We love this restaurant and visit often for one favorite dish - the Haida Gwai halibut. The last 2 visits have been disappointing as they have changed the recipe. The last visit, the dish had changed to include arugula (it states kale on the menu) and an almondine sauce which was flavorless. The fish tasted and looked like cod, not halibut. Very disappointing. The service however was excellent as usual.
Excellent place to go with friends or family to enjoy great food.
My favorite dish is the Haida Gwai halibut, however the latest offering of this menu item had an addition of arugula salad. Not enjoyable. If I order this again, I would ask them to hold the arugula...otherwise, we had a good meal and enjoy this restaurant very much.
Beautiful day to eat on the patio
of this lovely local restaurant. Our tuna poke bowls were delicious and our server was great without being too cloying. Overall a great waterfront spot on the North Shore
Amazing as always
Mussel Monday 😃
Best Caesar salad 🥗
Many gluten free options for my guest!
I made reservations for a friend's birthday dinner who has never been to Pier7. I mentioned in on line form in my note thst it was Milena's birthday, asking for a table by the window and expecting a little something (like a piece of birthday cake or similar for Milena) I phoned to reservations a week before to explain and ask them for a special consideration for this occasion. On the day , Sat 16th of November, we arrived to all window tables were taken. Hostess tried to tell me that there was no requests specifically for a window table... after a quick talk, she changed the story that nothing can be guaranteed, it is first come first serve basis. So my conclusion is - don't ever go to Pier7 for any special occasions. We ended up by the window in the tent heated patio. Much more casual with little kids etc and no table cloth. No special attention to our birthday guest. Very mediocre service. Good location. Great views. Okay food. Please, step up your services, Pier7. Otherwise, you are nothing but yet another overpriced chain eatery.
My friends were visiting from Germany and it was a birthday celebration. We were sat outside with a beautiful window seat. The food was excellent and the service was prompt and pleasant. I definitely recommend this restaurant! One recommendation is the heat could be better circulated, sitting directly under the heaters was uncomfortable.
This is always a good place for us to bring visitors to the North Shore. The view is fabulous. The service was good. The lunch menu is okay for the price but, yes, we will be back.
Great happy hour menu. Beautiful view. Busy for a Sunday night.
They had live music on the Saturday evening. It was so loud my wife and I could not even have a basic conversation. My halibut dish was good but my wife’s Caesar Salad with prawns was nothing to right home about - below average.
I had a double spicy Caesar drink before dinner and it certainly was not a double, barely a single.
Overall, waste of our time and money even though I did think my meal was OK.
It was my husband’s 50th birthday and all I wanted was to have a seat with a view. There was plenty of tables with just that, but it was painful to get one of those tables. Several servers took us to multiple tables. One took us as far away from the window as they could which felt like be bullied. When I said why can’t we sit at the open table be the window they said just a minute an another woman came over and took us out side. The heaters where so hot 🥵 that I couldn’t breath. Then we where finally taken to a table by the window with a post in the way of the view. Thank goodness the food was delicious 😋 because the hostess and service staff where horrible. Several other couples went through the same hassle I noticed as we where eating. The window seats with the view should never be the section you close if you are closing areas . We won’t go back after the way we were treated and on such a special day. I ever called several times to request a nice table so I would have to go through this frustrations. Too bad the mussels were to die for. Please compliment your kitchen staff.
Drinks were ordered first but came out after the main meal was served. The restaurant was not busy but the server did not come back to check up on us at all nor did we get our water refilled throughout the night. Food came out and tasted great, was supposed to return the following day for breakfast but due to the quality of service, we opted to go to a different restaurant.
Nice spot, food was very good, unfortunately the service was pretty poor for being there at a quiet time.
