Promenade Cafe and Wine
French comfort food and local ingredients is the basis ever-changing seasonal menus. Our restaurant menu focuses on Winnipeg's local and French community in our restaurant menu.
The inspiration for the dishes range from local ingredients, tradition of the Francophone French Community of Winnipeg and comfort food preparations.
We are dedicated to utilizing local and regional products wherever possible in our dishes. The is nothing premade in our Winnipeg restaurant including all of our scratch made desserts. You will certainly see this reflected in the freshness and quality of our French cuisine.
The onion soup is great. I enjoyed the boeuf Bourguignon very much. And my wife enjoyed the duck. One young lady at a table beside us was quite loud and that interfered with the otherwise pleasant ambience.
My son and his girlfriends birthday.
Fabulously entertaining and competent server! He was knowledgeable, attentive without being bothersome and has a gift for putting everyone in a good mood.
Each of us loved our selected dinner. The food is excellent.
Really enjoyed our breakfast with friends. Very nice experience as it had been quite a while since we were there. Thankful that we could make a reservation as that took some of the pressure off trying to time it with our friends. Good job!
Delicious and true French cuisine. Absolutely loved the experience.
My friend and I enjoyed lunch at this restaurant. The service was excellent and the soup and Reuben sandwich were delicious! Parking is not the easiest to find in this area but it's worth looking for. We relax by the window and enjoy each other's company until a patron at the table next to us put on the smelliest hand lotion. We immediately we're stuffed up from the scent and had to leave. It might be nice to just have a sign up asking people to refrain from using scented products. It may not help but it might. I will definitely come here again.
The quality continues to be excellent. Our table enjoyed well a prepared meal, service was tops and the ambiance is a little like being in Europe. Looking out over the river and the Provencher bridge adds to the atmosphere. We've dined here New Years Eve for several years and have never been disappointed. Thank you for an lovely evening.
Nice little spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch...decor is very nice and food is very good.
My granddaughter’s meal was very good but mine was just warm, but as we were going to the Concert Hall and there was a group of 35 (Christmas gathering) they arrived right after us, no time to return meal. Also noise level was due to large group.
We love the ambiance and friendly staff. This is a neighborhood gem.
French restaurant on River bank. Nice view. Great service, food is amazing, local food sourcing largely. Good wine list,
The lunch quiche was heaven. Can’t wait to return.
The worst dining experience ever. I don’t know if it changed ownership or what happened but the absolutely worse experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
I am sorry to report that my friends and I were very disappointed with our meals. Three of four ordered the Bistro breakfast. All found the potatoes still cold. I suspect the potatoes had been frozen and heated prior to serving, and we all agreed there were still frozen spots. We did mention this to our server, and she said she would let the kitchen know. I asked for medium poached eggs, but they were undercooked and very runny. I didn't complain because poached eggs are difficult to prepare, but i would expect more from a restaurant that serves breakfast. None of us received the jam we requested (I'd asked for strawberry, but received Saskatoon, which turned out to be a lovely mistake . . . the jam was delicious).
Service was exceptional. Our server was prompt, friendly, and efficient. Coffee was very good, and I appreciated a second cup.
I'll likely return. Promenade Bistro was highly recommended, and our experience was probably not par.
Excellent service and food to celebrate any occasion
Everything was excellent, from the prompt seating, to the prompt and professional service, to the prompt and delicious food. Well done!
Great restaurant, food and ambiance always good in a fabulous location!
Thank you. We had a great lunch. Booked a week ahead and had our table for 8 ready early for us. Great food and service.
Have eaten at Promenade many many times and have to say this was the first time I was a little disappointed with my meal. Ordered the half Poulet 100 milles and found it was a very tiny portion and was very bland. It was supposed to be featured with portabella mushroom and gouda cheese but It didn't seem to be present. The veggies were ok although nothing green on the plate. I found myself continually seasoning with s & p to give it some taste. My wife had the Vegetalien plate and it was very good. I personally wouldn't order the chicken again.
we came to the Promenade for a breakfast reunion with 5 friends. One of the reasons for choosing this restaurant was the fact that we could make a reservation. The service was fantastic - attentive but not intrusive. Great food, lovely atmosphere - highly recommended!
