Pre-theatre and after work specials are available daily. Petterino's location is ideal for business lunches as well as a break from shopping or touring in the nearby State Street and Millennium Park venues. Pre-theatre diners have the option of leaving their car with Petterino's while they attend the show and can then pick it up after the performance is completed.
I gave Petterino's a 5-star rating because of our server. Daniel. He is a gem - Petterino's needs to hang onto him. He made some awesome suggestions for dinner and also topped our dinner off with TWO pieces of chocolate mousse cake and a big bowl of ice cream for our table to share - we were celebrating our mother's 85th birthday. We let Daniel know we were seeing Hamilton after our dinner and he made sure that our plates were out in plenty of time. Everything was delicious and we had a lovely time. I signed up to receive their newsletter and received $25 off our next meal, so we will definitely be returning soon!
Good pre-theater location, food is good. It is also quite expensive for what it is.
Excellent service. Great pre-theatre dining. Overall perfection .
A favorite place to dine with dear friends. Never disappoints!
Loved everything about it!
We were at the restaurant for an hour and twenty minutes before we had a show to attend. We waited an hour to order and for our food to arrive. We had to rush our eating to make our show. The overall experience was terrible. I would not return.
Good meal. Kept waiting for table because 1 person was running late. Would have liked to be seated instead of getting bumped around waiting in the bar area..........
Excellent value and convenient location when attending the Goodman
We've been here a bunch of times and it is always great. This past weekend was horrible. We were there for 2.5 hours and they never brought our dessert. Our waiter didn't even say hi when he came up to take our drink orders (10+mins after we were seated). Definitely an off night.
Outstanding crab cake eggs Benedict!!
We enjoy eating at Petterino’s before the Sunday matinee at the Goodman Theater. It is good dining that is convenient.
This was my first time here and my friend and I loved it. Nice ambiance and the papardelle bolognese was delicious!! Will definitely come back!!
Knowing that our group was going to the theater, the staff was very attentive to get us in and out quickly. However in the haste, the maple glaze salmon special that I had and the mashed potatoes were both lukewarm. Also, for $40 I would’ve expected a larger portion. It was my Knute and I left hungry. The drinks, or delicious and well mixed and strong for the money.
Great service and atmosphere. We were all very happy with our selections, but the star of the night was probably the Peppermint Ice Cream. It was delicious and was served with a bowl of warm chocolate. We will definitely come back!
Ushering for the Goodman Theatre
Petterino's is in the heart of the theater district in Chicago, and at the cross roads of Randolf and Dearborn. So you see theater goers and people going to and from Millennium Park. I was here on a sunny day for lunch and chose to sit outside, watching the action of people enjoying a Saturday with friends and family. I had wanted to get a pre-theater dinner reservation--but obviously locals think farther ahead than I did, so I settled for a nice lunch
The reservation desk gives a warm hello, the wait-staff is punctual, knowledgeable and friendly and the menu is perfectly Italian. So what's not to like? NOTHING! The Caesar salad is exactly what you would expect from a good Italian restaurant and the Chicken Armando was motto bene--a decadent entree masquerading as a healthful pounded chicken breast with asparagus smothered in Parmesan crust and butter. It brought joy!
The wine list is relatively small, but it contains wines by the glass and bottle that are world-class, moderately priced and represent a broad range of AVAs.
Be sure to ask for both the donut holes and bread because they are both perfectly fresh and delicious.
This place was filled with baby boomers like me listening to top-10 rock favorites from the 50s and 60s while eating the type of food we love to eat, but our physicians now tell us not to. I hope to be able to go back soon.
We ordered the 3 cours3 pre fixed menu and enjoyed the rainbow trout and terriyaki salmon. Both incredibly fresh and good portion sizes. Service impeccable. Fun and elegant ambiance. Desserts were delicious. Overall, a positive experience and would return again.
Very disappointed in our experience at Petterino's. After reading the good reviews, I was looking forward trying this restaurant before a concert. Our food was awful. We split the pappardelle bolognese, asparagus risotto and parmesan crusted whitefish. The food was not very hot when delivered to our table and the risotto was already congealed. The whitefish was thickly coated with cheese and oregano and did not taste good. The bolognese was so-so at best. The waiter never even asked us if we were satisfied with our food. I got the impression they mostly serve tourists and don't really cater to those who might dine here repeatedly. Don't waste your time and money on this place.
