Promenade Cafe and Wine
French comfort food and local ingredients is the basis ever-changing seasonal menus. Our restaurant menu focuses on Winnipeg's local and French community in our restaurant menu.
The inspiration for the dishes range from local ingredients, tradition of the Francophone French Community of Winnipeg and comfort food preparations.
We are dedicated to utilizing local and regional products wherever possible in our dishes. The is nothing premade in our Winnipeg restaurant including all of our scratch made desserts. You will certainly see this reflected in the freshness and quality of our French cuisine.
Been many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will not be disappointed. Make reservations on the weekend though!
We went for my birthday dinner. We picked Promenade Cafe based on reviews. Food was great, our server was very friendly, overall a great experience for us.
I made a reservation well in advance and yet they wanted to seat us at a table in the entryway dining area. I have eaten in your restaurant many times and have usually been treated very well.
When I reserve early I always have had a table in the larger dining room by the window. There were several such tables available when I arrived but the waiting staff did not seem to want to seat us there. They were not very friendly.
I was disappointed and embarrassed that my friend had to be treated like that.
We had our annual New Year's eve dinner at the Promenade and it was an outstanding meal. The service is wonderful, friendly and efficient, the ambience is lovely and we were able to talk to each other because the sound level from other dinners is low. Overall it was one of the best dining experiences I have had the pleasure of enjoying.
My daughters and I took my husband to Promenade Cafe for his 52nd birthday. The ambience at night is so beautiful with the CMHR, Esplanade Bridge and City skyline across the river. It's cozy and comfortable. You can dress up or go casual. The service is great. The food is fresh and delicious. I often go there for coffee or lunch meetings for work, but it has a totally different feel in the evening - so warm & romantic. We had a wonderful meal and time together. I highly recommend it any time of day!
Our favourites: Sautéed shrimp, garlic, shallots and peppers served with crostini and sweet potato chips; Moules-frites Prince Edward Island Mussels of the day topped with matchstick potatoes; Salade maison/House salad with red onion, tomato, bell pepper, sunflower seeds and strawberry vinaigrette; Broiled Trout with Lemon Caper, and the Confit de canard Duck leg with a berry gastrique.
Mmm. I'm getting hungry again....
Very much enjoyed our meal. Our server Emily was excellent again this year. Such a pleasant and caring server.
Will definitely be back next year!
Not very family friendly 1/ there wasn't any changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my baby on the floor. 2/ the high chair had a missing buckle so I could not strap my baby in. Fortunately she is old enough to be ok without it.
It’s one of our favourite restaurants and we go there often!
Family Christmas brunch. Took about 15 minutes before successfully flagging down server to take our order. Food was excellent including: tourtiere, poutine, crepes & French onion soup. After the delay, our service was quite good. Disappointed they ran out of sugar pie.
We love it here! Our favourite brunch place. Excellent Crepes Norwegian, Breakfast Sandwich and cheesy eggs & toast. Very good service.
The food was well prepared. Very good flavours. Nice atmosphere. Our waitress was pleasant and very informative about the menu and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will be going back again.
Very squished seating. It’s a good thing I’m a small person.
Made reservations because I rightly assumed it would be busy for Sunday brunch, and I was right. My dining partner had the smoked meat hash, which he enjoyed, and I had the eggs benedict, which was among the best I have ever eaten. The service was exceptional and the price about what you’d expect. Highly recommend - This will become my new go-to. Fantastic!
Great experience overall with really good service. Great team and the food was delicious!
Celebrating my friends birthday. We had a great time. The atmosphere was cozy, the food was delicious and service excellent.
I ordered a clubhouse sandwich & my friend ordered a reuben. It was grosss. The bread was soggy and greasy. Ill never come again.
Food is perfect as usual. Genevieve, our server is the best in Winnipeg.
Emily our server is fantastic! She always follows-up with our needs and is present to assist us in a timely manner.
I booked a reservation for 2, then we changed to 3 after we got there, waitress found another chair for us, but it was still not much space even for 2. I ordered 100miles, but personally I don’t like the sweet potato purée, it tastes way too sweet. Afterall, it’s a good restaurant and I had a great time there. Thank you
I arrived on time for my reservation. From the entrance I could see 3 tables for 2 empty. I was seated at the vacant table right beside the front door, kitchen and cashier counter. I asked if I could have a different empty table. I was told no they were reserved. I asked why, since I was there before other guests, I could not trade for the another table. I was again told they were reserved. From that point on I was ignored. My friend arrived, we ordered and we’re served. We waited 20 min to order coffee and dessert after finishing our lunch. I tried twice to get our waitresses attention to lower a blind that was making me very uncomfortable due to the change in position of the sun. She would not give me eye contact. Although my food was good I will not return.
The food was amazing. However the temperature in restaurant was very cool. I would keep taking my coat off and on as the temperature would seem to warm up then drop drastically. Also a 6 oz glass of wine was to expensive at $15 a glass.
food is excellent, and love the restaurant. nice patio in the summer with views of the downtown.
Only peeve, is the wine is OVERPRICED. 283% markup is ridiculous. entrees priced ok, why the huge markup on wine. not necessary.
I love coming to the promenade. Always amazing service. Our server was a ray of sunshine. Love being able to use open table. Thank you so much as always for. Lovely experience.
I love The Promenade restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. Our server was very helpful about our food choices. She was especially helpful when I asked her about a beer selection. She told me the beer was very tasty and she was correct.
Our server was amazing. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name. Eggs Benedict was fantastic as usual. We love visiting promenade for brunch!
What a great spot for our family breakfast. The food, service, and setting were top notch. We're already planning our next visit. Thank you for making our morning so enjoyable.
Everything was good, food, menu choices and service.
It was very cold in the dining room. The heat was turned up and it was much more comfortable not wearing your coat over your shoulders.
Awesome service and food.
Delicious eggs Benedict.
The handicapped parking non-existent. The service was cheerful and quick and the creamed chicken soup was very hearty.
Food and service were very very good. We were somewhat disappointed as we had commented when making our reservation that it was our 30th anniversary and requested quiet table We did not get a quiet table and our anniversary was not mentioned. Other than that was very good
Both the Grilled trout and the tortiere were fantastic. Service was phenomenal. Prices are great considering I would rate this well above average.
This is a very nice restaurant, the food is all local. They should have a short kids menu. I would recommend it.
Je voudrais remercier Shannon pour le service exceptionnel.
La cuisine était très bon et l’ambiance était amical et tranquil.
The place is lovely and the menu is good. The boeuf bourguignon was very tasty and tender. However there were a few pieces that were very fatty and I could not eat them. My cappuccino was a bit bitter. The honey and lavender crème brûlée was delicious. Service was excellent It is a bit pricy though.
Very enjoyable dining experience. Have been to Promenade many times before and will continue to frequent this establishment.
All four dishes came out warm ... not hot . Asked for a side plate twice... never got one Either they need more staff on a Sunday to serve people...... didn’t even comp one of the coffees that was separate ... really not impressed .
Did not really enjoy our table as we felt there was a lot of traffic back and forth but everything else was excellent.
This was our second visit to Promenade and once again it did not disappoint! Great food, great wine feature, fabulous dessert, and excellent service! Looking forward to our next visit!
We had a table if 10 for 10 a.m.. Great choice, quiet for talking at this time. Good service, not rushed. Some of the breakfast food was a little slow to be delivered and had cooled. Overall, still very good.
