We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

Every time we dine here, hubby & I leave with a to-go box as their portions are abundant. The food & cocktails are always consistently delicious. Our server, Lena, was so friendly and walked us through menu selections based on our preferences (she was spot on with her recommendations). Next time we’re in ATL, we’ll be sure to visit.

“Zubear” was our waiter. He was friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and super caring. He was not pushy and very attentive, we couldn’t have had a better night! The food was great and extremely flavorful, it is a nice spot but cramped, if this place was in a better location, centric decor and venue it would drive so much more revenue and elevate the Asian fusion cuisine. Didn’t get a chance to meet Calvin but next time for sure! Excellent job everyone, we had an awesome experience.

I celebrated my birthday with my boyfriend. Our server was excellent! The food was amazing. The ambience was romantic and aesthetically pleasing. I had the seafood curry my boo had the lobster fried rice. He was still talking about his food the next day it was so good. We shared the toasted pound cake which was utterly delicious!

We came to celebrate getting married the previous day. We have been many times before and it’s my favorite restaurant. The only downside was the manager was a little rude. He stopped at every table around us and asked how their service was and what they were celebrating, literally every table in our section. When he passed our table he would avoid eye contact and just move on to the table behind , infront, and beside us. I tried not to take it personally but it was definitely a disheartening since we love this place and we’re celebrating such a special moment. Probably wouldn’t have cared if he did not make it a point to ignore us. Our waitress however was super sweet and informative, the food was phenomenal as usual.

We were some of the first patrons when Poor Calvin’s opened back in 2008-2009? It was excellent then and continues to be!! Although we no longer live in Atlanta we always enjoy going to Poor Calvin’s when we are in town. It never disappoints and continues to amaze!

Cute little place. I probably would have liked it more on a non peak night. Because how close all the tables were it was very loud and I could barely hear the waitress or people at my table. Food was great, service was awesome

Without a doubt one of the best restaraunts we’ve been to in any city. Unique menu, outstanding food, great ambiance! Some of the best food ever - don’t miss the lobster crawfish wontons!

Excellent!!! There are so many reasons to dine here. Feeling safe while parking to being greeted by a very friendly hostess to having the best waiter (Zoo Bear sp). The seafood egg rolls and lobster wontons were so delicious. And the kale salad - wow! For the entree I chose the special which was curry oxtails and shrimp.Talk about tender and falling off the bone. All items were shareable. Great service, food and drinks - worth every penny!!