The food is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! I always get the Petite Filet and it is always cooked to perfection! We come from Kalamazoo, Mi to enjoy this place it is that good! Service is fabulous, fast and everything about this place is classy!
My first time visiting Peterrino’s was very nice. We stumbled upon it while visiting Chicago. It was very memorable then. Two years later it was not so nice.
It wasn’t as clean as I remembered and there was several gnats that hovered around our table which was quite annoying. The floors were not clean and there was water coming through the kitchen doors . The rugs looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in months.
The wait staff were great overall but the food was cool and I just didn’t have the joy that I had the first time.
Don’t know what happened and made the change but not a good experience. I even had guests with me who had not been there before. The bill was costly compared to the substandard experience.
So I’m never returning again.
I was looking forward to enjoying the Irv Kupcinet salad. The salad was entirely different from the time I last enjoyed it. No more hearts of palm or hearts of artichoke, the reason I liked the original.
What a nice experience. The food was great, the service fantastic and the ambience comfortable and inviting.
Petterino's never disappoints. The food, the service, the people are always great.
Food was good and delivered in time for theatre start. Lively atmosphere.
I was very disappointed in the service. I sat for 7 minutes before the server stopped by. It took 10 minutes to get my drink and close to 20 minutes to get my food. Most of the tables already had food or their food was delivered shortly after I sat down. I put the blame directly on the server. It’s like I was invisible...
We were a party of 8 for lunch on Sunday We sat down and told our waiter we had a theatre show. Our reservation was at 12:15. By 1:15 we still hadn't received our food. Our waiter had barely come by to refil drinks and check on us. Finally 7 people received their food but one person's had to be re-made because the cooked the wrong thing. (They did remove this off the final bill). All in all extremely disappointing. We wont be eating there again.
What happened? We have been eating here for over 10 years and ate here 6 months ago . The best classic menu is gone replaced with a generic chain restaurant type menu. No steaks no hamburgers no classic salads. Brunch was salty soggy and just mediocre. The fabulous Bloody Mary replaced with one anyone can make with just a mix. We won’t be back for many many months. Too many other places to go. It won’t last unless it gets fixed fast!!!! Was a find now just a mediocre place
My salad was huge. I asked for a box before I ate it. The waitperson took the salad, divided it, added a container of dressing and an additional avocado half and returned it to me immediately. Service is outstanding!
The service was lacking. The waitring seemed as if he couldn't be bothered. The food came out luke warm. We've been to Petterino's many times for a pre theater dinner and hae always had a pleasant meal. This time, hopefully, was an exception.
Lovely place, great food. Perfect for a dinner before a show.
Had a nice lunch before the theater. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Food very good.
My first time to dine at Petterino’s, although others in our party had been previously. Classic Italian food done right. Our waiter, John, was on top of things and added to the experience. Definitely will return on future trips to Chicago.
It is one of my perennial favorites and it never dissapoints. Food was great, service vary adequate and the overall atmosphere is full of life and cheers.
Best restaurant to go to before a show!
The cheese ravioli, my wife said, was not as good as walmart brand. The chicken from the chicken parm, although tasted good, was over cooked and tough.
Great for before the theater dining. Valet parking. Good selection of entrees from casual to major.
Our waiter was PHENOMENAL
We've dined previously at your restaurant, this particularly time, noise level was poor....
Service excellent, wait staff good, food -all had white fish(crusted) garlic over powered,
like breadcrumb-almond mix
We enjoyed a pre-theater lunch and had an excellent waiter. He was attentive and service was good. Very disappointed with the bread basket we had and asked for a new one. Stale heels of the bread was brought, but was replaced with fresh Italian bread when asked. House salad with chicken was the perfect meal for lunch .
Food was amazing. Service great. Prompt seating. Only complaint - tables for 2 were very close together so noise level was up a bit and privacy could be an issue. We would definitely recommend Petterino's!
