Promenade Cafe and Wine
French comfort food and local ingredients is the basis ever-changing seasonal menus. Our restaurant menu focuses on Winnipeg's local and French community in our restaurant menu.
The inspiration for the dishes range from local ingredients, tradition of the Francophone French Community of Winnipeg and comfort food preparations.
We are dedicated to utilizing local and regional products wherever possible in our dishes. The is nothing premade in our Winnipeg restaurant including all of our scratch made desserts. You will certainly see this reflected in the freshness and quality of our French cuisine.

It's always a great experience, but this time it was exceptional, which is good; I brought someone who has just moved back to Winnipeg and had never been to the restaurant before.
What a great place to highlight fantastic food, view and ambiance to a small group from across western Canada. Our waitress was knowledgeable, the food was plentiful and very tasty, and the French roast coffee was spectacular! All were impressed that I knew about this local gem.
Atmosphere was relaxed. Not overly busy for a Sunday afternoon. Breakfast was only served till noon so had to order from Lunch menu. Service was friendly and efficient. My house salad was fresh and the strawberry vinaigrette was delicious. My quiche was alright although the portion size could have been larger. Our server explained that the clubhouse on rye would have only two slices of bread instead of the usual three because of the irregular shaped slices. I don’t understand the logic behind this and it was a bit messy to eat as the filling slid around and fell out as a result. I’d recommend ordering multigrain when ordering the clubhouse. Fries were seasoned nicely, not overly salted.
Great breakfast! Love the jam!
The bison burger was extremely dry and too salty.
Our waitress was great and friendly.
Ambience is pleasant.
The food was good however I made a reservation for 5 people a week in advance and I was being seated at a table for 4 and they wanted to put a chair at end and make it crowded. When I said I made a reservation for 5 the waitress just looked at me and said they were busy! I was not happy and said I made my reservation a week ago and they then pulled another table over. The service was not the prompt...we had to ask when I order was going to be taken and a few issues with one persons meal. Also when I walked in there were 3 waitresses behind the very tall counter and kept asking me what I said cause the counter was blocking. It would be nice if they came around the counter and greeted you at the door instead of asking more then a couple times what you were saying
The atmosphere was nice. The food was very good. Excellent missed only because my partner’s pork was a little over cooked. Our dining experience was special as two from our group, both visiting from MTL QC, were able to be part of the French quarter experience of Wpg. They were very impressed with the ability & ease with which they could converse with the restaurant personnel in French & loved the food, in particular the (Manitoban) bison burger & « les moules »!
I absolutely LOVED dining here! Everything about the food was delicious! I can't wait to come back to try more of menu items!
Dinner with family from Massachusetts! Service was terrible and the food was salty! A MUST NOT TRY!
Brunch was fantastic! Great selection, loved the Mediterranean eggs!! Such a nice touch to have Cramptons jam on the brunch menu! Love the decor also, definitely will go back for brunch!
Although everything I've had at Promenade has been fantastic, several of us had the Coq au Vin and were a little disappointed. It wasn't quite up to par.
Food was delicious, most notably was Gary our server, knowledgeable, very friendly , funny , made up a cocktail not on the menu was delicious , service impeccable!
Great location, food and service. Delicious food at every meal whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Server was patient with us despite our lack of knowledge of wines. View of museum and esplanade great. Limited by the weather.
The food was exceptional ! Cannot wait to go back to try other things on the menu.
Making reservations online was really easy and I loved having that option. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. The food was delicious, my only complaint is that you barely got anything on your plate for the price you pay. I could have gone to The Keg and paid the same amount but getting much more with my meal (and same quality taste). I would and probably will go again.
Best place for regular dining with an amazing view
We had some family in from Alberta and visited the Cafe for Sunday breakfast. I booked a reservation on OpenTable and our tables were ready when we got there. Our server was professional and very friendly. Our meals were all served together and everyone enjoyed what they had ordered. A wonderful dining experience.
Absolutely enjoyed ourselves. Awesome meals. Our waiter was quite the comedian and very personable. Excellent service!!
Food was cooked, but no real flavor added. Brussel sprout was a cooked brussel sprout...carrot was a soft cooked carrot. It was bland. Cooked right...just needs seasoning and flavors.
