Promenade Cafe and Wine
French comfort food and local ingredients is the basis ever-changing seasonal menus. Our restaurant menu focuses on Winnipeg's local and French community in our restaurant menu.
The inspiration for the dishes range from local ingredients, tradition of the Francophone French Community of Winnipeg and comfort food preparations.
We are dedicated to utilizing local and regional products wherever possible in our dishes. The is nothing premade in our Winnipeg restaurant including all of our scratch made desserts. You will certainly see this reflected in the freshness and quality of our French cuisine.
I came for lunch with a friend in a wheelchair. The servers thought that the bathroom was “probably” wheelchair accessible. Indeed the wheelchair fit in the bathroom but the toilet was not readily usable. The food was OK - the servers needed to be reminded about certain requests such as dressing on the side, eggs on the side. The noise level was very high at the beginning as the restaurant was busy but quieted down later after 1:00 pm. As a short person, the chairs were extremely uncomfortable - we had quite a long lunch and my back was achy at the end. It would have been helpful if a server had volunteered to hold the door open when we left.
My new favourite restaurant! Devine food. Wonderful attentive service.
A welcoming and comfortable setting for a group of friends who hadn't seen each other in three years. Delicious food, drinks and dessert. Fun memories were made that night thanks to the terrific service.
very slow service, and the food came out for4 people piecemeal over 3-4 minutes. I ordered my eggs basted with medium yolks. They came cold and overdone.
3 out of 4 meals were over cooked. 2 ordered the pork tenderloin medallions which had nice flavour but were dry & tough as the pork was over cooked. Another had the tourtiee & it was very dry even with the gravy & it seem like the meat was almost burnt. Very disappointing as we had been here in several years.
Had higher expectations but overall good experience. Bread with herb garlic butter (menu item) delicious. Overdone shoestring fries with so-so mussels (daily special flavour). Bison tourtiere decent; beef bourguignon good; vegetarian dish so-so (portobello list in rice creme brûlée and blueberry cheesecake excellent.
It was awesome as usual. Love this place for Sunday brunch!
Prices for food online were incorrect. Potatoes were not hot just warm. Vegetables were good. Should have provided buns or bread. Pie crust on tourtiere was too thick. Wine prices were atrocious. Good service. Good location. Restaurant starting to need updates. Bathrooms needed painting and repairs. Parking lot has dangerously huge potholes.
I have eaten breakfast there quite a few times and enjoyed it each time ; this time I felt like the potatoes tasted like they had used old grease ; they even looked different like a greasy coating on them as if they had been cooked in advance and then reheated .
I actually had a sore stomach for the next three to four hours ; this has never happened to me after eating at Promenade that is why I thought I would share my experience with you.
I still would recommend it because all of my other experiences have been great.
We had a great evening with another couple couple. Pretty pricey and I didn’t appreciate being charged an extra coffee and a pop, especially when no one at our table was drinking pop.. I didn’t want to complain in front of our group. Otherwise it was a great experience.
The food I had at Cafe Promenade was superior to most restaurants in Winnipeg , especially at this price!
This is my favorite spot to meet friends for lunch. It's also close to the Wayne Arthur Gallery which is a great place to go after your meal.
Great everything. Server was attentive, anticipated our needs. Food is awesome. They accommodated a request to replace breakfast potatoes with a good portion of sliced grilled tomatoes. Been there a few times and always leave wondering why we don't go more often.
Great clubhouse sandwich and fries and salad. Nice room and looks like good wine by the glass for dinner.
The Promenade is a great place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The waitress was very wonderful and provided great service.
Amazing quiche & salad. Everyone else enjoyed their meal as well!
Went on Saturday, and it was delicious.
So good we went back on Sunday for brunch again and both ordered the same thing.
Sunday’s food was night and day different. My potato’s were black. Basically, they were Saturday’s left over potato’s, fried and served the next day. They tasted bad and looked like a charcoal on the plate.
Side of bacon on Saturday was huge. Sunday- 3 pieces.
Sad that food is not consistent. After Sunday, I would not recommend the place bc I don’t know what they would get.
This was my first visit to the Promenade Cafe. It was excellent. I would definitely go back and would highly recommend it others.
