Petit Louis Bistro - Roland Park
I love Petit Louis. It always were we go for our anniversary. It’s rare that I have anything negative to say about our experience but unfortunately this might have been an off night. We started at the bar and the bartender was less then friendly. Odd . And no Patrick to give us that warm welcome. Our waiter was ok but the food was off. My halibut was over cooked and my husband’s croque monsieur was dried out too. The celebratory dessert was wonderful though! I much preferred it to the champagne that’s usually offered.
We will always return because we love it. I’m sure it was just an off night.
Fantastic experience. A must do when in Baltimore
Tillman is always our server and he is wonderful. Ask for him.
This is my favorite restaurant, offering great food, warm hospitality and an atmosphere of comfort. My go to entree is trout with haricots verre but last night I tried the special-a bronzino with beurre blanc sauce and broccoli and cauliflower. It was superb-melted in your mouth it was so tender. I wish it was offered in the daily menu. Yum!
Food was outstanding, service was perfect. Wine was great. Love it
Petite Louis is always packed. A classic French bistro with everything you’d expect but the shellfish platters.
Wines by the glass are poured at your table.
We had 3 entrees and 1 main. And dessert.
Profiteroles are ice cream in an eggy puff pastry shell
and chocolate sauce.
The dessert alone is worth the trip.
Everything we tried was delicious
Beet salad , escargot, and shrimp and pumpkin
tempura. Our main was steak frites.
Very night evening highly recommended
great food, great service...every time. Despite being very busy, this restaurant never disappoints. The customer service is great. The quality of the food is consistently great.
The food was fantastic and the wine selection was great. Loved the ambience. Busy but were seated quickly. The Lamb Frites is my new jam
The food is outstanding but the noise level is awful. Very hard to have a conversation.
When in Baltimore, I've been having dinner at Petit Louis at least once every visit. It's something I always look forward to. The food, ambiance - everything!! - always exceeds my expectations.
It's really simple:
The food was perfectly prepared;
The wine was fabulous; and
The service was outstanding.
Put this on your very short list of Baltimore restaurants.
I come here every 3-4 months, especially when I have to meet with 1-2 people. Not sure this is the place to come with a large group. The atmosphere is cozy, food excellent and the service is friendly and prompt without making you feel rushed. Desserts are great! Overall experience each time I have been here has been excellent.
My spouse and I enjoyed a lovely meal for our anniversary. Because we honeymooned in Paris we love to eat French cuisine when we celebrate. We enjoy the authentic French food, notable wine list, yummy cheeses, and desserts. On this visit we enjoyed the escargot--tender and buttery, confit de carnard--a must for one of us whenever we go, always falls of the bone and melts in your mouth, fletan rotie-- a flakey generous portion of halibut accompanies by a carrot pure and creamy bur blanc, and crem brule--a crunchy generous crust and smooth creamy custard. YUM! For our anniversary the maitre d' even brought us each a flute of Alsacien sparkling wine. A lovely ending to a wonderful meal.
During our dinner here a glass of wine was spilled by a neighboring table and some of the wine stained one of our parties clothes. The staff was incredibly attentive immediately providing soda to help with the stains, offering to pay and dry cleaning fees, and provided our table with free champagne for the experience. The staff here are professionals who care about their restaurant creating an incredible dining experience. Plus, the food is amazing.
A little loud that evening -advice a little off -great food
Classic Parisian restaurant ambiance. Attentive service. Good bar. The sommelier was very helpful, found us the right wine for both our orders and it was a very inexpensive wine. It was my wife’s birthday, and they gave here a free dessert without my asking for something.
Best to go on a day when it won’t be packed full, because it is on the noisy side.
Great food. Fantastic service.
Petit Louis Bistro was a truly wonderful experience for my husband and my date night, last Saturday night. We sat at table #23 and really enjoyed ourselves. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious! Their wine selections were amazing! We will go back again and again!
My one critique would be the noise. The volume of noise just seems to bounce around. My in laws won't come anymore because they can't follow conversations and get annoyed. Maybe replace the tin ceiling tiles with embossed wallpaper.
Our meal on 10/6/2018 was as perfect as you can get. These people know how to make even the most discerning of diners happy!
It was very noisy and crowded; a genuine french bistro.
As always, we enjoy PL. Onion Soup and Cheese Cart are our favorites.
Our server, Patrick, has always been courteous and friendly.
Terrific as always!
Consistency is the name of the game here!
Good food great service good drinks You feel welcome from the time you enter until you leave
A combination that is hard to beat!
All-in-all a nice night out. Nothing really special or traditional about the menu or cheeses but the food was good and the wine list was well-varied. The restaurant was very loud and the crowd seemed to be a mix of "known" diners and folks gathering for specific purposes - celebrations, business meetings, out-of-town guests, etc.
We spend 2x as much as we would typically spend for a nice meal out, but it was a nice change of pace for a special occasion.
Disappointed again. Quiche was good but the crust was so hard I could not cut it with a fork or even my knife. Service great.
We had a very nice experience with good food, good service and great coffee. The only thing I missed was the great small bread loaves you used to serve.
If you don't mind an energetic room, the food, service and ambiance at Petit Louis are excellent. It is the place to see the well-to-do Roland Park community enjoying themselves.
Unfortunately, the prices have risen consistently over time. A meal without alcohol is now about $80 per person. The experience if enjoyable, but the decreasing value relegates Petit Louis to special occasions rather than as a regular event.
Nice job of freshening up the accompaniments to the chicken. The peach cake was wonderful and easy to share. Keep up the good work!
Always a great experience at this superb eatery. They consistently fire on all cylinders, executing with near perfection delicious meals, world class service, and outstanding wine program. My only complaint is the exceedingly high decibel level that makes for difficult table conversation. Not withstanding we will continue to frequent this gem.
An excellent choice for French cuisine. We had wonderful wine pairing recommendations.
Another wonderful evening at PL.
Always reliable ordered frisée salad .. always great.. my husbands mussels were outstanding.. my duck confit was good but not as good as I’ve had here .. the skin could have been more crisp .. the profiteroles were incredible.,,,and of course the wine selection is as outstanding as ever ..
Always excellent. William our Sommelier was fabulous as always. Great Food, great wine, great time!
Excellent service and food.
Chose to dine here for our anniversary. The food was terrific as was the service. They are consistently excellent every time we go there. I am willing to try things here I wouldn’t normally order because I know they will be good.
Love it as always. Reliable, good food, good drinks and excellent service.
Our go to neighborhood restaurant- consistently good food.
Excellent food and excellent service. Will be back.
