Felt a bit rushed and the food was only okay. Expectations weren't met but that's because of how wonderful the location is.
Groupon purchasers beware: the Groupon description is misleading. I thought I was purchasing a certain amount of value to be applied to the menu - did not realize there is a set menu for the Groupon: choice between 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and a set dessert to be shared between 2 (=no choice). I did not find this to be good value for the very limited choices we were offered, and would not return with a Groupon. The setting was lovely but our server was inattentive (-very slow to take drink orders and bring drinks) and seemed bored/disinterested. With the pros and cons this averaged out to an ok night, but there are other restaurants with ambience that are much better value for the amount paid.
I have been Pier 7 so many times for lunch, dinner, brunch and happy hour. But this time is worst. Fish and chips was over cooked. So hard and try and salty. Servers are all young girls. They don't anything about customer service. It's a beautiful restaurant with the amazing view of the Vancouver skyline. However, I think they want to be a fancy restaurant but they're not quite there yet!?!?
Great view. Good food. Bad service 2 times now.
Consider myself a regular. Disappointing visit this time. Server provided limited and sub-standard service. Food was not of usual quality, ribs were over-cooked, short on meat, tough to eat, and I left most of it as it was not for consumption. Calamari had to be cut in to bite-size pieces with a knife, and was hard and chewy. I would have told our server, if she had ever come by and asked how the meal was going. Water glasses sat empty for most of the meal, and had to flag down a different server to get more wine.
I made a reservation 10 days before my visit. When we arrived we were put at a the worst table in the place - one of only two that did't have a waterfront view. I asked to be moved to one of the window tables I was talk they were reserved. I said that I had made my reservation over a week ago, why wasn't I given one of these tables? "I don't know, this is the only table available". Two of the tables by the window sat empty for our entire visit. I've been here 3 times and this has happened all three times.
FYI, parking is stupid expensive and the staff behave like your interrupting them. I will not return.
Open table had booked a table for five on the patio but was informed that the patio only had tabes for four and was first come first served. Even though they were fully booked the staff still found a table for us. The wait staff were excellent. The food was great.
The waitress we had was so horrible it entirely ruined any chance we had at having a good time here. We went for Thanksgiving dinner, got seated by the hostess right away but didn’t get seen by any of the wait staff until we went and flagged someone down after over 20 minutes of waiting. And it was not busy there were several open tables in our section alone and then the rest of the night we never saw our own waitress more than twice and we had to keep asking other staff for help with the things we were still missing! To top it all off this waitress had the audacity to tell my husband that he didn’t tip her enough !! She actually told him that if he didn’t tip her at least x amount of money that she was basically paying for him to eat there!!!! Like what kind of wages are these people paying their staff if they are actually telling customers that? Or was this girl just that disgusting? Idk but we surely will never go there again after this experience. Food was just ok. Not worth the terrible service
I took my niece and nephew for a Thanksgiving meal. Food and service were good. But we were seated on the patio - even though I had made a reservation - and the heaters were VERY hot - often uncomfortably so. Other than that, it was lovely.
We went for the Thanksgiving menu. I had the butternut squash soup appetizer. It was a tad salty, but everything else was cooked well. I enjoyed the roast turkey with a glass of Burrowing Owl Chardonnay.
If a customer asks for pepper on their meal, return quickly, please with the pepper mill. I waited a couple of minutes, then coffee came, then the pepper. Meanwhile my lunch was getting cold because I really do like pepper on my food and was waiting. Other than that, the service was good.
A very disappointing Thanksgiving Dinner. Service was slow (waited 10 minutes for drinks order even though it wasn’t busy), butternut squash soup was surprisingly dense, turkey roll was thick and gristly (no visible white meat), veggies were hard, mashed potatoes were too mushy; pumpkin tart and chocolate lava cake were the best part of the whole meal.
We won’t be returning to this restaurant!
Lunch with a friend on a weekday. Nice view, fairly quiet and service was good. However, would like to see more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. There are a few but not many and they are the standard - pizza, salad. No veggie burgers ! Have mentioned this before to the servers on other occasions but management doesn't seem to want to update the menu to accommodate. Tons of vegetarian and vegans out there. Earls has a whole separate menu for vegetarians/vegans. Maybe you could do something similar? LOTS of good recipes out there these days. Thank you.
Happy hour/lunch price very reasonable. Loved looking out to the harbour. Will try again for sure.
I love the food at Pier 7. In fact the food options and happy hour menu has greatly improved over the last few years since I first came here. The ambiance is nice with a great view of downtown across the water. Our server Elle was fast and friendly. A great night out for a moderate price.
Great local dining with a wonderful waterfront, view location. Nice enclosed, heated patio - good in all weather. Happy hour specials too.
Food was good but even though I used Open Table the hostess did not have our reservation ,and was not even interested in looking for it. As a result our friends were seated at a different table until we spotted them.
host was a little rude and inpatient, when we asked for changing another table beside the window, she basically yelled at me said she needed to clean that table, and she had no time to do it right now, I was taking care of 2 kids waited about 20min to get serviced.
We reserved a table for a special family occasion. There was food under the table as well as a piece of dirty cutlery. I overlooked that and hoped that the food would make up for it. The menu was typical of Whitespot and at best Earl's. It seems like the view is supposed to make up for the ordinary Sunday menu. I am sure it is better in the evening, we just couldn't arrange our schedule for dinner.