I never generally complain or complete these forms, but in this instance i will be honest, there were some shortfalls. i think you were understaffed. We had a 7:15 reservation and waited until about 7:30-7:40 for the table to get ready (which may have been because my daughter requested a window seat, so this may have been why. The the tuxedo clad musicians with the cellos in the bar blocked the view of the reception desk, so though my daughter got the wheels in motion re our table when she arrived at 7:15, there was no one manning this booth thereafter. The server was very lovely VERY LOVELY, so excellent there. The Boil was frankly a disappointment. I liked the potatoes, sauce and chorizo, but the prawns and mussels had little flavour. I was happy to be eating The Boil simply because i had a craving for seafood but it was certainly not worth $30 for my portion. The immediate noise levels were no trouble, but the din of the people in the bar was heard but it by no means bothered us. I stupidly failed to order Pier 7 Caesar (which i was expecting and thus explains why i didn't have a prawn in my drink), but had the server said "regular or Pier 7 caesar?" i would have ordered the larger drink. This didn't happen. Ummm...i had great company, and we had a lovely window seat, but i fear in my mind Pier 7 is associated as one of those restaurants with a killer view but mediocre food. The Tsatsiki on the calamari was awesome!!! I found the calamari side was a smidge small. I was surprised by the size of this plate as well as the small calamari pieces, but i am accustomed to big fluffy calamari like one finds at Mythos. I had a great evening with my daughter and her boyfriend, but his 1/2 rack of ribs looked wanting. Lastly, I quickly toured the corporate room upstairs as we own a NV business with 25 employees, but i don't expect to be booking the room as sadly the food wasn't what i was expecting. All this being said, the server was very lovely.
Saturday night - October 26. reservation made for 9pm for 3 , service was slow, we ordered 3 drinks and 3 shareables. Ordered truffle fries and a second round of drinks after the 3 shareables - server apologized that fries were taking long - didn’t bring drinks as well. 20 min later- Still didn’t get the fries, she said they would take care of the fries and not add those to our bill. By the time this all happened they said their food orders are closed - nobody even came to give a heads up that it was last call for food or ask anything. At the end we left, server apologized we couldn’t order food and didn’t get the fries - didn’t even discount the bill or offer anything else to make it better. I’ve been here before and there service is great- but that night’s experience was not good!!
Our main dishes came out before the appetizer. The waitress couldn't remember that we had ordered an appetizer. The Crab Cobb salad was unimpressive. No dressing or vinaigrette provided, waitress stated it doesnt come with any, and the blue cheese was a dollar extra, on top of the $25 the salad cost. The pot of mussels were very good, however, and chock full of mussels. View of the Vancouver skyline helped to assuage our disappointment of a fairly unimpressive meal.
The service and ambience are great. The fish and chips could have been a bigger portion for the price. The batter overwhelmed the fish. Chips and coleslaw were good though.
Parking reimbursement was a great feature.
Beautiful restaurant with a stunning view. The food and wine were delicious and the atmosphere quiet and enjoyable. The waitress was very kind and attentive.
We had a wonderful date night (married 26 years) at Pier 7. Calamari, Pan Seared Halibut and Seafood Boulliabaise were fantastic. Service, city view and wine were outstanding and the Value for our experience was great. Eager to return with friends from out of town and our kids.
Delicious brunch and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
First time visiting this restaurant and in a great location and they did give us a window seat as we had our friend from out to town who was treating us to the dinner. I don't think we would go again a fri night, I actually asked the server which are the quieter nights, it's way too busy and so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation. When you are with some people who are older and have some hearing difficulty it was very unfcomfotable. Go on a tue or mon night which is when the server suggested you come. The food was good and presentable and tasty. Other than the unbelief noise level all was good.
Pick pier7 for lunch or dinner. Based on our experience you won't be disappointed.
The heated deck was awesome and a great place for food and drinks. Amazing views of Vancouver and the shipyards.
Was an overall great evening for my husband and I 👍🏽 At first, I was extremely annoyed by the loud group sitting near us as they had no consideration for people around them! We wanted a nice dinner for two when we can relax and enjoy some conversation without our kids and we couldn’t hear each other over that bunch👎🏽 The food was super tasty, small tiny little oysters n mussels but still tasty👌🏽 We fully enjoyed the night after noisy’s left and we got full on the small but perfect portions if tasty treats🙏🏽 For a full house, the server was very on the ball!
One of the worse dining experience we have had. Half empty restaurant yet extremely poor service. The Maître D ignored the waiting guests at the entrance, service was very poor (ie we didn’t even get our glasses of water at the end of dinner despite us asking multiple times and to multiple wait staff). Half our table was served and the other half waited 45 mins for our dishes. The steak was not seasoned and the fries were double salted (ie inedible). Even getting our bill took 15 mins! Avoid at all cost!!!!
Great view, regular food, friendly service. Should not be missed, more for the view than for the food, though.