Great view of the Forks from the patio at lunch. Great food. Service was fine, but nothing beyond taking the order and bringing food.
quelque peu déçu par le dessert ( Flotting island) qui a été déjà meilleur
Food was good, over priced. People are great, service excellent.
The food , wine and the view of downtown Winnipeg was great .
Great lunch and service!
We eat here often and always make reservations either by calling directly or through Open Table. We are generally able to request a specific table and the service is excellent.
Our group of four had a lovely meal at Promenade Cafe - we had a window table with a beautiful view, the drinks and food were excellent and we had a friendly and efficient server. The atmosphere is lovely and we would highly recommend the experience!
Enjoyed a very nice roasted mushroom salad - very unusual and very tasty. Mains were Bison & Pork Tourtiere and Beef Bourguignon - Both served with a well made mashed potato. A simple meal that was very satisfying. Portions were very generous and our server was excellent. Decor is comfortable. Desserts looked delicious but we had no room to try them - Maybe next time!
Lovely ambiance great service. Crepes and egg benedicts were so tasty 😋
Great food and great service. They also have a good wine list and the serving staff are very helpful.
Also very cool to be greeted in French. (I made it through the first exchange without switching to English. Yay!!) To me the language, and the menu at least partially in French adds to the ambiance and value here.
Stellar food, excellent service, in a relaxed and comfortable setting, all at a very reasonable price. It simply doesn't get any better than The Promenade!
We had a nice evening and enjoyed our dinner.
Our only complaint would be the lack of parking.
We have frequently dined at Promenade and enjoyed our meals.
This particular occasion the only off putting experience was that our meals did not all come out together and a few of the guests at our table had almost completely eaten their meal before 3/6 arrived. Around us, other tables that arrived and ordered after our table had already received their meals prior to the remainder of our party getting theirs.
Excellent food and service. A bit tight on parking.
Out waitress was phenomenal! Very attentive and made sure our drinks were always topped off. It was a great brunch and we enjoyed our time. Give Emily a raise :) !
Was a lovely brunch, as always! Service, coffee and food was perfect! Promenade is my favorite go-to Sunday brunch location. Will be back again very soon!
Delicious, Manitoba-sourced food, artfully presented. Our server was friendly and attentive.
Our book club meet at Promenade Cafe and wine on a Friday night at 7:15pm. I was glad to have made a reservation using the Open Table program which is attached to their website. The place wasn't humming, but it was busy and the reservation guaranteed our group was able to be accommodated. Despite being busy, our group was able to comfortably discuss our book without having to shout or repeat ourselves. We had a window table, and the view of Winnipeg's city skyline was magnificent. The menu is a fabulous bland of french dishes and lived up to it's description. Attention to detail was evident as we all 'ohhed' and 'awwed' over our dishes as they arrived to the table. The beverage menu is larger than the food menu with many local beer choices. Desserts are on display as you walk through the front door and there is no way that you won't be saving room for a slice of one of the delectable dishes after your main course. Portion sizes for both main course and desserts are generous and are reflected in the prices. Service was attentive and professional. This is a great local place to enjoy great food and scenery! FYI - there is a dock just down the street from the restaurant that we have used on one other occasion when we took a trip up the mighty Red to dine at Promenade. Use with caution however, as there are no bumpers and you might not want to leave your boat unattended for too long after dark!
Great first experience. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, we were seated promptly at a lovely table in front of a window. The menu had many great options for appetizers and main courses and everything our party ordered was excellent. The Bison Tourtiere was superb, my husband devoured his order of mussels, the poutine was excellent and the Caesar salad was divine. Service was excellent. Great wine and spirits selection. Wish we had room for dessert because I bet it would have been exceptional. Highly recommend and will absolutely be back.
Service was incredibly slow for brunch/lunch. I usually have dinner there and it’s awesome but this was far from their normal quality. It was generic so so
They worked with my kids and altered the meals but we waited 50 min for them to bring anything.
I like that we can reserve ahead of time.
I love all the windows , great waiters/ waitresses, not a long wait for the food.
I do like that is not too noisy even it the restaurant is full.
I do recommend it to people all the time ; we usually go for breakfast and I find it is good quality for
a very reasonable price ; great size portions !