Enjoyed breakfast with great view!
A quality dining experience in St. B. Food has been hit-or-miss: I've had a great brunch there, but on my last dinner the gnocchi portion was small and the bison tourtiere was somewhat dry.
Enjoyed the food and the service
a very comfortable and relaxed place to enjoy lunch. The onion soup is delicious and was thoroughly enjoyed after 2 hours outdoors at the Bomber celebration parade. The restaurant got very busy after the parade, however the staff pulled together and handled all the guests efficiently. Another great experience at this restaurant.
Loved being able to reserve for a Saturday breakfast. Our server was very helpful. The restaurant was busy, but we were able to take our time and visit with our friends. We were pleasantly surprised that our coffee was included with the price of the breakfast. An excellent experience that we will repeat.
An excellent time. Our server Michael helped make the evening. His recommendations were top notch and was always attentive. The food was right on par. A great way to spend an evening.
Beef bourguignon was like an "ordinary" stew, beet jce ran into other vegetables, not very appealing!
Pate appetizer was fantastic.
Unfortunately the chicken dinner was raw. The server asked how we would like to resolve the issue, but I think that it should have determined by management themselves. It is a huge concern when food is prepared in a manner that could pose a health risk to the customers. I am pregnant so to be exposed to such risks are highly concerning. I feel that this is a matter that should NEVER have occurred. I will not be returning.
Waitress was very accommodating
This place keeps bringing me back every time! L'ambiance, la cuisine, et le service sont extraordinaire!
Our meals weren't as good as we remember from previous visits but still pretty good. Our server was very good, friendly and efficient. We particularly like that it's quiet enough to visit easily. We were surprised how cold it was and it took a long time to warm up, something we are likely to remember next time we choose a restaurant; false economy.
We sat in the section by the door and found it pretty cool. I had the French Onion soup and it was just OK The Reuben was pretty good but over priced. I’ve had better for cheaper. The soup of the day was real good. My wives mussels were just OK too. Mike our waiter was very nice and helpful. He was the highlite of our lunch.
the fish with rice and cauliflower is served cold, the fish is hard and overcooked. Food taste is not good at all . The only thing that is positive is the waiter that served us. It’s a joke to call it French Restaurant. They need to hire a chef!!
In the reservation we asked to be seated with a view... had hoped this would be in the main dining area, as there seemed to be lots of time available for reservation. And this is where we've been seated in the past with these special requests.
But we were seated in the Front space near the kitchen. It was noisy and we were seated at a table that did not even have a window.
Just a bit disappointing.
Thanks always great
The food at this restaurant usually leaves me wanting more but not this time. Had the trout which was too soft. I have had this on many occasions at this restaurant and this was the poorest offering.
This restaurant is terribly overpriced for what you get.
The food was not great, the tortier tated burnt and was dry, the rest was bland, except for the brussel sprouts, they were really good. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I definitely expected more. Our waitress was out of sight for most of the evening, even when I was trying to get the bill to get out of there. The view was beautiful though, which was the best part of the experience.
party of 6 mid morning weekday
Rez and seating was on time and/or early - water poured right away
5/6 orders placed and coffee delivered promptly (one person late)
Food was cold /just warm and bacon and ham burnt.... offered fresh ham, but diner requested whole meal at same time.... after it was delivered, the service did not check in to see if everything was ok.
I think there were just 2 servers but the place was not full, and certainly before lunch crowd arrived.
Sound in lePromenade is not the best but I’ve always enjoyed this establishment and food/coffee - a little bit of follow up could go a long way
Well prepared and tasty entrees.
Haven't been disappointed in many visits.
