The Proud Peacock restaurant was built in 1975 by Charlie Pietsch Jr., the owner of Waimea Valley. Charlie's daughter named this restaurant after the majestic peafowl that was introduced from Koko Crater and grace the grounds to this day! The restaurant features local favorites from Executive Chef Andy Dalan, ample libation and live music themed to capture the culture of the Hawaiian Islands. The restaurant also features a magnificent full bar from the early 1800's imported all the way from Scotland.

The Proud Peacock is the setting for many fond memories with a broad diversity of local musicians sharing their talent with the North Shore residents and visitors from all over the world.

Be it a holiday, an anniversary, birthday or just another special day in Waimea Valley, it is time for some ono mea'ai (good food); 'apono piha ka 'opu nui (approving of a full big stomach)!

Very disappointing. It turns out that although we had a confirmed Open Table reservation, the restaurant is not open on Tuesdays (OT website indicates only Monday closure) Hotdogs at the snack bar were a poor substitute for the restaurant meal.

Was sadly disappointed in the restaurant food and service. Went here for anniversary dinner since we had been married at Waimea Falls 17 yrs ago. The description on the internet and name itself sounded wonderful. The food was dry and who knows how long it had been sitting out. They had very little salad, no bread or real desert. Seemed like nothing was made in restaurant but reheated food from some caterer. Plus, you could see the waiter area (prep area as well) and trash behind the buffet table. Only thing pleasant was the patio area and view of park. We were also able to do the moon walk which was fantastic and only done a few times in the year. I recommend the walk in the park, but eat before you get there.

My family and my best friend's family dined here for Easter brunch and it was lovely. The restaurant used the pavilion seating, which was perfect for the view and for the kids to run around. The food was delicious and I would definitely come back.

The location, especially if seated on the lanai, is great. We went for Sunday brunch. We were greeted and seated promptly. They seemed to under-staffed even for a day and time when there were very few diners. We had to ask for refills of our water glasses, but otherwise the waitress did her best and was very friendly. The food was just okay. If we had not had a coupon, I would have felt that it was over-priced. I hope this restaurant can make a go of it and be a success. The location is great, the staff is friendly. We previously enjoyed eating dinner there. However, they have now stopped serving dinner.

we spent a week in Haleiwa and had a delightful Sunday brunch here--complete with live guitar music and a regal peacock on the stairs...so glad we decided to come. we had come here the day before to see and swim the waterfall--which was amazingly fun, btw, and thought we'd try the restaurant...the setting was so serene. the food and service was very good, and the view off the balcony was great...I still imagine that scene and smile!

Service was good food was tasty. However, the steak and shrimp was more like an appetizer:( Should of had small filet mignons. The mushroom lasagna could of been so much better with less sauce all I tasted was tomatoes not mushrooms or cheeses. The appetizers and deserts were very tasty. Music was a bit loud. Should situate musicians in background. Will return thanks

The service was decent, and the area was very nice. However the food served on valentines day was very lacking in the flavor department.. I've had microwaveable good that tasted better than the $50 meal I had here.

The Valentine's Day Sampling menu was great. We especially enjoyed the Lobster Bisque in the Sourdough bowl and the Uber Tart for dessert. The live entertainment was beautiful as was the outdoor setting on the lanai. We loved watching the peacocks roaming the grounds below.

We finally made it to this restaurant that I almost forgot was there in the Waimea Valley Park. There was a small elevator shaft which we were able to take up instead of the steep stairs. (With elderly lady) You need to ring the button on the left wall of the elevator and someone will bring you up in the elevator. Pleasant little spot we found.

I will have to say that the Proud Peacock is better than Joe's or Leilei's for a nice enjoyable dinner. The service is more professional, the food comes quicker, and the portions and selections are prepared with more luuuv. I was around when the Peacock first opened some 35 years ago and we used to eat there all the time. Now I live on the big island and come over periodically to see my girlfriend who lives at Sunset. Besides being closer to get to, the ambiance of Waimea Valley cannot be beat. My favorite place to dine; again!

I love the Proud Peacock! The staff is very friendly and attentive. I love sitting on the patio and the food is always great! I came with family from out of town and they are all self-proclaimed "foodies" and they all loved it here. My only complaint is as soon as the sun goes down there are always lots of mosquitoes! So come prepared! Overall one of my favorite places to eat!

It was interesting that the restaurant gave me the 100 pts for my RSV because we were turned away when we got to the restaurant. We made the RSV for Halloween night at 7:30pm since we were staying at Turtle Bay and wanted to finish trick or treating with the kiddos. Driving there was a little eerie. No lights and only two cars in the restaurant's parking lot. We walked upstairs to the restaurant and saw only 1 couple dining outside, a live performer singing, and some people in the kitchen. The host came up to us and said they just closed the kitchen. I told him we had made RSV through OpenTable for 7:30pm and he said he was sorry but it was the chef's decision. He said to try again next time, and I was thinking more like never. We toted the kids away, wishing that the restaurant attempted to communicate by phone or email that they were closing early so we didn't have to make the drive out for absolutely nothing but disappointment and frustration. We ended up at Lui Bueno's in Haleiwa which was really great!

It was the live music & atmosphere that made our night memorable. Unfortunately, I felt the menu wasn't so interesting. We shared a salad, that lacked flavor. I had the garlic shrimp, my husband had the ahi plate. Both entrées were prepared well. We finished off with the "taro" brûlée, which really tasted like sweet potato. Our server was very nice, service was not seamless but good enough. Definitely will give another try.

Went for dinner on "Moonwalk" night. Made reservations a month in advance. Glad I made it for 5 pm because we got our appetizers and food in good time. The restaurant filled up quickly and got real busy. The walk in the moonlight on this cool evening was pretty nice after a full dinner.

A delicious meal at very reasonable priced in a beautiful spot. Maybe we were unfortunate it was so quiet when we were there but seemed like they need to advertise dinner service more as, with a bit more atmosphere, this would be great. As it was our meal passed too quickly and we were out again too soon. Maybe because we're European but we'd have liked to have seen bread served with dinner. Would return without hesitation.

Wonderful food! We went for dinner Saturday night. Next time we will request to sit on the patio! Loved the architecture inside but the ambiance on the patio was quite lovely and romantic! Looking forward to going back.

Sadly there seem to be very few dining options on the north shore of Oahu, but we had a very pleasant evening and a fine meal at the Proud Peacock. Strongly recommend it if you are staying up at Turtle Bay or anywhere in the vicinity.
