Promenade Cafe and Wine
French comfort food and local ingredients is the basis ever-changing seasonal menus. Our restaurant menu focuses on Winnipeg's local and French community in our restaurant menu.
The inspiration for the dishes range from local ingredients, tradition of the Francophone French Community of Winnipeg and comfort food preparations.
We are dedicated to utilizing local and regional products wherever possible in our dishes. The is nothing premade in our Winnipeg restaurant including all of our scratch made desserts. You will certainly see this reflected in the freshness and quality of our French cuisine.
Great food and excellent service!
Food is all ways great and the servers make you feel welcomed.
Consistently excellent food and service. Always a pleasure to dine here, and the view of our lovely downtown, especially out on the patio on a summer evening simply can’t be beat!
Certain dishes portions were small (poutine). Service was very good though and flavour was also very good. The dressing on the salad was lacking gusto. Tourtiere de bison was excellent.
Great service and location. We sat outside on the patio so there was noise from traffic but the view of the cityscape is worth it all. Cost is a bit much for breakfast.
We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful summer evening
Wonderful meal. They were so accommodating with my request for dairy-free options. Every bite was delicious and the service was lovely!
My Mum and I went to Promenade Café and Wine for brunch on their patio. Our server was quick and very personable - great service - and the ham and Swiss crepes we both had were so delicious! We had our brunch on their expanded patio - which has the most incredible view in the city.
Great food and great service!
The food was terrific and the Service is always great! The view with a window seat is beautiful too!
Food is absolutely incredible! Delicious lattes! Yummy!
Staff very efficient. Great food especially the desserts.
Beautiful place, excellent service , food was amazing. Felt safe.
Great soups and quiches. Plus the rest of the menu is excellent.
The service was exemplary and the food was delicious and well prepared.
Great service, great food, and enjoyed dining on the outdoor patio!
Had brunch on the patio and the view of the museum, bridge, downtown (etc) was awesome! Our reservation was for 11:00 which is right when they open so we were the first ones there and the only ones seated for a little while, so the service was excellent at the beginning. Then once it started getting busier our server was very neglectful. We didn’t get checked on at all after that point so didn’t get any drink refills. We both ordered egg dishes and thought the potatoes were very underwhelming. They were very bland and came to us cold. The rest of the food was enjoyable.
Delicious food. All the dishes we tried tasted homemade but better then what you would make yourself, obviously. Very soulful dishes. Can't wait to come back for dinner.
Always good French food.
Good was good, service great, nice to sit outside. Tables were placed for social distancing and marked well inside resturant for social distancing.
My wife and I decided to try Promenade for our first time July 10th, the day of our wedding anniversary. We mainly enjoyed our dinner visit, conceding that they had only recently returned to in-house dining due to Covid 19. The ambiance was mainly nicely quiet, lovely music in the background and a comfortable setting. We had a table in the back corner which was nice. I would not have wanted to be by the street as the sun was shining much too brightly. They have curtains that hopefully can be closed. I think it was actually nicer that half the tables had to be taken out due to Covid lol (not so great for profits). You could see the riverside not too far in the distance which was nice. We noticed that peoples' attire ranged mainly from nice casual to more dressy. A gentleman came in shorts so I guess they are acceptable.
The food took a bit of time to get, about half an hour but it was manageable. I had the smoked trout for an appetizer and quite enjoyed it (it is served cold and smoked in house which is a nice touch). For dinner, my main entree was the bison and pork pie which was good also. Everything was beautifully laid out. My wife had the onion soup which she really liked and the beef bourguignon which tasted very good but only some of the beef was tender.. some quite chewy.
Service was friendly. We got seated right away. The waiter was new to the dinner menu as she came over from breakfast time and was not yet fully familiar with the menu.
Price was reasonable and for a $100 bucks with tax and tip, not overwhelming for a couple that want to enjoy a night out in a fining dining leaning restaurant.
Excellent food. Quite enjoyed the smoked trout for app and the duck breast under the chef special.
I have frequented Cafe Promenade quite often over the years and was generally treated well in terms of service and quality of food. However this recent experience was not good at all (terrible). I had a guest that I wanted to treat to a nice lunch but this did not happen. The service was terrible. I had to get my own napkins, I had to keep leaving the table to get service at the counter, for example to ask to order desserts. The last straw was finally after waiting to get our bill I tried getting attention of server to no avail. I said it was time to go and I had to stand waiting for my bill at counter. Another server had to keep getting my server engaged. I would understand if it were very busy but it was not. I also noticed that the food was lack lustre and was not nearly as good as in my previous visits. Unfortunately I will not be returning and will no longer recommend this establishment to others.
It was a really great experience... it always is... my only complaint was another diner told the server to turn off the music, and afterwards it was a little awkwardly quiet with everyone’s conversations.
Breakfast was perfect. Staff were careful with safety protocols for COVID. Good place to go.
Great to see this restaurant back at work. Food was as good as ever, and the social distancing of the tables created a very nice ambiance.
We enjoy some of the menu items so return often. The staff was good/pleasant and accommodating. The waitress did double charge us for a couple of items. So a word of caution - check the bill thoroughly first before paying. Happy to be able to enjoy another meal again.
We arrived at the restaurant to find it closed even though we had a confirmed reservation.
We apologize for this and on Thursdays we are open 11am-2pm and 5pm to 9pm. Can you let us now the name of the reservation since the system should not allow reservations outside our operating hours. Please send the info to us either by email or our website online form.
Had the eggs Benedict and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect temperature and big portions. One of my favourite breakfast places
The food was very good and our server was lovely. We enjoyed the French press coffee and loose leaf tea. The outdoor atmosphere was lacking because of the barricades and make shift umbrella holders that rattled in the wind. We sat right next to our own parked car. Lots of traffic on the street made it quite loud. Both criticisms are things that are hard to avoid so I wouldn't judge them too harshly on that! I would still go again for the delicious Florentine omelette and potatoes!
Service was amazing, Food was Fantastic! Will go back again!
My friend and I always enjoy eating at Promenade Bistro. The food is excellent, service is friendly and good and it’s nice to be able to reserve the table you want.
It's really too soon to say. Desserts - at least of the features - were not fresh. And enforced distancing made for a relatively lonely experience. Staff were keen to put a brave face on.
First dinner date since Covid hit. We chose well
It is my first time in Winnipeg. The waiter Nick gave me a free coffee. You can see Red River from my table. Their bison tourtiere is very dreamy.
Service and food was excellent!
Our waiter was amazing. Can not remember his name but he was very knowledgeable and courteous.
I ordered the Mediterranean breakfast, but asked for whole wheat bread with no garlic butter as opposed to garlic toast, and was told no problem. It came back with white toast, buttered. I asked her again to have whole wheat bread and she brought back an order buttered and said it would be an extra charge. I told her i had wanted it dry and not to worry about bringing g another order. Crossed wires, but was not impressed. Otherwise food was good, but a bit crowded. I will probably still give it another chance.
Lovely brunch! Service was great and we really enticed the food. (Only thing I was left wanting was a non-dairy milk for coffee/tea).
Excellent, hot food. Friendly, knowledgeable servers. Coffee is superb!
half the table came out cold and was a common problem around the restaurant that day
