Promenade Cafe and Wine
French comfort food and local ingredients is the basis ever-changing seasonal menus. Our restaurant menu focuses on Winnipeg's local and French community in our restaurant menu.
The inspiration for the dishes range from local ingredients, tradition of the Francophone French Community of Winnipeg and comfort food preparations.
We are dedicated to utilizing local and regional products wherever possible in our dishes. The is nothing premade in our Winnipeg restaurant including all of our scratch made desserts. You will certainly see this reflected in the freshness and quality of our French cuisine.

Delicious eggs Benedict.
The handicapped parking non-existent. The service was cheerful and quick and the creamed chicken soup was very hearty.
Food and service were very very good. We were somewhat disappointed as we had commented when making our reservation that it was our 30th anniversary and requested quiet table We did not get a quiet table and our anniversary was not mentioned. Other than that was very good
Both the Grilled trout and the tortiere were fantastic. Service was phenomenal. Prices are great considering I would rate this well above average.
This is a very nice restaurant, the food is all local. They should have a short kids menu. I would recommend it.
Je voudrais remercier Shannon pour le service exceptionnel.
La cuisine était très bon et l’ambiance était amical et tranquil.
The place is lovely and the menu is good. The boeuf bourguignon was very tasty and tender. However there were a few pieces that were very fatty and I could not eat them. My cappuccino was a bit bitter. The honey and lavender crème brûlée was delicious. Service was excellent It is a bit pricy though.
Very enjoyable dining experience. Have been to Promenade many times before and will continue to frequent this establishment.
All four dishes came out warm ... not hot . Asked for a side plate twice... never got one Either they need more staff on a Sunday to serve people...... didn’t even comp one of the coffees that was separate ... really not impressed .
Did not really enjoy our table as we felt there was a lot of traffic back and forth but everything else was excellent.
This was our second visit to Promenade and once again it did not disappoint! Great food, great wine feature, fabulous dessert, and excellent service! Looking forward to our next visit!
We had a table if 10 for 10 a.m.. Great choice, quiet for talking at this time. Good service, not rushed. Some of the breakfast food was a little slow to be delivered and had cooled. Overall, still very good.
Always enjoy visiting the Promenade whether it's a twosome or many people for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.
Had booked this restaurant for our 25th anniversary by mistake. Thought it was on the Esplanade Riel bridge but is on the corner of Tache and Provencher with a VIEW of the bridge. Nevertheless the service was excellent—very friendly and approachable server. Hubby loved the Boeuf Bourguignon. The Coq au vin was made with a white wine sauce which the server let us know beforehand which was appreciated. The Coq au vin was okay but nothing special. Excellent French onion soup and Caesar salad as well as the mushroom salad. Was a nice quiet atmosphere when we were there at 6 pm on a Tuesday.
Love, love, love the Promenade! Great place for a special occasion or romantic night with the rustic interior and beautiful view of the Riel bridge. The staff are always lovely and the food is always fantastic. Awesome wine menu!
I went for supper with my dad qnd I wish I had gone with my boyfriend instead because the hambient is very romantic. I loved the food. Everything we ordered was excellent. Only downside, they did nit have any craft beer but I think that's just because the wine is a much better vhoice with their food.
Food was delicious, and service was outstanding...recommending to my friends and collegues
Great French casual cusine. Staff also very polite. Will come back to try more soups
My second experience where the food was good but the service was poor. This time my ‘reservation’ was held hostage by diners who did not wish to leave. Never mind that there were empty tables available. Then our waitress was delayed taking our order.
Good thing there are great restaurants in the city with much better service from which to chose.
Had a reservation for a large group following a charity walk. Restaurant was very full and it was a bit of a wait for beverages & food. The wait was the only issue we had. The server was helpful and pleasant. The food was amazing. 10/10 would return & recommend to others.
Our breakfast was not hot, temperature wise. The eggs were cold on all 3 plates.
Love this place! Great Ambiance and good food. It’s got a great vibe and you can dress up or down.
We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed in the food or service.
The food was very good and meals were excellent. Service was above and beyond! I will definitely recommend this resto pour la meilleure cuisine française!
The vegetarian gnocchi was outstanding; so very flavourful! Our server was very good for our group of 7. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because a) they charge for the baguette even though the meals are a little on the pricier side for dinner; and b) they don't put "house wine" on the wine list, so I ended up having to pay $11 for a 6 oz pour of an "okay" white wine, while later I heard someone ask for the house wine and the server told me that they don't put that on the wine list. Otherwise though, very enjoyable meal.
Très bonne expérience! Et le service, fantastic! Nous reviendrons.
The chocolate cake was delicious but I found it a bit dry. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite spots to eat at.
Thanks again for the excellent service!
It's always a great experience, but this time it was exceptional, which is good; I brought someone who has just moved back to Winnipeg and had never been to the restaurant before.
What a great place to highlight fantastic food, view and ambiance to a small group from across western Canada. Our waitress was knowledgeable, the food was plentiful and very tasty, and the French roast coffee was spectacular! All were impressed that I knew about this local gem.
Atmosphere was relaxed. Not overly busy for a Sunday afternoon. Breakfast was only served till noon so had to order from Lunch menu. Service was friendly and efficient. My house salad was fresh and the strawberry vinaigrette was delicious. My quiche was alright although the portion size could have been larger. Our server explained that the clubhouse on rye would have only two slices of bread instead of the usual three because of the irregular shaped slices. I don’t understand the logic behind this and it was a bit messy to eat as the filling slid around and fell out as a result. I’d recommend ordering multigrain when ordering the clubhouse. Fries were seasoned nicely, not overly salted.
Great breakfast! Love the jam!
The bison burger was extremely dry and too salty.
Our waitress was great and friendly.
Ambience is pleasant.
The food was good however I made a reservation for 5 people a week in advance and I was being seated at a table for 4 and they wanted to put a chair at end and make it crowded. When I said I made a reservation for 5 the waitress just looked at me and said they were busy! I was not happy and said I made my reservation a week ago and they then pulled another table over. The service was not the prompt...we had to ask when I order was going to be taken and a few issues with one persons meal. Also when I walked in there were 3 waitresses behind the very tall counter and kept asking me what I said cause the counter was blocking. It would be nice if they came around the counter and greeted you at the door instead of asking more then a couple times what you were saying
The atmosphere was nice. The food was very good. Excellent missed only because my partner’s pork was a little over cooked. Our dining experience was special as two from our group, both visiting from MTL QC, were able to be part of the French quarter experience of Wpg. They were very impressed with the ability & ease with which they could converse with the restaurant personnel in French & loved the food, in particular the (Manitoban) bison burger & « les moules »!
I absolutely LOVED dining here! Everything about the food was delicious! I can't wait to come back to try more of menu items!
Dinner with family from Massachusetts! Service was terrible and the food was salty! A MUST NOT TRY!
Brunch was fantastic! Great selection, loved the Mediterranean eggs!! Such a nice touch to have Cramptons jam on the brunch menu! Love the decor also, definitely will go back for brunch!
Although everything I've had at Promenade has been fantastic, several of us had the Coq au Vin and were a little disappointed. It wasn't quite up to par.
Food was delicious, most notably was Gary our server, knowledgeable, very friendly , funny , made up a cocktail not on the menu was delicious , service impeccable!
Great location, food and service. Delicious food at every meal whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner.