Great food and cuisine as well as prices for drinks. Awesome views along with good music and servers very professional, polite, and attentive to patron needs.
Young inexperienced server. Ordered prawns and scallops and got two scallops and three shrimp for $30. Steep!
Wife ordered boullibase and was lukewarm.
Sever added extra dessert to bill, not sure if on purpose.
Won’t be back
PIER 7 delivered not only on location, ambiance and service, the food was excellent. Our server recommended the Sable Fish and it was absolutely divine. I would go back again just to eat that dish.
Great food.Service was amasing.Lovley views.Food very plentiful.Chocolate pud was heaven.
We disappointed with the service and food. We will not be returning and not recommend it to anyone. The servers are not well trained to the point the red wine was poured directly over my wife. The server should have come around to where I was sitting and pour it there.
The food was not good
Great place to catch s bite before the fries night market!
Was there for my husband’s birthday, we had the seafood platter for 99.00 and my son had the biggest fish and chips ever.
Waitress was really friendly and on top of everything.
Easy to book via the booing AP
Quick, friendly and attentive service.
Good food in a great outdoor dining area watching the sun go down.
Great view with great value at lunch time
Was a nice restaurant and food was good..Only complaint was my friend had a burger (minus the bun as is low carb eater) and asked for mushrooms instead.
She was given mushrooms for her burger and was charged $3.00 really!!
She was disappointed. We mentioned it to the server when we got our bill and she really didn't comment..
So I assume my friend prob wont be returning..
Took my Visually impaired friend lady & she felt the ambience very good as well as the food.
Met my granddaughter at Pier 7, and we had a delightful time! Unfortunately, it was quite cloudy, so the view of downtown Vancouver was pretty well obscured, however, the food was very good!
For my experience here, there were 2 of us, and from start to finish, both the hostesses and the serving staff were friendly, accommodating, and professional! No complaints there!
However, I gave my experience an overall rating of 3 stars only because my friend and I were disappointed in our dinner main entrées: My friend's had a mere 2 small scallops (fresh?) included, but the dish is described as a shrimp and scallop entrée. Two scallops does not a shrimp-and-scallop entrée make! If a restaurant dares to do this, then, at least, ensure freshness and that the scallops are large ones.
I had the fresh salmon bowl with no changes. The meal was tasty, but the salmon was overcooked (dry). What a shame especially when serving fresh--i.e., IN SEASON-- salmon!
In the beginning, we were seated still in time to take advantage of happy hour, and we both REALLY enjoyed that! My friend had their draught beer, and I had a glass of dry rosé wine (Seven Generations, B.C., VQA). Both were great (but the wine could be served colder). The draught beer was fantastic! Spot-on cold and smoothly refreshing! We also enjoyed fish tacos and beef carpaccio as "appies". Yes! The happy hour part of our experience was terrific, and coupled with the view from our patio table directly on the water was really a treat -- THANKS, Pier 7.
I would recommend the place for happy hour or for quick bites coupled with a great beer and/or a glass of wine. The atmosphere is certainly friendly (but not over-done, thank God) and casual. So this would be a great spot for a date or a casual get-together after work especially on sultry summer nights.
For foodies...? Methinks not, based on my experience. Pier 7 needs to focus on the value for money aspect of their dishes. Patrons shouldn't be feeling short changed.
I'm sorry that I didn't think to take photos as, I'm sure, they would have illustrated my experience far more clearly.
The space, the food, the service were all amazing. I have one suggestion: better lighting on the patio! We had to use cellphone flashlights to read the menu and couldn’t really see the beautifully prepared dishes that arrived at our table. Even something as small as a candle would have helped.
Loved the lobster Cobb salad, the view, the ambience and the great service! Thanks Pier 7!
Be aware that Pier 7 does not honour a reservation for an outdoor table, even though the Open Table app gives you that option when you place your reservation. We'd made a reservation at Pier 7 through Open Table, for my wife's birthday lunch. Our reservation specified an outdoor table, and this was reiterated in the comments sections by me when I made the booking. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told that the outdoor tables were only given on a first come first served basis, regardless of the reservation. My wife had to take the issue up with the manager, and only after a lengthy conversation were we moved outside. The fact that we had to dispute with the restaurant to have our reservation honoured left a bad taste from what was to have been a celebratory lunch.
The food was fine, but nothing memorable. The downgrading of the service rating pertains more to the management level than to the wait staff.
Great if you like seafood. I had the fish and chips, and the fish seemed undercooked and almost soggy. When i reserved, i was asked if it was a special occasion. I specified the reservation was for a birthday, but im not sure why i was asked because it wasnt even mentioned by the waitress or hostess, even though the gifts we brought were in plain view. I probably wouldn't go back, but my husband loved his steak and shrimp cocktail.
Great location, delicious food, and awesome service! :)
Incredible summer seafood tower lovely & fresh. Plenty of food for four after Happy Hour appies
Go for the view, not the food or service. Portions are ridiculously small and expensive. High end prices for diner like food. Server disappeared at the end of our meal after we asked for the bill so we waited and waited for her to return but she did not.
I had a great experience, I took my friend there again 2 days later