Fantastic Smoked Trout Eggs Benedict. Cooked perfectly with a lovely runny yolk, go to this place just for that. Latte was a bit thin, service is good, I would like to try it for dinner on my next visit to The Peg. This place is a hidden gem.
Fantastic breakfast. Had the eggs sausage and potato. Have been there for dinner in the past, also great experience. Eat here each time thru Winnipeg.
Great place to have a delicious breakfast. The food is outstanding. The service is top notch. Beautiful quiet little place by the river.
The lamb shank is superbly prepared and the waitress is very considerate when I mentioned not very into the Blue cheese. The waitress consulted with the cook and offered goat cheese instead, very good combination. Soup of the day is loaded bacon potato soup. Well worth CAD $40. Unfortunately, didn’t realize that no bread/baguette before the main course served with the soup.
Lovely meal. Well made, traditional food. We had a nice quiet table by ourselves. Nice variety on the menu.
Mussels were great! Seafood Gnocchi was amazing with fresh seafood and dill. Lamb shank was also good but I would choose the Gnocchi over it.
The food is always excellent here. The desserts are not to be missed!
Unfortunate that it closes so early on Friday night.
Very disappointed. We dined with an abundance of flies buzzing around our table. The interior of the restaurante has not been taken care of, with dirty walls and plaster broken off the wall.
I couldn't wait to get out of there as I felt like the restaurant was very dirty.
Great variety on the menu. Everything was so fresh
Awesome, would come back
One of our meals ( tourtierre) was inedible. Mgmt agreed and took it off the bill. Two other strikes were that we ordered a ricard but were given a Pernod ( they are different) and it wasn’t served correctly ( with no short glass and ice water.) Also had to pay for a baguette that isn’t sourced locally. It comes from Quebec but is baked fresh. Would rather had bread from Winnipeg. Staff and ambience were good though so I can’t trash them
We really enjoyed our dinner! Excellent menu.., very pleased. Our waitress was excellent, awesome service.
As usual Promenade did not disappoint. I had friends in from out of town and they thoroughly enjoyed the meal, ambiance and excellent service we received. They were visiting from a fairly large Ontario city and were swept away by the quality of Winnipeg dining, especially Promenade, which was their favourite. I have been many times and each time has been a consistently excellent quality and quantity of food. The Bison Tourtiere is magnificent and one of my favourites, don't miss it.
We really enjoyed our evening. It was a special birthday for a friend. The food was delicious and lots to choose from. The service was exceptional. Unfortunately, the street they are located on is under construction, but getting there is doable and worth it.
I ordered a house salad and mussels. The mussels were excellent but the salad had no
taste of the strawberry vinagrette at all...only ate 1/3 of it. Suggest that you use a different
or more significant tasting dressing on this dish. Waited quite a while for the bill and finally went to the front to pay as we were in a hurry to get to the Museum on time.
Always excellent and such lovely place.
Every time we are in winnipeg we have a great meal
see you next time 🥂
Beautiful neighbourhood location with reasonably priced menu and interesting wine list. Very understanding staff when our party showed up late after my graduation ceremony went longer than anticipated!
We had an early dinner to celebrate my brother’s upcoming move to the west coast. The food was without exception, delicious and the service was expert, attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend this restaurant .
Our experience was frustrating. We had a 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. After being seated, we were immediately asked our drink order. We asked for a couple minutes to look at the wine menu. It took 20 minutes for the server to return. She took my wife’s order, and then walked away without taking mine. At no point in the rest of the meal was I ever offered or asked for a drink order and was left drinking water. We were asked for our food order after having been there for 45 minutes. We ordered the pate appetizer. My wife ordered the coq au vin, I ordered the seafood gnocchi and french onion soup. It took another 30 minutes to get the appetizer and we were only given a half order and the baguettes were not included. When we asked for the baguettes the server made a big production that we should already have them and when being convinced we were given 4 small slices.
I was never given my soup.
Our food on the other hand was delicious. I would return for the food however I hope the staff is trained on how to manage tables and basic serving etiquette. We saw other tables being treated excellently so I feel like we just got a bad server or she was having an off day today.
I’ll try the restaurant again as the food was fabulous.
