all went well ... just wish it was all a little more intuitive.
A real French Bistro in a building that looks like it was brought over from the old country. My only regret is not actually going to this place sooner after knowing about it for so long.
You can count on Petite Louis for a exquisitely prepared meal. Our hanger steak and grilled salmon were delivered right from the grill cooked exactly as ordered and the accompaniments were equally delightful. Make your reservations early for weekends.
My husband and I are always happy with our choices at Petit Louis. The staff is friendly and approachable. The food is always marvelous. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a respite from fast food and American fare. Petit Louis gives us an opportunity to feel as if we are in Europe, if only for a few hours.
We have lunch once a month at Petit Louis and love the food and the service. It compares very favorably with meals we have eaten in Paris both in quality as well as in value.
I've had better meals at here in prior visits. While the service is OUTSTANDING and the training of staff well evidenced, I thought the kitchen suffered and seemed belabored. Skate was very mealy. Sweetbread appetizer overdone. A very good beignet shrimp though.
Off nights happen.
Disappointed AGAIN! This is the 2nd time I’ve been disappointed with lunch. The first time the steak was too tough to eat and this time the quiche was sent back and another entree had to be selected because I couldn’t cut the crust of the quiche with a fork or a knife. What has happened? Hopefully, this fine restaurant will get back on track.
Petit Louis is a reliable and consistent venue for top notch French food. The service is impeccable. The environment is welcoming and warm. Wine aficionados will be pleased with the extensive wine list. The staff are attentive and very knowledgeable about wines and food. It is a great neighborhood restaurant and always a big hit when my out-of-town guests come to visit Baltimore.
One of my favorite places. I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. So off we went. It was Restaurant Week so the place was crowded even at 6:00 pm
Food was delicious as always and the service is great. Well trained waitstaff. We both ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. Three courses for $35.00. Food was excellent.
My only issue with this place is the noise level. It is impossible to hold a private conversation. Won’t stop me from returning, but it is annoying, particularly because the restaurant draws an old Roland Park crowd.
Restaurant week is likely the reason the evening wasn't as successful as previous meals. We did not order from the special menu. What we received was ok, though salad was smaller than the 'old' frisee (and no blue cheese). Other elements of meal were lukewarm, at best. Because of the bustle, we chose not to make a big deal. Lovely servers but food not quite hitting the typical PL mark.
Every meal exquisite, surpassed only by the service!
Excellent service, delicious food and great bar. Only negative is it’s loud.
Always amazing food and wine and service. We drive 5 hours from Pittsburgh, PA to Baltimore, MD about once a month to visit my elderly 94 year old parents. Our treat is dinner at Petit Louis Bistro. The folks at the restaurant know our situation and have been gracious hosts to us!
The food was outstanding and the service superb. We will be going back again.
Best authentic French restaurant in Baltimore. Been a favorite for years. Never a bad meal and always meets expectations.
Great experience for restaurant week. The staff is very kind and courteous. Great food and wine.
Our table was in a good spot for catching up. The severs were great. The food spectacular! A+ to Little Louie!!
I came on a very crowded Saturday night. Although we had to wait for our table, we were seated fairly quickly. The staff was very friendly and responsive. The food was outstanding.
I actually cannot wait to return to Petit Louis. We had a wonderful dining experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine. The service was swift and the appetizers/entrees were staged appropriately. And the food? It was absolutely amazing. The whole roasted chicken for two is a must (even if you are solo... leftovers will heat just fine)!
Such a great choice! The food and drink was delicious. Customer service was outstanding. The ambience was warmth and friendly. Will definitely be there again!
One of the best restaurants in Baltimore, I have never been disappointed. The food is always top tier in terms of preparation, presentation, and taste and I do not know of too many places that can match the service. We never felt rushed and never felt as if the staff were hovering over us, rather they intuitively seem to know when to attend to our needs.
Food and service were wonderful. Full restaurant meant high noise so conversations amongst ourselves was trying. Will definitely return- cannot believe we have missed dining here
Everything was delicious!!! Service was great. Will go back.
Petit Louis never fails to deliver authentic French bistro food and excellent service.
Charming old world atmosphere. Makes you feel like you are in Paris. Every waiter is an expert on the cuisine and the wine. Food is French in its best sense. Only a little noisy with tables so close to each other.
Food was good, not great. I was expecting a little bit better as I was there during restaurant week but did not order off the RW limited menu.
I wouldn't avoid dining there again, but I'm in no rush to get back any time soon.
Petit-Louis has a genuinely French "feel" to it. Service staff are pleasant, articulate, and prompt.
We had the prix fixe lunch on January 17 and found everything very good, except for the lamb entree, which was good but not up to the level of the salad, the dessert, or the wine. Keep up the good work.