Love the ambience of this restaurant.Would like a broader menu. They used to have great calamari and
have changed it to the WORST calamari i have eaten.Avoid calamari.
The atmosphere and view are great however the food was just average.
Food and atmosphere were good and the happy hour pricing for appies was good. Only issue was that they accept late registrations but then we felt rushed. We sat down for our 9pm registration and the restaurant closes at 10:30, almost immediately we were told it was last call for drinks and food. This was a special birthday dinner, we tried to order cake/dessert and we were denied. The server seemed in a rush to get out of there and she was not very attentive, kept leaving for long periods of time and did not even bring us napkins or cutlery until we asked. Was overall disappointed with the experience. Perhaps it was the time of day but we were unable to go any earlier and a restaurant should not accept late reservations if they do not provide full service at that hour.
Excellent food, service great. Good value and you cannot beat the view. Our favourite restaurant.
I always enjoy Pier 7 for casual brunch, lunch or appetizers with friends. The view is wonderful from inside or out on the covered patio. I could wish the upstairs areas were open more often.
Good value at lunch time. Varied menu and friendly servers.
Great views and fun location. Food was fair and expensive for what it was.
Our server Justine was lovely, spoke french which my guest taking for lunch also. So she enjoyed
Can't beat the location. Service was good. Large croutons okay for a man but too big for a lady and were stale. Yam fries too salty. Kitchen needs some quality control.
I was there with family celebrating 50th birthday. We requested a table with water view and had informed the restaurant prior to, about the birthday. When we got there, we had an inside table, our server did not know we were there for a birthday, a napkin on our table was dirty with raw food, and our calamari was dry and cold. This is the second time I had a similar experience with Pier 7, which is unfortunate because I think the restaurant has potential to perform at a better scale.
The ambiance was nice and our server was lovely but this experience again makes me think for the third time about whether to return or not.
My wife and I went to Pier 7 to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had been there a couple times a few years ago but had terrible experiences. However, the location and views inspired us to try again hoping it would have changed. Unfortunately it had NOT changed and maybe had become even worse.
They continue to under utilize their upper level saying its reserved for private events and parties which is a shame. When I was in the restaurant business the goal was to fill the facility as much as possible and book special events and parties in wherever and whenever. The public needs to experience the whole restaurant and its best tables which exceptional food and service to even be interested in booking an event there. Every time we go there it has not been full or tables were empty and they weren't properly staffed to use the empty tables.
The main room the tables and chairs and decor did not match the building, views and location. It looked like we were in a tired old cafeteria.
Our evening began with a nice server but we could instantly tell she cared more about her looks than her service and knowledge of the menu. Our appys arrived before our first cocktail and the table was not set, no cutlery, napkins, water, nothing. 2 of the six "fresh" oysters we had were quite different with a less than fresh smell and very creamy texture, much more than the others to the point we were concerned for our health. When we told our server and she sent the manager who essentially argued with us that they were normal. Especially since 4 of the 6 were relatively decent and much different than the other two despite all being the same varietal. The $35 entrees were a disgrace with terrible presentation, poor quality, and not worth even half what we were charged. The wine was from a tap and came out fizzy and cloudy?? Very disappointing. This place needs new management /owner to take it to its 5 star potential!
Food was cold. Not fresh and just generally awful. Will not eat here again.
Beautiful View.. very nice apologetic server! Those are the only good things I can say. I will not be back.
We went for a special occasion and what a disappointment. The appetizers came and they were average and then we waited over an hour for the next course. We asked several times when the mains were coming. The server was very apologetic but seemed liked she was not surprised and had heard several complaints before. The Vegan Tacos had a smear of green guacamole spread on top of each one. It looked like processed guacamole. They were a watery mess.
The Manager discounted our bill by 50% which was nice but I would have rather paid full price and had a wonderful evening out.
I will not be returning and I would not recommend this restaurant. I don't take any pleasure in writing bad reviews.
We had a very nice brunch and enjoyed the surroundings and the view. We had an excellent server but unfortunately I didn't get her name. I hope you will know who it might be. We sat inside by the window second table going east. Our server was quite tall and very pretty. The only complaint I have is we waited quite awhile for our meals and when they came they weren't very warm. We live in the neighbourhood and visit your restaurant regularly so it was a bit disappointing.
